Cozy lounge area with free wifi!

I found this place on a whim and it was excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive (shout out to Tyler and Bobby!) and they are serious about making sure you feel safe and welcome. I was a single woman traveling alone and I couldn't have felt more comfortable. You can tell the people working there care about what they do. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms and kitchen were clean, and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. I'll definitely stay here again!

I loved my stay at the Ember hostel. Loved it so much that the day after I left I booked another trip to Denver and had to reserve another stay. Super friendly staff, very clean house, rooms, kitchen, bathrooms etc! This was my first hostel experiences and I was blown away. Can't wait to get back next month!

The nicest hostel I've stayed in, with the most amenities (and priced to reflect that). Right off the bat, parking was made super convenient because you can get a free pass (first come first serve) to park in the lot right next to the hostel. There's even a back staircase to the parking lot that's accessible via key card. The check in process was simple and streamlined, and one of the friendly employees gave me a tour of the place immediately after I arrived. He was thoughtful enough to knock and make sure the coast was clear before showing me how to open the door to the woman's dorm with my keycard. Onto the dorms - they were very clean and the bedding was sooo comfy. The all white linens were spotless, soft and more in keeping with the quality what you might expect from a traditional hotel than what I've experienced at most hostels. The bunks all had their own individual blackout curtains for sleep and privacy, outlets and lamp. That made it much easier to set your own schedule without disturbing others with your phone light etc. The bathrooms were extremely clean and relatively private compared to other hostels I've been to. Each shower and toilet has its own separate lockable room. The one thing I will say is that the water pressure was unusually low when I went there (especially from the sink faucets), but the efficient rain shower heads and ample hot water made for a comfortable shower anyways. Why stay in this hostel when it is priced similarly to a hotel? 1) Location - this was in the heart of Denver and walking distance from many restaurants, bars, and attractions (like a weed mansion?!); other accommodations in this area are significantly more expensive 2) Comfort, cleanliness - this felt much, much cleaner than a $60-$90/night motel, with really nice, updated bathrooms, extremely comfortable mattresses and bedding; it was generally beautiful, given that it is a well maintained converted Victorian mansion 3) the hostel experience - there were plenty of other friendly fellow young travelers to socialize with on the cool patio, there were laundry facilities and a full kitchen to use, and lots of information on local events, shows and attractions; staying here was memorable - much more-so than another stay at an interchangeable Marriott, or a questionable highway chain motel; that said, it was definitely lacking the rough around the edges vibe that you get from most hostels, and again it was priced higher than most hostels accordingly.

Honestly the cutest place to stay! Its located near LoDo so not to far from downtown. A great place to restore, meet and call home base if you're traveling through or in Denver. Complimentary coffee and light sweets for breakfast! Like we're talking donuts and some really yummy ones. Bathrooms/ Rooms are kept clean. Staff is friendly and welcoming. If I ever solo it out to Colorado again, I will definitely stay here again! Thank you for a sweet stay!

I needed up needing to extend my stay and after hearing about them rave about 11th ave and getting to spend some time in the lobby I ended up snatching the last bunk bed room available. Which ended up working out great because my colleague from Boulder joined us and we decided to make it a night on the town, so he had a nice place to rest and saved him the drive back to his part of town late. There were little inconveniences. The oscillating motor on the AC unit in our room made a faint wailing noise which was a bit of a disturbance. Someone else in my group pointed out that they didn't have hair dryers. But all in all I'd book at 11th Ave over a hotel any day. The library was a cozy spot to get some work done and have a convo with my friends. I'll be back to Denver and ill be back to 11th Ave, for sure.

I was able to get to a phone and call my mom who helped reserve a room for me at this hostel. My mom helped me get an Uber as I had no transportation and no phone (a storm at the campsite I was supposed to be at for another night broke my phone and swept away my car and apartment keys, leaving me without any assistance available until the following morning). Upon arriving, the overnight desk agent refused to offer any assistance despite me being able to provide ID, card on file, confirmation number and pin. I understand the inability to provide a room since he communicated that despite my emergency, I couldn't check in until 11 am, but this desk agent wouldn't even allow me to use a phone or come in for even a moment. It is around 3-3:30am at this point. I'm a woman alone, in my 20s, explained the urgency of my situation, I start sobbing purely out of fear at this point as I realize that I am completely out of options and cannot even be given the human decency to connect to a phone to try and update my mom on the situation and rebook at an option that could accommodate me for the night. Thankfully I was able to get into my apartment at about 8:30am the following morning and I am truly just thankful that no harm came to me that night. That being said, this hostel will never see my service again nor will I ever recommend it. The people who are employed at a place of hospitality are the ones who make or break the experience. Knowing the lack of empathy and assistance they provide to their customers leaves an awful taste in my mouth and I will continue to make sure those who ask me know to stay clear. As a Denver resident, there are similarly priced options in the area who will better prioritize your customer experience and treat you with compassion. Save yourself or your loved ones the headache and book literally anywhere else. ***Edit: I think it is also important to note that I am African American and therefore have to wonder if my experience would've been different if I looked different. I find this note especially important to warn other BIPOC, I don't believe this is a space for us.

Tip: Call to reserve late checkout at 1:30 for $30. First come first served. Otherwise checkout is at 11 AM. It was nice to enjoy coffee in the lodge after a late night concert. Worth it to take the shuttle (mini school bus with a couch and disco balls!) for $15/person to be dropped up at the top of Red Rocks - beats the long line walking up. $25/person pick up - approx 10 min walk but it's all downhill to the party bus and seemed way safer than all the taxi drivers in your face outside of the amphitheater. Brooks is awesome and takes care of you!! We stayed in the Rose Retreat again. It's a small room, but I love the big shower and mini fridge with Brita. The window air conditioning unit kept the place nice and cool with it being 95° outside. Private hot tub and robes in the closet. Breakfast is included. Order at check-in and enjoy the next morning. This isn't a super nice or updated space, but we had everything we needed for our mixed bag of early 30s friends. My friends and I stayed in the Stone St. cottage, which is heavily Grateful Dead/psychedelic/ classic rock themed. The room is listed as sleeping 3, which we did on night one, but easily slept 4 on night 2. The grounds were so charming and eclectic. The cottage we were in was a little wonky and slanted on the floor, but the rooms were clean, the shower worked great and we had more than what we needed. We checked in super late in the darkness so we didn't get to experience a normal front desk check in, which I'm sure would brief us on procedures like pre-ordering breakfast the night before, but the staff was so accommodating when we showed up hungry and ordered bacon, eggs and potatoes in the AM. Mary was the cook and she was rad, quick witted and whipped up a lovely home cooked breakfast. There are 2 dogs (that we met) on site names Shokti (gorg white husky queen) and Mr. Dog (precious, hilarious chihuahua businessman) and we loved to pet and visit with them while in the main lodge. That space is incredible: kitschy, eclectic, trippy and warm, just like our whole stay! I could go on forever about how adult-summer-camp-esque the grounds were! Every cottage is themed, though we only entered ours. The covered hot tub was a crucial touch for our group in the crisp 50 degree weather to take a morning dip and unwind after the show. I'm unsure if all cottages come with hot tubs so definitely confirm if that's something you're interested in. The walkability to all the necessities and some breweries/ eateries was appealing when we had time to kill. Cliff House offers a shuttle to and from Red Rocks for a fixed price per rider. The shuttle to the venue leaves 15 minutes prior to doors which was a little late for us, so we opted to take the shuttle back and it was a highlight of the trip. Brook's organized the shuttle, sent us incredibly detailed instructions on where/ how to find her in a short, yellow school bus. I especially appreciate the details because we had been drinking etc and needed the depth of care taken to make sure we found her! The bus was stocked with beverages and we played music and just bopped down the hill, laughing our butts off. This was such a fun stay for us and it was thanks to the grounds, location, home cooked breakfast and tea in the lodge, Mary, Brooks, Shokti and Mr. Dog. I will recommend to anyone I know traveling that way!

Even after twice informing the staff of this fact, it took them four days to drop off a couple of pieces of silverware. There were only a couple of plates and bowls. Plus, half of the knobs on the kitchen cabinets were broke and it was hard and a bit painful to grab what was left to open them. She clearly has personal issues causing her to exhibit the most atrocious and unprofessional behavior. On more than one occasion I have witnessed her being verbally abusive towards a mentally disabled veteran, physically shove a young male guest who questioned her antics, walk into a guests room without cause and threaten and harrass previous guests. She stands at the front desk with a permanent glare etched into her heavily made up face, talks over guests, interrupts them, belittles them and is known for throwing guests out after they have already paid for a second night. I paid for two extra hours to personally clean my room because I couldn't afford to leave a tip and when i went ten minutes past the deadline she rudely entered my room and threw me out after charging me another $25. Then she told other guests I had been banned for life from the hotel for destroying my room. Which was a complete fabrication. So far from anything I have ever done in my entire life at any hotel. On another occasion she then threw me off the premises and left me on the street with no phone or wallet and no idea where my family was and threatened to call police. I found her confusing and irrational. My friend insisted I file a police report against her, I did but was told that a private business has the right to treat guests like crap. I called the corporate office and complained about her but was told that only the owner can handle the complaint. There are so many people in Denver better suited for this job who need employment. I have to wonder why she continues to have a job and what is going on between the owner and this woman to explain why she still works there. She leaves a path of destruction behind after every shift and does not follow corporate protocol and it obviously affects the rest of the staff because when she comes to work I can see how unhappy the other employees are and how much their demeanor changes upon her arrival. I hope this review opens some opportunity for her to be formally investigated and fired.
