11th Ave defies what you think a hostel is. My friends got a room at this place for our trip to Denver and i told myself "im too bougie to stay at a hostel" and paid a premium for a -- lets just say a subpar no-frills experience. 11th ave is well decorated with few frills but lots of options for travelers of all types. I needed up needing to extend my stay and after hearing about them rave about 11th ave and getting to spend some time in the lobby I ended up snatching the last bunk bed room available. Which ended up working out great because my colleague from Boulder joined us and we decided to make it a night on the town, so he had a nice place to rest and saved him the drive back to his part of town late. There were little inconveniences. The oscillating motor on the AC unit in our room made a faint wailing noise which was a bit of a disturbance. Someone else in my group pointed out that they didn't have hair dryers. But all in all I'd book at 11th Ave over a hotel any day. The library was a cozy spot to get some work done and have a convo with my friends. I'll be back to Denver and ill be back to 11th Ave, for sure. read more

Unfortunately, some unforeseen circumstances left me stranded in Denver with a broken phone after 2 am. I was able to get to a phone and call my mom who helped reserve a room for me at this hostel. My mom helped me get an Uber as I had no transportation and no phone (a storm at the campsite I was supposed to be at for another night broke my phone and swept away my car and apartment keys, leaving me without any assistance available until the following morning). Upon arriving, the overnight desk agent refused to offer any assistance despite me being able to provide ID, card on file, confirmation number and pin. I understand the inability to provide a room since he communicated that despite my emergency, I couldn't check in until 11 am, but this desk agent wouldn't even allow me to use a phone or come in for even a moment. It is around 3-3:30am at this point. I'm a woman alone, in my 20s, explained the urgency of my situation, I start sobbing purely out of fear at this point as I realize that I am completely out of options and cannot even be given the human decency to connect to a phone to try and update my mom on the situation and rebook at an option that could accommodate me for the night. Thankfully I was able to get into my apartment at about 8:30am the following morning and I am truly just thankful that no harm came to me that night. That being said, this hostel will never see my service again nor will I ever recommend it. The people who are employed at a place of hospitality are the ones who make or break the experience. Knowing the lack of empathy and assistance they provide to their customers leaves an awful taste in my mouth and I will continue to make sure those who ask me know to stay clear. As a Denver resident, there are similarly priced options in the area who will better prioritize your customer experience and treat you with compassion. Save yourself or your loved ones the headache and book literally anywhere else. ***Edit: I think it is also important to note that I am African American and therefore have to wonder if my experience would've been different if I looked different. This place is great. Walking distance to so many places, and an arrangmet with local businesses for a discount if you show your 11th Ave Hostel card. The room was clean and had fresh linnen. Everyone is so nice except for Frank- the whole time! Specifically, I was late checking out (28minutes) and he scolded me like a child! His professionalism and lacking. I've been nothing but nice with everyone and everyone there except for Frank was nice with me. His tone was aggressive, and his voice was raised. Doesn't seem to like his job. I was told that private rooms could request a late check out but not dorm rooms. That's weird because it would seem they would want to turn over the private room faster the dorm rooms have several beds, it's not like my room was full. read more

People were kind, the vibe was positive, and it was close to where we needed to be. I stayed here for a couple days during my last trip to Denver. It is located near the downtown area and accessible by public transportation. I booked the private room and it was wonderful. We had a sink in the room which made it easier to wash up without going out to one of the bathrooms in the hallway. The staff was friendly and helpful with directions of local stores and restaurants. Most of the areas in Denver are walkable. I was able to walk further down and check out Snooze Cafe and Denver Biscuit Co. If you walk the other way you slowly head to 16th Street Mall. There are several clubs nearby so you can expect loud music if you are staying over the weekend. The doors lock around midnight so people don't randomly walk in after a late night. There is someone at the front desk who is available to always help. My major problem with this hostel was the heating system was broken while I was there. It was a chilly weekend and the heat was not working. The contractors outside my door were constantly going back and forth and making a lot of noise. They were unable to fix it on Friday and had to wait until next week to try something else. The only thing the staff could do is offer another blanket. I was upset that this was happening and there was no way to fix it. Needless to say a freezing room put a hamper on the enjoyable weekend I was supposed to be having. read more

Check in was a breeze, the young guy with glasses up the front desk was really helpful and made sure we were comfortable throughout the process. Unfortunately the check out was not a pleasant experience, we were greeted by an old chubby white man who was rushing us out as soon as we came in. We had used the restrooms previously so we asked if we could use it again, he denied us by giving us a blatant lie by saying both bathrooms were "broken" due to a water pipe leak. He kept asking us if we had a ride coming to pick us up which made us feel very uncomfortable. We did book an uber, but due to how late it was our ride kept getting cancelled which led to a 20 minute wait. He allowed us to stay for 5 mins and after our time was up he pretended to take a phone call and told us the "office" needed help, mind you, this was 3am in the morning. We would've understood if we were the only ones there, but many people were still coming into the hostel to come to their rooms. We ended up waiting 15 minutes out in the cold in a city we were not familiar with. Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience. Stayed at 11th Avenue Hostel for 3 nights and got a private room (but shared the bathrooms). The room is bare bone, but it was sufficient for what I needed for the price point as I just needed a bed and a warm roof over my head. There's also a communal room, a patio and a partial kitchen on the 2nd floor. Huge perk that they have their own washer and dryer to use in the basement (quarters only but you can ask reception to see if they can break your bills). Walls are a little thin to the outside but I didn't mind it too much. The staff was friendly and immediate to any assistance. I ended up forgetting an important item and they immediately called me to notify me so shoutout to the staff. Location is great - close to some major bus lines that will take you downtown in ten minutes. It's also close to many museums and attractions in the area. A handful of restaurants and convenience stores are within blocks. The hostel also offer discounts to the ice cream shop thet share the space with as well as the pizza shop next door. If you're tight on budget, check the place out! They also offered cheaper rates if you're willing to do bunk beds with other people and also have private rooms with private bathrooms if you prefer your privacy in totality. We were lucky enough to have a room with a built in shower; but even if we didn't I don't think i would have minded it. We had fun at 1up arcade which is a 20 minute walk. I just checked out of a 5 night stay at this wonderful place. I'm going to address the noise first as it seems to be the reason for all of the bad reviews. Yes, there are nightclubs close by. Yes you can hear them. However, they are only loud on the weekends and they do not warrant enough disturbance for a bad review. I arrived late on a Friday night and there was noise, but as my nephew put it "you really had to listen to hear it". Also there were food trucks outside to accommodate the clubbers which ended up being a god send for our hungry late arriving selves. The noise was much worse on Saturday and it did wake me up. That said, it was only bad for about an hour at 2:00 am when everything was shutting down, and my nephew slept through it. So, yes, the noise it a real thing ...... but it was only disruptive for me for an hour out of a 5 night stay. It was crickets Sunday Monday and Tuesday nights. Now on to the good stuff. This place is spotless, spacious, warm and friendly. It's family run and you can feel the love. The general manager Jean-Paul in an OG is the hospitality game and it shows through with his thoughtful attention. The bathrooms are shared, but I never saw anyone else use them or even saw evidence that they had been used. Beds are sooooooo comfortable. Bedding and towels are high quality and refreshed regularly. There are lots of different lounge and hang out spots that are comfortable and tastefully done. The kitchen has all pots, pans, utensils etc that you need for cooking. Fridge is clean and there is a clear system for storing your food so no one else eats it. There are no condiments (at least not that I saw), so you need to buy salt, pepper, oil, etc if you plan on cooking daily. It is very close (walking distance) to great restaurants on capitol hill, the downtown area, and the Denver museum is across the street. It's a hostel, but not really because it's better. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. Some people are just beyond spoiled and act a bit high and mighty lol This place is PERFECT for a quick stay in the city. The room we stayed in, two queens and a private bath, was a perfect spot to lay our head after a day of exploring. As far as the noise....people....it's a city! If you can handle the noise, move along. And no need for fancy things like coffee makers, fridge, etc. This is not that kind of place. It's perfect in its own way. The staff have been phenomenal towards us. Very friendly and quick to solve any issues. My friend and I slept soundly, and I'm beyond pleased with everything here. Lots of outlets to charge your things (I have headphones, a watch, and phone and battery pack lol) So many coffee shops in walking distance including one right here on sight. Honestly this place is great. It feels like a hotel but they're choosing to make it a hostel. This is one of the neatest hostels Ive been to. Super friendly staff, bed was soooo comfy. Sure there was some noise, but it's a city -- what do you expect? It's clean and cute. Four stars instead of five for a specific reason. The property itself is amazing. Clean, stylish, and I slept wonderfully for two nights. I checked out early because the desk manager was clearly annoyed with me. I had some problems with keys and locks that we clearly my fault, but as a returned a key I had found, I expected he would be pleased that what was lost was found. Instead, he turned and shook his head. If I had been accustomed to displaying this behavior in my classroom, shaking my head at my students, I would not have been in education as long as I have. A little grace goes a long way. I'm still deciding whether I would like to return, or if I would be too annoying to your staff. read more

I booked a room here because I had a 14 hour layover in Denver on my way to California, admittedly by design because I wanted to explore a bit of downtown since I hadn't been to Denver before. I figured this was a cheap spot I could stop by real quick for a few hours nap before jetting off to my final destination (anyone remember that movie?) The rooms are small, old, not the cleanest. If you're high maintenance (and call me high maintenance) then this is not the place for you. After exploring downtown I had to wait 20 mins outside the building while waiting for an attendant to open the front door to the lobby, meanwhile being surrounded by homeless and obvious drug addicts. The price wasn't worth it to me, and if I had a time machine I'd definitely rethink this booking. *Note that they do have a sign saying they're undergoing renovations so hopefully they can modernize or just clean up a bit. And honestly, the one thing I like about it is that the building and business model has a very "old school" feel to it. read more

Good lord, what a terrible experience! It was tempting to give a 1 star review but the location was great so I'll leave it at 2! First off let me say this review is based on my reservation of a private, king size room with bathroom for $200. I checked in around 6 pm. It was relatively quiet with the usual folks that hang at a hostel in the front of the house. First off, parking is a joke. The guy that checked us in gave us these weird, vague options of where we could pay for parking and what was presumably safe?! Next, he told us the room "might be noisy" and if so we could move. Huh? We grabbed our bags and went to the room. There was no blanket on the bed and no coffee pot. We mentioned on our way out on our journey to find parking that there was no blanket on the bed and no coffee pot. The front desk guy said he'd get a blanket ( there should have been one) and we were on our own for coffee but there was a French press in the kitchen. Again, I get it's a hostel but for $200 a night for a private room there should be a coffee pot, Just sayin'. The noise was pretty bad bc of the surrounding bars but the kicker was the shower that night in the cool claw foot tub! The shower curtain was not fitted for that kind of tub so the water leaked all over and the claw tub was not level So you rocked while showering. Again this review is based on the $200 private room not the bunk bed hostel rooms. I think you can do so much better in Denver for that price. read more

Booked 5 nights for my stay in Denver (3 weeks ahead of time) and got in on a late flight. Arrived and it seemed about right for the cost. However, at 7:30am loud construction noises started. We laid there for about an hour listening to the hammering until I opened the door to see that the room across the hall was being renovated. A full crew was working and had all their equipment right outside the door. We went down to the check-in and they said they couldn't do anything (as they were completely booked). We didn't see anything about renovations while booking on their site and to put customers across the hall from multiple renovations seems in bad form (especially since we booked far ahead of time). Being overly tired we ask to check-out after 1 night and no refund (or anything) was offered for the night we stayed. If we would have been refunded I wouldn't have had an issue, but there was no reason to argue with the front desk staff who didn't seem to care. We did not feel it was worth getting upset and effecting our trip further, but next time we will listen to the reviews. read more

I should also say that this is the first time I have stayed in a hostel ever and I was on a solo trip. I got a European style room (private room with a sink in it) and was pleasantly surprised. I was a little nervous on check in (especially seeing the free earplugs) and upon seeing the room. But I was so pleasantly surprised! The room is sparse, but I kind of liked that because it meant that I had no motivation to hang around the room and instead got out exploring! I only wish that there was more space to set stuff/shelf space, but I got along just fine. Yes, it IS very loud at night. I had my own earplugs (as any traveler should) and slept perfectly fine after that. Yes, it IS hot at night and the room came with two small fans, which saved the night. (I see that a/c is being added to the building.) The location can't really be beat - I had a great time renting those scooters that I think all Denver residents are required to hate. It felt safe, there are some restaurants nearby, and all in all was an easy, clean, and great experience! read more

This hostel is so disgusting. I was trying to save money as I was in town for several nights. Big mistake! I've had great experiences at hostels before in other cities, and since I was planning to be working here I decided to book a private room with shared bathroom. Upon checking in, there was a very homeless-looking man checking in as well. Hmm...anyways got to my room and it was so old and dingy and smelly. The floor has that cheap thin ass office carpet and it squeaks loudly pretty much everywhere you step. The showers are in individual closet-type rooms and there is only 1 toilet per floor from what I saw. Also the 1 toilet was clogged for hours! Gross. The bed in the room is so cheap and sinks down in the middle. Extremely uncomfortable. It was kinda hot so I was looking around and there was a single plug-in fan. So ghetto! I honestly felt like I was in a hotel in a 3rd world country (speaking from experience). The next morning was my first day working there. All I need is wifi. They were under construction very loudly the whole time, including other amenities like the kitchen area which was completely blocked off. I didn't like that construction was not noted in the reservation or website as I thought I was paying for full access to those amenities. Anyways the construction was SO loud that I could not make my work calls and the windows in the building are so old that even if you try to close them, they don't close shut completely so the noise still seeps through. Additionally, people would hang out in that courtyard area right outside the window so they would talk and smoke and again the windows don't shut completely so you can hear and smell it all. The wifi is VERY unstable and turns on off on off on off. I couldn't work!! I went to the front desk and told the man my concerns about the wifi but it still wasn't stable. I had to go across the street to the coffee shop and use their wifi! So horrible! He told me to come talk to him when I was done. When I came back, the guy at the front who was the manager or owner or whatever said he would transfer me to another room with the private bath complimentary because of the construction noise and wifi. I agreed and moved over. Although the construction noise was not on that side of the building the wifi was still unstable and I couldn't get anything done! Even the private bathroom was pretty gross and old. I tried calling the website I booked through in regards to switching to another hotel and they said I had to get approval from the hostel manager. I went down to talk to him since he already knew all my issues and he allowed me to cancel the rest of the nights but he said if I wanted to check out now I had to pay $25 late checkout fee (I was probably like an hour past normal checkout time). That was annoying AF because he saw me having to go to the coffee shop and work due to the wifi so of course I couldn't check out on time. He was very snarky and rude about it and even mentioned he was doing me a favor to not charge me the cancellation fees for the other nights. What a d*ck. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND. I don't care how cheap it is. I ended up staying at a beautiful hotel in downtown and it was like night and day. read more

One must be something of a "fellow traveler" to truly appreciate this old flop house, which it is. If you're on a budget and you want to spend a few days in downtown Denver, this is the cheapest, cleanest, safest place you're going to find. I think I paid $44 a night for a room with a private bath. NOTE: spend the extra dollars and get a room with a private bath, otherwise you have to walk down the hallway and take a shower in the community bathroom, which is not half as glamorous as it sounds. That said, be advised that you are in a place where a lot of "hard luck" types live week-to-week as they try to piece together their lives...but, in their defense, not one of the residents bothered me while I was there. The staff is sweet but a little clueless. They screwed up my check-out date. This place is exclusively for the adventurous types who spend more time exploring the city than sitting on the bed watching TV (no remote). You are, literally, a ten-minute walk from just about anything worth seeing or doing in downtown Denver, and that's worth a little respect. read more

You guys are a bunch of vaginas. This place isn't even that bad. They have people who clean every room, every day. I have not seen ONE BUG. Imagine that. No bed bugs, no roaches. If you are looking for a cheap and clean place to rest your head, this place is perfect. Tomorrow ends my week stay here at the 11th ave hostel. Staff has been friendly. One guy tried to call me a cab. The cab never showed. I have been using the apps called lyft and uber so I don't have that issue again. The lobby and community area is clean. There are vending machines and also areas to cook food. No stove though. Just a microwave and toaster oven. There's a small fridge. Can't fit much in there. But Tony's market is a block down on Broadway if you take a left coming out of the hostel. Right beside the hostel before Tony's is a carry out with food as well! I stayed in the 4 bed female dorm. It has a bathroom with a shower/bathtub. Housekeeping cleans the bathroom and bedrooms everyday. We also have a dinette and small tv. Everyone gets a locker with a lock to put your things away. There's also a little refrigerator but it isn't very cold. This week I have only had 5 different ladies come and go in my room, so it has been very quiet. Everyone is respectful. I leave my bags out when I leave and am not worried. It does seem that people live here long term, but noting abnormal happens. You pass people in the hallway with a smile and go about your day. They are also doing some remodeling. My reasons for a star deduction: Wifi sucks No stove Fridge is small in community room Fridge isn't cold in bedroom Taxi cab incident Guy at the front asked me where I work, which I thought was completely rude and personal Housekeeper woke me up to move a few things out of her way, she was weird. I stayed here recently on my trip through Denver and enjoyed my time here. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was some renovation going on during my stay which was a little noisy in the mornings but all in all it was a good stay for the price. It was centrally located to downtown Denver, walking distance to the art museum, the Capital, and many bars, restaurants and clubs with plenty of public parking. The guest were nice and respected everyone's personal space and belongings. I never once felt unsafe on or near the property. You do get what you pay for, and in this case you get a 100 year old building. One that creaks and cracks and has a personality all its own. Despite its age the staff is doing a good job of upkeep. During my stay there was some renovation going on to one of the rooms which was a little noisy but not too bad. I will most definitely be staying here on my next visit to Denver. read more

Ok here's the low down: if you are a neat freak go somewhere else! It is however a great,inexpensive way to stay in a central area downtown where you can walk to cafes and bars etc. It's a bit sketchy at night and there is no safe parking apart from expensive parking structures across the street or a block away. We got the private room with private bath and it's an ok room. Very old fashioned look, 90s TV and the blanket and pillows suck. It's all polyester and the mattress is encased in plastic. Bed bug safe I guess. I hope... I don't feel confident that the pillow cases were fresh since I found hairs on them.Eek. The best thing about the room is the old fashioned claw foot bath tub! I enjoyed a deep soak bubble bath dumping one of the two provided shampoo bottles into the water! Oh and they take a deposit for towels and the room key. Again, it's a deposit, so you get the money back yo! read more

I stayed at the 11th Avenue Hostel on a Thursday in September 2019. My friend and I shared a room with two beds and a private bathroom, so we didn't really do the hostel thing -- it was more like a hotel room -- for a lot less money! I found the room to be totally sufficient. It's not nice, it's not fancy, and it's not sparkling clean, but it is clean enough. I thought the beds were comfortable and the sheets were nice. There were some construction noises, and there is no AC, but there is a fan, and I was fine (but I run cold and sleep through everything). I would totally stay here again. If saving money is more important to you than having a really nice room with all the bells and whistles, this is probably a good option for you. read more

This review is based on an entire week spent here in November 2019. Ok, first of all, yuck. I wasn't even greeted. The guy passed me on to another guy even though I was the only one checking in. He didn't apologize for the wait as he logged in to work, and when he spoke, the first thing he said was "Cash or card?" Wow. Nice manners! My doorknob was useless. You could only open the door by turning and holding the lock. Not very comfy. The floor creaks like crazy which is why the entire place is carpeted, but because it's carpeted, it retains all the filth. In seven days I killed 13 bugs (of unknown kind). I will say the bed, sheets, and towels were obviously clean, so that's why it's not a 1-star rating. The mattresses are pretty worn, and since the frame is metal, it's very firm and sinks in the middle. I come from a loud city, and the noise at night during the week didn't bother me (with the window closed), but it's definitely above average, hence the jar of packets of ear plugs at the front desk. However, the weekend was a completely different story. There is a club about two doors down and you can hear EVERYTHING, as well as get their smoke if you open the window. It opened very loudly, like a plastic prepared food container you can't pry open. Clearly they don't vacuum thoroughly because I found a pill on the floor! They don't seem to check the lockers, either. I found an old orange inside one! They "encourage" you to lock your possessions, but they also SELL you locks. Bring your own. The bathroom situation is whole nightmare unto itself. I saw blood on the wall that didn't get cleaned for DAYS, and there was some on the door which never got cleaned. The toilet is ok, but with a place that size it needs to be cleaned every day. It didn't seem to be. The shower is the real nightmare. The floor is purposefully uneven so the water drains down, so when you're wet, you feel naturally unstable. There is a rubber mat so you don't slip. Wear something on your feet (so glad I came prepared). There is no ventilation so it gets very steamy very quickly, although if someone hadn't used it right before you, it takes a good 3-5 minutes to warm up, and then it's scalding. The hot water knob in the bathroom near me was broken, and went around in an endless circle. You just had to find the spot where it stops dripping. Smdh. There is one tiny rack with three small and pathetic hooks that move, so everything falls off. It's pointless trying to hang anything on it. I learned that the hard way. Your stuff gets wet almost immediately because of the water vapor everywhere, including the door. The sink in the room was clean-ish, but had so much hair in the drain because there is nothing to prevent it from going down. The bugs liked the sink. Same in the bathroom. They do provide soap and shampoo, but the bottle was impossible to open. Perhaps that's why there were so many unopened ones already in the room! Radiator is old and pretty, and works fine. It's nice and quiet. Walls are thin, so don't fight with anyone on the phone. Lol I was lucky and only had to share the room 3 out of 7 nights, so in that sense, I got my money's worth, but if you think about the fact that if you stayed for a month, your rent would be $900 + the ridiculous taxes (better ask about that first!) and you had to kill bugs all the time, would you really think it a good deal? I had called in advance with some questions. I was told it was a mile from Union Station. Um, 1 mile is definitely not the same as 1.7. It's a short walk to 16th where you catch the Free Mall Ride bus that runs up and down the 16th Street Mall. You get off at the last stop, Civic Center Station (bus goes in a loop), and you walk straight to 11th. Avenues are long. Super easy, but I was told to get on a bus from Union Station that cost money to get there, so I'm not sure what that was about. No decent food by the hostel (in my opinion), so buy your dinner on the mall and bring it back with you. I highly recommend the Corner Bakery Cafe. There are two on the strip. Best quality for best price and quantity. Also wonderfully nice and helpful staff! The Anaheim Sampler is addictive. Not as important as the other stuff, but they advertise free Wi-Fi. It went out quite a bit. No, I wouldn't go back to this hostel. read more

Dirty place, horrible bed bathroom floor leaking water and really dirty, the room I was the heater didn't turn on and it was really cold at night, really noise during the day and nighttime. At 7am one of the employees was walking around with a bell making noise. No breakfast. The location isn't that great, I had to walk a lot to get to places. This review is for a dorm room on the 2nd floor, on a 3 day stay in early July. OVERALL: The stay seemed safe and inexpensive. However, the accommodations could not be less comfortable. I don't recommend this to anyone with a choice in stay. I tried to spend every waking second away from this place, and couldn't sleep when I was in the rooms. The Wi-Fi was down for my 72 hour stay. ATMOSPHERE: The hotel is clean, and no frills. No air conditioning, and a large ceiling fan with a light. The walls are sterile white. There are 8 bunks in each dorm. There is no furniture in the room, other than the bunks, and no lights. There is a very small locker (smaller than a gym locker) in each room with a key. The bunks are full size beds, with metal borders. I'm 6'2", so this was particularly bad. You cannot swing your legs or arms outside the bunk area. The metal squeeks whenever you move. There was no place to set your bag or belongings, other than the floor or bunk. Since the bottom bunk was not mine, I was left with the floor as an option for both getting out clothing, and for sitting. This is pretty unacceptable, since hte rooms had space for a dresser and at least 4 folding chairs or something. LOCATION: 11th is right on Broadway, and convenient. Parking is available on the street overnight (not during the day), and in a lot 2 blocks away for a $5 fee every time you leave. CONVENIENCES: The wi-fi was down for my stay. There's 1 sink in the dorm room. The locker was convenient. No AC was a problem - it was over 80* in the room. With the windows open at night, the truck noise and voicing from the street were louder than talking in the room would be. There's a sink in the shower room, but no toilet. There's a toilet in a separate room, with no sink. Neither area have a place to put a shaving kit. The showers have no flat surface to put bath products other than the floor. The white tile was clean, but very uncomfortable. Towels were offered for a fee. SUMMARY: Even if you don't have much money, you're better off camping somewhere, or sleeping in your car or something. I can't recall being less comfortable for an overnight stay. The people staying there seemed nice, but the people running the place were not. It was clean, but simple basics like flat areas to set things were unavailable. I consider myself a low-frills guy, but the fees for this just can't be justified. read more

I stayed here a little over a month from 9/29/2011 to 11/1/2011. I relocated from Orlando, FL to Denver in September without securing housing or a job. I was in the market for a cheap weekly hotel and am glad I stumbled upon the 11th Avenue Hotel/Hostel. There are a few different options when staying here, there are male and female dorms (the hostel), Euro rooms (with shared Baths), and private hotel rooms. I chose a Euro room for $38 per night. The rooms are a little dated and the noise from the bars and clubs off Broadway can seriously hamper sleep on a Friday or Saturday night. The staff were all friendly, the rooms and shared bath's were kept clean (The showers are cleaned each morning, so they get a little sketchy by the evening). The other residents were all friendly, outgoing, and fun. I really don't think you can beat the value here. If your looking for an inexpensive, no frills, safe place to lay your head for a week or 3, I highly recommend the 11th avenue Hotel. read more

This was my first hostel experience, and I would do it again! We did a private room- bed was comfortable and the room/sheets were clean. The communal bathrooms were clean as well, which I was preoccupied about before I saw them. 10/10 would recommend as a relatively less expensive option but also a fun experience. HORRIBLE. where do I start. The crackhead employees or the alcoholic guests you have to be around. The place is run down smells horrid and to add insult to injury anything you bring to the front desk they stick their nose up as if the place is worth a d&&m. Completely horrible I've never envisioned such a horrible experience just for a vacation. Never again. I would def recommended THE EMBER HOSTEL. ONLY $5 bucks more for a legit 180 of this place. The WORST hostel in Denver. - Bed's littered with bed bugs. - Showers had no hot water, when asked the staff said "the building is 112 years old, what do you expect?", as if that is a solution. - Staff incredibly rude, arguing with guests. - This is a typical 'halfway house' style accommodation. Full of people living long term. Oh, and you can't use the parking attached to the building. You'll have to pay up to $20 a day to park on the street. read more

Don't stay here. Its a total shit hole. As soon as we walked in, the "manager" behind the counter was rude to myself and my friend along with the people in front of us in line and behind us in line. The room was awful and insanely hot, no A/C at all, fans in the hall ways only. The hall wall was probably ten degrees colder than the rooms are. The room had two electrical outlets and neither of them worked. After opening the window the room cooled down a bit but it was over 85 degrees at 1:30 am. I got a horrible night sleep in this horrible room. There are people there that were clearly using drugs, not marijuana, I mean hardcore drugs. The bathrooms were gross and uninviting. I booked the room for two nights and after the first night, there was no way I'd stay another night. I went down and asked for a refund for the second night and the girls at the front counter(the only friendly people working there) were visibly afraid to ask the manager for approval for the refund. What type of business operates like this? Our room was 45 dollars a night, staying at a motel 6 was 52, do yourself a favor and spend the extra ten dollars for power outlets that work, working air conditioning, an environment free of elderly heroin users and a rude manager. I wish I could give this place zero stars, it was the worst travel experience I've ever had. read more
