a hand holding a cup of coffee

Great lil local coffee spot! The baristas were friendly and FAST (which is always the best!), the atmosphere was wonderful- it's beautifully decorated and the spaces are all well laid out for quiet work or meeting with friends! I had their signature drink (the Humboldt) iced, and it was delicious- 9/10! I wish the iced came with whip, but, I spaced asking for it. Then I also tried The Old Schoolhouse, a cardamom latte, and it was good- 7/10. My SO tried the Orchard Cider with maple and words fail me, it was the most phenomenal apple drink I've ever tasted! It was a 10/10 for flavors working well together as well as being the right temperature (hot, but won't burn your tong off!). I would absolutely recommend this gem of a coffee shop!

Iced mocha, yum!

This is a cute local coffee shop, and it's exactly what big lake needed to combat the multiple chain coffee shops. I tried the iced mocha and it was great, I'm guessing you have to come earlier than 9:30 to snag a breakfast burrito since they were already sold out by then! Parking is convenient with their own lot, there is patio seating for nice summer days and lots of seating inside.

Holiday Coffee Flight

Such a wonderful local coffee shop!! They have lots of different coffee options as well as sandwiches, soups and more!! The Holiday coffee flight is a new addition to their menu and it was so delicious!! They also have lots of ice cream options!! The staff was very friendly and helpful! There was a lot of seating and very clean! My favorite flavor from the coffee flight is Northern Lights!! I will definitely have to come here again!!

Superman ice cream with edible glitter!

A great addition to the community. Essentially being in a food desert, there are some quality eats here and a solid mission to connect the community. Came in on a warm sunny weekend and we were greeted by smiling faces. Our group ordered ice cream--The Chocolate Shoppe ice cream brand is a crowd favorite that screams Midwest quality! The waffle cones were amazing and the service was excellent. My daughter had superman ice cream with edible glitter! Can't go wrong with that. Very impressive! Let's talk about the place-- parking in the back is ample. There is a nice patio area that is well kept and clean. Inside had nice restrooms and common spaces decorated by artwork from the local Big Lake school kids. There were couches and also tables and really a lot of space that was a pleasant surprise. The coffee selection and baked items were ample and next time, caffeine for sure!! We enjoyed the time, the space, the vibe and ultimately supporting a small local business with other people in mind.

The schoolhouse coffee is the bomb over here at Ember Coffee company. Had run today could not stay too long here at the coffeehouse.

So good and so lucky to have them close by. I always get the Cheesy Beast and almond croissant. Best breakfast in Big Lake.

I've tried a couple of drinks so far, and I feel like salty Canadian and Humboldt are two of my personal faves.

Considering the fact that my husband and I came in with our 1, 7, and 10 year old sons and still…read morehad a really pleasant time I will absolutely recommend this place to friends. We had a grumpy toddler and a spill but the staff seemed completely unfazed and attentive. I didn't ask for more napkins but they appeared, I didn't ask for coloring books but they showed up, and when you're a mom a bit anxious about being out with your children an attentive and kind staff makes a huge difference between a good night and rough night. The food was great, the kids burgers were way larger than I expected, my French chicken (?) was delicious. The burger my husband ordered was certainly made from fresh ingredients, maybe a bit more bland than he expected but that's the only complaint and it won't stop us from coming back for a date night in the future. I also tried the Snickerdoodle holiday cocktail and loved it. To add even more sweet holiday cheer to this review the hostess let my boys pick from a selection of presents under their tree and when my 7 year old got a Barbie (not his style) she told him he could pick another. He got slime and I'm suffering the consequences but still grateful for the Christmas spirit and wonderful time the staff gave us!

Came in during their last week of the winter menu and glad we got to see it before it was gone for…read morethe season! Although it's a bit of a hike outside the city, still not too bad on a weekday and it was nice to get out and try something new! It seems like an up and coming area for Monticello and development nearby. We came right at 5 when the restaurant opens and got a seat in the high tops. NOTE! If you want to partake in the happy hour, you have to either sit at the bar or in the high top tables. We didn't know this and wanted their chicken wings on the happy hour menu so ended up switching tables. In addition to the wings, my husband ordered the corn bread app which was pretty good too! Wasn't a huge fan of the spicy butter it came with, but strange but the bread itself was good. The wings had a good seasoning and the house made ranch was really tasty! Surprised there were only wings and no drumsticks which I prefer and the wings themselves didn't have a whole ton of meat on them so I'd give it 3/5 on the apps I ordered the 12oz New York strip and at market price it was $62, came with broccolini and French fries. My husband got the turkey burger which he wasn't a huge fan of he said but he enjoyed the fries. My New York strip wasn't seasoned well - if at all to be honest but thankfully they had some leftover A1 from Mother's Day brunch where the bartender made some bloody Mary's so that helped. Can't say the food was a knockout but the service was really good. The bartender who was our server was conversational, great dude, and offered great suggestions. Host and folks were also really accommodating when we hopped around the restaurant so we could participate in the HH. All in all, great experience and nice place to try!
