I went to this as it was one of numerous recommended facilities for hand therapy from my doctor…read more I went several times/had appointments with Susan...each time holding out hope that services would be progressive/get better with time. Unfortunately, like with some other reviewers here, my experiences were disappointing and unhelpful. Here are some highlights of my experiences: - Being hooked up to the TENS machine and subsequently, left alone/ignored for most of the rest of the visit, even when I had questions/concerns about the machine. (I'm talking, 20-30 minutes/this took up the bulk of each appointment time, with the shortest appointment between 40 minutes). Also, every single visit, I was given a different set; seemed like Susan misplaced the one I had from a previous appointment each time. - Having ultrasound gel spread over my hand..maybe 5-10 minutes - At 2 appointments: a 2-3 minute hand massage My hand saw little improvement by even this clinic's own objective assessments/using their measurement tools. Despite the lack of improvement even after coming several times, I was never given any additional exercises/recommendations for at-home. (I thought I might have been misinformed/ignorant to expect more or different services, but even my referring doctor and her assistants expressed shock that I was never taught/encouraged to do much home exercises. I did think that this practice wanted me to become dependent upon them/as a source of reliable revenue) This place is sadly another example of our greedy health-reactive system (not health"care")

After seeing her a number of times using acupuncture, moxa, and cupping the shoulder issue went away! The things I appreciate about Emily are: She explains things clearly and has a gentle, caring manner. She doesn't ever press you to book more appointments, she'll let you reserve a slot but is all right if you cancel it (no extra charge). She and her office crew help you figure out the insurance (!!!). Then about a couple of months later I went back for a lower back issue and she worked to ease the shooting pain and made me feel normal again. Fast forward a few more months. Now I'm back seeing her because of a foot issue, she is helping to stimulate blood flow around a broken bone in my foot to help it heal completely as it's stalled out at 75%. The point of all this is that I keep going back to Emily because she helps me to heal and feel better.

Sally is awesome! I've had acupuncture off and on from various practitioners, for various issues…read moreover the years, and Sally is by far the best I have found. She is truly top notch. I had been suffering from chronic, work related, hand and arm pain for months. It was pretty severe and was keeping me awake at night. It had also begun interfering with my ability to do my job. I felt like I had tried everything and was beginning to resign myself to just pain management, without hope of actually getting better. Sally recommended a schedule of twice weekly visits for 4 weeks. However, after only 1 treatment my pain was significantly reduced and I was sleeping through the night with no issues. After only 3 treatments my pain was completely gone! Now, I'm just on a maintenance plan to keep everything in check. Really amazing stuff. Sally has a quiet and compassionate manner. She listens carefully and makes helpful suggestions that I can implement easily on a daily basis. She receives my very highest recommendation.

Ross Acupuncture is an exceptional find. Jennifer Ross is a truly gifted, compassionate and…read moreapproachable practitioner who runs a seamless, professional practice. I spent a frustrating year trying everything to rehab painful plantar fasciitis, but was stuck at 25% healed. After finding Ross Acupuncture my recovery finally kicked into high gear. It took a few weeks of treatments, but then my foot improved rapidly, going from 25% - 90% in a couple months (and considering that I was stuck at 25% for a year, it was a massive shift). Jen is very talented; her needle placement works wonders. When she added a needle at the top of my head to help with stress, I was completely blissed out for the rest of the day. (Honestly, that one needle alone was worth the entire visit!) The office space is serene and inviting. Parking is plentiful. Scheduling online is super easy, and the automated text reminders are helpful. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top-tier acupuncturist in Oakland.

I found Ross Acupuncture a little over a year ago, and it has been an absolute game-changer!! Jen is incredibly knowledgeable and has helped relieve countless nagging and acute issues. I have hypermobile ligaments/tendons, flat feet, and I put in between 10-20+ hours of training a week, so I put a TON of wear and tear (and stress!) on my body. I am also super prone to things like plantar fasciitis as a flat-footed runner and Jen has been a lifesaver on more than many occasions when things flare up. She has also been able to get to the root of some of the injuries I've had off and on for a long time. Full transparency: treatment may not be the most comfortable all the time. Sometimes you might not feel it, sometimes it may be rather intense -- especially if you're coming for injury/pain. But, if you're an athlete (or even just active) and want to return to training, it is beyond worth it when your issues are resolved within just a few treatments (or sometimes in one session!) She often does stim on the needles which is my absolute favorite part. I find that this method to yield the best results for me. Tbh, I can't say enough good things about this clinic or Jen! I recommend her to my students and friends when they have issues come up. Side note: I have also done the facial acupuncture with Renee and recommend that as well! That's definitely a much more relaxing experience . If you're looking for an acupuncturist who can really dive deep into whatever aches and pains brought you to inquire about acupuncture, you've found the right place!

The first time I saw her, it was at the recommendation of a friend who was taking classes in the Hendrickson method. At the time, I was suffering from chronic back pain. I was quite surprised, because during that first visit, she did targeted massage work and used an activator tool. She suggested that I see her a couple more times and I did. She did some manual manipulations during the later sessions which I found surprisingly gentle and not scary at all. After three visits, my back pain was completely gone. Since then, I have learned how to move properly. But I'm an active person and can put my body through a lot of strain sometimes. So part of my management includes scheduling an appointment for a "tune up" on occasion. I've seen her for all kinds of aches and pains over the years - hip, foot, ankle, toe, elbow, as well as my back. She can work on it all. In fact, I just saw her Tuesday night because I'm training for a weightlifting certification event and tweaked my back during practice. I felt better as soon as I got off the table. Now it's Friday and I feel ready and able to do my weightlifting certification this weekend! I am honored to include Michelle as an essential member of my healthcare team.

My own case in recent times of lower and middle neck pain took me to two months worth of renown practitioners of bodywork, orthopedic acupuncture all of which were relieving for about one day. Sleep deprivation was becoming a crisis, and I decided to go to the famous Hendrickson clinic in Kensington only to learn that Tom Hendrickson retired and closed his clinic. One of his top practitioners was Dr. Michelle who had gone into private practice on Solano Avenue. I immediately signed up, and amazingly I got 90% relief on the first visit that was lasting and get me to sleep at night. I've gone once per week on four more occasions, and now the problem is fully resolved. Dr. Michelle's work is very gentle and extraordinarily precise. I teach human anatomy at local colleges, and I was surprised by her knowledge and precision. She works for a considerable amount of time preparing the musculature and has been using the gentle activator tool to correct scoliosis on me along with muscle education to release cramped scalenes and levator scapula muscles. On the last three occasions she did gentle cervical manipulations that fully completed the release of my neck cramps. I plan to go back for regular tune ups. I happily offer her my highest recommendation. I found that gentleness, full half hour preparations, precision and excellent knowledge of the body are some of the treasures she has to offer. If people go for her full half hour preparations, they will be much better benefited by Dr. Michelle's work. I'm very impressed and will be back regularly.
