Lovely little cafe for brunch! We stopped in a few weeks back and enjoyed a nice "hangover brunch" on a Sunday. I always judge a cafe by the breakfast sandwich, and this one delivered. I had a patty melt with fries; the cooked to order burger smelled like a good steak (means good beef), $13. My friend had a club sandwich, huge with a side salad, $13. Fabulous thin fries, enough for two people. Breakfast served til 3pm. Last customers for lunch can order up until closing. This is a bar but the ambiance is more like a bar/diner. We enjoyed our Sunday brunch there with a group of friends. They have a pretty big menu, but when someone mentioned they had Chicken & Waffles, that was all I needed to know. It is my go-to, and a must try if it's on the menu! The waffle was your standard buttermilk biscuit waffle mix, it was as topped with a few thick crispy bacons, and three chicken tenders. Now, the thing about the chicken is that it's extra crispy but the batter is more of a chicken katsu and not a southern fried chicken. The meat on the inside was tender. I believe the Avocado Jack Burger was great since she ate all of it with no complaints. HA! I believe the pitcher of mimosas served about 8-10 flutes. All who were drinking appeared to enjoy them. The servers were friendly and funny. The pricing was average. When you walk in there, it's like an old school diner/cafe but with a club vibe. Came here for brunch with my fiancee. I ordered the potato platter, which came with 2 eggs and choice of toast/bread. I chose English Muffin. My fiancee ordered the rodeo burger with sweetpotatoe fries. Food came out hot and fresh. My potatoe platter was sooo good. I even asked for jalapenos to be thrown in there to give it a lil kick. Everything was cooked perfectly on my plate. And the portion size was great. I couldn't finish it all. My fiancee enjoyed his burger as well. The burger was huge and a good heaping of fries on the side. I'm not a big fan of sweetpotatoe fries, but these were really good and fresh. My fiancee enjoyed his burger so much that he actually ate it all without even offering me a bite! Lol. Bonus points for customer service. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. We've been coming here for over 10 years but unfortunately the Cornerstone is now under new ownership and the service is definitely lacking. We came in on a Saturday morning around 8am, and it took about an hour to get our food after ordering. When asked, server said that he noticed our order had gotten messed up, but he never came over to explain that there would be a delay. After we got our food, we discovered that all of it except for one pancake was lukewarm at best, and there was no butter on the bread, pancake or waffle. The experience was extremely disappointing and although the server gave us a small discount (10%) for the extreme wait time, we probably won't be back for a long time.... Maybe ever. At the end of the day, it's not like the food has ever been excellent, but the service and price have always been spot on. With the new owner came degraded service, so unfortunately there's not really a reason to continue going here. read more

The name is kind of a misnomer. This is a sports bar with breakfast food. The TVs are blaring and people are yelling at the TV just like grandpa's house on Sunday during football season. If you're into that, you'll love it. If you find this environment overstimulating like myself, maybe try somewhere else. The onion rings on the side seemed a bit overdone and the batter was falling off the onions. They were just ok. Next, I tried the biscuits and gravy meal which came with bacon, sausage and eggs. The sausage and bacon were typical and cooked well. I was suuuper disappointed in the biscuits and gravy. Don't bother. It came out cold- we told the waitress and she replaced it immediately........ with another cold biscuit and gravy. Lol. Asked for soft scrambled eggs. They were overdone and hard. But eggs are eggs, with some salt and pepper they were ok. One cool thing is that they have chambongs! :) Dunno. May give them another try sometime. Wow this place sucks. I gave this place a chance because Chicago Fire was not open for another 15 minutes and I was in the area. But man, I really wish I waited that extra 15 minutes. I ordered a French Dip and it has to be one of the worst ones I have ever had. And it's kind of difficult to screw up a French Dip. Just bread, bland and lukewarm beef. There is no cheese, no onion to offset the dry meat/bread combo. What about the Au Jus, you ask? You mean the flavorless, tepid brown liquid served with the sandwich? Yeah that was bad. Also, paying $14 for dry meat and bread with fries was a hard pill to swallow. On top of this all, it's not even busy here. There are employees just standing around and my service has been pretty crappy. It's largely empty in the restaurant and the server has come around twice in the past 45 minutes? I really don't take the time to write reviews about places that often. Even when they are sub-mediocre. But jeez, I'm almost impressed with how bad this place was. Bravo. read more

I DONT UNDERSTAND THAT. 2. Grilled vegetarian sandwich $12. Not a bad price, but the sandwich itself was horrible. Thick- THICK cut slices of cucumber. Tiny amount of cheese sprinkled on the bread. California native here, this is legitimately one of the worst meals i've ever had. Breakfast burrito was pure egg, tiny bits of soft ham and sausage, no flavor. My girlfriend got a horrific looking shrimp salad she couldn't even eat, the boiled eggs were gray in the middle and shrimp had the texture of jelly. Have no idea how these guys are in business in the lucrative restaurant culture in midtown. read more

If you're looking for a hidden gem, this is your place! They serve breakfast way past breakfast time hours, and do so gladly! The wait staff is friendly, and they make their customers feel at home. The full bar lines one of the walls, and they make a wicked bloody mary, should you want to enjoy a great libation with your meal. The bottomless mimosas shouldn't be missed either. Breakfast includes the basics such as bacon & eggs, omelets, etc. The kitchen is happy to accommodate most requests. You'll feel like youre dining at home. The plates served are full, and the food is a good value. If you're in the mood for something other than breakfast, go for the crispy chicken naan sandwich. This is my latest discovery, and what an amazing sandwich it is. Its worth every calorie, and each bite will have you wanting another! Ive had their burgers a few times, and while they are juicy good, THIS is the sandwich to order. The fries are plentiful, fresh, and you'll want to bypass them, so that you can enjoy the huge sandwich. It will be the cornerstone of your day. The chicken is lightly fried, layered with spinach, and so much goodness, that if you're able to eat the entire meal, they should put your name on the wall or something.
