Emerald Appliance is the real deal. When my 3 year old washer stopped working, I called three local appliance repair shops. Emerald Appliance responded quickly, the service call price was competitive and fair, and I was able to book an appointment that week. Blaine came prepared with parts and all the tools needed, and was able to get my washer working quickly. Blaine was professional, knowledgeable and kept me informed on all aspects of the repair. Being fairly new to the area, I was happy to have found someone I could trust to come into my home and fix my appliances when needed, and for reasonable rates. Recently, I had problems getting my new range oven to light. Again I called Blaine at Emerald Appliance. and just as before, I was able to get an appointment within a week. Blaine came out right on time, checked out the oven and was able to locate and fix the issue. I truly appreciate the communication and professionalism. This guy knows his stuff! Please be cautious before selecting Emerald appliance. My problem was miss diagnosed after the first visit despite my vocalized concerns. I was charged $366 to fix my dryer yet it remains broken. Before the technician, Blane, left I expressed it was still making the same loud noice it had been making before his attempted repair. I got drawn into paying a little more than I expected, but was willing to do this for a repaired dryer. It took a 2nd visit to determine the problem was really more extensive than he initially thought. I was given an additional estimate that it would potentially cost $361.00 more to fix my machine. I was astonished that the total cost to repair my 22 year old dryer would be $727. This is a complete cost of a new dryer. I would have appreciated to know the full cost to repair my dryer before investing $366. I ended up buying a new dryer because I don't trust Emerald appliance or Blane. I really wanted to keep my old dryer working, but I cannot trust that investing more money in Emerald appliance will actually solve my problem and yield a working dryer. They were polite in hearing my concerns, but in the end were not willing to refund any part of the value I initially paid. I requested a refund of all or part of the additional $165 labor fee I was charged to end with a broken machine. I was informed the only offer that could be made was a discount on future service. This was not satisfactory to me because I don't trust they will repair my dryer or any other appliance in the future. I will not be calling them again, ever. Buyer beware. read more

Total scam if you're talking about real repair and correct testing, reported parts that weren't necessary to repair nor even damaged, said I should have called the manufacturer but he already had all the information and I did call the manufacturer prior to his visit, showed up unprepared after making me do all leg work calls to give me a bogus estimate that I never received. I have proof of all allegations. Might have helpful to a few in a pinch but won't work in real world applications and still waiting on that contractors license number. read more

I have found the only appliance repair company in Eureka that is professional, thorough and detailed. Blaine at Emerald Appliance returned my call in 30 minutes and scheduled an appointment within 2 days. He arrived early, went through the various testing to find the issue. He was COVID prepared and very clean in his work. After looking up the part needed the manufacturer no longer makes the part. Unfortunately a 5 year old dryer is dead; it had a short life. His knowledge of appliances is remarkable. We will use his recommendations when buying a new dryer. read more

Blaine is incredible! He came out on an emergency request to install a propane conversion on my new Costco LG stove. Without his help it would have been a microwave Thanksgiving. I never thought I would laugh while buying a refrigerator. Not only did Blaine make me laugh, he really went above and beyond anything I would have expected from an appliance shop. I needed a fridge in am awkwardly specific size within 24 hrs. I had called a bunch of shops and none had anything close to what I needed. I started trying to figure out how we would have to change the plans when I decided to expand the search area a bit and make one last call to this place. I'm in Arcata and was hesitant about going to the location on the Yelp listing just to check out a fridge, but it turns out that they have a location close by in Eureka. At first they said they didn't have one in the size I needed available for a few days. When I explained the time issue, Blaine stopped what he was working on to get this one ready ASAP. He met us in Eureka at a very convenient time, helped manoeuver our very large vehicle into a parking space, showed us the perfect fridge, and gave us a detailed lesson on how to use rachet straps. He then helped get the fridge into our vehicle and off we go! I cannot recommend this place more highly. This guy sincerely cares about helping people get solid working appliances at very reasonable prices. He spent a lot more time helping us get things just right than I could have expected. I'm really impressed by Blaine and will be returning here for a stove next month. read more

We bought a house end of August this year and on Labor Day Sunday fridge died! Blaine came out pretty fast to let me down easy that the previous owners left us a bad fridge. But good news was he had a used one for a reasonable price and went and got it that afternoon! No spoiled food and a working fridge. We ended up buying a new fridge for the kitchen since we planned on it before it broke but kept the one Blaine brought to us and have a good garage fridge now! Great for overflow items and beverages lol. It's nice to find a place with reasonable prices and honest service. Would recommend them and use them in the future if need be. read more

Very friendly, responded fast, very helpful and honest. My mothers is a business owner and uses her oven for everything she produces. One day it wouldn't turn on. Her normal repairman was unable to get her into his schedule for a few days. I called Emerald Appliance and he said he could be there within 2 hours to preform a diagnostic test and repair if needed. The technician was extremely thorough and detailed. Unfortunately, her oven was unrepairable, but because she was able to find that out in a timely fashion, she was able to quickly purchase a new oven and her business did not suffer as much as it could have. This was an incredibly odd, time wasting experience beginning with the initial call. The tech, I think Blaine, was so negative and started making excuses right away. I helped him pull out my Jenn-Air slide-in range (which he argued with me on the phone that that designation doesn't exist. It totally does). He pushed every button on the control panel (it had gone dark, the reason for the call) for 10-15 minutes then said he suspected it was on "energy saver" mode but didn't have an owner's manual to know how to disable it. I pulled up the manual in seconds from the magical interweb. He did the same pushing of buttons for another 5-10 minutes. You could not see the display, by the way, thus the call to my home warranty service. He then gave up and said the display and thermostat has to be replaced. He started the negative/excuse thing right away by saying it may take a month to get the part, sometimes the home warranty company takes weeks to approve it. Keep in mind he hasn't checked anything. He then said they don't deal with Sears because "they lie". I found four other resources for the part and showed him. He said he would get on it and keep me posted. I was giving him the benefit of doubt and held off calling to follow up. I finally called 8 days later and asked about the status. He said the home warranty service assigned it to another contractor for unknown reasons the following day and they were supposed to notify me. I called the home warranty service and found out that he had notified them he doesn't repair that brand (the brand, model # and serial # were provided to him prior to the visit when I set up the appointment. It was also provided by the warranty service) so it was reassigned. I eventually found out the new contractor was given my number incorrectly, so they couldn't reach me. So far, it has been a normal, professional interaction. So, in summary, If you enjoy having time wasted, dealing with a very negative person that you can't believe a word he says then by all means call them. If you want something actually fixed, call ANYONE else. read more
