I've tried to join various gyms around Atlanta for the past 20 years, and have not kept it up to…read moreany extent at all - usually attending each for just a few times per year. To my amazement, Jam Fitness has kept me interested and working out - last month I completed 16 workouts. This month I am on track for 25+. What keeps me going back is the heart rate based system - you wear a heart rate monitor which also calculates calories burned. Everyone's heart rate is displayed on the big board in the gym, and a running leader board helps inspire competition - I try to see how far up on the leader board I can get. Since joining on Oct. 17, I have lost 11 pounds (about 7 weeks later), due to my workouts at Jam and tightening up on my diet. After burning 800 plus calories per session at Jam (takes about 1:15 to do that for me), I am more careful about what I eat. I'm on my way to lose 30 pounds total over the next several months, and happy to tell folks about Jam Fitness. My friends and family can tell the difference and so can I. One of the other nice things about Jam Fitness is that it's small enough to feel sort of like a family - with nice supportive staff, and huge variation every day in what exercises are done at each station. Pretty cool stuff. It feels if I skip a day or two, I need to tell staff because they are attentive to attendance (at least in my mind). Not like the big gyms, that's for sure, in many ways.

This facility has an endless amount of classes to choose from including activities like 'The Pact Challenge', which I joined, and have loved so far as it's allowed me to meet more people as well as expand my own knowledge and understanding about health and wellness. Also, I've been working with Bekah, one of the fitness specialists, and she has helped motivate me as well as improve my overall health & lifestyle goals. The theme was "Trap, Twerk, and Booty Werk" and the playlist did not disappoint! You know the class is gonna be hype when the first song is Beyoncé "Drunk in Love". Check in was so easy and everyone was really welcoming. At the time I went, the first class was $10. This location is small since it's Midtown. You can park in the Publix lot for free or do street parking. They do have lockers and restrooms to change, but I believe there are only 2 or 3 single person restrooms so I would just come already changed. I like how you don't have to pay extra to rent cycling shoes like some places. Once in the studio, there are people to help you get situated and get your bike adjusted and shoes clipped in, which was so helpful! The class is so fun that you don't even really feel like you're working out since there are lights and music videos. It's kinda like you went to the club and just happened to be getting an awesome work out in as well, haha. They have a leaderboard if you're the competitive type. And if you're not, then they only show it for like 5 seconds a few times during the class. They send you a progress report email after class to see how you did! I had a great experience at this studio and can't wait to take another class! Work out classes at studios can sometimes be awkward and intimidating but there is none of that at all here, which I really liked!

As part of our "try em all" approach, we booked at Vibe Ride for their first class of the day! Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the staff and quickly checked in! The team all helped us figure out the bike setup (different than what our home studios use) and we were on our way! Based on the friendliness of the instructor and the high energy from others, I was excited. As the class started, I was a bit shocked to see we were using music videos on YouTube as our music. Considering there are commercials/ ads and they wanted to skip certain parts of the song... it was a struggle. After a couple of songs and it not being anything like what I was used to (smoothly run, no breaks in music, etc), I was pretty checked out. I wanted to love this place from the staff and the vibes but my colleagues and I all left saying we wouldn't come back. The class seemed choppy with the YouTube use and the moves shown didn't always seem safe with the stability of these bikes. Unfortunately not a place for me but others did clearly love their experience.

Hunter has always communicated with me over the years and although I've never committed to Crossfit 404 he's always been there regardless to answer any questions I may have. The only reason we choose to become members of our current Box over 404 is because over a year ago when we were looking at the best fit for us was because at 404 there was only a 7am & 12pm class that we were interested in. NOW, 404 has a 8am & still has the 12pm which has made it super appealing! Crossfit 404 is nestled conveniently smack dead center of Buckhead and super convenient! We like that we can jump into this location without allowing our head to play games on us because of our current location we are members at being so far away with the Atlanta traffic! The inside of the gym is very clean and equipment is labeled with no confusion as to where it goes! They have coffee, shakes, food, sitting area, phone charging decks and they are pet friendly! I'm posting a pic of the WOD we partook in and also what my calories burned being 1,080 were. Insane! We did have to run in the rain this day and also had to do rope climbs which we have hardly ever practiced. My shoes were wet so I had to chalk up to keep from face planting the ground from the slip and slide. Coming into 2018 we have some major considerations as to if we are going to make this our home. We love it here and can't wait to be back!

I do really love this gym and feel that it has grown into quite a home. I have been fortunate to…read morenot had too many bad CrossFit box experiences across the various places I've lived, but 404 is special and I'm happy to be part of the community. Onboarding was super easy, Hunter set me up with a week's trial period to test out if I liked it and everything was smooth sailing from there. The insides: The gym is clean, maintained, and conveniently located with lots of parking in the back. The equipment is practically never broken and the community is good about cleaning up after itself and keeping it neat looking. The programming: There's a ton of variety at this gym, seven regular CrossFit class time options during the week, three on Saturday and a Sunday WOD; an option for 'misfits', for those who are not looking to engage in as intense a program as CrossFit, two sessions of foundations classes, two weekly 'endurance' classes, and a kids program. Bring a friend one of three times a week to the basic classes and get them started. The skills-build rotates in series, meaning, that there will be a focus of building two particular movements slowly to a one rep max over the course of about a month to six weeks. The two movements are complimentary in muscle groups and then complemented with gymnastics movements such as pull-ups, handstand pushups, muscle-ups and double-under rope jumps, etc. The cycle rotate upper body strength with lower body strength so a member doesn't experience the same movement focus on an on-going basis. Lastly, 404 conducts skills workshops periodically and a barbell class every Saturday at 8am to work on specific skills, which I think is awesome. The trainers: All trainers are very knowledgeable at 404, making sure to go over the correct way to perform a movement to stretching and 'afterparty' recovery movements to keep you healthy and from hurting yourself. If you do hurt yourself, they help to ice you down and walk it off if need be. I personally have been hurting myself a whole lot more as I gain in age and stupidly now cannot gauge well what I can (and mostly cannot do anymore - when your mind tells you that you're done with deadlift - do NOT try to pick up 200+ lbs again). The member ages range from early twenty into the fifties and the trainers accommodate and adjust across any skill set. The community engagement: The members at this gym care about getting involved and giving back. Throughout the year 404 will engage in community events: volunteering events at soup kitchens, fundraisers for various causes, social media give-away contests, and holiday WOD and some parties (bowling and boating anyone?). Additionally, the gym is dog friendly, so bring your four legged friends along.

In addition, Citadel Nutrition's line of supplements is ON POINT. I've never seen a supplement company with such minimal ingredient lists. Their Tier 1 pre-workout leaves me feeling energized but not jittery, and never feels like I just dosed myself with chemicals. Clean burn. I love that they have a powdered vitamin that I can mix in to shakes and whatnot instead of taking pills, and their fish oils are super high quality (no fishy burps!). The quality of their products is matched only to the quality of their gym space. The guys over at CN are genuine about their love of fitness and it shows.
