Hip Still Not Right - Need a Hip Replacement Revision…read more I had an anterior hip replacement with Dr. Andrew Porter. I am 56 years old and average weight. I had arthritis in my hip joints, thanks to genetics, and needed my hip replaced. Surgery with Dr. Porter went as planned, so I thought... Shortly after surgery, I noticed something was off. I had had my other hip replaced 7 years ago, so I was familiar with the recovery process. Unfortunately, my hip was painfully popping out of the socket and back in. I kept going to Dr. Porter telling him something wasn't right. Dr. Porter said I needed to continue with physical therapy, which I did. It is still no better after 5 months of therapy, and my range of motion is very limited. Dr. Porter told me a revision would also limit my range of motion and be more invasive than the first surgery. He basically tried to talk me out of fixing my hip. I can't live like this. I can't even walk properly. Needless to say. I never went back. Do not let the pain rush you into surgery. I should have waited for a more experienced surgeon.

University Orthopedics places making as much money off you as possible far above patient interests…read more My experience here was terrible and I want to warn anyone else against trusting the team here. I received bills for things that team members explicitly told me were not going to cost me money. If anyone comes into your room to give you something, tell them to shove it. If they schedule you to with the OT team here, push it back a couple weeks ago so you don't end up going only to find out you aren't recovered enough to start. This group even has their sales people dress in scrubs so you'll assume they are care providers. University Orthopedics is not a place you to go to get your injuries healed, it's a place you go to to lose trust in doctors. I would recommend going anywhere else so you don't end up feeling as stupid as I do for trusting them.

I had an appointment with Dr. Blazer. It was the worst experience I have had with a doctor. He…read moreliterally took 5 minutes with me. He never tried to help me and assess what my disc issue was. He referred me for shots with the pain clinic and never once looked at my prior MRI disc that I provided. He basically minimized my pain because of my fibromyalgia and said I should be taking medication. Had he looked at the prior scans, he would have seen I have C4, C5 and C6 as well as L4 and L5 herniated discs, yet he couldn't be bothered to take the time to properly diagnose me. His bedside manner is condescending and rude. People come to him in pain and he thought it was professional to laugh and smile while saying " Oh you've been in pain for 19yrs. Very unprofessional.

: Incredible Administrative Care, but Completely Let Down by the Providers:I have very mixed…read moreemotions about my visit here. On one hand, I want to give a massive shoutout to Kristen White. She was incredibly professional, genuinely listened to my requests, and took excellent care of me. In a moment when I was in extreme pain and feeling completely overwhelmed, Kristen made me feel like an actual human being. Her empathy and customer service were a solid 5/5 stars.Unfortunately, the medical care from the actual providers was deeply disappointing. I came in with an acute sports injury after hearing a physical "pop" in my foot, experiencing swelling on the top of my foot, and dealing with severe nerve pain. They took X-rays but didn't bother to sit down, look at them with me, or properly explain a clear diagnosis. Instead, they completely dismissed a severe structural injury as basic plantar fasciitis, handed me some topical gel, and sent me on my way.To make matters worse, they told me it was "normal to work under these conditions"--completely ignoring the fact that my daily job requires heavy pulling, pushing, and lifting of heavy objects. Because they refused to give me an immobilization boot or take the soft-tissue damage seriously, I have spent days favoring my left leg. I have now developed agonizing sciatica from straining my back just trying to hobble around.Kristen White deserves a promotion for her outstanding humanity and professionalism, but the medical providers seriously need to re-evaluate how they dismiss patients with acute traumatic injuries.

After suffering from chronic knee pain for about two months, I decided to look up a nearby…read moreorthopedic office to take a look. Orthopedic Group of RI appeared to be my most convenient option. Almost 3 hours before my scheduled appointment I received a call asking if I could come in early. Being that I was at work and required coverage if I left, this was not possible. I made it there for the appointment just on time. It was clear the medical assistant was displeased I was unable to come in early. She approached the secretary and asked if I had finished my paperwork, I replied I had one page left, and she says "Well, just come into the room and I will help you finish it." Clearly, I have just learned how to write and cannot complete a simple form on my own. Feeling bad, I explained I cannot leave early if I don't have coverage. She responds, "It's ok, we just rarely ever have a day that is not booked, it would have been nice to leave early but it is what it is." Which would have been fine but it was the tone in which she said it that just left me feeling totally unwanted and uncomfortable. I was then sent in for x-rays and the technician was nice enough, I was in and out of the x-ray room within 5 minutes. I met the doctor for the first time and he was informative, had me do a few exercises, and told me he believed it was just a severe case of tendonitis. Then, prescribed about a month's worth of physical therapy and some pain medication. Ok, not bad. I check out and upon checking out am told they only have one physical therapist at the practice and he is booked until next month but I can call around to any other place that offers PT? Yeah, ok, I'll get right on that. Even though my doctor was decent, the majority of the staff just seemed absolutely miserable. I think I'll do some of my own PT and take my business elsewhere next time around.
