Their nails are as good as any other basic nail salon in the city... I dont mean that becuase I dislike this company and I am about to go HAM on them below, I mean that in a "this could be my go-to nail place...but also, so could the one not even fifty feet away (Hi-Lite)....and also.... so could the one two blocks from here"...Know what I mean? Nothing spectacular with the nails...yet, nothing wrong with the way they do nails either...I thought my mani/pedi was sufficient. I would have gone back... IF....
My one star is for the really horrible, unprofessional, entitled owners daughter - and her crazy side... she packs a lot of crazy in that tiny little body.
DONT GO HERE UNLESS YOU PAY WITH CASH, their CC machine is glitchy. They dont know how to handle it when it goes nuts and your money might get tied into that glitch.
Also, fun fact: When it doesn't work they'll call 911 on you, even if youre proving them wrong.
The Story:
The owners daughter said my card was declined. I looked online, I could see that her charge was pending. I tell her that the charge went through...she says no, I say yes, she says no, I say yes and show her...she still says no, I still say yes and show her again, but this time I wiped the fingerprints off my screen, maybe that was why... she still said no... I turned up the backlight on my phone - maybe this was why, she still says no... I call the bank, they say it looks like the charge is going through just fine... I tell her this, she still says no, I put the phone on speaker for her to hear it from the bank... she still says its declined.
It was Columbus day when this happened and the physical banks were closed. It'd been about 45 minutes dealing with this so I told her that I was going to go home and when the bank opened I would figure this out and come back with cash if she was right. I begin to walk to my car.... She chases me out and says she is calling 911 and that I am going to be arrested. I decided to take my chances. I figured I could get to my car before she could convince 911 that me walking out without paying $30 (that I was sure I could prove I DID pay for) was an emergency and a valid reason to use emergency services (psst, its not!).
NEXT DAY: I go to the bank, but BofA cannot help me past confirming its paid b/c its actually a BofA Credit Card. They encourage me to call the CC company to get the authorization code and give that to the nail place. I decided to do this AT the nail place so they have it.
When I get there I have BofA on the phone and they tell me the auth code...
This time, I am dealing with the mother who is the owner AND I am filming it, too.
I prove to her they did get paid. The mom lets me take a look at her copy of the receipt (that daughter wouldn't let me see it the day before) stating I had been declined and OMG I was never declined, the receipt simply said that she needed to call the merchant becuase it timed out before giving THEM their auth code (which is typically what businesses use to link the CC charge to the customer blah blah), but b/c this had printed w/ a big black bar on the receipt (I mean, to her credit, that is what declined transaction receipts look like. I can see why she made this error) she assumed it was declined vs. just needing to call for her own accounting records having nothing to do with me.
Uggghhh... that pissed me off... and here is where I turn into kid of a jerk: So, becuase I was irritated Lil Girl chased me and screamed that I would be arrested AND after learning about her really dumb mistake I tell her mother that I want my money back for my services entirely b/c of the crap her fledgling put me through... It took Mom a good five minutes to understand that I wanted a full refund for my troubles but when Mom learned she'd have to come out the pocket Mom went apeshit on me with lil girl behind her telling me all over again shes going to call 911 if I make them refund me... and Mom is yelling about how its not her fault its her daughters etc...(LOL she actually threw her kid under the bus)... I gave her two options: She could refund me or I would refuse the charge with my bank (which was a bluff cause if she knew better she'd know that the bank would side with them becuase I DID*** receive the services. I wasnt going to tell her that, I wanted a refund for this b/s...its not my job to make sure she's educated on business practices).
Mom tells me she will only refund me if I delete the recording. I say that's fair and get the receipt for the refund. As I am walking out Mom and Daughter run to door, BLOCK ME...I'm serious, they BLOCKED the door with their hands up in the "STOP" position and demand to see my phone to be sure its deleted. THAT was nuts. I show them its gone, but you know, iCloud... I still have it...
