I use to work at Annette's Hair Studio.. but myself and four other hairstylist came to work at Ella Rae Salon (RITA, MICHELLE, LISA, REBEKAH AND CHRISTINE a manicurist). My mother, who had recently been discharged from the hospital, needed hair care. I accompanied her to the salon and inquired about the cost of a hair color and layering service. The stylist quoted me $100 and estimated the service would take an hour and a half. When I returned to pick up my mother, the stylist was still working on her hair and asked for permission to dry her hair, which I granted. However, I was surprised to find that we were charged $170, excluding tip. When I questioned the discrepancy, the stylist explained that the additional cost was for the haircut, dye and drying. My mother, who prefers to avoid confrontation, felt uncomfortable discussing the issue, so we paid the amount. Given my mother's hair care needs, I believe the additional charge was excessive. I am frustrated with the experience and feel that the pricing was not transparent. I intend to file a formal complaint with the Michigan Better Business Bureau and write a letter to the state of Michigan regarding the salon's pricing practices. I am disappointed in the change in service and pricing. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!
