Do not buy from this dealership. Beware - my mother had problems with her car two weeks after purchasing a brand new sedan. Ever since, they've been disrespectful, rude and short. They won't even come to the phone anymore. Her problem still isn't fixed. They are the rudest set of individuals I've ever dealt with. You're treated like a customer while shopping and signing for your car... ...But the second she drove off the lot, they did a 180 and treat her like a nuisance. I'm a young female and was terrified of what I heard about car salesmen baiting and switching you. I had an interest in the new Sonatas for quite sometime so I decided on a random Saturday to stroll the parking lot at Elyria Hyundai. Tom Hornsby came out to the lot and helped answer all of my questions. After I decided it was time for a brand new car, not only did Tom get me an amazing trade in value on my used car, but he also gave me an unbelievable price on the car! I was very indecisive when it came to the color and interior and the dealership was extremely patient with me. After being basically bullied to take my bad review off here and keeping my second key because they had to try and "find it" I will tell you exactly how bad my experience was. I went there to find a sonata and after finding one they tried to rip me off, unsuccessfully I might add because I did my research as should you. DON'T NEGOTIATE A MONTHLY PAYMENT.They will screw you with high interest rate and change the price on you. I left without a deal and they called me and said they were able to make the deal happen the next day. After returning (45 minute drive) they got the price but then uncertified the car and it went from a 0.9 % interest to a 4.5%. After seeing the bad review I wrote one here, we got back in contact and after being at the dealership the GM said they will give me the price and Interest rate we first agreed on if I took off the review I first put on.They went to "detail" my car after going to sign papers and after getting my car in the dark, they changed my rims with scuffed ones and tires with half the tread they had on at first and then there was a dent on the trunk as well which I guarantee they switched, can I prove it? NO but I am a very detailed orientated person because I work for Homeland security and have to be. I know for a fact that the rims were perfect. If it was me and I was buying a car from these scam artists I wouldn't take that car out of my sight. If I have to take my car in for a warranty or anything, I will definitely be going to a different dealership.(UPDATE) After commenting my review of this dealership, He says they rather give a average credit rating? Well they came to me and told me that I didn't qualify for better interest rate,( not because my credit score but because they un-certify my car)but I figured it out. Five times they claimed the car was fixed, and all they did was continue to break things! 2015 Genesis Ultimate - They had all the alarms going off! Once they stole everything out of the car and refused to reimburse me because there was an ultra-small print disclaimer saying they weren't responsible for anything left in the car on the back of the service order! If I could rate this location with 0 stars, I absolutely would. I cannot even begin to accurately depict my frustration and hurt while trying to lease a new car from this location. I had already leased from here, and I was trading my lease in for a new one. My lease manager, Sam, and the financial manager, , messed up my paperwork over 3 times while trying to lease this new car, and requested 3 separate trips out to the dealership so they could correct their mistakes. I am a veteran who already had a lease through Hyundai, and yet they needed new proof again of my DD214 (my veteran ID was not enough, and neither was the one they already had on file apparently) and signatures they consistently forgot. Besides screwing up my lease, no one told me when I got a new lease that I needed to turn off AutoPay. While I realize, according to them, this is my responsibility to know, I was under the assumption that when I received and paid for my new lease, I wouldn't get charged for the lease I do not have anymore. Not only was I VERY mistaken about that, Elyria Hyundai, Sam specifically, was extremely rude while trying to remedy the problem. I am a poor, single mother attempting to raise a daughter in college, and the last thing I needed was a car payment I didn't have to make. Sam's solution?? Well she could probably find a way to write me a check to cover it, and why don't I come down there and get it, and then sign more paperwork that she did incorrectly AGAIN???? I live 40 minutes from this dealership, so when I expressed that I wasn't able to make it there that day and asked them to send the check in the mail to me, she quipped, "I was under the assumption you were so poor you needed the money right now," because I had explained my financial situation to her, and then told me they were not able to mail the check. Sam also made sure to tell me multiple times that this was my mistake, not theirs, and that they are not responsible for telling customers to turn off AutoPay. I asked to speak with her manager, and she told me that her manager didn't need to be involved in this. I tried to call the general manager, Mike, and he never bothered to return my phone call. And there is STILL paperwork that I need to go back and fill out because their staff members were incompetent the THREE TIMES I've already had to do this. They are also being extremely rude, and I don't feel comfortable going down there to sign papers due to the hostility from the person in charge of my new lease!!! I wasn't expecting to have such a negative interaction with this place, but I can confidently say that they have lost ALL business from me, and I cannot encourage anyone enough to NOT GET YOUR CAR HERE. That being said, if you have to, certainly do not go with Sam. This was a GINORMOUS mistake, a large waste of time, IMMENSELY frustrating, and overall terrible. read more

I bought my car from here and have had nothing but issues. A couple years after purchasing my new vehicle, I got a carfax vehicle report on my car (offered to me for free at the dealership during one of the numerous times I had to come in for the many many recalls for this car) and found out the car had been in an accident BEFORE I purchased it!! I had never been made aware of this and bought the Car new. When I told the dealership they offered me nothing to remedy it and basically said it was legal and their right to still call the Car new because It had never been titled before I bought it and I was out of luck. I find this totally absurd considering it lessens my resale value and seems majorly unethical. I also had another issue that caused me to return during the workday twice for a very stressful experience due to their staff's negligence in filling out paperwork that I paid money for. Not to mention as stated before the Car has never ending recalls where it seems every three months I have to go back in to have something minor fixed and or checked. Went on a Saturday to review the vehicles available to us. Was pushed to purchase something that day, but did not have the trade-in vehicle with me. Was told that Elyria Hyundai is the "only" dealership in the area that offers an extended comprehensive warranty (10y/100k v 5y/60k) at no extra cost to the consumer. When the trade-in vehicle was appraised, it was appraised for $2000 less than KBB and $1500 less than a trade-in certificate offer from autotrader.com. We decided on a vehicle, but the neither of the two colors that we desired were in stock, so it had to be sourced. We had a carrier discount; which the dealership claims they don't have much experience in. Even though it is the exact same program offered to their employees. My spouse and I were unable to be at the dealership at the same time to sign the paperwork. The dealership went for the "divide and conquer" approach. Here is where they went wrong: -Tried charging for fees that were non disclosed (a sourcing fee, citing that to receive the discount we were suppose to select from dealer inventory. NOTE: Our program does not cite that anywhere in their paperwork. We double checked.) -Used car Manager calculated sales tax for the wrong county. (Changing the quoted price and payments significantly). This was after he had calculated it without our carrier discount. -Told us that agreed upon accessories would be available at delivery. They weren't. We are suppose to get a call when they come in. (It did arrive 4 days later) -Disclose that the "included extended warranty" has a $200 deductible for each and every visit after the 5y/60k. UNLESS, you spend an extra $500 for their "Maintenance Club". AND unless you come back to Elyria Hyundai, you still have a $50 deductible for each and every visit after the manufacturer's Comprehensive warranty expires. -Swore that they would beat any bank's offer for financing. Yet, their 3.77% provided an equal payment to our bank's 4.11% Leading to a lot of unnecessary haggling. The price was only OK because we argued back and forth to get the payment and financing that we knew was appropriate. If we had gotten their initial price, it would've been "bad". We don't mind a little haggling, but it shouldn't be a game of cat & mouse. This dealership was frustrated that we were educating ourselves and speaking with OUR bank before making a deal. They like to rush through and hope you don't catch them trying to pull a fast one until after you have signed and driven! ****** Once we expressed our displeasure with how we were treated, they started bending over backwards to keep us from cancelling the deal. (After they told my husband that if we cancelled the order they were going to charge our credit card, despite the fact they it was the dealership falling through on their end. To which he responded, see you in small claims court. ** I just found out about that comment) They also kept telling us how good of a deal we got. Both were equally annoying. We would've much rather dealt with the SAME salesman. With the SAME deal. EVERY time. They kept forgetting details . . . Really?! Be aware. Be educated. Be firm. They can sense weakness. ;) UPDATE: Their Service Staff are horribly rude. Every time I am there, they act like they don't know why I am there, despite having an appointment made far in advance. We got their Maintenance Club and had wiper blades changed while it was in for an oil change and realignment of the steering wheel (it had to be replaced under warranty and wasn't put back on straight, still isn't straight, but it is a bit better), but they claim that a rear windshield wiper isn't covered. Even if it says, change "all blades". My husband had to go to Ganley Hyundai in Parma and buy one because they aren't available in stores; the Parts Manager at Ganley said it should have been included in the change with the Maintenance Club. It is $14.95. If it wasn't for the services owed to us through the Maintenance Club, we wouldn't be going back. After the Services have been rendered, we'll go to Ganley in Parma. read more

Elyria Hyundai is the smart choice in Northeast Ohio Hyundai Dealerships. The Sales staff is excellent, especially Vince Cuffaro. He is very attentive to detail, makes the entire sales process easy and with no sales-pressure tactics that other dealerships employ. When I came in to sign the paperwork, it was seamless--no waiting forever, no having to come back because something wasn't signed or addressed...it was great. First new car I ever bought and I couldn't be happier with Vince and Elyria Hyundai. I bought a 2013 Genesis Coupe and Vince scoured the Earth for one. At the time I put down a deposit in October, there were only 7 in the USA that matched my criteria but all were already spoken for. Vince ordered one right from Hyundai and continued to check and keep me informed weekly as soon as the vehicle had entered the port of call in L.A. in December. He even provided me with the VIN number so that I could make arrangements with my Insurance carrier. See if you get that level of service and care from other dealerships! Elyria Hyundai is easy to reach either by Ohio Turnpike or I-90. Their Extended Warranty program is second to none and the dealership personnel bend over backwards to make sure everything is well taken care of. The dealership is clean, well arranged and the staff are great. My Advice: Contact Vince Cuffaro at 1-440-324-7700 for anything related to Hyundai. He is very knowledgeable and will address all concerns right away. I am very impressed and you will be too...even after the sale. read more

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. Totally lied to and then later disrespected by the GM and the salesman. Felt trapped into buying a car. It should be a FUN experience whether you're buying new or used. The day should not be met with crying and yelling. It was horrible. My husband went out to test drive the car a weekend ago and put down $500 to hold it. The car would be in my name and I needed to be there to sign for it. Car salesman, Chris S., told my husband that the deposit would be returned in full if we changed our minds. When the two of us returned for purchase, we wanted the price lower than what was offered. When they said no, we asked for our deposit back and they refused...what?? They said since we put money down, that meant we agreed to the price on the car. Um, no. We did not agree to that price anywhere! They also told us no since they took the car off of the lot for 4 days to hold it for us. First of all, my husband gave them money on a Saturday and we went back the following Saturday, so it should've been off the sales floor for a week..not 4 days. Secondly, we were TOLD that we would have it returned 100%. Total bs! They kept sending someone different to talk to us about it when all we wanted to do was leave...with our money. We were there for over 3 hours. They were flat out liars and I hope they are proud of themselves for being shady businessmen, because that's what they are. I'd never go back here or refer anyone here. I already posted on my Facebook page warning all of my friends to stay away. I only wish I had read Yelp first before my husband even went there to check out the car because I can bet that he wouldn't have bothered. Stay away from Elyria Hyundai if you want honest and trustworthy service from their sales, finance, and management teams. I took my first plunge into leasing a vehicle and the experience was so painful, I had to contact Hyundai USA to get some resolution. There are too many issues to list, so if you want the details, here's a summary. 1. Overcharged me for diagnosing if my old car was repairable. I pretty much knew the engine was shot since i had to have the car towed to the dealer after it was smoking and stopped. Also took way too much time due to their technician issues. 2. Their initial lease offer for a new vehicle was on average ~$30/month higher than any other local dealer. Later, they would say they were doing me a favor by reducing their offer. 3. Even though I gave a printed list of the build, the vehicle did not come with everything I wanted. After many calls, emails, meetings with sales guy and one with the manager, and escalation to Hyundai USA, I got most of these items over the course of 2.5 months. 4. The car prep was rushed and shoddy, even though I gave them an extra day or so. Even the day of picking it up, the appointment was moved from the morning to the afternoon. I had to go back the next day to get adhesive removed, and there were other prep issues as well. 5. On the day of picking up my leased car, even though they delayed my pick up time, I had to do a lot of waiting, and then I had to sit with the finance person to sign paperwork. As this point it had been hours, it was going to get dark soon and i wanted to take my new car for a drive, and I was frustrated and annoyed at all of the delays. I just wanted to get my car and go! It seemed the finance person hadn't even talked to the sales guy since she was asking me questions to which she should already have had the answers. In addition, I feel I was coerced into getting the Excess Wear coverage and didn't even know there was such a thing until then. When I tried to back out of it later, it took a while to get any response, and then I was told I'd still have to pay it throughout the lease and get my money back at lease end. Uhh, what?! In addition, they listed the initial mileage incorrectly on the lease which I didn't notice until that night. When I called the sales person the following morning, he said he had told them the mileage to record was 161, but they put 5 miles instead. When I went in the next day to get other issues addressed, he said they'd send me a check for the difference. They did send it, but ... 6. They are horrible at returning phone calls and emails, and I generally just had to show up at the dealer to get their attention. When I did finally get a meeting with the manager (with the sales guy and my wife in attendance), he was defensive and non-committal. He blamed it on bad luck, Hyundai USA, and everything else. He promised to complete the build except for one issue, and I should contact Hyundai USA, which I did. He said he'd send me a check for the mileage difference, said he could give me a few service vouchers, and complete the build except for the item to discuss with Hyundai USA. Mind you, this meeting was about 1.5 months after I picked up my leased vehicle. 7. After this meeting, while some issues were addressed, others were not. After emailing a list of outstanding issues, and bringing a physical copy to the dealer for the sales person to sign with my wife as witness, there was still no resolution. It wasn't until I said I might have to take further action and write reviews like this that I got a response from the manager. He sent a very curt email and basically said they did everything they could, reduced their price (which other dealers already met or beat), 'gave' me the things that were part of the build (except for the one item still on contention), and blamed me for having signed off on items. 8. I finally did get the check for the difference in mileage and reimbursement for an inexpensive item I bought that didn't really fix my final build issue, but was something to help. Mind you, this check was for under $50 and was 2.5 months after I got my leased vehicle. I'm sure the only reason I got that check was because Hyundai USA got involved. Still no service vouchers for all of my time and aggravation! 9. Their service department contacted me twice about setting up my first appointment, so I thought I'd give the dealer one more shot. I asked if the offer for some service vouchers was still valid. Their response? Crickets! 10. On the bright side, Hyundai USA worked with me and provided me with some resolution, thanks, Angelia! I'm going to work with another dealer going forward. So, I am still a Hyundai fan, just not an Elyria Hyundai fan. read more

1/15/20 i purchased a vehicle And nothing but hidden fees and lies. I test drive the vehicle. After i sat down to talk numbers. But first in inquired about my vehicle trade in. I did not want negative equity. So the sales man (scott) talks to i would assume the manager. He gets my keys look at my truck. Scott asks me some questions about it and they said they could pay it off 100%..i learned later on that was not the case 18 days later i still have a balance on the trade in vehicle. That was issue and lie number one. Secondly after the test drive i noticed there was a big dent on the fender on the bodyline. I told him he said he could take off $200. Seems kinda shallow but hey it's better than 0 so i agreed. I later on found when i bought the vehicle out not only did i not get that $200credit. But they added $300 to the price before i noticed the bumper. Issue and lie number 2. In that price of the internet price i was told gap was included. I never was told or asked if i wanted to add extra $895 issue lie number 3. I also was never asked or told they added an extra $895 for wheel and tire warranty. Which i will never use. I told the guy i work for a pretty big reputable auto repair facility and i get these things pretty cheap.. Issue and lie number 4 When i sat down after the test drive i noticed the steering wheel was off to the left. No one's perfect i realize that but the next day 1/16 i put brand new snow tires on it and i aligned the vehicle. Either blind people work in the back or your guys are just a bunch of hacks. The front and rear adjustments wernt even close. Heck just to adjust the front toe i had to use tourches just to break the jam nuts loose. That's not "just aligned" so i called Scott (Sales man) 1/16 and told him how disappointed i was so i faxed him a receipt for $75.99 for the alignment and a before and after printout of the specs that i adjusted. 1/16 was a sat so i wasn't expecting an answer right away being the weekend but no responce for days. I called him 5 days later (thursday) just to leave a message to see what his solution to this problem is. He texts me 2 days after Not calls texts me(Kinda unprofessional I believe) and says ill give you a free oil change ($20)and apply for 40 and drive or something like that. I guess on Hyundai.com you can get $40....are you serious that's your solution..the run around? That's issue and lie number 5. This is by far the worst experience and dealership. He listened to what we were looking for and picked out 2 great used vehicles. After test driving both vehicles, we decided on the one with less mileage. Larry and the entire staff were not only very intentive, but also very quick on getting us trough all aspects of the paperwork and into our new vehicle. This dealership offers a $25 gift car for bringing in a used car. You start by getting a trade in quote online (their own website). My trade in offer was between $7-$9k. They offered me $6k. It is their own website quoting my used car! Then you go in to get the gift card. i never got the card! I called a few times and was told "it's on the way". I have given up on getting it. I even bought a car from them! Very disappointing and unethical. Typical "old school" bait and switch. This is why I drive cars for a long time. Terrible service. Brought my car in due to a recall. Found scratches all over my car. The service manager indicated that it was probably from their car wash. It didn't happen often but it has happened a few times in the past. They originally agreed to fix. Later found out there were more scratches. They decided they were not going to fix any of the scratches. Even the original paperwork that they recorded on there walking around my vehicle indicated no scratches in the areas that scratches were found. The worst part of it was that they try to tell me that we had a conversation and that I agreed that the scratches were already there. Total lies . I love my car. Terrible dealership. I very rarely post reviews but after my recent purchase at Elyria Hyundai I feel I need to share my experience there. Our salesman was pleasant enough, and as so often happens when trying to get a deal, the negotiating focused on length of the loan and monthly payment.  We reached a deal on a payment for 72 months. Once in the finance office we were sold on the benefits of the extended warranty, to the point where we did not want the car without it.  Never once was the price of the warranty mentioned, just how it affected our monthly payment. NEVER ONCE did she say anything about there being a different length of loan being offered. She offered us the military discount because My Grandfather had served. Unfortunately, it was not until the next day my wife realized our purchase agreement was listed at 84 months, not 72.  Absolutely shame on me for not paying better attention when we signed, I just did not think things like this happened anymore at an established dealership. This was the first time I have bought a car that I did not have to initial the interest rate, length of loan and payment.  However, there was never a point any term other than 72 months was discussed.  This added over $4000 to our loan. When we went to have this corrected with our financial person, she apologized, and tried to fix it.  She told us that, some banks have different default lengths of loans and that the sales desk sends it over to her and she just enters the numbers. That was not entirely correct though, while I do not remember the reason she stated, she did specifically pick out the bank on the night of the purchase.  The best she could fix it that night to get us at the 72-month term was still $18-19 more per month or about $1400 over the life of the loan.  She also thought she could convince the owner to give us a free oil change for all the confusion.  I did request to speak with the owner, which happened about a week later once he returned to town.  I appreciate him taking the time to meet with us and in my mind was still a chance for his dealership to make this right for us.  He was apologetic for our experience, we are in the market for a 2nd car, he had offered to work with us on a new or used vehicle, but I did not feel comfortable buying another car there at this time.  He did offer to sell the car at the original terms with out the warranty, but after the sales pitch from our finance person, we do not want the car without the warranty.  He then did offer a service plan that sells for about $500, that would cover oil changes and tire rotations for three years.  There was a part of me that wanted to say yes to that, something is better than nothing, but we were not looking for something free, just what we originally agreed to.  There is more to this story, but this review is too long as it is, if you want more details, they will be in my complaint to the BBB.  I do not think that Ohio AG post their complaints publicly. I am not accusing them of bait and switch or being deceitful, but it felt that way to us. A mistake that egregious should be paid for by the dealership, not the consumer.  They sell cars daily, and this was the 1st I purchased in over 6 years.  I should have read the agreement more diligently, but since nothing other than 72 months was discussed I did not, a very expensive mistake on my part.  I am not telling you to avoid this dealership, but be much more diligent then I was, there are some very negative reviews about Elyria Hyundai  that I think are even worse than mine. I recently purchased a 08 Sonata with 85,00 miles from my niece.The car was last serviced in May 2012 at Elyria Hyundai.In September the car broke down.My mechanic told me the vehicle had a blown piston.I immediately called Hyundai and spoke to the service manager,Pat.He advised since the car had been serviced there to have the car towed to the dealership.A few days later I received a call that the piston was indeed blown,repair cost $4,700.00. i then went through the Hyundai Consumer Hotline process which is just a formality to tell you they will not back the warranty.Reason given,I am not the original owner.I again explained how I only had the car three months.The dealership had all of the service records.I even offered to pay half the cost which I felt was a very fair offer.All requests were denied. I met with the dealership owner Colin.He listened to my problem then offered a 5% DISCOUNT 5% !!!! I was disillusioned from the poor customer service I had received from the car dealerships around my house, so I took a ride (20 minutes) to Elyria Hyundai and it was the best decision I ever made. I had the pleasure of meeting the greatest sales team ever. From Tom- the sales manager, to John- my sales consultant, and Mike- the finance guy, I was given the utmost respect and rewarded with an outstanding deal on a new car. i would look elsewhere for service. trying to make long story short - you should beware of any place charging for 2 hours of labor (which is pricey $119/hr!) when you are only there an hour. yes, this was really happening (we got the price down). also, we told them not to perform any repairs until they checked with us first (we were there in person, so getting a hold of us was not a problem). they proceeded to ignore that and start work. they then tried to tell us that they had to keep the car as it was the end of the day, and that we would have to come back. thankfully we were able to avoid this from happening, as this would have been very inconvenient. there are lots of places to get service, so we will not be returning. you have been warned. read more

Had a wonderful experience buying a new vehicle. The problem was when I returned for the initial FREE oil change. I arrived shortly after 10 for a 10:30 oil change. A recall required that the vehicle have one of the computer modules flashed (aka reprogrammed - maybe 10 min for set up and less than a minute to do). By the time I was done discussing some climate control enhancements, which they could not do (as expected), I was finally out of there by 1:38, which included making a point to check the oil level before leaving - which the dipstick indicated was way overfilled. Their solution was to "drain all of the oil out and measure it". Obviously, just wanted to waste the rest of my day. They did not indicate that this was a problem and was just a variance in the measurement. I suspect, amazingly, as no one seemed in a great hurry that they did not fully drain the oil before the computer dolled out the proper amount of oil, resulting in an overfill. I spoke to some mechanical friends and they instructed me as to why over filling oil is a very, very, very bad thing. I immediately drained off the excess oil after finally getting the overly tight oil plug (which can lead to leaks by deforming the bolt and threads) undone. Wish I had just changed the oil my self, as you can see FREE is not always Free. Would you trust your car to someone who could not perform the simple and very basic task of properly changing the oil in your car? read more
