On a Monday a couple days before Christmas with nowhere else to go, I brought my fur kid here. Reviews had me a bit worried. So, I thought I should write my own review so others wont be worried. I have a federal license to have exotic animals for educational purposes and my fennec fox became ill at one of the worst times. Vets that can treat them are limited even at the best of times. His usual vet was unavailable and after some calls around I was suggested to call here. It was new news to me that they except exotics now. I called first and came in when they said the exotic vet started his shift. They took him in back right away while I filled out the paperwork. There was a wait of course since it's an ER for animals but I wasn't focused on the time. I've waited longer in other situations. It'll depend what cases are showing up. Everyone was nice. The vet tech took a through history. The vet was knowledgeable and explained things clearly. He even had the fennec reference ranges, but I had brought my copy that I have, since that's not always the case for exotics. They sent regular photo updates while he was hospitalized, so I included a couple. They also encouraged my visiting him or calling. He came home after a day and a half and is improving. As far as cost, it was actually not that bad. I'd say it's about on par with the current pricing at my regular vet, if we had to do that many tests, treatment and hospitalization. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. DO NOT GO HERE!! It's a $500 deposit just to get in the door and get your pet seen which is insane in itself. We paid and then proceeded to wait for 4 hours to get a diagnosis for urniary crystals for our male cat, which we already knew! We then waited another 2 hours to get a quote for $5000 to save our cats life. Vet tech was very impersonal and made the already stressful situation even more stressful. We ended up driving to Roseburg and got seen at a small vet down there and a sweet old vet saved our cats life WITHOUT a $5000 surgery for $150 BUCKS!! THIS PLACE SUCKS!! read more

On July 13th, I took my French Bulldog to the emergency vet because he had stopped eating and was acting out of the ordinary. I dropped him off in the morning, and everything seemed okay. However, around 6:30 PM, I received a call from the veterinarian informing me that I could come pick him up, but they wanted to administer more fluids and check on him a bit longer. I arrived an hour later, only to find myself in a chaotic waiting room with a lot of distressing events unfolding around us. After waiting for 45 minutes, I overheard through the walls that my dog was not breathing. A nurse eventually came in, looking very unsettled, and started to explain the medications we would need to give him at home. Then, a different staff member, who had previously shared sensitive information about other pets, stormed into the room, rushed us into another area, threw a box of tissues at me, and informed us that they were performing CPR on Beo. As a French Bulldog owner, I want to share this experience to highlight the importance of proper care and communication at veterinary hospitals. The fact that my dog was sedated twice in one day without proper monitoring is unacceptable. I believe that transparency and accountability are crucial in such situations. Please ensure that your pets receive the care and respect they deserve. This facility failed my dog and we're one less family member in our household. ER customer service was as expected for the price. Very comfortable for 80 pound puppy with broken leg. She spent the night and was referred to surgery directly across street. That was convenient for me and ambulatory care for puppy. Would recommend to anyone for ER services. She's looking good on 3rd week. read more

Everybody here was incredibly kind. they even took us into a room preliminarily to let us know that we would be seeing some kind of traumatic things coming in and out of the emergency room while we waited, and I very much appreciated the heads up. We had to bring our cat here because we didn't realize that she had failing kidneys. After a very, very hard decision, we opted to put our sweet Sophie kitty to sleep. The attending doctor was incredibly wonderful, and they bundled our little kitty up perfectly for burial. They even sent us a beautiful follow up sympathy card. Dr. Steffen and the EVH Staff went above and way beyond the call of duty concerning my pup Opie. They truely loved and cared.

I came her about a year ago with my pug who had swallowed medications. I had no money for an exam at the time and they still checked her out for me and put her on fluids and made sure she was okay to go home. I'll never forget that. Complete incompetence and gross negligence. IMO Brought in my dog for violent sneezing. Drs tried to convince me it was coughing and that my dog had a collapsed trachea. He was put on at least 6 medications. Advised to go home and go to specialist for surgery. My dog was worse than ever at home, could hardly walk, had to pick him up to go potty. His tongue was constantly purple. I returned him to the same vet. She tried to get him into emergency trachea surgery. She told me that if she got him into this surgeon, to stop saying he's sneezing, otherwise the Dr will turn me away. Ultimately the surgeon said his heart was too enlarged and would not do surgery. The vet recommended euthanasia. She (the vet) wanted to euthanize him that day. But said I had the option of putting him on steroids. My gut was telling me there is something wrong. Took home the steroids with very little improvement. A light bulb went off in my head to YouTube his symptoms. I found other reasons for sneezing and took him to Echo hollow vets. Dr. Hoffmann was wonderful. She knew immediately that he had an abscessed tooth. She went through his meds. They were lowering his blood pressure to dangerous levels and took him off 5 meds. She gave me antibiotics and he immediately improved. She saved my dogs life. Ollie got his tooth pulled and is doing great. What a horrible and stressful nightmare. Please be careful read more

Wish I could leave 0 stars but it won't let me. My 1-year-old pug has bad skin allergies. Yesterday he chewed his paw so badly he couldn't walk on it. We took him to the Emergency Veterinary Hospital in hopes of getting him help. Saw the nurse who told us the vet would come get us shortly. We sat in the waiting room for an hour (I know because I checked the time I sent an update text to a family member) and watched as two other dogs checked in and got care (one of them being a wiener dog who just needed stitches removed). In the end, we set up another appointment somewhere else because the nurse said our dog limping wasn't "as big of an emergency so he is at the bottom of the list." Brought our dog in for an serious emergency and the staff was professional, well spoken, educated and caring. Vets and techs answered all our questions and concerns. There are only two Emergency Vets in this area that are 24hrs and the other place never even bothered to return our phone call. This place was very clean and took care of their pet owners as well considering you may be here for hours (which we were) while even providing free small treats/snacks as you wait. Highly recommended and will be returning if necessary. Fairly priced and did not feel nickel and dimed. The other reviews here regarding wait times are completely ridiculous, this is an emergency vet hospital and staff prioritize/treat according to severity of injury, not first come first served. ZERO STARS. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. I rushed my dog into the vet at 9:00pm for bloody diarrhea, and not eating it drinking. (For two days) I waited 5 hours before even speaking to a doctor! I was exhausted. It was 2:00 in the morning and the doctor who I was speaking too made absolutely no sense and was feeding me so much bullsh*t I could barely get a word in. He was trying to say my dog might have some sort of gastrointestinal hernia, and they want to keep her over night to monitor, give her fluid and anti nausea meds. Oh by the way that's going to cost you over $700 but NOT including any anti diarrhea medications or the overnight stay. I said what the hell??? I told them I would like to come up with a treatment plan where I can take her home to monitor her, myself with a bland diet, but return her if she gets any more concerning BECAUSE SHE HAS A SENSITIVE GUT AND THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. (Little did they know my plan was to immediately take her elsewhere as I had ALREADY SPENT 5+ hours there and they didn't even offer her IV FLUID & were NOT addressing the diarrhea problem.) TO ME THAT IS SO NEGLIGENT TO LEAVE A DOG IN A KENNEL THAT HASN'T EATEN OR DRINK IN TWO DAYS AND NOT OFFER IV FLUIDS IMMEDIATELY. I told the vet who I was speaking to that i would like some anti diarrhea medication because she is having a sensitive stomach. I know my dog better than anyone else. He completely disregarded that option and was so rude, saying how her condition couldn't get anymore "concerning" and completely bypassed what I had to say. He seemed EXTREMELY entitled and kept pushing an insane treatment plan that to me personally made no f***** sense. I eventually got him to agree to write out a out of hospital plan for me, but never actually got the plan. He told me he would have it to me momentarily but I ended up waiting an hour before I decided this place was not for me, and I was beginning to feel like my dog was going to be killed for being misdiagnosed. I knew right then if I were to wait for this "at home treatment plan" I would have EASILY been there until 6:00AM, as I felt Remi was being pushed to the side as others were more important and crucial. My dog had bloody diarrhea but that's ok, she will live right?! I felt I could be more proactive at home with getting fluids in her body and finding another emergency vet that was more compassionate, and proactive with her current state. It didn't help that the atmosphere was unsettling. There was multiple other people causing a scene in the parking lot with one of the vet staff and I even witnessed a large breed deceased canine in a cardboard casket being carried out. The staff carrying the casket looked happy as ever and less than compassionate towards the owner who was in complete disbelief. To back up a little bit- My dog is a chihuahua who was given new treats. BARKBOX Brand. She was not vomiting. She had diarrhea going on three days with traces of blood from inflammation. I'm no vet but this isn't my first rodeo. She has had episodes before and I knew she just needed some anti diarrhea medication and they REFUSED to give me that. I was at this vet clinic from 9:00pm until 3:30am. After deciding that vet wasn't for me i demanded that I take my dog home and handed the male receptionist my credit card for the $159.00 EXAM FEE, that got me absolutely NOWHERE. I am pleased to say, I took my dog to Wilvet and had a wonderful experience. They listened and I didn't have to pay out the rear to have a treatment plan & medication. Remi received blood work, at an affordable cost, got anti diarrhea medication, a fecal sample, and a new wet food diet sent home to help ease her digestive tract back to normal. After ONE DOSE of her medication she is having soft poo. Not liquid, and not bloody. I know my dog. Please- please listen to the owners when they are giving a suggestion or asking for a certain medication that has helped their dog in the past. Stop being crooks. Remi deserved a lot better. You can take your $159.00 and shove it. Do better! read more

I came here with my friend to pick up her dog after he had spent the day here due to not acting/feeling well and not eating. We showed up around 7:45pm and waited about 45 minutes for discharge paperwork and medication- which was fine, I understand places like this being busy at times. However, things seemed to not add up as we were rushed into another room and told her dog had coded and they were performing CPR. This was a shocking and jarring experience after being told and expecting to be taking Beo home that night and that he was doing fine. My friend lost a very loved family member that day and the "story" of him suddenly not breathing seemed to be due to negligence from veterinary staff. We were told they didn't know why he had suddenly passed, however it seems as though he (a French bulldog) was put under sedation without proper monitoring. It was heartbreaking to witness my friend lose her beloved dog after being told he would be fine and to bring him home. This is one of the very limited options for vets providing emergency services and after this awful experience I believe there needs to be a higher standard of care provided to avoid tragic mistakes like this one. I also believe this hospital is more interested in squeezing all the money out that they can- which contributed to the loss of Beo. My friend paid in full before picking Beo up, only to be charged even further for the unsuccessful CPR they performed after he had passed. It was sickening all around and severely has affected my opinion of this hospital as an option for my own dog. read more

They wouldn't see her until I gave them a $2000 kept the next morning about 3 o'clock in the morning tell me I need to go down there with a credit card to make a payment went another $3000 Next get a call my you need to come make another I went and up my dog, and my dog was not in critical condition. This was the worst veterinary services I have ever experienced with any of my many animals I have had. They charged us for an exam that they did not do because "she was being squirmy". They wanted to charge us $600 for a 3/4 inch laceration and when we told them we could not afford the $400 blood panel, they said we were being unethical. We left that horrible place and took our cat to a vet the next day. They said she did not need a blood panel and stitched her up for $200 including the visit and they took a cyst out. Over charging people that are desperate and love their pets is unethical. Don't go here! Dr Naomi Johnson should not take care of animals. read more

I already wrote this review on google but I will do anything to bring this place down and bring awareness so other don't experience what I experienced. I want to first say DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. They do not care about anything but MONEY. We took our 9 month old cat here when he had pneumonia. He declined pretty quickly which racked up a very expensive vet bill. I understand needing to pay the price, but when compared to other vets this place up charged THOUSANDS. We couldn't afford his care, and by the time we decided we needed to move him some place else due to the costs, he was too sick to move hospitals. The way this vet went about it was the most disrespectful, disgusting, and DISTURBING process. They woke us up at 1am, telling us to pay up 13k or they wouldn't continue treatment. They would continue to call us every 20-30 minutes throughout the night, counting down the hours until they would stop caring for our baby. Keep in mind it was 1am, no other vet or clinic was open. They used that to their advantage and tried to gouge us for more and more money as the night went on, until it got so expensive and our cat got so bad, we had to make the ultimate decision of putting down a healthy young cat, all because they wouldn't wait or help us find resources to get him the affordable care he needed. THIS PLACE DOESNT CARE AND WOULD RATHER HAVE YOUR PET DIE THAN HELP YOU FIND AFFORDABLE CARE. THIS PLACE IS A DEATH WISH. read more

I have taken my dog there a couple of times for prolapse. Last Saturday we waited four hrs. After that they would not treat my dog Rudy. Because the vet didn't want to do the procedure, they told me that I had to take to the Hospital in Salem. And if I didn't Rudy would die. So at midnight I had to drive to Salem. Rudy was in pain and he cried all the way up. I didn't get home until 7 am Sunday. This is just a heads up. The people in Salem did very nice procedure and treated my little Rudy with care and tenderness. While the Springfield facility was not very apathetic. read more

My dog got into a fight on Wednesday September 1st at around 4:00pm. He ended up getting a 2 inch gash on his head. I took him to the emergency vet at 4:30pm and dropped him off. We are not allowed inside because of Covid. 2 hours later, I called them for an update on my dog. He had not been seen yet. I asked if he had at least received a pain shot. Nope. I was sitting outside so I offered to come in and give him one of his pain pills that I had on me. I wasn't allowed to do that. I was 6:30pm at this time. The receptionist said it would likely be another 4-5 hours so I went home. Around 7:00pm they called me to go over the quote and get my cc #. THIS IS THE ONLY TIME THEY CALLED ME BESIDES THE DOCTOR WHO CALLED ME THE NEXT MORNING WHEN HE WAS READY TO DISCHARGE!!!! I didn't hear from the ALL NIGHT LONG! I called them at 6:44am on Thursday the 2nd to get an update on my dog. They had NOT stitched him up!!! They said it would be soon, that's what they kept telling me. But they did assure me that he had received a pain shot the night before and was ok. I called again at 8:08am for another update and was told that the vet had just finished with him and that she'd be calling me soon. I called them at 9:24am. I told them that they'd had my dog for 16 hours and we were coming to get him so they'd better have him ready and was again assured that the vet would call me soon. Finally the vet called me at 10:01am and gave me the run down of his procedure. He only needed 2 staples. It took another 30 minutes to get him discharged. And....when we got him home, he was covered in dog poop!! The meds had made him a little incontinent so he went all over himself. We had to bathe him as soon as we got home. $600 for 16 hours, 2 staples and a poop covered dog. I pray to God that we'll never have an emergeny again. Now, I understand that there is a huge shortage of veterinarians around here and this is the ONLY emergency vet around, but come on!!! Hire some more people or something. At least have your receptionists call the owners with updates. Some veterinarians would make some serious bank if they opened additional emergency vets around here. Bottom line, if it's not a true emergency, don't come here. Wait and see your regular vet. If it is an emergency, just be prepared to wait hours and to receive no updates. read more

The treatment ended up taking twice as long as they quoted because they called the wrong phone number trying to contact me and sent treatment forms to the wrong email address. My Grand-daughter and I spent a very intense, emotionally fraught Sunday at the Emergency Hospital as our little puppy was being cared for. It could have been a miserable experience-- but the staff was excellent and our needs were fully attended to. Each of the staff members were helpful, courteous and professional. Noteworthy amongst staff is Marcy J.-- receptionist extraordinaire!! In the course of the 8+ hours we were at the hospital I witnessed Marcy wear a multiplicity of different "hats" so to speak... From traditional receptionist, to to janitor, to counselor, pet handler, financial advisor... Plus-- Marcy appeared to be training a newish staff member. I was impressed. In the midst of all of the busy, busy Sunday she even had the kindness to observe my stress and ask me "How are you doing?" Thank God for "old-school" customer service. Thank you, Marcy! read more

I cannot say enough about how kind and thoughtful the staff were to us through the loss of our 18 year old dog. They were all so compassionate (more than one of them teared up with us).
