I have had two pool projects accomplished over the last 6 years, and I can say that, in my opinion, my experience with Emerald Custom Pools (ECP) was less pleasant than the relationship I had with my previous builder whose whole team was outstanding and fully engaged. If I were to have another pool built in the DFW area it would not be with ECP. Regarding my experience with ECP: Sales - - Was told an apples-to-apples comparison with competitive bids...in my opinion, that did not happen and unfortunately, I did not notice until after contract signature. Pool Care - - ECP did a Pentair Warranty Claim for my faulty chlorinator, however, a used one was installed and when I questioned it I was told, "As the warranty station we decide the best course of action." (May 21, 2024) - Although I had received monthly pricing and was on track to continue pool service through ECP after the first free month, in my opinion that changed after I challenged a warranty claim because I suddenly received an email stating they would no longer be servicing my pool. (May 14, 2024) o According to Pebbletec, "Given the available information, it is clear that the initial start-up was not adjusted or maintained to the recommended parameters which contributed to the pool being turned over in the aggressive aforementioned. At the same time, the data from the ongoing maintenance of the pool post turnover also presented inconsistencies that could have contributed to the on-going condition of the finish in which Emerald first turned over." (July 15, 2025) To this day I still have an ongoing issue with my finish and in my opinion, the finish did not recover from the first month as the issues with the furnishing show back up two weeks after acid washing. Project Manager - - At some point during the process, I had to reach out to ECP (May 21,2024) because in my opinion my project had come to a halt. Come to find out, my Project Manager was no longer my Project Manager. Managers - - I would constantly have to ping via email or text for updates. - Prior to the first acid wash, I was dropped off a pump with instructions to put it in pool and turn it on (June 27, 2024), however, when another draining came up for a warranty work on the tile, I was told trained personnel had to accomplish the drain to prevent a possible "floating pool." However, when I expressed this concern, I received a "thanks for the feedback." (August, 28,2024) Warranty - - Cracked tile in the skimmer that ECP would correct under warranty but wanted to charge me to drain the pool and sign a waiver should they cause any other damage during the repair. One of ECP,s selling points was having an internal team with their pool builds, so exactly who else would be responsible for the damage? (August 23, 2024) Since my pool had already been drained for an acid wash previously, I left the tile as is. - Anytime I brought up an issue, ECP wanted a credit card on file in case of owner error...pool wasn't even a year old. - ECP did perform some repairs (chlorinator, leaky site glass, overflow drains, spring on gate), however, it was TNT Plastering that was great at honoring their warranty with multiple acid washes of the finish and repairs on mastic. Owner(s) - - I did not hear from them until I started having back-to-back conversations with ECP about multiple and continuous discrepancies. - When emails were sent regarding the condition of my pool, whether after the pool draining or being cut off from pool service, I wouldn't receive any real answer, just a "thanks for the feedback." In my opinion, although the price of pools has basically doubled over the past few years, the level of customer service I received is not commensurate. **All correspondence with ECP and Pebbletec have been saved** read more

If you are like us you are trying to find a pool company. Well stop and just go with Emerald. We talked with 5 other companies in DFW and they were the only ones that quoted us on budget and made us feel like family. Matt, our PM, was awesome, he spoke with me almost every day and kept feeding us updates through the whole process. Ed, designed something we couldn't of even imagined. The quality of work and professionalism makes me wonder how there are other companies that could compete. Also they do their own pool service too....so it's a win win. Called them a left message because we were ready for a pool. Never got a call back. guess they didn't want my business.

Did not show up for our appt on Sat. 3/5 after I drove 30 minutes (each way) to meet with them . Said they didn't have it in their appt book though they acknowledged we did have an appt. Said they'd waive the $200. design fee. Not reliable when trying to earn my business, why would they be reliable after they got my money. next! read more

I got a pool built by them and they are so flaky they say they will do things then they don't and then they don't fulfill things that were stated in the contract and they have even tried threatening US with lawsuits when THEY were the ones that weren't doing what was stated in the contract. It's a beautiful pool but it's horrible service I Do not recommend this to anyone. read more

Had them come out survey and send a quote. Saw an added charge of 5k for decking. Told Donnie didn't want to cover our backyard in concrete. Preferred to keep the lawn intact with a small egde around the pool and showed examples of what we wanted. He said fine but it would void warranty cause it protects the pipes incase anyone digs. No one else was going to be digging up my lawn besides them. Instead of coming to a compromise he and the GM came back and said they'd still charge us for decking and we'd still have no warranty. They said others have had pools built this way and paid that extra amount without decking and no warranty and were fine with it. Didn't mind the extra 3K charge which they quoted was due to inflation for price of gas and materials. Unwilling to meet the needs of a customer while unable to guarantee their work. If they wanted that extra amount just stick into the price of the pool itself. Extremely odd. We'll go elsewhere. read more

I have had my pool over a year. We do not have natural gas so we went propane. Everything seemed fine until I had several Propane company's come out and do a site survey. It was recommended by emerald that a 250 gallon tank was needed for the 400000 btu heater. It would be impossible to put in my yard. There are Texas regulations that have to be met. It would have been simple if emerald understood those regulations and planned the placement of the equipment. So now I stuck tiring to figure it out myself.... I just want to watch football from the hot tub. read more

We had quite a few bids for a pool and decided to go with Emerald Custom Pools because they advertised as having in house crews. We had a very positive experience with our build....before, during, and after. They were responsive, timely, and professional to deal with. They were great with trouble shooting some issues that popped up during the process (with any major construction there will always be some issues). They have also been great to deal with now that our pool is up and running. As we learn how to manage it and take care of it, there have been some minor issues with getting everything operating and Emerald has been right there with us. Building a pool for me was new and scary as it is a major ordeal, and I heard so many nightmare stories. But we had a very smooth process over all and they are still friendly and easy to work with. Our PM Matt was and still is very pleasant and professional, and always responsive to my many questions. And the whole process was completed during their promised time frame. Even the city inspector was impressed with how quick it was completed and he thought they did a very professional job. So that made me feel reassured as well. The company that does the pool school and pump care, Roper Pool has also been very responsive. This is our first pool and I bombarded them with text messages about this and that and they have also been great. We absolutely love our pool! We signed a contract with Emerald custom pool decided to go with another pool builder, after reviewing the contract and being overcharged, we decided to terminate the contract , The owner Kyle Burns wanted to charge us $1200 to terminate the contract but in this contract it states nothing about a $1200 fee for canceling we asked for an itemized bill as a breakdown to what he was charging us he refused to send it and only sent an invoice with a $1200 fee for termination of contract with no explanation at all, he also went as far as a threaten us with a lawsuit he called the new pool builder threaten him and wanted to have meeting with him , he also called Oncor to try to stop approval of our new builders design plans to try to hold us up , we would've been happy to pay for what we owe but he didn't want to send us an itemized bill and in his contract It didn't have a cancellation fee but he still wants to charge us $1200 read more

We love our new pool put in by Emerald Custom Pools! We decided to go straight to them after we got a raving review about them from a friend who had their pool put in. They had actually talked to other pool companies and decided that Emerald Custom Pools was the best choice to go with. We loved the look of their pool and they were pleased with the work, so we decided to go with Emerald Custom Pools. Kyle, the owner, was very professional and thorough with the whole process of explaining cost and timelines. They stayed on schedule (barring the weather conditions) and were ready to work first thing each morning. The workers were respectful and diligent about cleaning the area before they left for the day. Justin was our project manager and he made himself very available for any questions or concerns we had along the way. Emerald Custom Pools also gave us instructions on how to maintain our new pool which was very helpful.
