Thrilled with the result. Brought my favorite shirt in to be cleaned and have a small hole stitched up. Thrilled with the result.

Had a couple dress altered shorter here. The first time they charged about $30, and it worked out…read moregreat. The second and more recent time they charged $88 to shorten a $40 dress. What a shock to be charged 3X what I paid the first time and also more than double what the dress cost to buy just to shorten it. Maybe $88 is the going rate now to do an alteration shorten dresses now at all places, but it shocked me and another customer who overheard and was there at the same time. Beware. Get a quote before doing any alteration work here. Two stars for the surprise and sticker shock.

There are some questionable 1 star reviews here for Kenilworth Cleaners…read more One person writes that the clothes smell like "chemicals" and therefore it can't be "organic" or environmentally friendly cleaning. This is poorly informed. All cleaning uses chemicals. The way you clean, is you have to use a lipophilic agent that removes dirt and oils from clothes. There's no magical way around that. The important question is whether castile or plant-based cleaning agents are used. In which case, that is what they use at Kenilworth Cleaners. Either way, I have been getting most of my dry cleaning done at this mom and pop shop for the past 3 years and my clothes have never smelled better, been pressed better, and have been cleaner than any other dry cleaner I've used. As for the second 1 star review that says "the owner was rude because she asked me to call back later because she was already helping a customer"...umm, that sounds like the caller herself needs a 1 star review. In fact, I read through her reviews on her profile and she goes around town giving everyone 1 star reviews, always asking to speak to a manager and finding out they are "rude" as well. There's an old saying about this.... The people who work at Kenilworth are absolutely wonderful. I recommend checking it out for yourself.

When I lived in the city I was spoiled with the convenience of dry cleaning right in my building…read more When I moved to the burbs 5 years ago I walked into one of the many dry cleaners in my town and gave them my business without asking many (or any) questions about pricing. I had a 2 year old and newborn in tow and just wanted someone to clean the spit up off my clothes no matter what the price. After 5 years of rolling my eyes at the price whenever picking up my dry cleaning I decided to look into other options. I called Skokie valley Laundry & Cleaners (thank you, yelpers) and realized they were 1/3 of the price of the dry cleaners I was using. Gasp. And for 1/3 of the price they even pick up and deliver my dry cleaning twice a week! As a working mom with 3 little ones I've learned that outsourcing as much as possible is key so not sure how it took me so long to realize that you can get your dry cleaning delivered. We've been using Skokie Valley & Cleaners for several weeks now and IMO it's 5 years too late. Besides the savings I'm loving the delivery option. Randy, who has apparently been with the company many years, picks up and drop off twice a week...and does the same for many of my neighbors. While I"ve never met him since I'm at work when he's at our house, my nanny is a fan. And I'm a fan of not having to find time to get to the dry cleanings, squeezing it into the car among all the car seats and (of course) the savings that can go towards more clothes that need to be dry cleaned.

The nicest people and they do a top-notch job. They cleaned my vintage down sleeping bag and it…read morecame out great. It was also less expensive than what I was quoted on the phone. Will definitely use them for dry cleaning in the future.
