I was hopeful about this shop because of all the good reviews. I bought a couple of cute new items, and consigned a few things. I can't say I'm as enthusiastic about the store as others may be. The staff were cool at best. Though based on my time in the shop I think it depends on who the customer is. The goods are not well displayed or cared for, which is my bigger issue, as a shopper and a consigner. For instance, If i was going to spend $500 on a bag, even if its used and it is a great price compared to new, it should be more appropriately displayed than on a hook with a handful of other bags crushed together. Not to mention that items can be damaged when kept in such a haphazard manner--scratched or crushed, which is more of a problem for the consigner but nevertheless, unappealing as a buyer too. I think its probably a better shop for little dresses and cute less expensive items. read more

This is hands down the best consignment store in DC! I consign all of my things here and within DAYS they are sold. I even sold my Louis Vuitton suitcase for top dollar!! Krista is the hardest working, sweetest girl I know and she has done a fantastic job with Ella-Rue in only a few months. Every time I walk in there the place is packed and there is always new inventory. She also sells new clothes so it is a great mix between new and gently worn. I absolutely adore this store. They have a great selection of high end designer brands and an excellent range of sizes (clothing and shoes). All styles are current and in great condition. The boutique is small, and can be a bit overwhelming, but Krista and Alexa are so inviting! 1st time in and walking out I already know their names. Customer service is beyond compare. They are knowledgeable in their inventory and how to care for future items you might be taking home. I didn't feel pushed to buy and definitely didn't experience any hard selling. As a follower of Ella-Rue's instagram, I was floored to see a pair of Louboutin Pigalles in a 37.5. When I called, Alexa answered and helped me purchase them over the phone before they got snatched up. The shoes were gently used but still in great condition, with original box from Bergdorf's and duster, and for a very fair price. This store is a great example as to how high-end consignment should be conducted. Beautiful store, fantastic customer service. Could not recommend more and I look forward to continue supporting this local DC business. read more

I have owned a designer consignment boutique and shop consignment all over the world. Ella Rue is by far the best consignment boutique in the DC area if you are looking for designer, perfect condition, handbags, shoes and clothing. It's well organized, the gals are super friendly, unpretentious and helpful, and the prices are fantastic. Their inventory always seems to be fresh and seasonal. It's a small place so they seem very selective in what they take in for merchandise. I can always find the designers I like (Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Tory Burch, etc.) I don't even bother going to other consignment stores now...if I want to shop I visit Ella Rue. read more

My fiance and I recently stumbled upon Ella-Rue in Georgetown. I needed to find a black cocktail dress for an event and was able to find a $200+ dress (price tag still on) for $20 dollars on the "$20 rack" which is located on the sidewalk. This fantastic find peaked my interest so I came back when I needed a New Year's Eve party dress. I found a $150+ dress for $62! I have a bit of extra cash so I'm planning on stopping by this weekend. The selection is great! They have a great mix of top luxury designers (Chanel, Louis Vuitton) and chic Georgetown staples such as Kate Spade and Rag and Bone. Recently, I have been on the prowl for a high end designer handbag and they happened to procure exactly what I was looking for. Unicorns, warm fuzzies, and rainbows-this place is really as good as it gets. The owner took a ton of time helping me pick out numerous outfits to try on. Despite the high end labels, there was nothing high end about the attitude of the staff-they were friendly, and hospitable. One of their regulars stopped in just to say hello, and after she left, the staff said how wonderful this person was, and how happy they are she's a regular. It's always refreshing to hear speak positively about their customers. The owner told me right before check out, that she didn't care if I didn't buy anything again, just come by next time I was in the area to say hi to her-how sweet. When you enter this store you will think you have found your long lost best friend fr high school. Krista and her sister have such nice personalities, and they go out of their way to make everyone feel welcomed. The selection is wonderful and one never knows what one will find. Ella Rue is a great little designer vintage shop. I had no idea it was vintage until I walked in - the pieces in the window looked brand new (the ones inside are in great shape too). Best consignment store I've been too. Extremely clean and organized, beautifully decorated in a great neighborhood. They have everything organized by type, size, and nothing is out of place. The prices are more than fair. In fact, when I came in, they were having 20% additional off on sweaters. The girls (and one guy) working there were EXTREMELY friendly - they even offered me pizza!
