Our upright freezer had an ice sheet develop at the bottom, that was growing larger each week. We chose Emerald Appliance Repair based on the Yelp reviews, and had an excellent experience. It was easy to schedule an appointment with Jay, he was on time, and quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it. He explained everything he did, answered all of my questions, and was very pleasant to work with. On his way out, I showed him a problem we were having with our dishwasher upper shelf, which often would roll right out past the stops when it was full. Again, he quickly diagnosed the problem (broken plastic part) and offered to order the part for me, and then fix it when the part arrived. He called us when the part arrived (about 10 days later). We made an appointment for the repair, which he accomplished in about 30 minutes. Again, a very positive experience. I am happy to recommend Jay Weatherby for appliance repair. Tech showed up on time. Nice guy, relatable. Took him about 90 seconds to determine my old washer was not possible to repair at a reasonable price. Only complaint was that at $75.00 it was a bit expensive for a service call where he was rolling away less than five minutes after he arrived... and nothing was fixed. True, that is their minimum service call charge so it was handled "fairly", but in my mind it was still a bit high. That's how it goes sometimes... not a big deal so just 1 star deduction. I suspect competitors would be comparable, that doesn't change how it felt. Despite that minor complaint I would certainly call them again. 1) They were able to get someone out to look at the dead unit quickly 2) The person that showed up was a pro (on time, seemed knowledgeable and skilled...) 3) ... and a nice guy. read more

Based on other Yelp reviews, I called re: our Samsung refrigerator's ice maker which wasn't working, no matter what we tried. First positive: Jay returned my call within an hour or so, asked about our problem, checked his schedule and set up an appointment for a couple of days later. He arrived on-time, he knew exactly what the cause of the problem was, he clearly explained it to me, and had it corrected within a half hour to an hour. And imo, his fee was reasonable. Jay is fantastic! Our wash machine broke down, and I called him on Monday. He got back to me within minutes and scheduled an appointment for Wednesday at 11:00. I immediately received a confirmation text and another one the day of the appointment. He and Scott arrived right on time! He broke the bad news to me that a repair would be costly and possibly not lasting (given my choice of machine). He then made recommendations toward a solution for me. After not being able to make contact with Jay at Emerald Repair, I left an unfavorable review. Jay reached out to me to correct the problem. He contacted me and we set up an appointment which he said he would not charge for a service call to make up for missed return calls. He showed up on time and did all he could to try to repair my oven. He was very professional and took the time to explain what was wrong and how to deal with it. I couldn't be happier with EAR. My refrigerator was leaking and was running very loud. Jay came out a couple of times, first to diagnose the problem and ordered parts and then to install the parts. The heating element of my Dacor oven stopped working. Replaced it myself, still didn't work. I called EAR. Jay arrived on time and immediately located the problem - a blown circuit board.
