I am leaving one star (which I have never done before) because when I bought my washer from EVA with extended warranty I knew that all I had to do was call, make an appointment and they would send a repair person out like they always had. Simple. But when I called 3 years later, still under warranty, they told me that they had outsourced the extended warranty contracts to a company called "Centricity" in Florida and that it was my responsibility to deal directly with them. Try Googling "Centricity complaints" and you will understand why I consider them to be a scam company from which I was unable to secure service of any kind after two weeks of trying; long/frequent hold times, closing case repeatedly without explanation, language barriers and getting automated product sales pitches with no other options when calling. So I gave up and bought a new wash elsewhere. EVA told me they were aware of the issues I was experiencing but when I asked to be reimbursed for a warranty which ultimately was not available to me they declined. In my opinion that this reflects unethical practices at best and fraud at worst. Buyer beware. read more

I was at wit's end with my oven. I had converted it to propane but I was not successful. The flames from the oven burner were god-awful. As a last resort, I went to eel Valley appliance and spoke to Steve in the service department. He patiently listened to me as I described the problem, then he made a few observations and suggestions that I hadn't heard on YouTube or anywhere else. Following his advice, I proceeded to get my oven flame to a beautiful blue flame. I even cook the pizza the next day just to check it out. It worked beautifully. I called Steve back and thanked him, and he said , "I'm glad it worked for you. Call me back anytime you need some help." Thanks again, eel Valley appliance, for your wonderful service. read more

I bought a new refrigerator that was intended as an extra it was a simple refrigerator but it didn't keep the freezer cold. Eel Valley came right out looked at the unit and ordered a part. The new part didn't fix the problem. I was worried about what would happen next and thrilled when they gave me a bigger refrigerator and transferred the warranty I had bought to the new refrigerator for no additional money! While the prices in this store are fairly high, shopping for home appliances here is convenient if you live in Fortuna. They carry some high end brand names like Jenn Air and Kitchen Aid, but they also have some lower end items with a more affordable price point. The inside of the shop is nice and clean, and they often have complimentary coffee, tea, and cookies at their front counter. My husband was lucky enough to have won a $1,000 gift certificate from them, so we frequented their store many times to determine how we were going to spend the money. We ended up landing on a Kitchen Aid dishwasher. It had 3 pull out racks that had adjustable heights, and it featured special nozzles and a "bottle wash" cycle for things such as Nalgene water bottles. I know that some people like to complain about delivery and installation costs, but to avoid those, we loaded our washing machine in the back of our pickup truck, purchased a fairly inexpensive installation kit from the store, and did the install ourselves. I would recommend doing it that way if you are wanting to save money. I love how some of the displays for the ovens are installed in different types of cabinets. It really gives you an idea as to what some of these appliances look like next to different woods, textures, and paint colors. I love being able to open up and peek inside all the machines to see their fancy features! read more

If you have a broken appliance, you'll have to get repair service from someone else. Do yourself a favor, avoid major frustration, and avoid this business. This business is the most inept at customer service of any I have encountered. They can't find paperwork, they can't hire enough techs, and they can't follow through on any commitment. If you need parts ordered, they can't order the parts without involving everyone but the "parts manager." I got tired of their excuses, and waiting for their phone calls. After waiting for some kind of response for 1 week, I called someone in Eureka (20 miles north of me) to fix my appliance. And if you complain about their service, they will disconnect the call--they don't care, because they don't have to care. There is little if any local competition. Go somewhere else. read more

Replacing our old Maytag washer we purchased a new Maytag from Eel River Appliance and found it to be a very pleasant experience. Ross was very helpful through the whole process. His first priority was to see if we could get the old one working. When it was determined that we needed a new washer, he walked us through, taking into consideration our desires. I'm glad I didn't look at the previous reviews before buying from Eel Valley Appliance, because my experience was totally different. Perhaps I should mention that the store was bought out by different people as of a year or two ago. Joshua, the salesman, gave me exactly what I asked for (a particular washing machine) without a hard core sales pitch. He was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. When I asked about financing, he had it ready for me in about ten minutes. Buying it was a pleasure. I had gone in one other time just to check prices and models, and there was no pressure then, either. They delivered it and hooked it up for me within the time frame promised (Yes, I did pay $55 for delivery and hookup, but I think that is standard and it was well worth it to me, since they also took away my old washer.) Tyler was friendly and competent, and took the time to make sure it was working correctly before he left, as well as giving me a couple of hints on how to care for it. Update on former review. Because of the mix up with the delivery dates Josh credited me for the deliver /installation fee, and he apologized several times. The delivery guys were on time, efficient and pleasant. The dispatcher alerted me to the delivery the night before. Would I go to them again? I think so. Benefit of the doubt here. I bought two appliances from Eel Valley. The first, a refrigerator, was delivered a week late. Then it froze all of my refrigerated food even on the warmest setting. Their repair man discovered the fan was incorrectly installed and fixed it. That wasn't too bad, so I bought a dishwasher from them last month. First they called to say it would be delivered late and they would call me back. Never called back and delivered on original date. However, the delivery/install man refused to install it because it was not located right next to sink. Evidently I bought the short install kit that wasn't long enough. Not being an expert on dishwashers, I was unaware of the critical need of sink proximity and the sales man asked me absolutely nothing about distance from sink. Currently the dishwasher is still in the box in my garage until a plumber FROM ANOTHER COMPANY can come and install it. If you have time on your hands and tolerance for sloppy work, then Eel Valley Appliance is for you. I will never, ever buy anything from them again. read more
