I stayed here for a couple days during my last trip to Denver. It is located near the downtown area and accessible by public transportation. I booked the private room and it was wonderful. We had a sink in the room which made it easier to wash up without going out to one of the bathrooms in the hallway. The staff was friendly and helpful with directions of local stores and restaurants. Most of the areas in Denver are walkable. I was able to walk further down and check out Snooze Cafe and Denver Biscuit Co. If you walk the other way you slowly head to 16th Street Mall. There are several clubs nearby so you can expect loud music if you are staying over the weekend. The doors lock around midnight so people don't randomly walk in after a late night. There is someone at the front desk who is available to always help. My major problem with this hostel was the heating system was broken while I was there. It was a chilly weekend and the heat was not working. The contractors outside my door were constantly going back and forth and making a lot of noise. They were unable to fix it on Friday and had to wait until next week to try something else. The only thing the staff could do is offer another blanket. I was upset that this was happening and there was no way to fix it. Needless to say a freezing room put a hamper on the enjoyable weekend I was supposed to be having.

    Museum across the street.

I just checked out of a 5 night stay at this wonderful place. I'm going to address the noise first as it seems to be the reason for all of the bad reviews. Yes, there are nightclubs close by. Yes you can hear them. However, they are only loud on the weekends and they do not warrant enough disturbance for a bad review. I arrived late on a Friday night and there was noise, but as my nephew put it "you really had to listen to hear it". Also there were food trucks outside to accommodate the clubbers which ended up being a god send for our hungry late arriving selves. The noise was much worse on Saturday and it did wake me up. That said, it was only bad for about an hour at 2:00 am when everything was shutting down, and my nephew slept through it. So, yes, the noise it a real thing ...... but it was only disruptive for me for an hour out of a 5 night stay. It was crickets Sunday Monday and Tuesday nights. Now on to the good stuff. This place is spotless, spacious, warm and friendly. It's family run and you can feel the love. The general manager Jean-Paul in an OG is the hospitality game and it shows through with his thoughtful attention. The bathrooms are shared, but I never saw anyone else use them or even saw evidence that they had been used. Beds are sooooooo comfortable. Bedding and towels are high quality and refreshed regularly. There are lots of different lounge and hang out spots that are comfortable and tastefully done. The kitchen has all pots, pans, utensils etc that you need for cooking. Fridge is clean and there is a clear system for storing your food so no one else eats it. There are no condiments (at least not that I saw), so you need to buy salt, pepper, oil, etc if you plan on cooking daily. It is very close (walking distance) to great restaurants on capitol hill, the downtown area, and the Denver museum is across the street. It's a hostel, but not really because it's better. Highly recommend.

I stayed at 11th Ave for a solo trip. It was affordable and had all the necessities. It may not be in the best area but I didn't think it's too bad--just like any other city. The staff was always super kind, upbeat and helpful. The location is great--there are a lot of bars in the area and it's close to a lot of tourist attractions in the city.

Booked 5 nights for my stay in Denver (3 weeks ahead of time) and got in on a late flight. Arrived and it seemed about right for the cost. However, at 7:30am loud construction noises started. We laid there for about an hour listening to the hammering until I opened the door to see that the room across the hall was being renovated. A full crew was working and had all their equipment right outside the door. We went down to the check-in and they said they couldn't do anything (as they were completely booked). We didn't see anything about renovations while booking on their site and to put customers across the hall from multiple renovations seems in bad form (especially since we booked far ahead of time). Being overly tired we ask to check-out after 1 night and no refund (or anything) was offered for the night we stayed. If we would have been refunded I wouldn't have had an issue, but there was no reason to argue with the front desk staff who didn't seem to care. We did not feel it was worth getting upset and effecting our trip further, but next time we will listen to the reviews.

Cozy, heart of downtown Denver, comfy bed, sink .manager is an amazing and understanding person.

Staff is nice and the rooms are decent. Shared showers and bathroom and no air conditioning the stay was kind of uncomfortable because the rooms were hot, but other then that decent and cheap stay compared to other places in downtown Denver. No deposit on the reservation as well.

Tip: Call to reserve late checkout at 1:30 for $30. First come first served. Otherwise checkout is at 11 AM. It was nice to enjoy coffee in the lodge after a late night concert. Worth it to take the shuttle (mini school bus with a couch and disco balls!) for $15/person to be dropped up at the top of Red Rocks - beats the long line walking up. $25/person pick up - approx 10 min walk but it's all downhill to the party bus and seemed way safer than all the taxi drivers in your face outside of the amphitheater. Brooks is awesome and takes care of you!! We stayed in the Rose Retreat again. It's a small room, but I love the big shower and mini fridge with Brita. The window air conditioning unit kept the place nice and cool with it being 95° outside. Private hot tub and robes in the closet. Breakfast is included. Order at check-in and enjoy the next morning. There is also fruit, bagels, coffee and tea, with alternative milk available. Bottomless mimosas available for a cost. We enjoyed a nice chess game with coffee after a delicious breakfast. Can't wait for the next visit!

This isn't a super nice or updated space, but we had everything we needed for our mixed bag of early 30s friends. My friends and I stayed in the Stone St. cottage, which is heavily Grateful Dead/psychedelic/ classic rock themed. The room is listed as sleeping 3, which we did on night one, but easily slept 4 on night 2. The grounds were so charming and eclectic. The cottage we were in was a little wonky and slanted on the floor, but the rooms were clean, the shower worked great and we had more than what we needed. We checked in super late in the darkness so we didn't get to experience a normal front desk check in, which I'm sure would brief us on procedures like pre-ordering breakfast the night before, but the staff was so accommodating when we showed up hungry and ordered bacon, eggs and potatoes in the AM. Mary was the cook and she was rad, quick witted and whipped up a lovely home cooked breakfast. There are 2 dogs (that we met) on site names Shokti (gorg white husky queen) and Mr. Dog (precious, hilarious chihuahua businessman) and we loved to pet and visit with them while in the main lodge. That space is incredible: kitschy, eclectic, trippy and warm, just like our whole stay! I could go on forever about how adult-summer-camp-esque the grounds were! Every cottage is themed, though we only entered ours. The covered hot tub was a crucial touch for our group in the crisp 50 degree weather to take a morning dip and unwind after the show. I'm unsure if all cottages come with hot tubs so definitely confirm if that's something you're interested in. The walkability to all the necessities and some breweries/ eateries was appealing when we had time to kill. Cliff House offers a shuttle to and from Red Rocks for a fixed price per rider. The shuttle to the venue leaves 15 minutes prior to doors which was a little late for us, so we opted to take the shuttle back and it was a highlight of the trip. Brook's organized the shuttle, sent us incredibly detailed instructions on where/ how to find her in a short, yellow school bus. I especially appreciate the details because we had been drinking etc and needed the depth of care taken to make sure we found her! The bus was stocked with beverages and we played music and just bopped down the hill, laughing our butts off. This was such a fun stay for us and it was thanks to the grounds, location, home cooked breakfast and tea in the lodge, Mary, Brooks, Shokti and Mr. Dog. I will recommend to anyone I know traveling that way!

The problem with the Chalet is that management seems clueless when it comes to tending to upkeep. The kitchen is nice but there literally were no forks in the drawer and only a couple of small spoons and one steak knife. Even after twice informing the staff of this fact, it took them four days to drop off a couple of pieces of silverware. There were only a couple of plates and bowls. Plus, half of the knobs on the kitchen cabinets were broke and it was hard and a bit painful to grab what was left to open them. There were two amazing decorative bedside lamps, but only one of them worked because there was no place to plug it in. The young lady at the front desk had to deal with me after I had not slept for 36 hours, I have to give her a very high rating for fixing my reservation and allowing me to sleep in one of the cabin room for one night instead of on a hostel cot in a unit with five other people. I did go out and make a reservation at a different establishment for the other two nights that I was going to stay in Boulder. Second of all, I just needed to sleep... So this was a perfect place to lay my head until the morning. The three stars is definitely for the staff as they were very kind and very accommodating. I don't know how to rate the room itself. The railing that led to my room was rickety so I did not use it to climb the stairs that were also questionable. The room itself and the bed and linen were clean, but the floor of the tub was so brown that I could not take a shower in it. The TV did not work, and there was no air-conditioning. They did supply a box fan, which I set up in front of the TV (that was not functional) and slept with the fan blowing on me all night. Days Inn Downtown Denver - Don't Make the Mistake I Did…read more Considering a room at Days Inn Downtown Denver? My story follows, but to save time, here's all you need to know: DON'T. My son & DIL were about to deliver a baby at HCA St. Luke's, so I chose the hotel at the top of the hospital's list & closest to the facility, thinking I'd walk the 7/10 mile easily. I knew the hotel was 3 stars, & read some reviews. Comments said it was clean, rooms newly redone, helpful staff. All of that is true, but looking back, all the positive reviews were by people who'd never posted before. One review read, "It was scary!" I figured it was a troll. I was wrong. Booked a room for 2 nights. When I arrived, the hotel looked pretty grim. Not the best section of town, not a great reception area, but all I needed was a clean room, a bed, WIFI, & a desk where I could work while waiting for baby. Safety hadn't crossed my mind, but 2 minutes into check-in, a man I thought had come in from the street, but later turned out to be a guest known to the staff, interrupted & demanded the clerk DO SOMETHING about the PEOPLE WHO WERE LOOKING AT HIM THROUGH THE WINDOW. I've lived & worked in Philly, & visit adult kids in D.C., Baltimore, & Denver, so the displaced population is familiar. This guy was aggressive, threatening, either on something or suffering from a mental illness. He got more & more animated, accused the clerk of not believing him, yelling that he takes video out of his window all the time & could prove that people were looking in his window & demanding that she do something. The clerk calmly asked him to bring the video so she could look. I was impressed by her, but shook. He left & she continued the check-in, but he came back, acting even more agitated, yelling that she didn't believe him, that he wasn't going through hours of video just to make her believe him. It went on & on. By the time he left again, I was wondering why there was no security. I went to my room, which was clean, with new furnishings & flooring, but the external hall to get there was dark, looked dirty, & I felt very exposed. Shaking, I called my husband, who said to cancel the next night's reservation. I was petrified to go back out, but went downstairs & told the clerk how uncomfortable & unsafe I felt. She said I was a couple of hours after the cutoff, too late to cancel. She also dismissed my concerns, said she'd worked there for 2 years & didn't feel unsafe. I admired her toughness, but it didn't make me feel any better. I felt stuck & afraid. Yelling, either from the street or from another room, didn't help. I turned on the TV, skipped eating because I didn't want to encounter the man or anyone else, & slept with the lights on. The next day, I asked them to reconsider a refund for the 2nd night because I wasn't staying, then checked out & went to another hotel a few blocks away. It felt like a different world. I got a letter from the owner citing new security & how they'd never had an incident. Said if I could prove something had happened there in the past 5 years, they'd refund for the night I didn't stay, but otherwise, no. Some of that may be true, but their door, stairs, & elevator to the guest room are NOT monitored - I left in the morning without anybody seeing me, & when I returned, I had to wait for the clerk to emerge from the back. Anyone could've walked in, & up. It's apparent that their guests acting aggressively & erratically is normal, & management thinks it's fine. Here's the bottom line. This is NOT A HOTEL FOR TOURISTS. It's a transient hotel in a tough part of town. If you're coming to Denver to see the sights, visit relatives, etc., this is NOT A PLACE WHERE YOU WILL FEEL SAFE. Management totally disregards concerns about safety. Wyndham should be ashamed of having this property associated with its brand. Don't make the mistake I did. There are plenty of fine hotels in town that don't cost a ton of money. Pick another place.
