This moonshine is very flavorful and rich in taste. I would drink it as an after dinner drink, served on the rocks but I think it would also taste great added to coffee. They also have moonshine "whiskey" in 2 flavors but these were a bit too strong for my taste and didn't really taste like whiskey although a lot of people enjoyed it. The owners are great! So approachable. Raymond the owner even pulled out a prohibition whiskey bottle to show me. Never been opened and he has been offered a hefty sum of money for it but he still keeps it. Doug - his soon - is very knowledgeable with the process and can answer any questions. I was here for an after wedding party so we had our own music and could bring our own booze in, too. We arrived right when they opened, and the first thing we noticed was how modern, open, and beautiful the main building is. The ambiance inside is warm and inviting, and the views of the Blue Ridge Mountains are absolutely breathtaking from every angle. The patio is huge -- two levels of seating with umbrellas -- plus another outdoor area and bar near the food truck. Honestly, we could have sat out there all day just soaking in the scenery. It's the kind of place that makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. We had reservations in the dining room, which was elegant and refined, very much in line with the Roost Bistro's upscale atmosphere. The food, however, was just okay for us. My wife's seafood pasta was a bit bland, and my short rib was lukewarm and needed more seasoning. Not bad -- just not as impressive as the setting. We ordered additional wine in the beautiful open tasting room, which is separate from the dining tab. Our total came to $118. Even with the food being average, the wine, the views, and the overall experience were wonderful. Next time, we'll probably skip the dining room and opt for wine and the food truck instead -- enjoy the mountain backdrop and make a full afternoon of it. Roo Mountain is absolutely a place we'll be returning to.

The legion has an outdoor patio for smokers that overlooks the Coosawatte River, as does the Tiki bar on the river's edge on the deck. The inside bar is air conditioned and has large tables for groups. There is a pool table. Children are welcome, however, they are not permitted to sit at the bar. Fresh food is served. Full bar. Drink specials. Raffles. Large, fun events are scheduled most months. It's a popular destination for many veteran motorcycle clubs. All proceeds fund veterans programs and the Legion. Membership is available, also to the Sons of the American Legion and Legion Riders.
