EMERALD CITY SMOOTHIE @ KIRKLAND Came here to bring my team and I some fresh smoothie drinks for a work meeting. Extremely difficult time to get parking as this place is inconvenient at the main roads of Downtown Kirkland, so snatching a spot would be pulling to the side to parallel. I'd recommend parking near the Shell for street then walking down. Staff wasn't the most friendly, as a first timer I've never tried any of their drinks before, there wasn't a greeting or at least a "if you have any questions" - and the price itself was on the higher note of $8-$10 for a smoothie. I really liked how they organized the menu to where your goal would fit the perfect smoothie, some labeled as "Boost your immune system" or "Bulk Me up" it was clever. I decided to go for the Green Goddess, and it had lots of ingredients in it that was shown. The place was on the smaller side, there wasn't another customer present, but not much space to stand around or really sit. Always a kirkland staple! I've been popping in here for years (even their old location) for a quick smoothie pickup after a workout. They have a ton of options and you can always customize. I have a nut allergy but have never had any cross contamination issues after giving them a heads up each time. Staff are meh on friendlies, hence the star ding. But the place fills the smoothie need. Terrible experience from the minute we walked in. No greeting. No acknowledgement whatsoever that we were even there. I even said "hi," but nothing. The girl working behind the counter was finishing up an order for another customer, but once she was done, she went straight to the back and when she came back out, I thought we could order. Nope. This is my favorite Emerald City location. They are thoughtful about how they make my smoothie and friendly when I pick it up. Sometimes I check mark something incorrectly and they either check with me about it or know me well enough to adjust it according to what they think I want. I cannot believe I've lived here for 30 years and never been to ECS! I walked in, and the two employees and I had a good laugh about it. They said I came in at the right time because they're two of the veteran employees. They helped me pick a smoothie based on flavor profile, and what I was looking for as far as nutrition (I needed a lot of protein) and their suggestion was spot on! When you say "apple" but what you actually mean is apple juice the result is something not as healthy or calorie deficient as one would assume. I used to go to Plantiful for my acai bowl, and I had kept thinking it was too expensive, until it was gone and so I tried Emerald City for the first time. After blending the acai smoothie, they added a lot of ice cubes to blend it again. Why watering it down? I used to get slices of a whole strawberry from Plantiful, now just a few tiny pieces of diced strawberry, not even a quarter of a strawberry. Same with everything else. Needless to say, it was bland and boring. I get acai bowl wherever I can, here is the lowest quality ever. :( read more

Alright, still not sure if all of their ingredients are the cleanest, but I wanted to update my review because my boyfriend and I went twice this past weekend to grab some smoothies. We got some coupons in a Valpak, and we had a very busy weekend, so we thought picking up smoothies would be quick, easy, and moderately health conscious (especially compared to other quick and easy takeout breakfast options). The Zone Zinger is too good. I ordered that both days. It is tangy and sweet and delicious. There's lemon and cranberry in it which adds that sourness and tartness that makes you want to slurp the whole smoothie down in 10 seconds lol. It also has strawberry, papaya, protein, multivitamins, and flax. I added a scoop of collagen to mine as well. It definitely doesn't taste like 100% all natural fruit... still curious to know what the ingredient details are... but the consistency is pretty awesome. It's not too thick to drink through a straw, but it's not so thin that it's water-like or anything like that. It's the perfect thickness. My boyfriend ordered the Power Fuel both times. It's also absolutely delicious. It's a strawberry banana smoothie with "recovery" and protein as well. He also added a scoop of collagen into his smoothie. It's like your classic, delicious strawberry banana smoothie (which I find to be one of the most dependable and delicious flavor combinations...). Pretty much all of their smoothies sound good, and they have so many different options to choose from -- you can really get whatever you're looking for. They also have açaí bowls, wellness boosters, and a variety of supplements available for purchase. This location has always been clean and service has been great. read more

Smoothies have become one of my ways to get a lunch or after-meal snack that's quick, refreshing, healthy, and reasonably priced. When I elect to go this route, my preference of brand and location is the Emerald City Smoothie off Central Way in Kirkland. Smoothies: There's a ton of flavors available here, I'd say probably 25 or so, and it's a huge variety. Honestly no matter what your preference is on fruit you're going to be able to find something you like. Do you want a smoothie starring lemon? No problem. Berries? Of course. Bananas? No problem. Peanut butter? Yep. There's plenty of blends so you're not stuck with one particular fruit (unless you choose to). Insider Tip: If you like acai the Sambazon is fantastic. On top of the general selections, you can customize a bit by substituting in different types of milk--such as soy or almond or adding in"boosts" such as caffeine, bee pollen, vitamins etc.. You also, of course, have the usual proteins you can add to either the fruit smoothies or the traditional vanilla/chocolate (or peanut butter) route. This allows you tailor things to your taste, diet restrictions, and health concerns/interests. A visit to the shop can both cater to someone trying to pack on lean pounds or lose them. Once you've made your selections you can feel quite confident that it's going to come out tasting great, and at this location, very consistent from day-to-day or week-to-week. Honestly you can go to other smoothie spots, order the exact same thing twice, and have a great experience one time, and have something that tastes like sugar flavored ice the next time. Consistency is key and this place has got it in spades. Last thing to mention, there are some healthy snacks the line the front of the counter, along with some protein powders as well. There's some interesting bars (good for hiking/cycling) as well as some unique jerky. Try to the Ostrim ostrich if you haven't done it--lean, not to gamy, and a good spicy taste. Location & Service: Right off of 85th as you make your way to downtown Kirkland you'll find Emerald City Smoothie on your right. You'll need to keep a sharp eye out the first time you go (it's between 3rd and 4th) It's a new location, taking over for the old location that once was in the Park Place lot (almost across the street). Street parking is generally available throughout the day, but you've also got a garage just slightly past the shop itself. Inside, the store gets good lighting, and has plenty of space (doesn't feel cramped). You can sit outside if you want on a nice sunny day, and the location is actually perfect to make a quick trek into downtown Kirkland, which is really a great city/town to visit on foot in the summer. Service is fantastic from the top down and it shows with: 1. Friendliness of staff 2. Ability to explain options/menu 3. Consistency of smoothies 4. Efficiency of getting people service 5. Ability to modify smoothies to your preferences These five things, on top of the product itself, make it a welcome stop during my busy work day. There's something to be said for professionalism. Final Thoughts: This is my favorite smoothie shop in the Greater Seattle area because of the variety, consistency, and quick/friendly service. If you're in the area give it a try. -AC read more

My favorite smoothie here, after trying to narrow down my perfect drink, is The Emerald with Peanut Butter and Whey Protein. Micah, who works here actually is the one who recommended it to me. Micah is always playing some great music when I walk in, and knows my order before I even need to tell him. Ever since their change in location to across the street, I still visit here as often as I did. It's still the same lady's that have always worked there, which I appreciate and definitely shows the integrity of the company. One star is deducted because of the parking availability. They said their working on spots in the neighboring apartment garage, but I haven't heard any updates about that. The last time I parked in there, I recieved a warning ticket saying I couldnt. My most recent fave is their Coconut flavor! I think I've even dreamt about it....DELICIOUS. They have great combos and I usually add one or two additional supplements. I walked in here to grab a quick drink before heading to my shift at Zeeks Pizza and was greeted by a cute and friendly girl. I ordered my smoothie (which was delicious by the way) while we chatted a bit before I had to leave to start my shift. Though, as I was leaving the shop I realized I made the stupid mistake of not asking for her number. I don't know what is up Emerald City Smoothie, so far I've been to the one in Issaquah and now Kirkland and either they don't believe in Customer Service or they purposely hire people that don't wanna help someone. I've only been to the smoothie place once before so I am not sure what is good what's not. I asked the girl if they had something with peanut butter, and before I could get out something else out , she was quick with a snappy response "well yea we have alot of peanut butter options look"... oh okay I picked one and wanted to add supplements but didn't know when to say something she huffed and started to make it.. Ok guys, this is the place to get your smoothie. Forget the others. Jamba what? Gross. Here, they use REAL FRUIT. Everything is not just "from concentrate" or just some mix they have in a carton and blend with ice. They have several different protein options, even vegan, food-based protein. They have a big menu but basically you can just say I want a smoothie with _____ flavors and they will blend it up and voila, delicious smoothie in your hand and soon to be in your belly. Every person who works there is friendly and knowledgeable. I come here enough to know. You can ask for suggestions for something tropical, or something low-cal, or something with peanut butter, etc, etc, they can deliver!
