It took me 4 months to finally pick up my pants. Anyway, Mrs. Diaz's house is right by the freeway and near Main St. She has a small "shop" at the side of her house full of clothes to be altered. She's a busy woman! This is exactly what I wanted, since this is how I used get my clothes done in the Bay Area. I turned in a Speechless dress with real nice fabric to have the length increased and the shoulder straps adjusted. I have complete confidence in the final product.

I wanna start this off by saying that Edith is a very sweet woman, I had my wedding dress altered…read moreby her. It looks really amazing, I'm only giving three stars because I felt there was no communication with her outside of being physically in the shop. I made an appointment with her for July 11th. At my first appointment, we talked about what I wanted done hemming in the front, added bustle, and a modesty panel behind my corset back, and she also recommended what she would like to do to my dress to make it fit better. After she had put all the pins in she gave me my receipt and said to come back in three weeks on August 1st and it would be finished. She messaged me on July 30th asking me to come on the 2nd instead. I agreed. Now when I had went three weeks later, I expected the dress to be done since she never told me otherwise. Only the hemming on the bottom of the dress was done, but then a she started to pin the underside of my dress for my bustles again. My mom was with me at the appointment, she asked her if she needed to redo the pinning for the bustles she said yes. After this, she said to come back in one week on August 10th and it'll be done. Again. We were on our way (mind you my mom lives an hour away, and I live 30 minutes away), we hit some traffic and I messaged to her let her know we'd be a few minutes late. She didn't respond until we were outside her building, she said the dress wasn't done because she needed to order the bustles and they were arriving until Thursday August 13th. She did apologize for not letting us know, but at this point we were already there. She said it would be done on Saturday August 15th, this time it was done and it looked amazing. She did give us a discount for the inconvenience of coming to Visalia since she didn't let us know the dress was not done on August 10th. She was apologetic for that, and a really sweet woman. I would just say to try and over communicate with her on your end and ask plenty of questions so pickups and what you're needing done is clear.

Instead, the interaction was memorable for reasons I doubt the business would intend. The employee assisting me, Sol, seemed distinctly inconvenienced by the basic act of helping a customer. She sighed when she had to put down her phone, setting the tone for an experience that felt less like customer service and more like an imposition. I wasn't making an unusual request -- simply attempting to buy the products the store exists to sell. It's always a bit surprising to feel as though your presence is a disruption rather than the purpose of the establishment. Thankfully, there are other uniform stores in town, and I look forward to completing future purchases in a more welcoming environment.
