Do Not trust or take your car for repairs to JMS Auto Repairs. They Do Not provide Quality service and they are NOT CERTIFED TRAINED MECHANICS, they take short cuts to cheat the customer with fast sloppy unskilled service; and in my case done major damage to my front drivetrain while doing a simple front brake type job. Frank took a Powerfull Impact Hammer Wrench to my front axle connection, hammered it for more then 15 minutes, and damaging the front drivetrain to the point that the axle was Distored at the Connection To Transmission and at Rotor Assembly.,.. his experiance must from a Mexico junk yard demolation - rather then being at a certifed proper mechanic training ; the axle was damaged & distorted causing the car to vibrate while driving. The new part he was to install even had a instruction sheet available stating not to apply a power torque wrench to the front end part he took apart -- in fact it was not necessary at all to take apart the axle from the rotor in doing the job he was told to to--- Frank does not know the correct way to do important auto repairs. I spoke to Jeff about the damage they caused after driving the car with shakey viberation and damaged ride - but he could not care -.. he got my money & the customer got screwed. Avoid this place for SO CALLED auto service... read more

If the option was there is would be a -1 star They are not honest, they worked on my motorcycle. Jeff said he would use OEM parts, He did Not. he decided without consulting me to rebuild the alternator But i requested a new OEM one Back breaks not working after his work. they would auto apply and stick. He said he rebuilt the master cylinder an caliper- and he did not. After tearing the bike apart i found that it was the original master and not rebuilt. and according to the book it recommends not rebuilding but replacing. and he also said he could not find the parts and after a short web search i did find them online all new with multiple sources with ranging prices. So i have to say i am not happy with his Service and his dishonest behavior when trying to remedy the situation. -Would not recommend to Anyone- read more

I literally just had the best auto mechanic experience in my life. I had taken my car to the dealership for a recall and, of course, they found $1,800 worth of repairs that needed to happen - much were due to the age of the car, not the miles. I took the car to Jeff for a second opinion. Not only was he highly responsive, he actually called me into the shop while the car was on the lift to give me his team's diagnosis. He gave me confidence they were honest and we took care of all the necessary repairs that day. In the end, I saved $900 and they earned a new customer. I'll be bringing both of our cars to his shop for any future repairs. Like many reading this review, as a consumer, it's difficult to know and find an honest, reliable mechanic with great customer service. If you're in need of auto help or a second opinion, give JMS a call. read more

December the 4th of 2014, I had all NEW rotors, pads and REAR CALIPERS replaced (due to "freezing") Now, they look like the video I just posted. I understand metal parts rust but this rust appears to be that of the old calipers. Meaning, the old calipers and rotors were never replaced. The reason I brought the vehicle back to JEFF was to fix the issues. The issues it had back in December. Yes! The same thing happened. The calipers "froze" and grinded the pads all the way down the rotor. (See picture and video) You can hear the grinding of metal as you drove and pressed down on the brake pedal. Jeff had my receipt but he "could not find" the receipt proving that he bought and placed new rear calipers, rotors and pads on my vehicle. So he did what he knew he had to do. Replace what he never replaced. The irony, Jeff has a bible roped onto his bike. I question it all. read more

JMS Auto Repair - Does this look like a new caliper? Hm. I didn't think so either. I do understand that metal parts of rust...however.. - Auto Repair Near Me - Elmhurst, Illinois

I was driving on the highway to work when my car started shaking back and forth, wildly. It was shaking so hard that I had to pull over. I called a few mechanics that were local and JMS said they had time to look at my car. I drove over very slowly and they discovered that a bolt was missing from my engine and that's why it was swinging back and forth. They were fast, knowledgeable, courteous, and kind. They charged me a very fair price and I could not thank them enough! read more

If you are looking for a great honest mechanic this is your place. They fixed my car when the dealer could not figure it out. They did not overcharge me, Jeff is super friendly and patient he walks you through every detail before he does any work, that way you know exactly what the process is going to be. He dealt with my warranty company with great patience which I'm sure was not easy! I have had a lot of experience With horrible mechanics, thank God I finally found a good one. I cannot say enough good things about this place!!! read more

I fix my cars two times in this location And i am so happy i pick this mechanic i will definitely come back if my car brake in again i run construction business so i got 4 trucks right now Thank you Jeff read more

Found this place on Yelp after my car was diagnosed at the dealership with a costly problem. Jeff gave me a quote a 3rd of the estimate from the dealer and one that I felt was fair. He was able to get me into their schedule quickly and repaired the problem on budget. He also confirmed for me that my rear brakes didn't need service which was something else the dealership said I needed. So Jeff saved me $ there too! I highly recommend them! read more

I had a great experience with Jeff and his crew. They quickly diagnosed the problem in my wife's car, laid out the options of getting it fixed, and LEFT THE DECISION up to me. No pressure to get repairs done. It was my choice. This was great because in the past I've gone to the dealership and they would just "happen to find" something wrong or that I needed to do a "flush" of something in my car. The PRESSURE you into getting it done and you walk out paying $100-$200 more than what you were expecting. Really? Not here. Quick service without the pressure. Sam did the repairs on my vehicle and he was great. An overall great experience. Highly recommend! read more

These guys are very trustworthy and their prices are excellent. They have saved me money on more than one occasion when they could have easily sold me on something that I didn't need. I highly recommend this place read more

Jeff and his team are amazing! We have three cars as we all work and have been going to Jeff for years. We have recommended JMS to all our friends and family, cannot say enough great things! read more

Came for a diagnosis of a strange car sound. JMS did this for no charge and gave me sound advice. Will return.

I signed up to Yelp, just to write a review. I was stranded in the early morning hours, with a car that had a smoking engine, in an area unknown to me. I found JMS doing a search on my phone, and went there because it had by far the best reviews. Jeff Durante had me in and out so I could make my meetings, even making a part for my car. It drives better than ever and his honesty, courtesy, professionalism, and ability were spectacular. I can't give the amount of praise this shop deserves, but I can recommend it without hesitation read more

In June 2015 I had JMS Auto Repair look at and service a used car I had just purchased. I expected a number of items to need repair, but it turns out some of them were unneeded. Jeff did not try to sell me work that wasn't needed. The evaluation, diagnosis and repair work was done well, communication was great, and the pricing very fair. The ability to get a hold of Jeff and talk to him directly is a VERY helpful benefit in using JMS. I highly recommend JMS - 5 stars! August 11 update: Jeff (and Dan and Frank) did it again for me. Only 4 days before my daughter had to take the car to Montana, it was involved in a weekend fender-bender. By Tuesday JMS replaced an exterior mirror, painted to the right color, and fixed the dents and scratches beautifully. Jeff and his team made the car look as good as new again. The work, the timing and the price were fantastic. I was a bit surprised they could even do the body work. My wife kept sayng she couldn't believe how wonderfully it was done. read more

Jeff, the owner is smart, hardworking, and very honest. My husband and I own 3 cars, 2 of them are older, so we love having Jeff and his team just a few blocks away. It is our first stop for any car needs. Before we really knew the shop, my husband would get multiple quotes on any car work that we needed, Jeff always came in the lowest. Now we don't even bother getting other estimates. Twice, we have taken our car to Jeff for major repairs and he has told us to go to the dealer, because the work was covered by a recall. Both times the dealer did the repairs (one of them was completely rebuilding the transmission of our SUV) for free. This is an example of Jeff putting his customers above his profits. Recently, I stopped by to have Jeff help me loosen a bolt on a kids bike to install some training wheels for me because I didn't have the right tool at home. Jeff realized it was a tougher job than I thought and ended up installing the training wheels for me complete with required custom modifications to the bike. I don't think Jeff is getting into the bike mechanic business, but this just shows what a stand-up guy he is. read more

I've had nothing but great experiences here. Very nice owner and completely fair and reasonable pricing. Much cheaper than the dealer and never feel like I'm trying to be oversold. Highly recommend! read more

I had anti freeze leaking inside my mini-van. It was Christmas Eve and I was willing to wait until after the Holiday so no to upset any of the mechanics' schedules. Jeff insisted I bring it in so I wasn't breathing in the antifreeze. It was fixed within hours! And they follow up to make sure everything is still working! We have been here a couple times now and will continue to give them our business. read more

So had an emergency with my 2003 Silverado this weekend. Heard a loud rattling and called JMS to see if they were open. Jeff answered and I think they had just closed but he asked what was wrong and told me to bring it by. Long story short he found that the strap holding in my gas tank broke (and he showed me). He ordered the part immediately and stayed after closing hours to fix it so I could leave that day. Amazing customer service. I don't live in the area but if I did I would absolutely come back. Strongly recommend. read more

Jeff and his staff are as good as it gets in the automotive business. Normally, the thought of bringing my car to a shop filled me with dread that I was about to be ripped off and oversold. JMS has been the complete opposite experience for me. Jeff always takes his time to explain options to me and they are all gifted and efficient mechanics. They are honest and stand by their work. Now, I wouldn't think of taking my cars elsewhere! read more

A huge thanks to Jeff and the team at JMS Auto Repair. My daughter, who is living in Chicago for the semester, had her catalytic converter stolen on a Thursday, and was headed back here to Wisconsin for the weekend on Friday. Jeff stayed late for her to get the car to the shop and got it fixed by the next afternoon. He even gave her a ride home after she dropped of the car. Proves there is still people who give the extra for customers, even in the big city. They would get all my service work, if they were only closer. Thanks again. read more

A huge shout out to Jeff and his staff!!!! I called yesterday with my battery light staying on. He took me this afternoon and worked really hard to get it done today so I would have a car to go to work tomorrow. Jeff diagnosed my problem as my alternator. He called to inform me of his findings and to get the go ahead before doing any repairs. If you have any car repairs that need to done, please take my word for it and go to JMS AUTO REPAIR!!!! It is nice to have a reliable place to be able to take my car to get fixed. Thank you !!!! read more

I had a great experience with the mechanics at JMS. They saved me $450 over the dealership for an emissions repair. They completed the job in a timely manner and even offered me a ride to and from the repair shop! Jeff, the owner, is a great guy and is very honest and takes the time to answer any and all questions. I will not hesitate to use JMS again. read more

I have never written a review before but I felt I had to write a review after the great service I received from Jeff this morning. I have a '97 BMW with awful cupholders. I had just purchased a huge cup of Starbucks and was driving home and it spilled all over the center console which then caused me to accidently hit my hazards which were then stuck on blinking due to the coffee (yes, it was a rough morning). I called JMS and Jeff shared he had a packed morning but to bring the car in. I took it over and Jeff explained what he needed to do and offered to drive me to my house while they looked at it. I lived close by so walked home, but once home realized I had my keys in my pocket (like I said...rough morning). I called Jeff and he offered to come pick them up on his way dropping off someone else home. An hour later the car was ready to pick up. I appreciated Jeff's help and the fact he was very straight forward and honest and did not try to take advantage of the fact that I am clueless about cars. I highly recommend this auto repair shop if you find yourself in a bind or in need of repair. Although the pricing was very fair - it was an expensive cup of coffee! Thanks again!!!!!! I come to JMS all the way from the city because I trust they will do the job right! Jeff has always worked with me to ensure I understand what work they will be doing on my car, and lets me know what options I have if any repairs are needed. The prices are fair, and they only suggest replacement parts if they know it will fix the problem. He truly wants the best for his customers, and always takes a few minutes to talk. I've been to other mechanics, but none of them treat me like a friend. And that is why I keep coming back, thanks JMS Auto Repair! read more
