Elmer's Diner - menu - Diners Near Me - Danbury, Connecticut

DO NOT order the bak lava. It is NOT bak lava. It is a spice CAKE with nuts and a thin layer of pastry on top of that it looks like bak lava. Also, I ordered the gyro with Greek salad to-go, and they sent raspberry vinaigrette with it. So disappointing. read more

Elmer's Diner - Menu stay in little Italy. You will not be disappointed - Diners Near Me - Danbury, Connecticut

Hello, whenever we go to CT, we stop to eat at Elmer's. The staff is great, and so is the food (when there is consistency). We travel from the BX to do a little shopping and go to Elmer's. I just noticed that depending on whomever is cooking (Thursday or Friday's), the food can taste different depending on the week and the cook! We will continue going to Elmer's because of the staff and food, but maybe you can work on consistency so that the food comes out and tastes the same no matter who's cooking! Just a quick example: the seafood bisque soup is excellent one time. We then go again, and it's salty! Just try to work on that. We will be back soon! read more

exceptional service. charming and welcoming staff. yummy yummy food a wonderful way to start a busy day

Amazing food, great service! Big selection menu with variety option. Super clean. Very impress, will definitely be back again. All the staff members are super sweet. read more

Elmer's Diner - Big portion, you will definitely not leave hungry - Diners Near Me - Danbury, Connecticut

So traveled to Danbury all excited to go back to wonderful Elmer's and......... Elmer's is no longer the same. I asked the manager when leaving if there were new owner's or managers and he said "no"and asked "why? " I explained to him that things had changed a little since I had been there noting examples and he told me "no, it's always been like that". So ok greater Danbury who remembers Elmer's come slaw being served like this ? 1 oz cup barely 1/2 full? And who remembers their Greek Salad being served as a tossed Salad with carrots served with raspberry vinaigrette? My husband was also up charged $4 for sweet potato fries and there were barely a handful at best. Not to mention the A/C didn't work and was barely on and we were literally sweating in the booth. We left without dessert. So sad :(. Come on Elmer. Where did you go? read more

This fucking place only buss when ur lit off ur ass tbh they food mid but whatever and the workers are alright I guess

I gave it another shot of ordering through Uber eats and was again extremely dissatisfied. Ordered Greek salad and added a note That I wanted grilled chicken added. It wasn't an option on the menu and it didn't come with the pita bread. I called, and they said we can't add chicken through Uber eats menu and it's a small salad so the bread isn't added Waste of time and money. Don't order for delivery. They never get it right or don't offer what you want on the menu. Dinner was ruined read more

Prices are extremely high. If you order a burger fries are separate even though the menu states online there included. The burger alone was 9 dollars and change plus tax. There food isnt as good as it used to be. This place doesn't care about there customers . Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

We were seated in the back corner and sat there for 15-20 minutes and no one bothered to even get our drink order. It's like we were totally forgotten. Waitresses came up the aisle and attended to other people, but didn't even notice we were there. How do you forget to take the drink orders of people you just seated? Neglectful. After getting tired of waiting we left. You could have had a paying costumer and now have lost one. read more

I should have gone to Taco Bell. I went here because we had no power due to the storms and my wife was just getting home at 2am from a delayed flight. Figured I'd get better food, was I ever wrong. The first taste of a limp onion ring should have keyed me into what to expect from the burger. However, what I got was much worse. A flavorless patty smothered in a gallon of ketchup and relish with sautéed onions. It fell completely apart on the first bite and that was 3 minutes after I got it from the counter to my car. What a disgusting mess. If it wasn't storming out, I'd have returned everything. The fries were made well, yet had an after taste of slightly old grease. My wife's bacon cheeseburger had horrible scraps of bacon on it and was only marginally better than my own meal. The staff member who helped me tried adequately, everyone else was indifferent to my being there. The chef should go back to school. Stick with McDonalds across the street. At least you know you're getting what is advertised. read more

I usually have breakfast here but decided to get dinner and dessert for my 3rd shift job. The cheeseburger was perfect, as was my small salad. Unfortunately, the Mac and cheese was bland ( like it's made for a kids taste only), but I almost cried when I bit into my expensive baklava. I had one bite and still can't get the taste out of my mouth, like eating cinnamon in solid form. Not the sweet, crunchy, nutty pastry I hoped for. read more

Update* I went back to the diner this week and everyone was in masks! Great job!! The food is good and the waiters are very nice however they do not wear their masks. They pull them up if they see you walk in but they are all not wearing them which makes me very uncomfortable and I will not return :( read more

I have to say Elmer is one of the nicest people I've ever met ,runs a a clean quick, and prompt diner, but for me it's price when it comes to omelette s,I can get the same breakfast at holiday diner on mill plain for 8 dollars cheaper, and in this economy I'm going there (even though Elmer's is within a mile from my house, and I mean this in no disrespect for Elmers, but 8 dollars is worth the trip read more

Due to lack of staff the service can be slow but it's definitely worth the wait. Food is extremely good.

Always great food served by the best wait staff around. Gyro plate and breakfast choices are awesome! Elmer's is the best!

Love this place! Head there every time I'm in Danbury!! Love to go with my sister, late in the evening with cribbage or scrabble board. They are so accommodating and the food is perfect!! read more

Came here after a long day to enjoy the food & since this is the go to diner in Danbury I thought yeah why not. I should've just gone to grandpas diner SO MUCH BETTER - not only the food but the service.Every time I've come to Elmer's the skinny Spanish girl with pinkish hair always has an attitude I don't understand why yeah I get it jobs can be annoying but service has definitely gone down hill since then- they get gratuity included in the bill so that's maybe why she doesn't care. A hot chocolate had spilled all over me & no rush whatsoever to get me a rag or napkin literally anything to clean up the spill she just came over to the table sighing "are you ready now" clearly not ...I wasn't asking her to clean it up or anything but she had the nastiest face- then she proceeded to not even ask me if I wanted another drink seeing as it had gone all over myself- in other places they're usually like "don't worry about it" & wouldn't charge for another drink especially since I didn't even take one sip out of it before it fell NOPE! Not the case here. this place is terrible now- they need to fire her & turn it around like back in the day when places actually thrived in customer service & diners were a happy place. read more

24/7 service, late night sandwich. good amount of staff. sandwich was decent, but the bread was a little bit old.

If you like lemon meringue pie , DON'T COME HERE! With being a diner, you would think the cakes and pies would all be a homemade original. Stop and shops is better! Its not even real! Its the lemon pie filling off the shelf. The crust is soggy and nasty. The topping on top is FLUFF from the shelf. JUST NASTY!!!!! Take it off the shelf/cooler where ever you have it. JUST STOP....... read more

I love a restaurant that starts you out with a complimentary appetizer! It was a macaroni salad with beans, corn and onions, but not made with mayonnaise. It was more like a Vinaigrette. Since I already spoiled my diet with pasta, I decided to go for the chicken pot pie accompanied with either a soup or salad. I choose the salad. It was terrific! The ranch dressing was also very tasty. The pot pie was perfect! Huge! Lots of chicken and lots of crust, the two things that make a great pot pie. The creamy sauce and vegetables that were mixed in with the chicken was wonderful too. I ate the whole thing! The service was great, all the employees were very friendly. They ALL thanked me or said goodby as I left. I even loved the typical local ad placemat. If I am ever hungry as I am passing through Danbury, I know exactly where to stop. read more

Food is insane. 3 multigrain pancakes, blueberry, banana, walnut (1 each, not topped) was so delicious that I couldn't believe it was multi grain. I ordered a special omlet with farm fresh hot Italian sausage which made the omlet taste burst with flavor. Home fries were a bit bland but I threw some pepper on them and they were good. Only issue we ran into was the payment. One person taking payments from 15 people. The line was insane. Definitely need to get 2 people to take payments and or get more credit card machines read more

awesom place to have dinner with family and friends! Friendly staff. Food is woderful as usual.

Most impressive breakfast menu we've ever seen Very friendly service. Hot food all excellently prepared. Thank you so much.

I was honestly disappointed. I went here for lunch with a coworker. It felt like we startled them when we walked in. Like they were shocked this is the place we picked for lunch. They start you off with a macaroni salad that looks like they reused it because the last people didn't eat it. I'm pretty sure they gave my friend some type of mystery meat because we couldn't tell what it was. He still ate the entire thing. That's a different story. I went the safe route with a turkey club, and it was ok. Probably the only reason they aren't getting 1 star. Our waitress seemed to be trying, but just wasn't the greatest at her job. I'll drive by here probably 20 times a year. I won't be returning. read more

I feel bad leave a three star review because the staff is SO nice. Elmer the owner even comes and greets everyone. But the food was just average. I got a sausage and cheese breakfast sandwich. The cheese wasn't melted and it was literally just sausage links on a non-toasted bagel. read more

Came in for a late night snack. We ordered the turkey club and it was fresh and tasty. The fries were crispy and the coleslaw was spot on. Service was good. Great service and reasonable prices! read more

Today was my third or fourth trip to Elmer's since moving to the area. My wife and I capitalize on the diner experience for breakfast and Elmers has an assortment of choices available in this area. We are always pleasantly greeted and seated. The wait staff is always attentive and helpful. Everyone there is great. The food is excellent amazing. With such a beautiful forefront, the flaws became evident today :-( My wife identified that there was an obstruction to the sugar container on our table. It may have been accumulated sugar. It may have been a missed piece of the packaging. Colored brown--it was unnatural to the containers contents. Secondly about half way through my experience I was able to identify that my foot was sliding a bit more than normal under the table. There was a hefty amount of cake icing under my foot. With these demerits I believe it's safe to say that my family will not be returning, But the food was great while it lasted. read more

On our drive back from Wesleyan University, stopped in for dinner. What a nice find. Great service. The Manhattan Clam chowder and grilled chicken salad (with red wine vinegar dressing) was delicious. Elvis was the best. Perfect service. read more

Sadly, this was my second time here in two years. Worse than the first time. The food is atrocious. That's all I can say. I don't understand how anyone could rate this place high, unless they are friends. Nothing we had was fresh or delicious. The spinach pie was old and stale. I think they nuked it too. I could not cut through the pastry part. It was like plastic or rubber. And it looked awful too, with old tomatoes and lettuce bits thrown on the plate. The home fries tasted like chemicals, my friends said. The smoothie was like icy water mixed with strawberry toothpaste foam. We had to return two items, and what we got wasn't much better. You can see in the dessert case that some of the cakes and pastries are really old. My feta cheese omelet was just a thin sheet of egg folded over feta cheese, not melted in the slightest. They just threw it in at the end. There was zero love or pride in what left that kitchen that night for us. It is the worst diner I've ever been to. The toast was completely soggy too. Not one particle of crispness. They have no idea what they're doing. Danbury really needs a good diner. I gave this place a second chance, but no more. Even the chocolate shake was not good, my friends said. And it is served in a plastic cup with no metal shake container accompanying it. It was decent for the manager to take back two of our items I suppose, but he did it begrudgingly and with no apology. Think twice before heading over to this place. Sorry to say. read more

I don't know what some of these low reviews are talking about. Came here with the wife shortly after 11am but we both felt like breakfast foods. She ordered the Farmer's Omelette and it was great! So big it covered the whole plate. Afterwards we looked at the regular menu and the specials and not only was it extensive but the prices were so reasonable we almost wished we'd ordered lunch instead. Very good, attentive service. Almost passed this by when we saw some of the reviews but glad we came! read more

I love the food here! Great all around dining experience, for all meals of the day! I usually have breakfast here when I'm in the area. I've also come for dinner on many occasions and always left satisfied ! The food is always fresh and tastes good! Try the eggs florentine!
