There is a great exterior patio area and the service is delightful. I honestly had never heard of a kolache before I visited this facility. I can honestly say that it's a unique but delicious pastry that comes with your choice of filling at this shop. I went with the OG and was definitely not disappointed. I was able to chat with the owner while I waited for my food and had a very lovely interaction. In general, the atmosphere is very friendly and seemed like a very family friendly environment. Definitely check it out if you want to have some quality service while trying a pastry you've probably never heard of... all at an affordable price and in a vintage style restaurant.

I ordered three different savory kolaches, and being from Texas I was wondering if they'd hold up. The OG is almost exactly the same, it's got a slightly different texture and the breading is less flaky than what I usually get at home, but it's still very good. The Bacon Me Happy was also super good, it's not like the usual savory kolaches back home but it was very tasty. The Happy Bird uses turkey sausage, which is good for anyone who wants less red meat in their diet, and I liked the cheese a lot. One more difference between these and the ones back home is these are less rectangular, which I think is closer to the original recipe than the ones I'm used to having.

The building has many large seating sections with a variety of seating, indoor, bar, outdoor seating under the trellis or a table next to the pond. They have ample parking for all options. As we walked into the building we were greeted by a friendly staff member, we were offered our choice of seating for two, we chose to sit outside under the trellis. It was a clear day with great views of the pond and nearby businesses, very tranquil setting. The food The menu , they have Brunch, Omelets with a large option of Breakfast Favorites such as country fried Chicken & Eggs to Huevos Rancheros. We ordered the Ham & Cheese Omelet with Hash Browns, it was an ample serving of food, well cooked to our liking, we also ordered the Huevos Rancheros , it is served typically with Mole, I asked if I could have it prepared without Mole and they were very accommodating, the dish is served with black beans, smoked cheddar, eggs at your liking, salsa, cilantro and fresh chiles. It is a legit Rancheros dish, I also asked for bacon and it was included. Very good tasting dish, plenty of food with a hardy appetite.

There are a few tables outside too, complete with propane heaters and umbrellas. We have been coming here with our kids since they were in highchairs. The rotating Waffle of the Month specials have always been a hit with them. The menu offers a lot of flexibility regarding component selections and preparation. Favorites include the Smoked Salmon Avocado Benedict, the Iron Miner's Scramble (eggs, red potatoes, bacon, caramelized onion, black beans, and gravy), and the Lake Grove Breakfast (omelet or scramble). The food is tasty and high quality, as are the coffee and the Bloody Marys. Service is friendly and competent in our experience. Babica Hen takes reservations for parties of eight or more - otherwise, it's first come, first served. The restaurant is located next to the (formerly COVID mask-wearing) large elephant statue which is part of Lake Oswego's Gallery Without Walls outdoor sculpture exhibition. Our kids compliment my wife's homecooked breakfasts by exclaiming, "We're eating at Mama-ca Hen!"

Sad to say goodbye…read more.... I'm a local who eats here often (at least 3x/month for the last 2 years) and I can no longer justify any more second chances. The staff is shockingly rude and many of my experiences over the last 2 years match the other 1-star reviews. Yesterday I arrived to sit outside. There was an available table, empty and cleaned right near the entrance but they require check in first so I attempted to get someone to check me in. Five employees stood just a few feet away, looked me in the eye, actively ignored me and turned away. I finally had to ask them (with their backs turned away) to please seat me and then more dismissive and unprofessional behavior continued. I keep hoping the rudeness it's just a one-off circumstance but sadly it's not. It's as if customers are an annoyance. Does the auto-added 18% gratuity really mean ya'll have zero incentive to be kind? I really wish the compulsion to make customer care a priority mattered more to them, auto-tip or not. It's such a stark contrast to the vibe at their sister restaurant Lola's. Lola's is warm, welcoming, and actually appreciates your business. It's confounding how these two restaurants can be owned by the same family. Buck family, please thoughtfully digest your one star reviews and make CHANGES so your local community can feel welcomed at Bábica too.

I highly recommend the corn beef, hash and eggs. It's absolutely wonderful and some of the best corned beef hash I have ever had. It's my go to for this dish. Under the new ownership, there has also been a most excellent cuisine change. Of course you can still get the classics that you would get at any family restaurant but the chef, James is absolutely amazing at putting together new dishes. The wait staff are very happy and are always smiling, and really make you feel at home. With the restaurant with this much history, you can imagine that a lot of elderly citizens visit the establishment as they grew up with it. We were seated quickly -- it was a nice day, so we sat in their lovely outdoor dining area. They brought us room temperature waters (not a fan), and took our drink orders rather quickly. Service was good throughout our visit. I ordered the IPA Bacon Cheeseburger, which came (over)loaded with lots of fresh vegetables, a large burger patty, and the IPA mustard sauce. I don't want to complain about a burger being piled high with bacon, pickles, and fresh onions, lettuce, & tomatoes; but it was difficult to eat. While the Challah bun was delicious, it was woefully undersized for the task of holding it all together. I enjoyed it, but felt the IPA sauce was lost in the midst of everything else, and I also thought the burger patty was under-seasoned. I ordered fries as a side, and unfortunately they were the "battered" variety, which I just don't enjoy. Restaurants -- please, just serve normal French fries, without any batter on them! We knew from past experience that baked goods and desserts are really what La Provence is good at, so we ordered Tiramisu for dessert. Their very non-traditional take on this Italian classic would probably some people uneasy, but it was delicious. It had a dense chocolate cake base, with a thick layer of mascarpone mousse on top of that, then a topping of thin, crunchy, chocolate hazelnut ganache. Not too sweet, with a variety of textures to enjoy. We would definitely come back again, but I'd get something other than burger and fries.

He was so kind and tried his hardest for us to be able to have happy hour. He really pulled strings and tried everything in his power to make it happen. We just couldn't get drinks which was fine. We had gotten there well before happy hour was ending, but since his section was so packed, it took him a very long time to get to us. It was understandable though because he had at least 14 people he was attending to in the section. We ordered sliders, 3 sushi rolls, and the chicken wrap. The chicken wraps were a little different from what we were used to. Using the super leafy part of the lettuce that you had to really hold in your hands to make it into a wrap. The sushi rolls were fine. The sliders were very juicy and yummy. My nieces had the kids bento boxes and they loved it. The little attention to detail by carving up the orange to look like a little animal was super cute. I was a bit confused looking at the menu. Thinking this was going to be a Hawaiian spot from the name, but the menu offered a very wide range of food that didn't seem quite cohesive. The food did seem a bit pricey at the regular price, but I would highly recommend coming here for happy hour.
