They're pretty much rock stars in the custom and tactical knife world, but they are very down to earth and treat every customer with dignity, respect, and give you the benefit of the doubt. Their production line is fantastic... I have many friends with Emerson Knives and I've enjoyed trying out each and every one of them. Their custom line is just a step above the rest. Difficult to acquire, a closed order book, requires you to sign up for lotteries and shows in the hopes that you acquire one at the reasonable table price of between $650-$850. Otherwise, you will be paying a premium from a third party dealer of between $900 to $3000 depending on the knife in question. In fact for some of the rarer customs the prices will skyrocket beyond that upper limit I just mentioned. One day I will win a lottery custom...and I will be ecstatic. =) read more

5 Stars for the CQC 15 knife, 0 stars for customer service. To obtain the answer to a very simple question I used the contact form on their website. 2 weeks later, zero response. I the called and spoke with a young lady who apparently knew absolutely nothing about anything. She was not unfriendly or hostile, just totally clueless. I requested that she have somebody at Emerson contact me with an answer to my question. After 2 more weeks, still zero response. So, I have to ask - why does Emerson even claim to have a customer service section? It is completely useless and a waste of time. As stated, I like my CQC 15 but, based on this experience, will make no future purchases from Emerson. There are too many other quality knife makers who actually value their customers for me to do so. read more

I had plans today to go to Emerson knives in Harbor City to have my Emerson CQC8 sharpened. On my way there I received a call which kind of ruined my day, and when I arrived at Emerson Knifes I was not in the best mood. I misunderstood what the lady had told me on the phone, and found myself once again, in a bad spot, I explained to the lady that I would be happy to wait outside while the staff went on break to get my knife sharpened only to find out that in reality it was about a two week wait to get your knife sharpened. I'm not sure of the ladies name that was helping me in the front, but she excuse herself and another lady came out from the back her name was Rachel. She turned out to be the owners daughter I explain to her why I was having a bad day, and that it would be really hard for me to hang around and wait a couple of weeks to have my knife sharpened. They asked me to hold on for a few minutes and I did. They then proceeded to come back out with my knife completely refurbished. They did what's called a spa treatment on my knife, replace all the screws, sharpened it, cleaned it up to make it look amazing like it was the day that I got it, I know that this is a long review but it's important to know that this lady went out of her way to make sure that her customer was completely satisfied. I ended up purchasing other stuff while I waited and I just purchased another knife online. I am a BIG fan of Emerson Knives. The trademark design of the "wave shape feature" is such a simple design yet HIGHLY effective in rapid deployment. My first Emerson knife was the infamous CQC-7B with the wave feature and I am happy to say that I will not go anywhere without this knife. It could very well be the last brand/model/style knife that I will ever own. Their knives are impeccably sharp and the rapid deployment of the knives with the wave feature is none comparable. You literally pull the knife out of your pocket and as it is retracted.. the knife's wave feature catches the edge of your pocket and unfolds open in one swift action allowing the user to be at the ready in a moment's notice. In the time it takes someone to rapidly deploy a standard folding knife.. the Emerson knives with the wave feature can be deployed in less than half the time. The knives are solid, durable and simple in design. A lot of military, law enforcement and government agencies are being turned on to the Emerson knives with the wave feature simply because of how great a knife it is. The joint in the knife has a smooth and fluid action when being opened.. the locking mechanism is a butterfly-style lock made of aerospace grade titanium (which I'm usually not a big fan of butterfly-locks, but the ones used in Emerson knives are very solid and have no play when fully locked open -- which I am satisfied with). The grip is a simple flat textured G-10 epoxy/glass laminate that's highly resistant to scratching and damage. The knife is overall fairly light-weight but has a very solid feel to it. The blade itself has no play on the vertical or horizontal plane when completely folded, locked open, or partially open. I couldn't be happier with a pocket-sized folding knife. Although the price tag is a little high for your average folding knife.. it is WELL worth the $. It has become one of the best investments I have ever made for a knife.. and the most important tool in survival gear and general use. read more

After me and my husband were in Los Angeles we realize we had some time to kill and since my husband collects and uses knives we decided we had to go and purchase a knife directly from Emerson. It's quite embarrassing to say that we collect knives however this was our fist Emerson, originally my husband wanted a cqc-7 but when he saw this od green roadhouse he had to have it! The knife itself is FANTASTIC! Feels good in his hands and looks and feels extremely durable, you can definitely see the quality, the g10 is very grippy, the waive feature works like a dream, faster than an auto. We would've loved to meet Mr Emerson, however he is hopefully enjoying his vacation. Prior to purchasing this knife my husband did read about Mr Emerson and we both truly admire him and his work! First time Emerson knife owner as of last week. I waited 4 years for my wait list email. Fast forward a week and I'm on vacation with in 1 hour of Emerson's "showroom" so I decided to stop in and see where my long awaited purchase was made. Got there around 10:30 (opens at 9) door locked and lights off. We rang the door bell and were buzzed in. A younger lady met us while complaining the interior door was locked to a coworker. Standing at the counter I inquired about a shirt I saw online and she left to check if they had stock. Upon returning with the shirt I asked about a purchasing another item and she walked out of the room and huffed at someone saying "he wants to change the invoice now". Totally unprofessional. If you don't want to deal with customers face to face then close your showroom and stay online. I felt like I was inconvenienceing everyone at the shop. I want expecting a tour or anything but I'm a first time customer that will now look other places for my edc cutlery needs. read more

Everyone already knows the quality of Emerson's Knives, just do any google and forum search, and its filled with reviews by people who trust it with their lives. I wanted to talk a little bit about the store and Mr. Emerson himself. I went down to this store to buy a birthday gift for a friend and the store was great. You get face to face view of all the different knives available and can hold and feel them before making the actual purchase. They have a couple accessories and merchandise as well there including styled clips, lanyards, hats, shirts, etc. The main thing I wanted to say though was that I had the pleasure of meeting the legend himself, Ernest Emerson, at the store. It was such a pleasure, he was just a truly nice guy who you can tell appreciates the people that use his products. He was a busy guy and obviously had things to do that day, but he still wanted to take the time out and chat a bit with a fan. I now can tell my friends I have a picture with the legend who makes knives for Navy Seals and NASA astronauts. Nothing but good things to say about the experience. He also mentioned they got new stuff coming out this or next year and it's going to be exciting. I don't know what it is yet, but I'll be on the lookout :) read more
