Cozy lounge area with free wifi!

I found this place on a whim and it was excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive (shout out to Tyler and Bobby!) and they are serious about making sure you feel safe and welcome. I was a single woman traveling alone and I couldn't have felt more comfortable. You can tell the people working there care about what they do. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms and kitchen were clean, and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. I'll definitely stay here again!

I loved my stay at the Ember hostel. Loved it so much that the day after I left I booked another trip to Denver and had to reserve another stay. Super friendly staff, very clean house, rooms, kitchen, bathrooms etc! This was my first hostel experiences and I was blown away. Can't wait to get back next month!

Max water pressure from faucets during my stay

The nicest hostel I've stayed in, with the most amenities (and priced to reflect that). Right off the bat, parking was made super convenient because you can get a free pass (first come first serve) to park in the lot right next to the hostel. There's even a back staircase to the parking lot that's accessible via key card. The check in process was simple and streamlined, and one of the friendly employees gave me a tour of the place immediately after I arrived. He was thoughtful enough to knock and make sure the coast was clear before showing me how to open the door to the woman's dorm with my keycard. Onto the dorms - they were very clean and the bedding was sooo comfy. The all white linens were spotless, soft and more in keeping with the quality what you might expect from a traditional hotel than what I've experienced at most hostels. The bunks all had their own individual blackout curtains for sleep and privacy, outlets and lamp. That made it much easier to set your own schedule without disturbing others with your phone light etc. The bathrooms were extremely clean and relatively private compared to other hostels I've been to. Each shower and toilet has its own separate lockable room. The one thing I will say is that the water pressure was unusually low when I went there (especially from the sink faucets), but the efficient rain shower heads and ample hot water made for a comfortable shower anyways. Why stay in this hostel when it is priced similarly to a hotel? 1) Location - this was in the heart of Denver and walking distance from many restaurants, bars, and attractions (like a weed mansion?!); other accommodations in this area are significantly more expensive 2) Comfort, cleanliness - this felt much, much cleaner than a $60-$90/night motel, with really nice, updated bathrooms, extremely comfortable mattresses and bedding; it was generally beautiful, given that it is a well maintained converted Victorian mansion 3) the hostel experience - there were plenty of other friendly fellow young travelers to socialize with on the cool patio, there were laundry facilities and a full kitchen to use, and lots of information on local events, shows and attractions; staying here was memorable - much more-so than another stay at an interchangeable Marriott, or a questionable highway chain motel; that said, it was definitely lacking the rough around the edges vibe that you get from most hostels, and again it was priced higher than most hostels accordingly.

Honestly the cutest place to stay! Its located near LoDo so not to far from downtown. A great place to restore, meet and call home base if you're traveling through or in Denver. Complimentary coffee and light sweets for breakfast! Like we're talking donuts and some really yummy ones. Bathrooms/ Rooms are kept clean. Staff is friendly and welcoming. If I ever solo it out to Colorado again, I will definitely stay here again! Thank you for a sweet stay!

Tip: Call to reserve late checkout at 1:30 for $30. First come first served. Otherwise checkout is at 11 AM. It was nice to enjoy coffee in the lodge after a late night concert. Worth it to take the shuttle (mini school bus with a couch and disco balls!) for $15/person to be dropped up at the top of Red Rocks - beats the long line walking up. $25/person pick up - approx 10 min walk but it's all downhill to the party bus and seemed way safer than all the taxi drivers in your face outside of the amphitheater. Brooks is awesome and takes care of you!! We stayed in the Rose Retreat again. It's a small room, but I love the big shower and mini fridge with Brita. The window air conditioning unit kept the place nice and cool with it being 95° outside. Private hot tub and robes in the closet. Breakfast is included. Order at check-in and enjoy the next morning. There is also fruit, bagels, coffee and tea, with alternative milk available. Bottomless mimosas available for a cost. We enjoyed a nice chess game with coffee after a delicious breakfast. Can't wait for the next visit!

This isn't a super nice or updated space, but we had everything we needed for our mixed bag of early 30s friends. My friends and I stayed in the Stone St. cottage, which is heavily Grateful Dead/psychedelic/ classic rock themed. The room is listed as sleeping 3, which we did on night one, but easily slept 4 on night 2. The grounds were so charming and eclectic. The cottage we were in was a little wonky and slanted on the floor, but the rooms were clean, the shower worked great and we had more than what we needed. We checked in super late in the darkness so we didn't get to experience a normal front desk check in, which I'm sure would brief us on procedures like pre-ordering breakfast the night before, but the staff was so accommodating when we showed up hungry and ordered bacon, eggs and potatoes in the AM. Mary was the cook and she was rad, quick witted and whipped up a lovely home cooked breakfast. There are 2 dogs (that we met) on site names Shokti (gorg white husky queen) and Mr. Dog (precious, hilarious chihuahua businessman) and we loved to pet and visit with them while in the main lodge. That space is incredible: kitschy, eclectic, trippy and warm, just like our whole stay! I could go on forever about how adult-summer-camp-esque the grounds were! Every cottage is themed, though we only entered ours. The covered hot tub was a crucial touch for our group in the crisp 50 degree weather to take a morning dip and unwind after the show. I'm unsure if all cottages come with hot tubs so definitely confirm if that's something you're interested in. The walkability to all the necessities and some breweries/ eateries was appealing when we had time to kill. Cliff House offers a shuttle to and from Red Rocks for a fixed price per rider. The shuttle to the venue leaves 15 minutes prior to doors which was a little late for us, so we opted to take the shuttle back and it was a highlight of the trip. Brook's organized the shuttle, sent us incredibly detailed instructions on where/ how to find her in a short, yellow school bus. I especially appreciate the details because we had been drinking etc and needed the depth of care taken to make sure we found her! The bus was stocked with beverages and we played music and just bopped down the hill, laughing our butts off. This was such a fun stay for us and it was thanks to the grounds, location, home cooked breakfast and tea in the lodge, Mary, Brooks, Shokti and Mr. Dog. I will recommend to anyone I know traveling that way!

The dirt entry road should have been my first clue... If you are a true outdoor adventurous, and…read moreyou do not mind hostile style sleeping or dirt roads or just completely laid-back housing on your vacation. This is the place for you. For me, I should have read the small print! $$ First of all... The young lady at the front desk had to deal with me after I had not slept for 36 hours, I have to give her a very high rating for fixing my reservation and allowing me to sleep in one of the cabin room for one night instead of on a hostel cot in a unit with five other people. I did go out and make a reservation at a different establishment for the other two nights that I was going to stay in Boulder. Second of all, I just needed to sleep... So this was a perfect place to lay my head until the morning. The three stars is definitely for the staff as they were very kind and very accommodating. I don't know how to rate the room itself. The railing that led to my room was rickety so I did not use it to climb the stairs that were also questionable. The room itself and the bed and linen were clean, but the floor of the tub was so brown that I could not take a shower in it. The TV did not work, and there was no air-conditioning. They did supply a box fan, which I set up in front of the TV (that was not functional) and slept with the fan blowing on me all night. Yes, I was in Colorado, but during the summer it's as warm as Georgia! For those of you who hate your phone, this is the perfect place for you as there is NO... And I mean zero... Cell service. The bright side is, is that they do provide Wi-Fi So there you have it! Enjoy life, make lots of memories, and safe travels

Gather around children and let me tell you the story of our adventure with this establishment and…read morethe surrounding area. Upon check in, the staff, super nice. Asked for my ID to verify I am who I am, but here's where the adventure truly began. The front desk clerk obviously didn't look at my ID when I gave her my last name for check in. There just happened to be two of us with the same last name there that night. The ID should have been utilized to tell the difference between myself and Nancy. I prepaid for my room, Nancy hadn't, so I got charged for Nancy's two rooms (I got refunded). The desk clerk felt bad for her mistake, and reversed the charges immediately. The room was nice! Newly remodeled/refurbished the room, the beds, the floors, thus the reason for the two stars. The bathrooms could have been given a little TLC since that obviously wasn't touched during remodel. Now the neighborhood... There are really good restaurants nearby (Jelly/Park Avenue Tacos), but wow this neighborhood screams Boys in the Hood. I was seriously anticipating hearing somebody scream "RICKY!!" when we were walking around. But if you're looking to buy a quick "fix", then the ambiance of this neighborhood is for you. Looking for a weekend shag with a possible parting gift? Well, the prostitutes in the area are for you with their missing teeth and big tits (I was impressed by them when I saw them from across the street) then this neighborhood is for you. Want to fall asleep to the sweet sweet sounds of gun shots, ambulances, motorcycles, and cars revving their engines, then this is the place for you! For the love of God, avoid the 7-11 next door because it has a metric ton of strung out drug addicts and the cashier there doesn't know how to count and is a total douche (another story for another Yelp review). I definitely won't be staying here again if I'm in Denver again.

Days Inn Downtown Denver - Don't Make the Mistake I Did…read more Considering a room at Days Inn Downtown Denver? My story follows, but to save time, here's all you need to know: DON'T. My son & DIL were about to deliver a baby at HCA St. Luke's, so I chose the hotel at the top of the hospital's list & closest to the facility, thinking I'd walk the 7/10 mile easily. I knew the hotel was 3 stars, & read some reviews. Comments said it was clean, rooms newly redone, helpful staff. All of that is true, but looking back, all the positive reviews were by people who'd never posted before. One review read, "It was scary!" I figured it was a troll. I was wrong. Booked a room for 2 nights. When I arrived, the hotel looked pretty grim. Not the best section of town, not a great reception area, but all I needed was a clean room, a bed, WIFI, & a desk where I could work while waiting for baby. Safety hadn't crossed my mind, but 2 minutes into check-in, a man I thought had come in from the street, but later turned out to be a guest known to the staff, interrupted & demanded the clerk DO SOMETHING about the PEOPLE WHO WERE LOOKING AT HIM THROUGH THE WINDOW. I've lived & worked in Philly, & visit adult kids in D.C., Baltimore, & Denver, so the displaced population is familiar. This guy was aggressive, threatening, either on something or suffering from a mental illness. He got more & more animated, accused the clerk of not believing him, yelling that he takes video out of his window all the time & could prove that people were looking in his window & demanding that she do something. The clerk calmly asked him to bring the video so she could look. I was impressed by her, but shook. He left & she continued the check-in, but he came back, acting even more agitated, yelling that she didn't believe him, that he wasn't going through hours of video just to make her believe him. It went on & on. By the time he left again, I was wondering why there was no security. I went to my room, which was clean, with new furnishings & flooring, but the external hall to get there was dark, looked dirty, & I felt very exposed. Shaking, I called my husband, who said to cancel the next night's reservation. I was petrified to go back out, but went downstairs & told the clerk how uncomfortable & unsafe I felt. She said I was a couple of hours after the cutoff, too late to cancel. She also dismissed my concerns, said she'd worked there for 2 years & didn't feel unsafe. I admired her toughness, but it didn't make me feel any better. I felt stuck & afraid. Yelling, either from the street or from another room, didn't help. I turned on the TV, skipped eating because I didn't want to encounter the man or anyone else, & slept with the lights on. The next day, I asked them to reconsider a refund for the 2nd night because I wasn't staying, then checked out & went to another hotel a few blocks away. It felt like a different world. I got a letter from the owner citing new security & how they'd never had an incident. Said if I could prove something had happened there in the past 5 years, they'd refund for the night I didn't stay, but otherwise, no. Some of that may be true, but their door, stairs, & elevator to the guest room are NOT monitored - I left in the morning without anybody seeing me, & when I returned, I had to wait for the clerk to emerge from the back. Anyone could've walked in, & up. It's apparent that their guests acting aggressively & erratically is normal, & management thinks it's fine. Here's the bottom line. This is NOT A HOTEL FOR TOURISTS. It's a transient hotel in a tough part of town. If you're coming to Denver to see the sights, visit relatives, etc., this is NOT A PLACE WHERE YOU WILL FEEL SAFE. Management totally disregards concerns about safety. Wyndham should be ashamed of having this property associated with its brand. Don't make the mistake I did. There are plenty of fine hotels in town that don't cost a ton of money. Pick another place.
