My 1st Navajo Taco

These guys are AWESOME!!! I work at PIMC and these guys usually come by for an hour or two. They only stay for an hour or two because they sell out that quick. We have people working in the hospital that will look out for this truck and then run down to it as soon as it arrives. When I told people I wanted to try this place for a Navajo Taco, they told me I need to be ready to run out there when they're spotted because lines form real quick. I got a Navajo Taco which, for those that don't know, is a fry bread (fried bread that's soft and chewy) base with taco ingredients on top consisting of ground beef, kidney beans, lettuce, tomato, and onions. The taco is huge! It was my first time with this behemoth and I spend a good few minutes trying to figure out how to eat it. The plasticware wasn't strong enough to cut it, so I ended up just picking it up like a huge taco and eating it. This thing is very big! It takes up the entire container they put it in. I also got a prickly pear lemonade and it was AMAZING!!! Very satisfying and refreshing on a hot Phoenix day. I paid $10 for the taco and $7 for the lemonade. It was a little pricier than I was hoping to pay, but a nice little treat to break up my usual tuna and rice lunch while at the hospital. These guys look like a little family that runs this food truck, so support small business and give these guys a go if you see them in your part of town!

Jazzy - carne asada Indian taco
Timothy C.

I wandered up to the Emerson Fry Bread food truck at the Peoria Farmer's Market needing a quick lunch - I ordered a carne asada fry bread 'Indian taco' nomikered "Jazzy." In a few minutes my name was called, and I was handed what I can only describe as a chalupa on steroids. It was as big as personal pizza, smelled of dough and oil and spices, and instantly made me worry that I didn't know how to eat it without dropping it on the asphalt. Now, maybe you're thinking that a standard Taco Bell chalupa won't appeal to you. Not so. If you weren't a fan of chalupas, no matter - this fry bread is infinitely better than a chalupa shell, I'd say the worst fry bread might be better than the best chalupa shell, and THIS bread was expertly fried to order, fluffy and pillowy. If you like chalupas, well, sorry to say, this fry bread taco might ruin them for you! Carne asada topped with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, and some salsa on the side - simple ingredients, but really good and combined correctly. My only qualm, it was a tad too leaky, made a right mess of my hands, but I stuck it out like a champ until every bite was gone. Luckily I had some wipes on hand. Yummy!

Vegetarian fry bread & Sunset lemonade

My nephew was talking about this food truck telling me it was great fry bread, lo & behold he let me know it was in my neighborhood that night so we went right over to pick up dinner! Loved them, dough was light & airy not dense! We had 2 vegetarian & 1 W/meat, beans were good. I tried a sunset lemonade & it also was delicious. I love how they serve it in a large Mason jar that's yours to keep & also our food was put in an insulated hot cold reusable bag, recycle & reuse

Vegetarian fry bread without dairy -$6

This food truck came to my work and I was intrigued so I had to try it. I really enjoyed my fry bread! I ordered the vegetarian option without any cheese or sour cream, so it was basically beans, salad, and salsa. I wish there had been slightly more beans on my fry bread, but it was still really filling and a nice change of pace from my usual lunch. I would definitely eat here again and maybe next time try their interesting-looking lemonades.

I finally broke down and tried Emerson's at the feast on the street - had the D$. Wasnt too shabby! Honestly, I was surprised. Had them again at the PPM this last Wednesday and cant remember the name of what I had, but it had green chili on it..along with the spring mix and beans, etc. Again...not to shabby! I'm sure if ever I'm wanting a change in my truck lineup eats, I'll get fry bread from Emerson's again!

Mutton sandwich

I absolutely LOVE mutton and frybread and always support all the local sellers when they have their mutton/frybread sales. Luckily, everything's been decent enough to recommend and advertise but, unfortunately, that was until today. I posted a picture on FB and found others agreeing with me which I thought was odd since all I ever saw were rave reviews on this food truck. So here were a few things I experienced with my mutton sandwich: 1. An undercooked, crunchy potato 2. Super dense, thick frybread 3. And dried, chewy, overcooked mutton Just to relay, here in the city, my expectations of authenticity on "native" food are super minimal but every seller has always received my advertisement or recommendation. But with Emerson's, I'm sorry. I just couldn't. To start, my potato was crunchy on the narrow end but mushy on the thick end which was odd. (Stirring 'tatoes is always a must if you're not filling the pot with water.) Frybread should always be light and fluffy with a just a little bit of crisp in the middle. (It took a while to chew down the frybread to swallow so maybe a flour change or an under/overkneading fix or maybe just an over-flouring issue. Idk.) Overcooked mutton... ugh, this was when I died of disappointment and couldn't finish this review.

Yummy Navajo burgers, frybread & their mason jar drinks are delicious! Love that they have been coming to PIMC on fridays!

This is the "Jazzy". It has grilled steak, beans, and spring mix topped with pico de gallo and chipotle sauce on fry bread.

Every Thursday we get food trucks outside my office building in central Phoenix. Emerson started coming around recently and I'm so glad they did. Incredible fry bread made fresh topped with fresh and flavorful ingredients. I went for broke the first time I got lunch from them and tried the Jazzy which has grilled steak, beans, and a spring mix with pico de gallo and chipotle sauce on fry bread, a surprising combination that worked really well. The bread itself is the best I've ever had, very light and tasty. I've also had the Yolli, a more traditional beans and cheese dish which was quite good. Do yourself a favor. If you see them at a food truck gathering or special event, get there early and feed your face.

Rude service people. Overpriced food. Was a waste of my time and money. They took forever and had no organization with their orders.

Honestly, my favorite burger I've ever had. You can really taste the quality of each ingredient,…read moretheir Wagyu patty is actually so worth the 30 minute line. I did get the spicy viva burger to try as well, and didn't like it as much. It lacked depth of flavor and kinda just tasted spicy. Still a solid burger of course, but I would go back to the classic ones next time. During lent, they had their fish sandwich, which was INSANE. The best one we have ever had. The fish was crispy on the outside, flakey and buttery on the inside. The tartar sauce was perfectly tart and balanced the whole thing. I AM PRAYINGG it comes back for times other than lent. Ruined every other fish sandwich for me. We tried their fries both times we went, and honestly not a fan. They're beef tallow fries so they're supposedly "better" but they were pretty hard and oily, and have the meat taste from the beef tallow that I don't like, I would skip these. People start lining up before the truck opens so I suggest getting there 20 minutes early for quick service, otherwise you'll be looking at an hourish wait. But trust me, it's worth it

My friends and I arrived about 20 minutes before the truck opened, and there were already a few people standing in line. The line moved pretty quickly, and the total time from ordering and receiving our food was only about 15 minutes. At this time, the line wrapped around the truck. The food came out hot and fresh. Filet-o-fish is one of my favorites of all time, and the filet de fish did not disappoint at all! The first bite had us levitating and seeing stars. The tartare sauce that the fried fish was smothered in was delicious and creamy, and the fish fillet itself was tender and flaky. The toasted and soft Japanese bun was the cherry on top. Simple and comforting and nostalgic, but elevated in the best way. We also tried their popular Viva Mexico, but we felt like it lacked in flavor and only tasted spicy, if that makes sense. Beef tallow fries were okay and not anything special. Great portions, however, it was still pretty expensive for a food truck burger. I'm glad I got to try this place out and will be back if the filet de fish hits the menu again, and would try their Signature next time.
