Overall, it was on okay oil change. The issues is that they advertise the oil change as $79.95 for full synthetic , which is a competitive price, slightly less than the dealer. However, when I picked up the car, they added a mystery $3.00 charge and then $7.00 for an "extra quart of oil". I read another review that said they had done that as well, but they're convenient so I went there anyway. I have a problem with the deception and lack of transparency in their charges. In the end, with their shop supplies and tax, the oil change was $97.00, more than the dealer. I won't be going back. read more

April 29, 2025. I called for the price of an oil change and was quoted $49.95. When I picked up my car it had taken an extra quart and a half of oil which I don't have a problem paying the additional cost. When checking out I was being charged $73 and change. I questioned their math and additional charges. Turns out my total charge was $67.95 The charges were $49.95 oil change, $3.00 for something that couldn't be explained, $4.00 in miscellaneous shop supplies, $7.50 additional oil and $3.50 tax. If you decide to have work done by them, which I never will again, I would suggest you ask for the total charge, i.e., full disclosure. read more

Avoid!! I went into have them replace the lower control arms on my Toyota FJ Cruiser. I brought in the Toyota OEM parts. They quoted me 140 per side and 110 for alignment. There were four rusted cam bolts that had to be replaced. They charged me twice what Toyota charged for the OEM bolts, over 160 bucks, then 500 in labor, for a total of 803. Never called to update estimate and had an attitude to boot. Lied to me !! I live in town and would really like to recommend a quality service center. My wife noticed her Audi break warning light lit up this morning. She drove to Elmhurst Auto Clinic asked for checking up. They told her all four break rotors , pads and sensors need to be replaced (last break works were done about two years ago), and also four tires (two and half years old) need to be replaced ...total works cost $1985.38. During repairing they had broken one break caliper. Then they asked another $680 for replacing the caliper...The owner of this shop told me over the phone : If I won't pay him to fix broken caliper, I needed to pay him $1985.38, and tow my car home... My argument: Few hours earlier , besides warning light lit up, this car had no ANY noticeable problem.Few hours later this car was not drivable anymore after paying $1985.38 . If they damaged more calipers, how much additional cost I need to pay. I never expect I would need to pay that much to fix break warning light. read more

Had a great experience today. Catalytic converter got stolen overnight and before I even walked in a couple employees who were outside noticed the insanely loud noise and made me a priority. They were very communicative and efficient when it came to the repairs. Crowd sourced some average prices for the repair and was thrilled when it matched and didn't feel taken advantage of. Scammers. Overpriced. 100% plus mark up on parts. "Hey, that's business". Took my car in to get window fixed because it had fallen off track. It's fairly simple fix, takes less than an hour to do. Quoted for $300 in labor (again, for well under an hour of work), and the part for $170 which is available at any auto parts store for $68-$85, and even less ordering online (over 100% markup). The icing on the cake is the guy that tells me "a wire is twisted up making it impossible to just work with what you have, gonna have to replace the whole thing". LOL. So I take it home (paid $70 inspection fee, whatever) and take door panel apart myself to see that the arm just came off the track, no wires twisted what so ever, and everything works perfectly fine minus the connection to the arm that allows the window to roll up and down. This is for sure one small business I have no interest in ever supporting. Liars and swindlers. I wanted to "shop local" to support my home town....worst decision I made. Chris should not be customer facing employee. No "hello", "good morning", "thanks" from him. I don't expect Nordstrom Customer Service, but you get more personable service out of McDonalds Drive thru. Charged $69 (Diagnostic Fee) to basically say they don't know what part to replace. I said to put it back together which they failed to do (screws still in cupholder). Then I asked Chris to clear "air bag error" code, said that would cost another $69 to do. Car maintenance... not my strong suit. If something in my car starts rattling, dinging, humming, I just turn the music up till I can't hear it. If I see that the 'check engine' light is on, I deal with it by staring directly into it with fierce disdain then ignoring it for however long it stays on until the bulb behind it burns out. So far, it's been pretty effective. I just feel like every time I've ever gone to have my ride serviced, it's been either a total waste of time (some computer chip just needs to be reset) or a total pain in the ass. But not here. $24.95 for a no muss, no fuss oil change on my hoop-dee. Never in my life have I had such a stress-free, wallet-friendly, automotive-maintenance experience. After a co-worker mentioned he'd dropped his car off here before our lunch for an oil change, I thought about how I still had an hour + until my next meeting in the area and about how I was pretty sure I was due for an oil change an undisclosed number of months ago. I waited a few minutes so I could be sure my co-worker had left and we wouldn't have to make any further forced conversation, then entered to be greeted by the overwhelming smell of fresh tires (which I really kind of like). I waited for maybe 30 seconds, nothing big, and a man came right out to answer my questions, which consisted of, "Can I get an oil change?," "Can I use your bathroom?", and "Can I have my keys back? I forgot everything I need in my car." I would suggest going to the bathroom anywhere else in the area. This is definitely a garage bathroom, not really meant for the public, but that's okay. There's plenty of cute place to visit in the area. My car was ready after about 45 minutes but I was in a meeting and the shop folks were kind enough to let me leave my ride there for several hours. When I came back, I had no idea what to expect for price... just kind of hoped they wouldn't try to gouge or rip me off like what's happened 95% of the times I've gone to any chain places. My total here: $24.95. I was shocked. It's like half the price of those big box lube locations and these guys didn't try to sell me any stupid air filters or $40 lightbulbs like the rest. Just the basics and no bones about it. I left thinking they'd surely given me some kind of 'Yay! You wore make-up.' discount, and wanted to rub the low, low price they was charged me in my co-workers face... only he was charged that very same low, low price of $24.95. Ah well. This has been my go- to auto shop for 10+ years! I started coming here while I was a student at Elmhurst College and drove a Ford Escort and was a return customer as soon as the warranty on my Volvo expired. I get an oil change here every 3 months for under $25 and it's always done in 45 minutes or less. They have the best prices around for brakes, new tires, etc. They have relationships with the local dealerships and will gladly drive over to the Volvo in Lisle to pick up a part while my car is being worked on. This is a family owned business and it is always nice to see the same faces. I like that I have a shop that I can trust and when I am short on cash they will let me know what I need done now and what can wait. At my last oil change they gave me advance notice that I would need a new air filter at my next oil change...not a pricey item, but still nice to have the advance notice! They also have a courtesy shuttle and the driver will drop you off at work or home (if you are in the Elmhurst area) if your car needs a repair that will require it to be there for the day. Also located right in downtown Elmhurst! You can walk over to Starbucks or Heavenly Cupcake or a number of other places while you wait! Dishonest! I had a water pump replaced for $1,369. When I picked the car up Kevin explained nothing and the writing on the bill looks like a 1st grader wrote it. I paid $1,369 for (I guess) a water pump. I drove the car 23 miles and now it's making another horrible noise by the water pump. I took it back let them hear the noise (without even looking under the hood) and he said I needed a fan clutch. If this is true why didn't they fix all the problems when they had the car??? This is true of both cars we take to them, they fix one problem and days later a "new problem" appears. Were done with them. read more

I have been going there for years. Barry has always been classy, and they always fixed things right, and on the first try. I recently brought my wife's Lexus in for tires. While on the rack they told me the car needed brake pads and rotors too. When the dust settled the total bill was almost $1600.00. I checked around and discovered i could have saved a substantial amount of money elsewhere. I revisited the store today to talk with Barry about the size of my bill. I don't know if I got him on a bad day or what, but he wasn't very receptive to my comments. He aggressively defended his prices, claiming their prices are the lowest in the area. (It sitting in the garage for 2 years wasn't good for it and caused calibers to rust, etc.) Chris & the crew and EAC took real good care of making sure my car is safe to drive. Explained what was wrong, and why I needed more than just replacing brake pads. Reasonable prices and great service. No-one likes to have to spend $$ on routine car maintenance, but it's necessary and I have complete trust in the team at EAC. Have been going Elmhurst Auto Clinic for several years to maintain our German import sedan. It's tough to find reasonable, honest mechanics and a shop that does good quality work that you can trust. Elmhurst Auto Clinic is a great local shop that does quality work across many car brands. I recently was diagnosed with several coolant issues ( thermostat, cross pipes, hoses, and etc). Our car is running great after the fix with all overheating issues resolved and the price of the fix was under half of the quote from the local dealer. I have bought 6 run flat Pirelli tires in the LAST YEAR alone from this establishment. I bought 2 more tires just the other day because some how even though these tires are meant to never go flat, I have had going on 8 flat tires in the last year. On premium run flat tires from here. That's not the problem. Kevin is the problem. I am a woman, with no tool set. And he laughed when I asked him kindly to help me get the tow hook unscrewed from my car. As I walk back in the man is literally spraying the ceiling walls desk ANYTHING IN SITE, with fabreze. I was diagnosed with Cancer a year and a half ago, and receive medical mariana treatments to decimate my pain. I understand he may not like the brief smell of the marijuana while I payed $600 for my car repair. I was in there for 3 minutes. Regardless you never know what someone is going through. So to go back in to a place I have continually taken my car back to and spent good money, to see him ignorantly spraying fabreze as if I smell horrible, laughing to take my tow hook off. Is it possible to give a review of negative stars? The basic idea with this place is to avoid it like the plague. I took my boyfriends vehicle there with a tire problem while we were in town working an art show and the two men in the office, one seemed like the owner, were sexist, tried to rip me off, and personally attacked myself and my boyfriend. Before I even had them look at the tire the "owner" directly implied I wouldn't know what year the vehicle was because I was a woman. Then upon seeing the tire they tried to convince me it couldn't be repaired and should be replaced. When I decided not to have it repaired there they started telling me my boyfriend was an F*cking idot, I should break up with him, that I was putting people at danger and they "hated people like me." The insults went on and on. I have never experienced such verbal abuse. When they finally gave me back my keys they blocked me in so I couldn't leave. They left me sitting in my car for about 10 min. When we took the car to a different place they had no problem fixing the tire and it has been fine. Not to mention the price they quoted me for a tire was outrageously expensive, much more then I could get it somewhere else. These people were jerks, I would never go back there and because of my service have considered reporting them to the BBB. read more

I have been going to these guys for a few years and am starting to see a poor trend. Initially, the convenience of the shop was what drew me in(10 min walk when i drop my car off). Now i see convenience isnt worth the hassle . From oil changes to serpentine belt to brakes to alignments, we had a lot of different jobs done on our 2002 acura mdx(now sold) and 2000 mercedes clk. The price are extremely competitive but here is where you must be careful, since fixing a poor initial job will ultimately cost you more. The oil changes were decent (really how hard are they to perform). But the last one they botched by installing the filter incorrectly, slowly over the course of the next month oil dripped onto my garage floor until I took the car to International autobody on Lake, thinking it was a faulty gasket. That cost me $100 in clean up. When i came in to change the brakes for the second time on my acura, the guy(the owner) in charge tells me that "who ever installed the last brakes installed the wrong type"..... Little did he know that it was his shop that did the work. Over all, the work is average at best but the prices are competitive. read more

I was traveling through Chicago traveling back to Michigan when my car died on I-290 EB right at St. Charles. I called the Auto Clinic to ask if they were able to help, if they were able to get my vehicle in today and if they would be able to start the repair. They told me they would be able to. I had the vehicle towed there, they met me with a smile and had the tow truck put my vehicle right into one of their bays. They took a look at it and said they should be able to complete the repair today. They told me to go grab lunch which I did. I was back on the road within 3 hours of my car dying on 290 with a new alternator and battery. Great people! read more

I've been going there for years. I find the service great and the prices much better than dealers. More than once I've went in with a "check engine light" on. The problem was low air in a tire. They took care of it and didn't charge me a cent. I'm a senior citizen, and if I think my tires are low on air I stop in and they check and fill them. Chris is a very nice and honest guy. They said they were unable to fix the brake pads without the rotors because of their inability to do professional or good work. They charged a $40 inspection fee after failing to do anything but look at my car. They are extremely incompetent and overpriced. I would not trust them with your business. read more
