So the night crew vs. the morning crew is huge. The morning crew is insanely kind, considerate, cares about your wellbeing. The night crew feels like(Mostly) folks who don't want you to be there, younger/maybe newer in their field and someone is playing video games because it's quiet, and one night there was me and 1 other old man their. ALL the rooms were empty from what I could see, but I think they had one other patient. NO one was in the waiting room. And the desk dude was complaining that the old man was here at 3am. And then said "Well I GUESS your heart rate is a little high." I was polite and courteous as i went in and in the central area like right in front of me I heard them say something about why they need to keep people over 80 alive. I was like wtf did I just hear??? I was like maybe they had a bad day but saying that out loud is crazy. No one with that attitude should be working in the ER, I'm sorry. But the MORNING people are not like that. Unfortunately, a lot of times I've had severe emergencies in the middle of the night, I have a lot of different medical conditions. And I know, the ER is for 'if your dying' but it's also for 'to make sure you aren't dying' because sometimes not going you can die if you don't get it checked. read more

I had robot assisted hernia surgery yesterday, with Medicare and supplemental insurance. The surgeon I had was awesome and the staff there was extremely detailed oriented and kind. They took what could have been a terrifying experience and made it as good as it could possibly be. I had a team of people involved in my surgery at least 8 plus that I remember. they told me everything they were going to do to the letter, no surprises. Today i am recovering with fairly minor pain. I took 1 pain pill that day and 1that night and as I am writing this, I have not taken any more pain meds not even Tylenol. I have had other trips to this hospital and have always had great care. I highly recommend them. read more

For a generally good hospital with fine staff, I was dismayed to discover after being discharged from a major same-day surgery at 7:30pm that the hospital pharmacy was closed for the night, and the nerest open pharmacy was a 45 miniute drive away in Falmouth - I cvouldn't sit for 1-1/2 hr car ride with a new hip! So went home with no pain medication or other meds until someone picked them up at the hospital pharmacy the following morning. There were at least 5 people with me in recovery who must have been in the same boat. No provission to get urgent meds to patients after 7 pm! The nursing staff seemed unaware of this problem. Switchboard sent us to a CVS nearby whose pharmacy was closed for the night though its website said 24 hours open. read more

I have been a lifelong resident "wash a shore" of Cape Cod and have seen great changes. I have traveled the world and have required medical attention in several of the countries I have visited due to chronic serious illnesses and this is definitely a World Class Medical Facility. The care teams that I have been Blessed with are Extremely Compassionate, Understanding and Forward Thinking. I would highly recommend treatments, procedures and they are amongst the best in the world, in my opinion, for Cancer, Cardiac Care and Treatment. I would enjoy seeing a collaboration with Well Known Research Hospitals and Universities due to the rates of cancer in the Cape Cod area. I highly recommend them based on numerous past experiences and how well they have cared for my Dear Mother as She has battled cancer for over two years now. The compassion, empathy, understanding and strength they have shown in truly amazing and I am humbled to witness my Mothers miraculous recovery and unfortunate however inevitable decline battling this horrible disease. OMG what a wonderful and beautiful hospital. First time using their facilities as my father was feeling sick and we brought him to the ER. Very impressed with their services and staff , plenty of free parking. We brought my father to the ER and the staff were very kind and just wonderful. The inside of the ER is very bright, big and spacious. They had all their stations in the middle of the floor (Open concept) and all the rooms surrounding them. My father had a room right away in the ER, after all the test were completed it was determine my dad was suffering from gall bladder disease. He was admitted within a couple of hours and Dr. Kalliath performed surgery the next day, he had a wonderful room and they took care of him like gold. The rooms were spacious and bright, he could order his breakfast, lunch and dinner out of their menu. I must say their menu selection is very good. The way he was treated in the ER we knew he was I good hands and we did not have to worry. We are so blessed this hospital was here and the staff, nurses and DR. Matthew Kalliath were just outstanding. read more

I just went on Medicare and never spent a day in the hospital my whole life, so my experience there can't be based on a great deal of Hospital experiences, but I can give you my honest impressions... Also, thank goodness I was on Medicare when the bill came. I went into CC Hospital when I got called by my primary care Doctor that my blood testing was "all over the place" and to go immediately. I went to the ER, was admitted to the ER on the spot, and spent the next 3 hours going through tests. I got Blood, Urine, a CT scan, and an ultrasound evaluation of my chest/torso. It took the ER Doctor about 3 hours, and I was diagnosed with Pericarditis (inflammation of the covering of the heart). I was admitted and wheeled up to Cardiology for the night. I met with the Cardiologist about 7:30 PM and he said that it usually resolves over 6-8 weeks, and that his only concern was that my heart might be struggling to pump with the swelling and pressure, and that an Echocardiogram would be done the next day. Made sense to me! I asked if there was anything else to be done, and he said that there really wasn't. So, of course I asked if my heart wasn't struggling, if I could leave the next day, and he said that usually I would stay for one or two more days, but we could talk about it... The next day right at 10 AM I got an echocardiogram right in my bed and that was pretty much it for the day. A different Cardiologist came in at about 4 PM and said my Echo was satisfactory and that I would be staying for a couple more days. I noted my discussion with the previous doctor and said that it looks like I'm going home. He said that "you're not going anywhere until I call him." I urged him to please place that call. I also told him that whether he discharged me or I discharged me, I was going home that day. He came back 40 minutes later with my discharge orders. Are you ready for this? The order was (1) to live and exercise with no restrictions on my activity or my current medications, (2) to take high-dose ibuprofen, then escalate dosing downward for a total of 4 weeks, and (3) get another echocardiogram within 10 days. So immediately, the whole concept of keeping me for an additional two days was probably just a way to fleece Medicare. Who needs supervision to take Advil? Overall? I would give great marks to the ER Doctor and staff. I came in with something unknown, and it was known in 3 hours. The nurses up in Cardiology were fine as far as I could tell. The Facility? Well, the ER was OK, but the Cardiology unit was way past its useful life. I found out that a brand new Cardiology unit was being built, so that was good to know. The bill? $20,000 for a total of 26 hours. After Medicare I was on the hook for $250. They clearly wanted to pump it up even more by keeping me for two more days with no real medical need. Someone might call that dishonest, but I'll leave up to the reader to put labels on it. Remember I have no other hospital stay to compare it to, so I will rate them at a solid 3 stars - average. read more

If you're really sick, go to a first rate Boston Hospital like MassGeneralBrigham; Beth Israel; Boston Medical Center or Tufts Medical Center. And, you might just get home alive or intact. read more

I mean, I lived so that's a plus but this place is completely terrifying. Most of the doctors are not qualified. The nurses are overworked. It's not very sanitary, especially the bathrooms. The wait time is obscene both in the waiting area and then back in the ER as well. I came in having a bunch of seizures, with no seizure history, no drug intake and had been ill for weeks. Was taken to the hospital because I was scared silly and u sure what was happening. They left me in a hallway, next to the garbage and throw away gowns while I had to listen to a girl who came in on a ambulance call after doing drugs on the beach and getting sick or passing out. They checked her out and just kinda ignored people and then just sent people home without any help. It's real weird. Didn't know what was wrong, if it was safe, or anything and just called an on call neurologist and gave me some meds and then wait 3 months for an appointment with a specialist. We were in the ER last night I've been there before so it's hit or miss if you get a nice RN. Last night we had two very rude RNs. They were abrupt and acted like we were putting them out even when we asked the smallest questions. They acted annoyed and were so quick and didn't answer one question. Names -Alison and Bruna. The worst ER I have ever been to. I went here in September for severe stomach pain and the staff was extremely rude. First off, they would not confirm if they were within my insurance network or not, even though I asked multiple times, and they were being extremely deceptive about it and wouldn't give me a direct answer. Since the staff was so incompetent and couldn't figure out how to look my insurance up, I ended up having to find out myself which is not something you want to be doing when you're having an emergency. The did all of these labs and tests on me just to tell me they couldn't find anything wrong and sent me home. Such a waste of my time and money for literally no help or answers as to what was wrong. Flash forward to October and they send me a MASSIVE $1,500 bill. I've called several times to try and negotiate but they won't do it, even after I've offered to pay $1,000 today. Same experience as I got in person -- extremely rude, unhappy staff. I would recommend going anywhere else but here because they'll rack up a massive bill just to tell you they don't know what is wrong with you. read more

I just came from Cape Cod Hospital Emergency Room, waiting in the waiting area for 2 & 1/2 hours. This teenager who was checking people in on the evening of Sunday, 10/8/23 (when she was not hanging out on her personal cell phone) rudely and without one single bit of care or concern, finally informed me that people are admitted "not" according to when they registered with her, but when she felt it was time to let someone in. In other words, it did not matter when I registered, as it was up to her to choose who goes when. I am a Dr. in a local Massachusetts hospital myself, and this kind of representation dropped Cape Cod Hospital (finally) down to the bottom of my referrals. On July 11, my husband took me to Cape Cod Hospital ER. I had started to fall 2-days prior...My right foot was dragging...I have Cauda Equina from prior event as well as severely Vit-D. THE STAFF & CARE WAS INCREDIBLE. I was actually ADMITTED to hospital...I had 6-days in hosp receiving incredible care. Plus SURGERY for a ruptured disc. Plus IRON IV's fault for severe anemia. The nurse from this hospital is making fun out of corona virus disease, spreading wrong information that bats consumptions are related to spread to human (scientific community claims bats to intermediate host such as anteater to human) The intent is to make fun of this situation among her groups(nurses, she claims her people in her group take this as jokes because they are educated enough to know it is not bats consumptions) When confronted, she defends herself by this is god jokes among her friends who are educated enough to understand this is joke. Right now is not about funny at all many are being suffered physically, mentally, and financially and some lives are being lost everyday. We are sad to see such posts coming from medical practitioners making fun of this situation. Making bat consumptions to cause of spread is tied to racism against culture or ethnic group that consume bats for decades. Again there is ZERO evidence to suggest bats consumption was the cause of spreads of corona virus disease. We doubt the ethic of this practitioner as well as her colleagues. Please educate your employee and if you see such racial comments or non scientific based wrong information or jokes against situations that have caused many damages to society never come out from practitioners of medicines who work at front to help people's life and live. read more

I delivered at CCH last month and had an incredible experience. I was really apprehensive after I had read some reviews but this hospital and maternity staff did not disappoint. From the nurses, midwives, and providers, everyone was so kind, understanding, and knowledgeable. They helped me make informed decisions about my birth and never made me feel pressured one way or the other when it came to labor & delivery. We were checked on a minimum of every two hours and whenever we needed something, someone was there within a minute or two, usually less time. The only issue I saw was that 3 meals are provided for the mother per day but only one is provided for the support/partner which we felt was a little unfair. read more

I fell at my home yesterday and my Husband called the ambulance. Three EMT technicians arrived and one of them picked me up and put me in a transport chair. At Cape Cod Hospital ER they quickly helped me and I was admitted. The Doctors Nurses- Nurses Aid- and Technicians were wonderful and caring and I think the facility is clean and orderly. read more

I was concerned coming to the ER here after seeing the many critical, low rated reviews... And wasn't too thrilled about needing to go to an ER, period. But the doc and nurses I interacted with were great--they listened, were super clued in, and offered excellent treatment. After that visit, thought maybe I just lucked out with the right staff the day I was there, and then unfortunately, days later, needed to return. Same impressive experience. No fluke. Hello! There were only two patients who have been signed in and waiting to register (One to drop off a stools sample across from Radiology). I waited for 10-15 minutes, or so with my husband. When we were called by Registration, and went up to woman, we kept being interrupted, so she could talk on the phone with her Nursing Mgr. about a new admission+, and it did not end there. After the incoming call, she had spoken with a co-worker for around 20 minutes, to the co-worker who had cleaned out her tote bag, she wanted to talk to her about something, for 15-20 minutes. Thereafter, we heard two days in a row that they did something wrong with the lab slips printing. Then someone even additional came who was chatting; and eventually she offered to bring the stools sample to the lab. I had already dropped it there during my being ignored at Registration- I walked down, waited, talked to someone, and back from the lab across from Radiology, as my husband was ignored up at Registration. Pertaining to someone grabbing the stool's sample, we've had tainted lab samples that couldn't be used twice in the past! If we were being checked in- the call, then a co-workers interruptions should not have been a priority, while it was our turn REGISTERING.​ Other things have happened at CCH, such as when my spouse had two post-Surgeon follow up appointments- one was canceled just prior and the other one did not even go into her office on Mondays, which we found out at the time of the appointments that were 6 weeks later. The service was very poor yesterday and with long waits two days in a row. Some employees park there cars out front, but they are not supposed to. Recently I had to circle around for around the 6th. time, before a parking spot became available, and I found out later that the wrong blood order was drawn on my spouse that day, and how he had to go back there to begin with! read more

Worst place to have a baby. They wouldn't let us have 2 people in the room during labor so we left and went to a hospital that allowed us to have two people in the room.... they called CPS on us.. for what? Because you have awful regulations and are so strict about everything... Our experience was awful at this maternity Ward and the rooms were very small the nurses were rude I'd say go elsewhere if you want a good labor and delivery experience... Luckily CPS closed the case as fast as it was opened. They understood wanting to have my mom and husband both in the room. I should be able to choose to give birth wherever I please.. that was very unfair of them. read more

A pharmacist at Rite Aid accidentally pricked herself while disposing of a lancet while showing me how to use a blood sugar meter. I went to this hospital to take some tests to ease her concerns. All the paperwork I had was from Rite Aid saying they would pay and I crossed out everything that indicated I was the responsible party. I still got loads of bills from the hospital and their billing department was not sent the paperwork I signed. I needed to use the bathroom which had congealed blood on the toilet seat. The nurse I spoke with was not too concerned and said she'd get someone to clean it up. I hope the surgical areas are cleaner but this was not a good sign. The photos speak volumes.... read more

Bad. Very bad. Had one really bad surgery there. Never again. We live here year round and I prefer to drive close to an hour and a half to Falmouth, rather than deal with the Cape Cod Hospital ER. The doctors are arrogant and condescending. If you are a celebrity, or obviously monied you are below their notice. Sorry, the truth hurts. The nurses try, but they are taxed beyond capacity. We arrived this afternoon from Urgent Care... And waited 90 minutes to get in from the lobby. If you need surgery, schedule EARLY. They shut down the recovery unit (stage one) around 4,and they will hustle you to the next stage without thought of mercy. Yes, I told them. To my knowledge nothing has improved. So skip the Hyannis facility. read more

I left my gallbladder in Cape Cod. Seriously, I like this hospital. Had to make a surprise visit here after having an attack in Provincetown. Everyone here has been nice. They bring me ice cream whenever I want. 5/5 would definitely have organs removed here again. read more

Dr McCarthy is old fashioned and he doesn't diagnose multiple sclerosis in women. Instead he puts them on wrong medication and sends them home in pain. He does NOT allow his patients to switch doctors or get a second opinion. He will not refer a patient to a different neurologist in his own clinic because he doesn't want anyone to disprove his diagnosis. He is an old, bad neurologist and should retire and stop taking money for bad work. Seriously. Don't go to him if you have a choice. God bless you. After a family members of ours had a neck surgery at this hospital, she spent a few days recovering here as well. The hospital itself is gorgeous and the whole building has recently been remodeled. Parking was a bit of a pain, but that is due to how busy this hospital gets. The surgical team at this hospital was incredible and the surgery went off without any issues. While checking in to visit our family member, the check-in staff was extremely polite and helpful. When it came to my aunts recovery in the hospital there were definitely highs and lows. The nursing staff was great, but on a few different occasions they were a bit slow which made my aunt uncomfortable. That being said, there were only a few of these incidents which happened at night. In the end, we loved visiting this hospital and we were happy with the overall patient treatment here. read more

Just got back from a visit to cch er for my husbands back pain. I wasnt allowed back with him which isnt really a thing, but wouldve been nice. He called me not even 15 mins later and said be out in a few minutes. I said WHy. he replied i dunno fast? he came out , they did no xrays or mri gave him script for pain meds and sent him on his way. Wth? he never goes to the dr or hospital so i know he was in pain and pretty much gets drugs and sent away. read more

Over an 8 hour wait in the ER waiting room!!! Mom was brought in via EMT, THANK GOD. But the 10 hours in the ER with no food, no water (I had to go out into Hyannis to get food and water for her), no pillows!!!, never gave her pain medication, (she was doubled over in such pain. Then when we asked when she would be getting any pain relief, the nurses would say oh, we'll get to it. After the third time asking, the nurses were outright rude to us for even asking again!!! This is the fourth time Mom has been in the ER of CCH. Each time it gets worse and worse!!! If you can get off Cape then go to one of the hospitals off Cape. Avoid CCH!! read more

I simply cannot believe how absurd this is. I have had plenty of people assume my cultural background, often incorrectly. However, they are not my medical provider, so it makes no matter. Upon reviewing my files via the Portal I found myself listed as "Pakistani" - I AM NOT PAKISTANI! I am appalled that they would guess my cultural background when I clearly indicated "Other" - but then ALSO put it into my file?! Are you kidding me?? How absolutely abhorrently unprofessional and inaccurate. I tried contacting someone to change this & she initially laughed. Told me I would have to submit a paper form to change it. I asked why I would have to submit a paper form when I was never the one to put it into my file? Shouldn't the fact that I am not Pakistani be enough? After informing her that I would also like to file a complaint against whomever put it into my file she put me on hold to come on and tell me in fact I do NOT have to file out a paper form, but I need to contact the Patient Advocate. I called twice (just in case she really was away from the desk/busy, as it was during her work hours), left a message once, and have yet to hear back. So here it is, my first ever Yelp review. All because my medical providers on Cape Cod tried and failed to guess my race. Just absurd. read more

They took care of my mother who went in for her appendix that bursted. They did everything they could to help her out and flush her system out and plan for surgery in the future. this is an update to my previous review. The staff at the hospital were great but who you have to deal with after are terrible. I have been dealing with the billing and medical records department for months now trying to give them my insurance to cover my bill. Cape Cod Hospital has been so unhelpful, rude and it honestly seems like they have no idea what they're doing. I've called so many times and every time a person tells me a different thing. The medical records department have the rudest women working there who do not want to help you and basically hang up on you. Terrible customer service. read more
