I have been to Elijah's twice within the last two weeks. The food and service were much better than what I received at Annie's. The boiled shrimp was outstanding. The crab dip was the best I have ever had. The shrimp and oysters were so fresh and fried perfectly. The staff was very helpful and checked frequently on your needs. The first time I sat outside and the second time inside. Both were great. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food and good service. Went 2 times in 2 days had issues both days. After $350 spent for 2 people. I would expect better service on day 1 and false advertising on day 2. Server Chelsea was not great on day 1 and While the manager made up for it, she certainly didn't make it easy on day 2. This place is only successful because of the location. Hard pass for the $$. Elijah's is a great spot to come for sunset appetizers, drinks and possibly also dinner if you're hungry. Their burger is next level amazing with the pimento cheese, but be ready to get messy... it will drip, so lean over the plate. I started by cutting mine in half. At sunset you'll have sun glaring at you as it reflect off the water, so bring sunglasses. And in the winter be ready for the temperature to quickly drop after sunset. The view is amazing, watching the sun fall behind the bridge, and light up the sky in a beautiful cascade of colors. I love the casual vibe of this place, laid back with a long outdoor patio seating. They have a handful of great beers on tap, and we all loved the oyster shot with the taste of Bloody Mary and oyster together-- marvelous. Low-key vibe. read more

The food was great, we got the crab fries and the crab cake with orzo. The orzo was similar to dirty rice and it was so good. The crab cakes were refreshing and so good. First time in Wilmington & impromptu stopped here for lunch while on the riverwalk. Gorgeous day to be sitting outside! Our waiter Victor was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu, we went two of his recommendations, 1 doz oyster flight and the smoked fish dip. The dip is served cold so it was perfect for the beautiful day, it was also nice and light so perfect as an appetizer. Oysters were super fresh! We also ordered the crab cake sandwich, also delicious. It was a big sandwich but not heavy, the crab cake itself was melting in your mouth, my husband dubbed it "the best crab cake he's ever had". Perfect amount of tartar sauce, for a nice zing but not over powering. Came by this boardwalk restaurant for lunch and got the fried platter with four($26) and 6 fresh oyster ($15). For the platter I got oyster, fish, and double order of oysters (wanted scallops but they ran out). After about 20 minutes the food arrived. The fried fish had a good batter, was seasoned and crispy. The fried shrimp and fried oysters were also good. The fresh oyster were served with lemon, cocktail sauce with horseradish. The fresh oysters were a good size and had a medium briny taste to it. Staff and service were good given the crowd. Overall it was a good experience with the food and outside view looking at the pier. We sat inside, while most others were outside. It was quiet inside for dinner, and our service was very friendly and attentive. We were really well taken care of. I got the Carolina Burger. It was a bit saltier than I'd have liked, but it was also my first time trying pimento cheese. Overall, the six of us all said our meals were good, the service was great and we'd come back. This was the perfect place for dinner before a concert at the Reel cafe. We got there a little after 5, and we were able to get a parking spot in the lot nearby. We had no wait and were seated outside with a nice view of the river. I got the fried shrimp, which was very good, and the fries were nice and crispy. I would not recommend this restaurant. The hostess was very rude and walked off and left us and we ended up leaving and not eating at all. The food may be good. I don't know but they were not friendly or welcoming and it just seems that might set the tone for the whole meal. Ordered an app that came at the same time as our meal ( and not before like apps are supposed to), and we didn't eat because our meal was there so of course we ate that. We walked by this place on the River Walk last night and the outside seating area was super appealing with all the lights and people. We decided to go eat there today and the inside is clean and the staff was welcoming. We sat inside near the windows so we could enjoy the view and the cool air. Unfortunately, her "section" was right next to the speakers and the musician. However, the manager understood and allowed Lindsay to move us to the other side-making it much harder for her. We have been coming to Elijah's now for 6 years and what great meals we've enjoyed along with the superb ambience... We've been loyal patrons all of these years until now. It's all changed.. no shrimp bread.. no olive bread... no stuffed shrimp.. no fish and chips .. no spoon cake.. We were so disappointed once we looked the menu but since I had already ordered a glass of wine, we decided to give it a go. We ordered the only thing familiar still.. Baked Crab Dip. We couldn't believe our eyes when they brought to us! It changed from a beautifully presented baked crab dip with delicious toasts to a slapped in a bowl pile of yuck with a pull apart bread. On a positive note.. we ordered a cup of clam chowder which was good. I couldn't leave without saying something so we spoke with the manager and expressed our disappointment in the new menu and the new "vibe" So, for a $60 tab for crab appetizer with extra bread, cup of soup, and 2 drinks we walked away very sad. We've always bragged to everyone about Elijah's and we have always brought our company here and had it been today, we would have been embarrassed. But it was my husband's birthday today and we were really looking forward to a great meal and what was excitement turned into great disappointment real fast. We've always had our celebrations here so we are down that we lost our comfort place, our "go to" place with really great food and a really great view! Had a great experience here on Friday night. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I came here with my dog. The waitress was great and I ordered him chicken a side of chicken and he ate it. I came back tonight (Saturday) and ordered chicken for the dog again (and food/drink for myself) and it was put in with no problem. I fed him a couple pieces by hand and the older waitress came over yelling at me that I couldn't feed him. I said "are you kidding" and she raised her voice saying "no you absolutely cannot feed him", "you cannot do that", where I explained that I did the same thing yesterday with no issue. She said it was health department thing. The tone for someone in hospitality was unacceptable. I totally understand that, I've worked in restaurants for 10+ years but I have never had this issue and if she had said it politely it would have been a different story. Again, if it's a violation that's fine but I wasn't aware and none of my personal employers have told me this. She yelled at me to the point that the tables around me were looking around, making faces at me like "yikes" and staring at me making it awkward. My waitress, Nikki, was excellent, remembered my dog from the previous night and immediately came over with a box and apologized. I am visiting Wilmington by myself with my dog and was anxious about going to dinners alone. This experience heightened my anxiety. If you bring your pet, it should be a good experience but be wary if you plan to give your dog a snack. read more

It's a cool location and this place seems like it has a lot of potential.. We are visiting from out of town for a concert and thought we'd try a nice seafood spot on the boardwalk area. Service wasn't great but that's whatever-- truly my fish was inedible. I got the blackened flounder platter and I'm telling you this was SO SALTY. There were other flavors that wouldn't have been bad at all but the fact that the fish tasted like a salt lick was so overpowering I couldn't get it down. I think being able to get some Water (which we had to ask for a couple of times) would have made the experience better? The fries and slaw were good! (But definitely not worth 20 bucks.) I don't think I would recommend this place, maybe it's better on a weekend night? But I'm sure the wait would be longer in that case, so keep that in mind too. read more

First off, the outdoor patio was really large and we had a perfect day to sit outside along the waterfront. We started with a crab dip appetizer ($16) and it was pretty tasty - with perfectly toasted crostini. My bride ordered the Salmon BLT ($16) and said the fish was well prepared. My daughter ordered the Shrimp Scampi ($28) and loved it (generous qty of shrimp) and our son-in-law had the Mahi Fettuccine ($28) and said it was good. My grilled Mahi Fish Tacos ($18) were okay. They're perfect NC style cakes though, flavor is excellent and a family recipe according to the hostess. Got my cake on a sandwich but would probably opt to go bun-less next time. The coleslaw on the bun with the tartar sauce makes for a wet sandwich and the cake got lost. It was like eating a coleslaw sandwich. Coleslaw was good, I just found myself taking everything apart because I wanted the cake to be the star of the show!
