They have a very nice setup and favorable hours to start, which is good as I schedule most of my hair appointments on impulse out of sheet frustraton. I liked that when I called and asked for someone experienced with curly hair, that the girl actually went and checked, instead of giving me a standard, "They're all good" kind of answer. They do carry some organic/vegan hair products as well as ethically sourced hair products for those of you concerned about it. The shampoo bowls are really REALLY comfortable, no neck cramping. Austin gave me a banging curly bob. Edgy, sexy, but still listened to the things that bothered me most. Their prices are really good for the area, so you don't feel destroyed after leaving either. Everyone at Ella Rae was so kind, and the salon is taking great precautions for Covid. Gabriella was terrific - listened to what my goals were and gave me one of the best haircuts/styles I have ever had - and at my age that says a lot! I will definitely be a regular. I highly recommend this salon! I have very curly, thick hair that is beginning to turn grey and it is very hard to manage, yet they always make my hair look fantastic! I have it chemically straightened (I'll never go back to curly hair again!), highlighted and cut and I always love it! I also had a tendency to call in desperate need of a cut or highlight, and they always seem to fit me in. I don't trust many with my locks but she is amazing attentive and efficient. She also does phenomenal eye brow waxing. Rob is also wonderful, as I know many who adore him! I visiting from Atlanta and was desperate for a keratin treatment and a trim. SO SO SO glad I went to Ella Rae and let Austin do his magic! Living in the south my hair turns into a Brillo pad in the summer and keratin keeps me sane. This was the best treatment, plus the best haircut I have had in years. I love this salon! I just moved to the area and have difficulties finding the time to go across town to get a haircut, so I decided to give a local salon a try. Ella Rae is the first place I called because it was the closest, and it worked out great. My call was answered almost immediately and they stated they were available for walk-in appointments. My first impression walking in was that this salon was clean, welcoming, and offered a great relaxing atmosphere. I was greeted by the main desk to get checked in and was sitting down to get my haircut within the next 5/10 minutes. During the few moments I spent sipping my fresh fruit infused water in their waiting area, I noticed they have nail services available and decided to book a manicure appointment following my haircut. To my pleasure, I had my hair cut by the owner, Raquel. She sat me down in the chair and we assessed my needs. It was easy to communicate to Raquel exactly what I wanted done and from there I had my hair washed, cut, and styled to perfection. I mentioned to her that I am working towards having healthier hair and she suggested a keratin-bonding conditioning treatment. I highly suggest others get the same because my hair feels more moisturized and nourished...which is great for this cold winter weather!! Following my haircut, I was only a few short steps away from getting a great manicure! My impression of their upstairs is the same as the downstairs. Biggest note is that they are super CLEAN! So refreshing to see that in a nail salon, well any salon...as most places are not quite what I'd expect. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting and having my nails done by Artist, Alyssa. She is personable and a joy to talk with. I came in with leftover gel polish chipping off of my nails and did not even want to look at my nails. I left with gorgeous manicured beauties. This salon is also in a great location right off of woodward. This salon has many windows and I found comfort in being able to view the world outside while I was being pampered. I enjoy the layout of the salon as the styling stations are open yet still offered the feeling of being personal. Thank you Raquel and Alyssa for a great experience, I will be back. I visited them a few months ago for a smoothening Keratin Treatment using a groupon. The treatment was so bad.. The products they used was not at all effective. Their was absolutely no results and yes this was not the first time I got a keratin treatment done so I know how it works and how the results are supposed to be. Complete waste of money and time.
