AC broke Tuesday, 8/25. Technician came Weds, 8/26 and said we needed to order a part- that the part would arrive within 3 days. It is now over a week and we still do not have air conditioning, or the part! I called Tuesday, 9/1 & they said part could arrive that day or Wednesday. Today is Thursday, we are still without ac. They also made us pay half of the labor fees to order the part!! AC unit only 3yrs old and serviced regularly. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. I have a 16KW Generac that recently needed repair. The Generac is still under the original 5 year warranty, which includes parts, labor, and travel. I called the company that installed my Generac, but they couldn't get me an appointment for a month. Being hurricane season, I called Ellington Electric in Rockledge and they came 4 days later. They didn't have the fuses needed to troubleshoot/repair the issue, so they ordered more fuses and came back 2 weeks later to fix the issue. When they arrived, I was met with a $750 repair bill to fix the issue. I showed them the warranty and they told me that they don't go through Generac, even though they are an authorized Generac dealer/installer, but rather, they do a 60/40 split with the customer! I called Ellington Electric and explained the issue while the technicians were still here and I was told that they only work warranty issues through Generac for systems that they installed! My Generac warranty clearly states that it covers parts, labor, and travel and I wasn't going to get ripped off for $750 on a repair that should be free! I told the technicians not to repair my Generac and I'd call the company that installed it. They still took me for a $279 charge for diagnosing the issue. Be wary of this company! They will only honor your written warranty if they installed the equipment, which is not right! Any authorized dealer should honor the warranty, regardless of who installed the system. I'll never use or recommend this company for anything ever again. read more

Had Ellington replaced an existing Mitsubishi 4-head mini split with a Daikin. I got their "A" team. They didn't know how to remove the plastic covers on the heads. Obviously not the A team. Had 3 techs and their supervisor out here. About 2 hours after they left water started dripping from the ceiling (not the head). Now they're closed, so I had to shut the system off. Called the next morning, and the earliest they could get here was that afternoon. Meanwhile, my smoke detector went off. Checked it and it was full of water. Nothing like a 110v unit full of water. Tech comes out, fixes leaks in the ceiling. Then a head started leaking. Played hell getting a manager for all this. Also have a maintenance plan. They checked the system and provided a report saying everything was good, including the pipes, insulation, and outside units. Looked at my second unit and there was no insulation at all. Their reporting is a lie. Completely unreliable outfit. They used to be great, they're worthless now. Too bad you have to leave a star. read more

Instead, the maintenance plan I was sold turned out to be far more limited than what the salesman clearly told me it would cover. When I went into the office to address the discrepancy, the staff didn't try to understand or look into it--they essentially accused me of lying about what their own salesperson said and dismissed everything I explained. After making such a major investment, being treated this way was incredibly disappointing. Asked them to change a drain pan and service / insulate my AC handler to stop sweating. In 3 months, drain pan was rusted, AC handler "sweat" filled drain pan with water which instead of draining accumulated and flooded garage roof. Quite a few thousand dollars went down the pipe and they won't return my calls. read more

I got a Trane A/C until about 4 years ago from Ellington Air. I also got the $14/mo service contract, which turned out to be a good decision as the Trane A/C unit has had constant problems. I've found the repair technitians at Ellington to be capable, honest, and responsive. Also, Ellington can often offer same-day.service. My complaint is with the manufacturer of our unit, Trane, not Ellington. For example, we just learned that the main circuit board in our Trane system has failed for the SECOND time. It's roughly a $1,000 item, mostly but not completely covered by the warranty and service plan. To have failed twice, I've got to conclude these boards are not well designed. I'd note that none of our other appliances, some of which are several years old, has failed during the 4 years we had our Trane A/C unit. I got a response to my post from Ellington noting Ellington sells other brands, which I hadn't realized. Since my complaint was about Trane, not Ellington, I changed my rating of Ellington to 4 stars. Just avoid buying a Trane A/C system from anyone. read more

2 Years ago I used Ellington AC. I was empress by their work/professionalism & joined their maintenance plan. Last week I received a text for my 6 mth schedule & 3 days before the day I received a text that the monthly fee of $13.95 didn't go through. My credit card was compromised & the bank was sending a replacement. On the morning of the service I called to confirm & inform them of credit card situation. Only to find out I was cancelled. I tried tell the staff & requested to talk to a supervisor but was not able to. So with the monthly fee I was billed for the past 11 months didn't mean anything to this company. We had an AC unit that was over 20 years old. We got about 8 different quotes because we needed a completely new system and duct work. The duct work in our home was under sized and was improperly installed and it was not sealed at the registers so there was a lot of leaks into the attic. We needed new drain lines and new copper as well as a new breaker box outside. All the companies that we had giving us proposals, each left something out or tried to convince us that we could reuse an old component, which made no sense to me, why put it brand new and reuse old 20 year old parts? When Ellington came out, they really did a thorough investigation of the duct work, the inside of the house, they measured the air quality, the air output in each room and designed a system with the correct size duct for the proper air distribution for cooling efficiency for the size of the rooms. So they started to work on a Tuesday, everything was a mess, but they cleaned up both what we had tracked inside and what they were pulling out of the attic every day. They were so polite and professional. By Thursday afternoon we were up and running. Everything looked beautiful. When considering a new AC system for your home, I couldn't recommend a better choice than Ellington. After 8 other companies , none were able to give us the kind of quality, performance or professionalism that we received from Ellington. They are not the cheapest but they are not the most expensive either but I think that this is an important investment. We have been limping along on that old system since last summer and I know we would not have made it through this summer. With our thermostat set on 76 degrees our house was actually 82 degrees. Now with our new AC system, we can set it at 78 degrees and with the correct size duct, It is a very comfortable temperature throughout the entire house. When I purchased my complete system, it was to include new copper and wires. In fact, I was charged well above the market value for the job. I did complain once I found that they broke my trust when they overcharged me. About a month after I replaced my whole air conditioning system it broke. so I called them to come fix it. Was told that it had old wiring and old copper. I questioned the maintenance technician and he never responded. So I called Ellington air and asked about my copper and if it was replaced. They told me they would have to call me back. A gentleman who I believe was John called me and said yes it was replaced. It's on your invoice. I said, are you sure and he said yes. So the next day I had my own expert come and verify the wiring and the copper. It has not been replaced. My house is only eight years old so the copper from before, is eight years old, but it should be only a month old because I paid for it. I do not recommend this company they will overcharge you and Charge you for a job they did not complete. Very deceitful. Note one of the maintenance people installing the system was talking about how he was going to get a job at the space center and how her friend was helping him. When they were about to leave the same maintenance person stood there like he was expecting a tip so I did tip them. Very deceitful company, beware. Also, I would like to add I had a pre-inspection two weeks after installation and the people that installed my air-conditioning and thermostat did not properly program my thermostat. The pre-inspector informed me the thermostat said it was 68 but his temperature showed it was 74°. So they didn't even properly install in program. My thermostat the first time. read more

Why do I give a technician (Justin) a five star review and compliment their business model (quick call backs, quick response) and give them a 2 star review... ? (If there were 1/2 stars it would have been 2.5... or maybe 1.5) I am helping to manage a property where Ellington installed a brand new AC system. The homeowner purchased a Trane unit with terrific features and bought the 'no worries' warranty. Maintenance techs came out regularly in the past year. I personally was with one tech who came to replace a thermostat and do a scheduled maintenance at the beginning of MARCH 2022. Its a little over a month later and water is pouring out of a kitchen cabinet located in the area below the upstairs AC unit in the laundry room. ==** mind you** A similar water leak occurred in the same area the prior year when the AC tech demonstrated how to flush the AC drain line. Ellington came out at that time and saw no problem. Unfortunately, none of their technicians appeared to have looked to see if the water was actually coming out of the END of the drain line. Over the course of about a year, with multiple calls made to plumbers to find the intermittent leak was a perplexing, frustrating and absolutely unnecessary suffering for the homeowner, had Ellington done the job they should have been doing - simple maintenance! A resolution to the leaking finally came about ( I hope its a resolution) after I got the plumber out there twice in one week a few days ago and they tried every thing -- toilets, showers, sinks.. the washer drain hose. .. finally they poured water into the Air Conditioner drain line and the water starts POURiNg from the kitchen cabinet below. I called Ellington and the tech came out and confirmed the AC drain line was clogged - despite the alleged 'servicing' 1 month prior as well as the regular maintenance agreement since the system was purchased. The Ellington tech blew air thru the line and dirt and muddy water came flying out. It took multiple flushing to clear the crud from the drain line. THEN, they couldn't confirm that would fix the problem -- the pipe could be leaking inside the wall. They wouldn't look in the wall, they said I would have to get someone to open the wall, then they would come back and see if that was the case. I was in disbelief of what I was hearing. The final resolution was to abandon the old line and install a condensate pump int he attic -- they charged $750 dollars to fix a problem I believe they caused. The 'no worries' program/promise is pretty much a joke. It convenient for regular things, but my understanding is that its 40-50 dollars a month for this 'no worries' which proved to be worthless. Unfortunately the homeowner appears to be tethered to this company -= to do otherwise could leave them without a warranty. I can only imagine what mold and mildew damage I will find when I have an expert look at what Ellington's neglect caused. Water seeping into the wall and cabinets for over a year. read more

we called Ellington to research and give us recommendations on a moisture issue we had with our current AC. as well as diminished air flow in the master bedroom The recommended new duct work among other things ( new AC) . We hired them to change our entire ductwork since we couldnt get a new AC yet due to a renovation coming up. After they completed the work we informed them that we werent getting enough air in the master bedroom still. plus our master bath closet was not getting ANY. They called their owner our who came out and conducted a reading with his tool and claimed that the readings were correct and they could not do much more. After we kept calling them they finally told us to look at a different company. We paid them a substantial amount of money ( if i remember correctly it was over $20.000. We expected better work, customer service and treatment. Later when we called another company to install a new AC they also informed us that the duct work needed attention since it was not tied properly and the material they used to seal around the joints also needed attention. They provided us photos since us as homeowners we do know what a proper duct work should look like. VERY disappointed !!!! read more

Ellington was very professional, responsive, courteous, knowledgeable, and thorough in the attention to detail to replace and fix issues caused, in part, by another AC company. For 8 days as the technicians climbed all through the inside of my house and attic working on vents, ducts, thermostats, etc..., the technicians were very thoughtful and considerate of my home. They also did a good job of cleaning their work spaces at end of day. I was extremely impressed with the workmanship of Travis Holloway and Nathan Becker. It is very Obvious they take pride in their work and want the customer to be happy. Also a shoutout to Jay Williams for his help, understanding, and patience even with after hours calls. Problems a year and a half after installation. Trane condenser went bad. Covered by Trane but labor not covered by Ellington. They grandfathered me into their "no worries" program after that debacle. That was a mistake. 2 years later the AC went out because of wind even though it had been "inspected" every 6 months. Wind is an "act of God" and not covered by their "no worries" program. Told both the Ellington estimator and installers that I wanted straps across the new unit to prevent it from coming loose again. No straps installed by Ellington (my maintenance guy did it after the Ellington install). Big company with many different departments. Each department blames the other and passes the buck. The chief can be quite rude. read more

Had a horrible experience with "Joey" who says he is the owner of Ellington's AC. As a property manager I called in a service call for my client (their preferred vendor) that has done business with this company for many years. After the technician was done, my front desk as well as my bookkeeper and myself were harassed, hung up on and treated extensively disrespectful by "Joey" over a $99 service call. As a business, we are usually billed and were not told when service was ordered that they expected COD. See below his text to my phone .... FROM JOEY.... Didn't you call the service call in? The **owner** did not call it in. Why is it someone else's responsibility? Please be polite and take care of the bill today however you can. Very disappointed in how your treating us, we were very prompt and courteous. This response was after I had given him the contact number of the owner of the property to receive an immediate credit card payment since I wasn't informed ahead of time that it was now COD instead of being billed. Once I called MY preferred vendor it was found that the service they recommended for $768 minimum, a pull and clean coil, would not have fixed the issues as the coil was completely rusted and had two leaks. How would you even clean it??? Thankfully my owner refuses to use them again!! HIGHLY DO NOT recommend this company and their very rude "Joey" !! read more

This was kind of a big job in that I was moving the outside unit to the side of the house which meant new copper and power lines being run through the attic. Also I was closing off a return near the floor in the master BR and adding a ceiling return in the main living area. Other companies tried to talk me out of these changes with one even telling me I would need to move my hot water heater to do what I wanted. Ellington came in and did a wonderful job in one day at an affordable price with great financing on a Trane. They are top notch pros from sales to installers and I can say without hesitation this is the AC company you're looking for. They never offered me any incentive to write a positive review for them. I really liked this company when the tech, Corey, came to fix our air conditioning several months ago. He was prompt and professional and did a great job. I recently had another issue with a different unit and they sent another tech. I'll leave his name out. He diagnosed that my motor and module were bad. Quote was $1959 to fix the issue. Called another company for a second opinion bc the unit was running and cooling and it struck me as odd it needed 2k worth of work. The problem was fixed for $180. Unfortunately, your business is only as good as your technicians can be trusted. Poor Corey can't be everywhere. Unfortunately have to scratch Ellington off the list of trusted and recommended. read more

Ellington air is an outstanding company and I have been very pleased with the service I have received since my install, yearly check-ups, and my most recent experience. My a/c stopped working and I called Ellington and was greeted with such a positive intro of how can they make my day better. They had a service tech out the same day (I called late into the day around 2pm). Unfortuantely, they would need to order a part and because this occurred on a Thursday and the time of day the part may not be in before Monday or Tuesday. I was looking at 3-4 days without a/c. In Florida, this can be brutal. The service tech offered to go back to Rockledge and secure two spot coolers, placing one in my living room and one in bedroom. Mind you know this was now around 4:30 in the afternoon and I live in Melbourne Beach. At least 45 minutes to Rockledge and another45 minutes to my home. The service tech arrived at my home sometime after 6:30 pm. He was so pleasant, quickly set up the spot coolers and provided education on how they worked. When I thanked him and expressed appreciation for going above and beyond outside of normal business hours; his response was to the effect that our customers are the most important thing to us. I shared my adventures with several friends and work colleagues. Many of them had similar events with a/c going out and needing to either suffer through the heat and humidity or go to a hotel until the part was available. I spoke to over 10 people and not one was ever offered a spot cooler as a solution until parts arrived. I have been recommending ellington air since my installation and will continue to recommend this great company with a focus on customers and their needs. They also exceeded my expectations for the replacement parts, originally thought it would be Wednesday before the a/c could be fixed. However, they will be able to do the work on Monday. My AC had ice building up on it (an ongoing problem with a unit that is around 2 years old) I called Ellington and they sent a tech out on Saturday and I was charged $99. The tech couldn't find anything wrong with the unit. I had another company (ARS rescue Rooter) come out and that tech used a sniffer on my evaporator coil finding a refrigerant leak. Ellington didn't do this check. When I called Ellington for a refund for failing to identify the problem, they didn't provide a refund. They then told me that using a sniffer to check for a leak would have cost $300 extra. Total nonsense as the company the found the refrigerant leak only charged $99 total for the service call with the sniffer. Do not use Ellington. At least the replacement of the evaporator coil is covered under warranty. read more

When I discovered mold in my 1960's AC ducts, I called several companies. Ellington was THE ONLY company that actually had a person answer the phone. All the others put me on hold while listening to a recording about how important I was to them. Ellington sent a tech , Bill, out the very same day. Bill did a thorough inspection and gave us quotes for several different options to handle the problem. We decided to have the ducts completely replaced. The job was scheduled right away and completed within days of the inspection. Several days later Ellington sent someone else out to inspect the job. A few minor issues were discovered which a tech, Steve, dealt with promptly. Superior workmanship. Great customer service. Honestly I hired Ellington because they bothered to answer the phone and because customer service MATTERS. Having several different priced out options to handle the issue made it very easy for us to decide on how we wanted it handled. I will use Ellington for all of my future AC needs. Dollars a month they told me I didn't need to have new air runs put in and now my ceiling is falling because of the moisture in my vents they told me two days ago they were going to replace my thermostat and then they stop answering phone calls. They told me on my new air handler that they could replace the in take vent so that they would match and I had a big hole cut out and had to have my wall repainted absolutely have not run into one honest word you can do better read more
