So Hally is the new nail technician I'm exclusively dating. =) My first date with her was this past Saturday. I was double booked for two fancy events and needed someone to "fix" the acrylic full set done at a previous salon weeks prior. I told her I liked coffin shape and she asked me to show her a picture. I'm very confused as to how this nail salon has such a high star rating. I went today and here was my experience. 1. I called yesterday to make an appointment and they didn't even take down my name so I can only assume they don't really honor appointments. 2. I showed up on time and the door was open but no one was inside. I had to call out until someone came in from the back parking lot. 3. It was extremely dirty inside, nail dust on the spa chair arms, the towels looked filthy, etc. The tools did appear to be sterilized at least. When I was leaving, I saw they used the same manicure towel for the person after me that they had used for me. ICK! 4. The pedicurist scraped off the top two layers of my toe nails for some unexplained reason with a metal tool, and then topped them off with literally the worst paint job I've EVER had. 5. The manicure was even worse. The polish was globbed on and too thick in areas. She hit my finger with the towel and instead of correcting the smear just slathered more polish on. My five year old has given me better manicures. I am not confrontational so I just paid and left, knowing I'll never go back there. I had to remove my polish when I got home from both hands and feet, because it looked so terrible and now am heading out to a different salon to have them repainted. I wish I had taken a photo of my fingernails but I did snap a couple of the toes. I'd recommend steering clear of this place :-( read more

I went in to get gel nails and a regular pedi. The nail tech pulled the skin off my cuticle and it started bleeding. She did this again to my other nail but not as bad. The nail on my left hand felt raw because she proceeded to rub it with a towel and it started bleeding more! I told her I wanted to wait for it to heal, which totally ruined my plans to get gel nails done before my trip to NYC. She didn't even apologize and was so rude. I had my regular nail salon up until pandemic started which usually would do a decent job and my nails would always stay healthy and strong. Once the restrictions were eased up a little bit I decided to go to a different salon which is closer to me so after trying a couple places I kinda liked the fact that Em Nails Spa is not overly crowded and they seem to always have available spots and I thought, after my first visit, that the results of their work was fine so I gave them a few more tries. Big mistake! I have been doing gel manicure for many years now and have never had more damaged nails! They do such a bad job when removing the gel manicure that they immediately feel so sensitive to touch because they literally remove some if the nail with the gel by scrubbing so hard! When I complained the technician pretended that it is very normal and the nails will grow ticker after some sessions! Which is a complete nonsense! Because now after a few tries my nails are so thin that they keep breaking and ripping from the middle while I still have the gel on! I will never go back to this salon again and suggest them to reconsider their gel removal procedure to not damage more customers nails! read more

Probably one of the worst nail salons I've ever been to. As some of the other reviewers have said, the place is just downright dirty and the towels are filthy and look used. There looked to be fresh paint on towels they used for me so I don't think they wash between customers, The floors look like they haven't been cleaned in ages. I couldn't wait to leave. Em Nails had been my go to place for waxing since they took over from the previous salon owner a few years back, of which, I was also a long time customer. Unfortunately, my most recent interaction with Em Nails will also now be my last as the aesthetician who was charged with taking care of me, "Li", ended up being the aesthetician from hell. Li was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, DISRESPECTFUL AND RACIST. Getting a Brazilian wax can be quite painful so I always ask for numbing spray. I asked Li at least 5 times at the beginning of the service to get/use some but she wouldn't comply; it was only when I asked to speak with Halle, the shop's manager, that she finally relented... Here's the thing; she left me completely uncovered (from the waist down) when going off to go get it! No sheet, no towel, not even a paper towel. NOTHING. Li didn't even bother to use the privacy curtain in the treatment room. Leaving me uncovered would be unacceptable in any professional salon environment but with men also working at the said salon? I would have been completely "on show" had anyone walked in. When Li finally returned and started working on me again, she decided that it was perfectly ok to call my vagina a "pussy". Now, mind, I've NEVER met this woman before! Then she starts asking me all kinds of personal questions...I kept deflecting them...she then comes out with "Do you vote?" I reply "Yes". Next thing I know, this woman starts telling me who I should vote for and insisting that her candidate of choice needs to be mine! Wait...what? Am I at a salon getting a waxing treatment or am I at a vaginal political rally that everyone forgot to tell me about?! I made it quite clear that I wasn't happy with where the conversation was going. But Li just couldn't leave well enough alone...no... This woman also felt it totally appropriate to say that Black people complain too much, Blacks are lazy, Black people have it too easy and that Black people should just get over everything and stop complaining...Micheal Jackson made it; why can't other Black people? Yep, you guessed it; I'm Black. Black and British but Black all the same. Lastly, this woman also kept tapping/hitting me on my thighs to make her point... Now, remember, this is all happening whilst I'm completely naked from the waist down and in a vulnerable position! Needless to say, I complained to Halle as soon as I got away from this woman. Halle did apologize but kept making excuses for her...she doesn't know what she's saying...she doesn't understand... Li knew enough to insistently tell me who to vote for and to stereotype the race that I come from, so, could somebody please explain to me how she didn't understand what she was saying, let alone, how she was treating me? To add insult to injury, I was made to pay for this experience! I was literally in shock and I knew I needed to properly have it out with Halle but I also had another appointment directly afterwards so I had to go... The next day I called the salon and spoke with Halle at length to make sure she understood the gravity of the situation. She said that she did, but she felt that her saying "sorry" was a sufficient enough response to Li's extremely unprofessional and racist behaviour. I beg to differ. Obviously, I will not be returning to this establishment; I will be reporting Em Nails to the Better Business Bureau and telling as many people as possible about my horrendous treatment instead. No one should have to put up with what I went through and I will do all that I can to ensure that Li is fired, so, that what happened to me, will never happen again. read more

Did I mention she has done my lashes before and waxed my pitties? I didn't have time to do it this time around. But she's a woman of many talents!! I arrived and I parked at the meter. There are a lot of parking spaces out front. You won't suffer over the parking. I walk in and I'm personally greeted by the owner, and she even gave me a hug! She remembered me!!! And she remembered my name! There is a vast amount of colors. Newly bought nail polishes and the atmosphere is very clean. The chairs are new and the equipment looks to be very clean. I always judge nail salons not just in their performance of course but the level of cleanliness it presents. I didn't see any dust bunnies! Anyway I chose a beautiful burgundy color for my gel nails. I know, I'm boring. I've done gel all my life. But I've seen the work Hally does-- boy is the girl talented. We spent the afternoon chit chatting and catching up. It's so refreshing to get services done by someone you trust and someone that actually knows you. She's truly missed by me and many ladies from her old shop. Of course I got the best hand massage ever. (My favorite part of getting my nails done) The prices are very reasonable. Just check out the menu someone posted in the photos. Hally's work ethic and professionalism is just extraordinary. And she and her staff make you feel like you're a friend. And not a client. Like mentioned before, I've gone to hally pretty much for most of my 20s life. And I've been treated like royalty by her. My kid goes to a class nearby so I thought to try this place out. My first experience was ok that was on Sunday had a pedicure and I asked if I could come back for a manicure on Thursday at 5pm. Lina said sure and the gentleman that works there said ok. I come back Thursday had to wait, no problem. Then the lady started working on my nails (she had purple hair). She was rushing and said that I never told her a time etc. I did they just never wrote it down. She nicked me and made me bleed, then didn't file my nails properly, i said something but she didn't seem to care, I had nail polish all over my fingers and charged me $21. Not only did they get me in the same day I was even given a number to text, after requesting and appointment on yelp. I appreciate their customer service, and the professionalism. I have been going here for years when Diane owned it. Now this new owner is so very rude, the place is dirty, they never clean anything, and all the chairs needs to be replaced for pedicures. Don't think these nail techs are using clean tools on your nails just because they take it out of the little blue baggie. Any other salon I go to, they rip that bag apart but nottt here. They keep reusing that blue bag and don't seal the top. the bag is not sealed and they keep sticking dirty tools back in the same bag. If you notice, every nail tech is holding on to several empty blue bags. I literally watched them all and they're all in on it. Even the owner. First and last time at this gross dirty salon. Many places are closed random days or don't have acrylic nail tech avail all the time. Em nails is open 7 days a week and when they have a lot of appointments they schedule more nail technicians to get everyone taken care of. $45 for a full-set with gel polish. $35 for follow up Fill with gel. Very resonable prices and beautiful results. Best to make an appointment rather then walk in. Cash is best... sometime credit card machine not working.
