We have been taking our cars there for oil changes and basic fluid fills. Always quick and no nonsense. Recently my son took his car there to get new valve cover gaskets. They changed out the gaskets and when he got the car back it was running rough and smoking. We brought it back and the guys at Sooper Lube went to work on it again. They fixed a couple things including things that had nothing to do with the work they did. They didn't charge him for the extra work done and got the car back running better than when we brought it in. I think they lost money on the job, but standing behind their work was more important than making a profit off the job. They do not try to upsell here like some other places in Villa Park. Their prices are reasonable and their work is top quality. I can't say enough good about this business. My first visit was last year for an oil change, and I was impressed with how quickly they took care of me and how "low-pressure" they are! No one was trying to sell me something I didn't need and couldn't afford. Today I was three months behind schedule for the next oil change, but Steve told me that, with my low mileage history, I might not need oil changes that often. I got the very thorough full service package, which includes checking all the fluids and filters. Apparently, a squirrel chewed through one of my filters, so I had to replace that. Still under an hour and under $150 for the whole bill, including synthetic oil. My car runs so much better now, too! read more

Been going to Sooper lube for many years. Brought my car for a noise coming from front left tire. He couldn't see me so I made an appointment, jus mechanic drive the car didn't hear anything!!!!! Took it to my friends mechanic in Burr Ridge, there was a definite problem we got it fixed! A month ago my husband brought his car in for an oil change we were told his anti freeze needed to be flushed so my husband agreed. Few days later my husband smelled an order and the car was leaking anti freeze! We called Sooper Lube back took the car in they said it would cost $1,0000+ to fix!!!! The car was fine before he flushed it! I told my son and friends what happened and was told you never flush in an older car, you would think they would know that! After all the years as his customer I will never go back! I'm feeling the longer in business he doesn't care much anymore! read more

Three weeks ago, my husband brought our Ford Focus to Sooper Lube in honor we adore Steve the owner. He was not present, the lady told one guy to give us three total head gasket the first one was broken by this employee who just changes oil. our car smoked all the way back home. Steven was livid the man did this . Today 12/19/22 my husband found a shock the red brake light is on. He called Fire Stone in Hinsdale. I have been paying 120 for years at jiffy lube and this place charged me under 50 for a full service oil change. I hate how places see a woman and up charge them because they assume we do not know anything (which in my case- is true). This place was quick, HONEST, and great customer service. After having an issue on my dash stating I had low oil pressure when braking or making sharp turns I reached out to a local mechanic that came highly recommended, they advised I would have to bring the car in for full diagnostics and it would cost me over $600, this was before even seeing my car. I reached out to Steve's who advised me to bring it in and they would take a look free of charge. Their mechanics changed my oil and said it was a simple fix as something just needed tightening. The oil changes are speedy and when I've had major car problems, his mechanic Dave was extremely helpful. They work with a local auto parts store so if your car needs something, they'll get it ASAP. They ALSO work with a towing company so if you get stranded they'll tow it and get it to Sooper Lube for you. Just great service overall. read more

This is one of the few automotive repair/stations I fully trust. Steve, the owner, is always present and runs a tight ship. He is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The waiting area is stock full of magazines, fresh coffee, water, candy, etc. Overall waiting time is about 15 minutes. Oil change and routine service averages $30 - 40 with specials on Tuesdays for men and Thursdays for women. (Why do I always go there on Weds?!!!) I think the best thing about this place IS Steve...eavesdropping on his conversations i.e. "I AM really busy but I can fit you in, bring your car in tonight, and I will take care of it..." and "I think they forgot to check the blah blah blah (Fill in car lingo here) and tried to charge you two hundred bucks more!" and "I'm sorry, I am in bad mood, let's try this again..." Steve is like the older brother that won't let others rip you off over a car repair! These guys are awesome and I will miss them now that I'm moving out of the Chicago area. When I moved from Champaign to the Chicago area, I didn't think I would find another car place that I could trust the way I trusted Mylar Automotive in Champaign. But Steve and his awesome team won me over quickly! I think I first serviced my car at Sooper Lube in 2012 or 2013. I really appreciated that Steve told me what was an urgent thing vs something I needed to get done sooner. For example, one time a few years ago, he said that I might need to get my break pads fixed sometime in the next 6-months. Any other place would have totally ripped me off and told me that I needed to get something like that fixed right away. When I moved to the city of Chicago from the Chicago burbs, I made a HUGE mistake and went to Jiffy Lube for an oil change closer to my apartment. They totally ripped me off and got me to get synthetic oil in my pontiac G6-- totally doesn't need synthetic oil in hindsight. After that happened, I tried to make sure I got to Sooper Lube when I could, even though it was a rather long commute. If you're looking for a great place to go, definitely check this place out -- it's worth the trip! read more

I have been coming to this place for years, I cannot believe I never reviewed it! This is the local, locally owned car repair/oil change spot, and it happens to be owned by by in-laws neighbor/my friend's uncle. Yeah...it's VP...everyone knows everyone...literally. smalltownlove. Anyways...the service is always super friendly and prompt. I don't think I've ever had to wait longer than like 15 minutes for a full service oil change, which is nice since I'm usually packin' two kids with me! Yikes for all involved! The prices are a little higher than, say, a Jiffy Lube, but from what I hear about places like that, you are better off spending a little more and getting great quality service. They also have a repair side of the shop that can fix your shit if it breaks down on you! =] I have and will always recommend SL to friends and family because they are locally owned and treat you like family! So if you're in the VP area and are in need of an oil change, etc., head on in to SL and see what I'm talking about! PS...the Windy Tiki Hot Dog stand is in the parking lot during the week (not sure about weekends) from like 9AM to 4ish...they are supposed to have some good biscuits and gravy in the morning that sells out...try it out! read more

I've been remiss. I have used Sooper Lube since 1988. But I never thought to give Steve and his guys a boost. I come and go. I'm a total coupon whore. But I always find my way back to Sooper Lube. Because these guys treat oil changes seriously. Same guys been there for years. Honest work. Pricey? Yeah, I suppose, if you have a Jiffy Lube coupon bringing you down to $28, then I guess Sooper Lube is more costly. The kicker: Jiffy Lube is going to try to sell you cabin filters, air filters, injector cleanings and a transmission flush. Steve's an independent. He doesn't have Jiffy Lube Corporate staring over his shoulder. I've seen seven or eight managers come and go at the Jiffy Lube by Route 59 and North Avenue. Steve has had Sooper Lube purring like a cougar for 30 years. He'll tell you if you need a tail light or an air cleaner. He doesn't try to ram extra nonsense down your craw. read more

The maintenance light on my car goes on and I know what my car wants: fresh oil! Though my husband usually changes my oil himself, it's been pretty damn cold and I didn't think he'd want to do it. I also needed it changed sooner rather than later, since my car is pretty old and I had to drive into the city. I didn't want my car breaking down, so I went to Sooper Lube to get my oil changed. The whole process took 10 minutes tops. They let me know that they couldn't do my air filter because the screws were stripped but the woman at the desk told me that I could make an appointment to fix that in the future if I wanted. They did a quick check of my car, said everything looked good and it was all done! I really appreciated that they didn't try to BS me about anything or say something was wrong with my car when it wasn't. My total came to about $35, which is a bit more than, say, Jiffy Lube, but you get much better service here and you're supporting a local business. Everyone here is also really nice. A few years ago, my husband was trying to change my oil and saw that the screw was stripped, likely done when my car was taken in to Jiffy Lube and they use that automatic screw thing. He tried taking it to the Jif to see if they could take it off so he could replace it and they wanted to charge him for it. He finally went to Sooper Lube and they did it for free! Even though we weren't getting the oil changed there, they had no problem helping him out. Next time I need any maintenance done on the car, I'm definitely coming back. I brought my Grammas car in for an oil change. As soon as I pulled in Steve recognized the car as hers and asked if she was ok. (She's a long time Villa Park resident) I was very touched that he not only knew it was her car (before putting her plate # in the system) but that he asked about her. Maybe change the name to super rude. Apparently they don't need customers. They were very rude. The problem was when I pulled my car in the mechanic got cold. It's February in Illinois. So he processed to yell at me and also swear. He was visibly upset. I'm not even asking for him to be polite. Just to not yell and swear. I'm supposed to trust them with my car. Very unprofessional. I get it it's cold out and when the door opens it lets the cold air in. If this is an issue they can pull the cars in. Or maybe watch the news in the morning and wear a jacket. read more
