Very cool place. shh it's a secret. It's like you were…read moreinstantly ported back to the 1920's right in the middle of prohibition. A very charming unassuming little boutique store front with some tee shirts and souvenirs when you first walk in. Then you whisper the magic password and the gentleman escorts you through a narrow little doorway, a vestibule and door then opens to a perfectly recreated 1920's prohibition speakeasy. The motif is perfect from vintage art work on the wall to the hanging chandeliers and the big leather couches and chairs all in a very dark lighting. There is one way glass so you can see whoever comes into the store ( police or significant other) but they can't see you! Lol. And you can't leave through the front where you came in. You are guided to the back of the establishment to the back door which lets out into a narrow gangway then to the alley. I think Al Capone himself was going to jump out at me. lol. The bartenders/ mixologists further raise your experience by providing enjoyable banter and well made cocktails. Espresso Martini's and a Donut Raspberry Cheesecake were the drinks and dessert of choice and both were amazing. If you wind up going I suggest for you gals, a flapper dress with the beads and sequins with a cocoon coat and some tee strap heels. Guys your fanciest fedora and some two tone lace up oxfords. Either way you're gonna have a Roaring 20's great time. Let me know if you're interested and I'll tell the password or yiu you have dinner upstairs at The Roof, tell them you want the password for The Door.

Just stopped in for a Guinness, and had a martini or two instead! Laura was our mixologist and she…read moremakes a great dirty martini! We love her, very crowded, but she handled everyone like the pro she is! Long live the Door!!

We chose The Black Sheep to celebrate our anniversary and my wife's birthday, and it could not have…read morebeen a better experience. The atmosphere was upscale without feeling stiff special enough for a celebration, yet warm and comfortable for the entire family. Our waitress, Kayla, was absolutely wonderful. She was friendly, attentive, and helped make the evening feel genuinely special. It felt like she was using some of that Georgia southern charm! Every course impressed us. From the starter to the entrées, everything was prepared beautifully and full of flavor. We even ordered dessert, which we almost never do, and it was worth every bite. The best way I can describe the food is big-city quality meets Georgia country comfort and hospitality. Our kids loved it, my wife loved it, and I loved it. We consider ourselves serious food people, and The Black Sheep easily earned five stars from our entire family. If you're vacationing in Blue Ridge and looking for a wonderful meal and memorable experience, make a reservation here. You will not be disappointed!

I had bookmarked this restaurant after seeing it on a previous trip to Blue Ridge. Slightly outside…read moreof the main town, it has easy parking and a huge indoor and outdoor space. The menu reads as "upscale southern", but the pricing is very reasonable compared to similar restaurants. Easy to book via Resy, this place does get busy at weekends so reservations are recommended. We saw several parties turned away or told to come back after 9PM. We were seated quickly at our reservation time. The dining room isn't very comfortable; seats are wobbly, and benches are too high for the tables and not well padded. Staff is friendly, and gave good recommendations. The bar seemed to be running behind, as we waited longer for drinks than for food. Overall, the food was very good, and rated alone would have been a 4/5 for me. The lamb was tasty (although not as falling-off-the-bone as the server suggested it would be). Portions are pretty large. The potatoes au gratin are made with shredded potato and parmesan, so it's more of a potato casserole than I expected. Unfortunately, there aren't many vegetable choices on the menu; collards or Brussels sprouts, and the latter is only available as a large sharing dish. Some entrees had their own veg (one had broccoli, one peppers) but others just came with a potato side. Overall, it was a great meal but I was ready to leave - the uncomfortable seating and fellow diners (drunk to our left, and FaceTiming to our right) didn't make for a great ambiance. One last thing... One of my bugbears is menu wording, and this menu really bugged me. One entree featured "a demi", when they meant a demi-glace sauce (using demi alone means "half"), and the side was named "Au Gratin" without mentioning what vegetable was actually under the topping. It's potato, but it could have been anything - "au gratin" by itself just means a broiled topping. It's either lazy or dumb, but if you're trying to show upscale then at least use the phrases and words properly. You're writing for the customer, not for another chef. Rant over.
