I came in for a groupon for synthetic oil change and tire rotation. I have wheel locks on my tires, before going in for my appt i left the wheel lock key on the passenger seat. I was outside on a phone call when one of the guys came to the front and took my car around the corner. I don't mind my car being driven fast, apparently neither did the mechanic as he peeled it off the parking lot to take my car around the block to the back. I go to wait in the waiting area and after a bit the person in the front asks me for my wheel lock key. I reminded him I put it on the passenger seat. They couldn't find it. I let him know about the mechanic that took off speeding in my car, possibly that action made the key fly off the seat. They eventually located the key...I had to go help look, it was under the driver seat, under the mat. How crazy was this person driving my car that it flew from the passenger seat to where they found it. They completed what I showed up for so for that im grateful but the heart attack i had when they couldn't find my key was unnecessary. Maybe slow down so you're not losing wheel lock keys for your clients. Other than that, the gentleman in the front was very nice. read more

They sent me an offer via text for an oil change + tire rotation: $29.99 for regular oil, $49.99 for synthetic oil. I chose the synthetic oil change, and scheduled a date for service. I arrived, gave them my key, and was prepared to wait for them to perform the service. Not 5 minutes after I sat down, one of the employees told me that my car uses a different type of oil filter, and it would be more expensive. I asked how much, and he told me $5 extra. I had my oil changed at Jiffy Lube previously, and they told me the same thing, so $5 extra wasn't that big of a deal. Fast forward 45 minutes later, and another employee (owner perhaps), came out and told me that I needed a new air filter and some new tail lights. I told him to go ahead and change the filter and I would change the lights myself. He then asked me, "You are aware that the oil filter is more expensive on your car?". I told him the other gentlemen here told me it would be $5 extra. He then laughed a little and said, "Oh, it's going to be considerably more than that." I asked him how much, and he said it would be $80+ after taxes. I asked him how come the other person only quoted me $5 extra, and he cut me off saying he can look for another offer to apply. After searching, he said he could find me a cheaper filter, but I would have to wait a little longer for it to get there. I informed him I had already spent too much time waiting already, and this should have been handled when I first walked in. I told him I needed to go and he, visibly irritated, got the car off the lift and handed back my key. This seems to be a pretty clear case of bait and switch. First, I had been told by another company that my filter was only marginally more expensive. Second, his own coworker (or employee) had already told me the final price for the filter AFTER HE LOOKED IT UP in the system. And finally, when I asked why I was quoted a different price from the other person, he cut off that line of conversation and tried changing the subject. Seems to me he had no intention of honoring the $49.99 oil change + tire rotation. Beware of these guys. read more

Diagnosed me with so many things, battery corrosion (my battery is brand new,) and fluids, a broken bulb, brake issues, tried to charge $65 to install a lightbulb... brought it to my very experienced mechanic dad, he laughed in my face... everything was perfect... and a bulb is like $2. Staff was very friendly but when they rotated the tires they cross threaded then over tightened the lug bolt. It and the lug nut were cracked and could have caused both to break completely. lug bolt had to be drilled out. read more

Went in yesterday for an oil change. I had a bad oil pan plug. They tried to convince me that I needed a whole new oil pan that would cost $500 with the labor. Took my car to another shop and they fixed the plug. Which the plug costed less than $20. These people are scam artists. When I told them I don't have $500, they were consistent on me financing the service from a third party. They asked me about 10 times before I got my car towed because they couldn't put the plug back in or fixed it with a new plug. So I wasted $125 on a tow which I didn't need. And the only reason I went there is because I had a Groupon. When shops offer deals on Groupon it's usually because they need new customers because they do things like this. read more

I went to AUTO PLUS to fix exhaust pipe leaks of my 2019 Challenger. Brian at the front desk was very kind and professional to handle customer's repair requests. Technician, Kai tightened clamps in an attempt to fix the leaks. Kai told me they have a machine to check the positioning of rear axle. I agreed to carry on additional work on wheel centering. After 40 minutes waiting, Kai brought a wheel alignment data which I did not ask to do, instead of a wheel centering check, showing a horrific misalignment of wheel. I told him the alignment data are not believable since my car was checked okay for all alignments three weeks ago at an alignment specialty shop at Northbrook. Accordingly, I refused any adjustments for the alignment and was questioning why they did works that was not requested by the customer. While driving back home from the exhaust leak repair, I felt my car was unusually shaking, displaying relatively high G-force vibrations from the passenger-side. Next morning, my car was tested again to be driving under unstable modes. Later, visited an alignment shop in St. Charles to check for possible sources of unusual vibrations. During the alignment check, a technician uncovered my car was bottomed out or hit on curb in passenger-side, revealing recent fresh damages of plastic shield covers and suspension parts. Additional inspections by insurance body shops confirm that the damages (bent frame brackets) of suspension parts of my car could be incurred by intentional vicious physical forces in an attempt to doctor alignment data out of the OEM specification. My car had never involved in any accident for last five years! I could not believe I'm still in a bad dream. read more

I have been trying to get my oil changed for the last few days and to no avail. Absolutely struggled to get in anywhere and my car was basically shouting at me to get it serviced. I just got this car a few months back and this was my first time getting maintenance done on it. My family goes here to get their cars serviced as well, and I knew that the folks here would do a great job. I found a deal on Groupon for oil change. When I took my car for the oil change, the guys saw few other things. They were very transparent about it, which I really appreciated a lot! Couple of weeks later, I called them for pre-purchase inspection. I brought two cars, and they told me not to buy any of them! Sean and Brian took the time to explain what were the issues and how much would it cost to fix them! They were genuine about their opinion. Rafael is very nice and provided good customer service. However their prices are over the top. I told him on the phone what was wrong with my car and he suggested I get the "free" 15 consultation. Which consisted of putting my car in the air and running a code scanner that they use at Auto Zone. I was told I needed a full scan which takes about 30 minutes to determine if I needed a catalytic converter or an O2 sensor. Needless to say $66 dollars later (1/2 hour labor charge) it was the converter which I had told him before. I feel a bit ripped off because he knew it was the converter from the original code he had received . Also the quoted prices for the converter were about $200 more than other quotes I had received. Always happy with Auto Plus. Fair, fast and friendly.

We had a very brief encounter with Auto Plus but it was an exceedingly pleasant one. Mom accidentally opened her car door while it was locked. This occurred shortly after one of those melt/snow/rain/ice/freeze storms that coated all the cars in a thick layer of ice. I can only assume that she thought the ice was keeping her from being able to open the door with ease, so she pulled with all her might and got the darn thing to open despite being locked. The only problem was that we couldn't get the lock to unlock or the door to shut properly. She called Auto Plus and asked how much it would be to fix a broken lock. They said they'd have to see it, so we dropped the car off and about 2 hours later they called and said the problem was fixed. All it required was a bit of jiggling, some applied heat, and a de-icer. They weren't going to charge us and refused to accept a tip. It was very generous of them. They seem to care about their customers, or at least potential ones. This wonderful experience really helped us out and I hope to do real business with them in the future. read more

It all started with a Groupon...that's what brought me and my husband to Auto Plus to get full service oil change and car care "check up" on our automobiles. But lo and behold, life got in the way and we let one of our Groupons expire. A quick call to Auto Plus and they said, no problem, we'll honor it. Awesome! We've been there a few times now for oil changes and car repairs and although I don't like shelling out a lot of money for car upkeep, it's a necessary evil. One time their quote on suspension services pretty much matched what other auto repair shops provided to us, but we went with Auto Plus because of their customer service. Friendly and upbeat. If you decide to wait for your car to be serviced, there is complimentary coffee and soft drinks AND lots of magazines to keep you busy--YAY Us Weekly! They offer a lot of discount days and coupon days. One thing that I like is that they are gathering food for the local food bank. Oh we get a discount coupon in return for a bag of donated items, but times are tough, it's nice they are doing this service for the community. read more
