Today I had my first visit by Em-Maculate Cleaning Services. My visit was with Kara. To set the scene: we live in a very light colored apartment with two dogs and yes, we clean, but we don't deep clean nearly enough and there is dog hair galore. Kara arrived ready to go - super friendly, bubbly, and COVID safe. We went over what my very basic expectations were as a first time house cleaning user and then we took the dogs and left - mostly because I think I would be awkward, not her. I got home and man, I don't even want to cook dinner because it's so clean and refreshing and beautiful. The communication, from start to finish, was quick, honest, and very direct - I wasn't left with any questions. We have had Em-Maculate cleaning our house for a while and there have been issues from day one. We asked for two people for a deep clean. A man and woman arrived and spent 4hrs cleaning. Everything the man. Leaned was amazing, the woman did not do a very good job, they ended up sending the man back to redo what she had done. We were very happy with him, he went above and beyond. We liked him so much that we didn't make an issue of him damaging our laminate flooring using soaking wet mop. Apparently he left the company and they didn't notify us. They sent out some guy we didn't know while my wife was home alone. She wouldn't let him in. When my wife called Emily, she sent her to VM. She sent a text back. She said that she had tried to contact us but didn't hear back. The only contact we got was an email that she wanted to change days. She asked for a reply if the change was okay with us. It was not so we did not reply. Also, during the time we had service from Em-Maculate Cleaning Service the price changed from hourly to fixed and the price increased without notification. When my wife tried to work things out with Emily directly she said we were too difficult as customers and she was dropping us. Who knew that asking for clear communication was "demanding". read more

Over-charged, unprofessional, and sketchy business practices. I paid for a move-in cleaning for my new home. I was purchasing from my parents, who were present for the cleaning while I was out of state. I was originally quoted over email that the cost would be $580. It ended up being $1,200, and there was 0 communication with me that the quoted price would change. I found out when I got the invoice. I was charged for a 8 hour session with 2 people working. However, my mom told me that for the first 4 hours, only 1 cleaner was working. Also, the cleaner was an 1 hour late. Mind you, they did not inform me of either of these things. So, if my mom were not there, I would not have known. When I confronted them, they said one of their cleaners had a medical emergency. (Again, I would've been totally fine with only 1 cleaner at first if they had told me about it AND had adjusted the price accordingly instead of charging me for 2 cleaners when there was only 1). I guess, they may have assumed I didn't know the owners of the house, so they could get away with overcharging me without me knowing. So, I got the invoice for $1,200. I asked her why it was this price, since at most it should've been $760 ($95/hour for 8 hours). She said since they only had 1 person the first 4 hours, they ended up having 3 the second 4 hours to make up the time. So, it ended up being more. Also, they said they were there 10 hours but "gave me a discount" since they were late and there were mix ups. I told them I was very upset and frustrated, because had I known they were going to charge me double, I would've asked they stop the cleaning and done the rest myself. I did not expect to be blindsided with a cost double the price. They stopped replying to me on email and we continued over the phone, where they inevitably did not budge and charged me the same price for the labor since they ended up having more people. I accepted the charge, but wanted to write this review to share my experience. It's actually 2 years after the fact and I wanted to keep it to myself. As a small business owner myself, I know how damaging bad reviews can be. So, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I just got an email asking to be connected as a business partner or something and it convinced me I really needed to write this. I'd encourage you to look for other options unless you're rich enough to be able to blindly pay nearly double what you're quoted with no notice. read more

If you like being ghosted and gaslit this is the cleaning service for you... **This review reflects my interactions with the Portland, OR scheduler and the owner of the Bend and Portland, OR business, NOT the actual house cleaners who were just fine.** I had a recurring cleaning scheduled for once a month in Portland, OR. Just before my December cleaning, a couple of days before hosting a Xmas gathering with family, I noticed they hadn't sent their automated confirmation email as usual, so I called the office at 7pm the night before they were scheduled to arrive at 8:30am and asked what was up. Mariya said that they wouldn't be able to show up for my pre-scheduled cleaning "due to the holiday". It was she herself that had booked my recurring dates a few months ago and confirmed those dates with me via email. If they weren't able to make one of the cleanings, why didn't they simply let me know in advance? I expressed my disappointment, explaining that _due to the holiday_ it was really putting me in a bad spot for them to be a no show, and that "we probably can't work together anymore". She said she'd have the owner call me. 45 mins later I get an email from the owner saying that they will no longer clean my house, because of "all the back and forth" about the schedule and that "the team" (Mariya) had felt "talked down to" and "not appreciated". The only "back and forth" about the schedule was this incident where I was trying to find out why they blew off my appointment, and me expressing my disappointment was apparently "talking down to" them, and saying I wasn't going to work with them anymore made them feel "not appreciated". Holy gaslighting Batman! I guess it was just the owner's way of saying "you can't fire me, I fire you!" read more

I scheduled a deep clean and was quoted a reasonable price, a reason I chose this service after reading reviews. The quote and the cleaning were a bit off, it was taking a bit longer to clean some areas. This led to a very deep clean bathroom, and more rushed clean for others rooms to match. I would advise getting an in-person quote. The deep clean refrigerator add-on only covered the refrigerator and not the freezer. The owner was very responsive and offered a discount to cover the disparity. There were very nice touches such as a gifted candle, lovely thank you note. The cleaner was very effective, however it would have taken a few hours to cover the entire apartment in the same deep clean fashion. Value 3/5 Responsiveness 5/5 Clean 3.5/5 read more

Emmy's work definitely lives up to her name! I wanted a deep clean of our house before going on vacation and she ended up spending 7 hours here! She was very responsive, incredibly friendly and very thorough. We have 2 large dogs and a toddler in a house with all hard wood floors so I really wanted to have those cleaned and they look amazing.
