Before even arriving, there was a small but noticeable point of confusion. When I initially called the restaurant, I was told they were fully booked and didn't have availability until after 6:30. However, when we checked the Resy app shortly afterward, there were multiple openings available starting at 5:00 p.m. My wife was able to make a reservation for 6:00 without issue. We arrived a bit early and were seated promptly. Not a major problem, but there was a clear disconnect between what we were told on the phone and what was actually available. Once seated, we very much enjoyed the meal. The food was excellent across the board. We ordered smash burgers with fries, a Caesar salad, and oysters, and everything was well-prepared and delicious. Both of our mixed drinks were also very good. From a food and beverage standpoint, they're doing things right. Our server, Cameron, was excellent--attentive, professional, and personable throughout the meal. There were a couple of front-of-house issues that kept this from being a five-star experience. The pacing of the meal felt rushed, with courses arriving all at once rather than being properly spaced. There were also a few interactions involving the host that felt unprofessional. While we were speaking with another server, the host (Chris) interrupted to mention that she had a nine-top waiting, which felt awkward from a guest perspective. Later, when my wife was waiting for me at the front door while I used the restroom, she was asked where I was. When she replied that she was waiting for her husband, the comment back was that I was "probably in the bathroom taking pictures." That remark was unnecessary and inappropriate. A simple "How was your meal?" or "How was the service?" would have been far more fitting. I did share this feedback directly with the general manager, who was receptive and professional, which I appreciated. It's also worth noting that this is their first week open, and some growing pains are expected. This feedback is offered in a constructive spirit as the staff and management continue to settle in and build what has the potential to become a very successful business. I'm generally a "three strikes and you're out" kind of person, and this experience doesn't count as a strike at all. We'll absolutely return and look forward to seeing how things continue to come together. I look forward to a 5 star review next visit

Absolutely beautiful coastal looking restaurant. The menu is small but the food is amazing. The service was top notch. I had a cheeseburger that was delicious. My husband and daughter had the fried chicken and said it was the best fried chicken they have had in a long time. I will definitely return.

Made a reservation through the phone for a Monday night for intially 10 people, which ended being a table for 6. We received complimentary spiced muffins, which I did not eat this time around. They had specials for the night, including grilled oysters and sausage and truffle macaroni and cheese. The fresh catch of the night was North Carolina red drum in a pastry seasoned with a smoky Mediterranean spice and served with housemade white bean hummus, nut-free pesto, sweet potato, other veggies, etc. I ended up ordering the Grilled salmon entree, which was great. Salmon was seared with a nice crispy exterior. The hoppin john with bacon was deliciously salty. The whole dish with carrot mole and sweet grapefruit gastrique surrounding the entree blended well together. We shared the cinnamon sugar coated beignet dessert with melted caramel and chocolate sauces, which was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. They were like donut holes. I could stuff many of those in my face- they were addictive. Our waitress was great, patient, friendly, and polite. Thanks for another great night Sounder!

Britney's suggestions for the Pork Shank and the Octopus were right on as well. Can't say enough about how amazing that meal was. Finally a note about the team as a whole: it was obvious that Britney had most of the tables, but every person on tonight pulled together and worked as a team to make sure the food got out hot and on time and no one was sitting too long at any point in their meal! Of note - make a reservation!! We should have - not because it took long to be seated, it didn't. But we know better, reservations help restaurants know how to staff and otherwise prepare. We promise to make a reservation next time - because there will definitely be a next time. Our crew has even already decided what they will order next time! THANK YOU for a phenomenal experience!!

We were there around 2pm and concerned because when we arrived there weren't many cars in the parking lot. What we didn't know was the service we were provided was basically one on one. We ordered the Birria Bao Buns which were fab and while waiting on our food we had a conversation about my love of Charro beans and their preparation and cooking process , It's a lengthy task.. The waiter returned with our food and a sample of the beans at which time I had to have a bowl. Now let's talk about the restaurants vibe. This place is beautiful. It's large and airy . Absolutely breathtaking, even the bathroom was quite appealing to the eye. In my opinion a linen napkin provides so much class to a dining experience and theirs aren't just plain white.,They are a beautiful blue. They really put a lot of thought into the overall decor of their dining experience and it shows. Bravo!

When we've come with friends or larger groups, the service has been much more mediocre. The first time we visited, one of the waitresses was surprisingly rude when I asked about vegetarian options. All she said was "salad," despite there being multiple salads (2 out of the 3) on the menu, including a Caesar with anchovy and a wedge salad with bacon. Thankfully, another staff member stepped in and was much more helpful and respectful. I'm not sure why vegetarian requests are sometimes treated like an inconvenience or unusual concept. I'm married to a huge meat eater and enjoy going to places he likes, but I do wish vegetarian guests were met with a little more patience and understanding. Especially when I am the one paying the bill. The atmosphere is loud and busy, but they are generally accommodating. For larger parties, they require a credit card to hold the reservation and give a limited grace period, with a fee of around $15 per person for no-shows. I understand why restaurants have policies like this, but it felt a little unfair considering we still had to wait around 15-20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. If guests are expected to strictly follow time slots, I think the restaurant should also try to hold themselves to those same standards. It also took close to two hours for our food to come out, and we repeatedly had to ask for smaller things like water or hot sauce. I completely understand that larger parties can take longer, but we were a group of seven, which didn't seem unusually large. Overall, the food and atmosphere keep us coming back, but the consistency in service could definitely be improved.

The culmination was a lovely sun kissed luncheon on the Crystal Pier seated where we could catch the breezes and see the rolling surf. Having grown up in Wilmington, I was blessed to have the delightful experience of enjoying freshly caught fish lovingly and skillfully prepared by my mother. It has been years since I've truly enjoyed fish. On Saturday, my lunch choice was the Fresh Catch which was locally caught Sea Bass, hand cut and pan seared. It was seasoned to perfection with just the briefest dash of salt and spices and lightly browned by the pan searing. It was served with grilled asparagus and a bed of rice with an elegant white sauce. I don't know when I've enjoyed a meal so much. The lovely end to the meal came with a tempting and delicious slice of Key Lime Pie. Vera G.

Well, this is where things fell short. As we walked in, we had 4 adults and 2 kids, under 3. We came in to celebrate my mom's birthday. The hostess took a look at us, and instantly looked irritated. Like ugh where am I going to sit these people. She didn't know where to sit us and asked the manager. She was absolutely rude, didn't even acknowledge our presence and also just looked irritated. My mom asked about a specific larger table and the gal rudely said we keep that for 8 tops. Okay fine. No problem. So they out two - two top tables together and sat us there. Very tight, but we made it work. It just made us feel unwelcome. Even better, right after they sat 4 adults with two kids at the table we requested. Luckily, our waitress Jasmine was WONDERFUL and so kind. She helped turn the evening around and made it less awkward. That's why we kept 4 stars instead of 3.
