Hip Still Not Right - Need a Hip Replacement Revision…read more I had an anterior hip replacement with Dr. Andrew Porter. I am 56 years old and average weight. I had arthritis in my hip joints, thanks to genetics, and needed my hip replaced. Surgery with Dr. Porter went as planned, so I thought... Shortly after surgery, I noticed something was off. I had had my other hip replaced 7 years ago, so I was familiar with the recovery process. Unfortunately, my hip was painfully popping out of the socket and back in. I kept going to Dr. Porter telling him something wasn't right. Dr. Porter said I needed to continue with physical therapy, which I did. It is still no better after 5 months of therapy, and my range of motion is very limited. Dr. Porter told me a revision would also limit my range of motion and be more invasive than the first surgery. He basically tried to talk me out of fixing my hip. I can't live like this. I can't even walk properly. Needless to say. I never went back. Do not let the pain rush you into surgery. I should have waited for a more experienced surgeon.

Just an amazing warm non stressed visit. Everybody there was just awesome to me. I had followed up upon Dr Brian Patel's instructions to sturdy's orthopedic office. And I gotta tell ya. Again. Ashley is just truly an amazing beautiful woman that took great care of me. Next was Sarah, who also was totally incredibly awesome to me. With gentle hands and touches they all made me feel really comfortable and relaxed. I can't say enough. But what an awesome place. I give sturdy a five . If there's a ten . I'd give it. Ty sturdy. I had a mild case of Covid in February but had long hauler symptoms of not being able to get enough air into my lungs. Felt like I was suffocating. I had chest palpitations, shortness or breath and extreme muscle weakness. I started my PT with Emily. My RHR was 158 with O2 between 94-96%. After a few short weeks of multiple days a weeks I was able to breathe normally without issues. My O2 got back up to 99% and my RHR was below 70. My muscle weakness improved tremendously now that I can get oxygen to my muscles. I am able to enjoy bike riding and 2-3 mile hikes without effort. HIGHLY recommend PPT if you have Covid related issues Thank you for getting my life back on track

Where do I start? Dr. Brendan Boyle has been very helpful…read moregetting me back prior to my injury. He always asks how I am doing and any changes have occurred since the last visit. He is willing to get in-depth about what is going on whether it's a present pain or the reason why a certain stretch or exercise could/would be favorable. He treats me and others there like human being and not like just another Pt. ES Amanda Stors shares the same philosophies in the caring of myself and others that are there to get back on the road to recovery. She, as does Brendan, will take time just to briefly chat about things that are not directly to do with the reason why you are there. These are the two staff I have the most contact with but I must say that all the faculty share the same ideal. I highly recommend Performance Physical Therapy in Attleboro. Jim H.

University Orthopedics places making as much money off you as possible far above patient interests…read more My experience here was terrible and I want to warn anyone else against trusting the team here. I received bills for things that team members explicitly told me were not going to cost me money. If anyone comes into your room to give you something, tell them to shove it. If they schedule you to with the OT team here, push it back a couple weeks ago so you don't end up going only to find out you aren't recovered enough to start. This group even has their sales people dress in scrubs so you'll assume they are care providers. University Orthopedics is not a place you to go to get your injuries healed, it's a place you go to to lose trust in doctors. I would recommend going anywhere else so you don't end up feeling as stupid as I do for trusting them.

Most recently Adam and Todd worked with me to relieve shoulder pain that was greatly affecting my daily life. Going in I thought that I would very likely need surgery to relieve the pain which I had been experiencing for more than a year and was impacting my daily life. Through well planned out, patient and steady therapy laid out by Todd and administered by Adam, I slowly but steadily saw improvement to the point that I am no longer hampered by shoulder pain during normal activity. I am also able to play hockey and pickle ball again without restriction. I would recommend Houghton Physical Therapy to anyone that wants to work with a professional group of therapists who provide excellent results in a friendly and accommodating atmosphere.

Monday morning after thanksgiving I called Elliot hoping to get an appointment. I'm not sure if they heard the desperation in my voice or if that's how they run their practice, but they were able to get me in immediately. And I mean immediately! Like I called at 9something and they got me in for 10am! I got to my appointment with Julie with weakness and numbness in my right leg. I felt better right away and have been getting stronger everyday and have no pain! I had an emergency with my dog and had to cancel my appointment for yesterday. Emily (one of the girls from the front desk I think) called me today to check on me and my dog! After one of the worst days of my life yesterday, it was so nice to hear from Emily. It made me feel like they actually care about their patients unlike a lot of other medical offices I've been. Thank you Elliot!!

Dr. Ackerman was nice, knowledgable, and efficient. A resident/fellow sees you first, and then reviews notes with the doctor who subsequently sees you briefly to discuss the treatment plan. One star off because they seem to always be running a little behind schedule, but overall a good experience and good medical care. Casting is quick and painless, and the technicians are friendly and make you feel comfortable. They validate parking - $2 cash only. If you're a Brown student/staff/faculty, take the university shuttle to RIH and just avoid parking altogether. The garage spaces are limited, and it can be a headache.
