This is hub's place to take his newly purchased pants to shorten. He's been going here for years. He dropped us off at Shige's and went here. By the time the food was coming out he had found parking just in time for his meal. He was quoted the pants would be ready in a week. Unfortunately he needs to wear it to his friend's funeral off island. He told the tailor his predicament and was granted one day earlier to come back to pick up his pants. Great service as always. I only frequent this shop when I need my service uniform ready and they get it done with a great price. I got my service coat, skirt and blouse all dry cleaned for $32. This is my automatic go to place for clothes alternations, mostly hemming. When I first starting bringing my clothes here, the costs for a basic hem was only $10. Since the pandemic, the price has increased to $18. What I appreciate about this place, is their convenient hours, the quality of work, and quick service which I've been able to depend on. **Breaking news!** As I was working on a review, I had a wardrobe malfunction! I purchased a shirt to wear for Pride, but was dismayed to find a hole in the side seam just an hour before I was supposed to meet my friends for the event. Luckily, I was close by El'gant, so I rushed over to see if anything could be done. Although the ladies who work the sewing machines weren't in yet, one of the other employees hand stitched it for me for only $3. Definitely worth it for a last-second fix! We will now return you to the original review I was writing. :) I've been taking items for alterations and dry cleaning to this place for 10+ years now. Even though I know I could probably find a place that's closer to my home or work, I would rather drive across the island to know that everything is being done right. This is especially true for the specialty alterations I've needed over the years. They've always done a great job and the prices have been extremely fair for what I've needed to have done. They have always completed the work on time and I've been very pleased with how everything looks. I've also been happy with doing my dry cleaning there, even when I've procrastinated and needed to get a rush order. Parking is around the corner from the front of the building (by the nail salon) and usually you can find at least one space outside of the lunchtime rush in the area. They now close every Sunday and it does help to call ahead of time if you need alterations or a rush job, just to be sure they can accommodate you. read more

I've seen them but never thought I would try because of the sign outside .... I'm so dumb I should have tired them earlier !!! Inside the shop is clean and big ! Asked them to fix my dress pants. They have a fitting room and a friendly nice stuff working there helped fitting and checked the right length ! 2 wide pants cost only $26 ( before tax) Very affordable and professional job ! Also very fast it took only 1 week !! I am so glad I tried them and I will totally come back !!! Thank you so much . This is a small shop located on a busy street. One side is drop off, then you go to another building across the street for pick up. Their parking is situated behind their building with only a handful of spots, don't expect to get a spot especially around rush hour. I took in a dress for my toddler flower girl to be altered and dry cleaned. I marked where the dress needed to be hemmed and straps shortened. I told them I needed it back in a week. The alterations guy and the cashier were jotting things down and said OK OK OK OK... Doesn't that reassure one that they are listening?? I went across the street on the day it should've been ready. And they couldn't find the dress!! What?? !! It's so hard to find a toddler flower girl dress that matches the other bridal party. They said to come back the next day. The next day, I was steaming mad. Where's the dress?? They said it was still across the street. SO I went across the street and they said they didnt know what needed to be done with it, so they didnt do anything with it. Well, why didn't they call me?? And I talked to the same person I spoke to a few days before. The same person! Then she wanted to tell me she wouldnt have it ready till the following week. Ummm, hello?? NO LADY, this is your fault, you shouldve called instead of let it sit in your shop for days without any work done to it...you put a rush on it, I need it tomorrow night. She huffs and puffs and finally says ok. Outcome: The dress was altered, but the dry cleaning did not take out the spots on the dress. And they only offered a $5 discount on their error--- my total bill came out to $39. I received the dress 3 days after the original due date. I will Never ever come back here. read more

Small alterations shop located on Kamehameha Highway in Wahiawa... right next to Maui Mike's and across from Olive Cafe. I've never had an issue with the staff as they are always friendly and accommodating. Avoid going during lunch as everyone from Schofield is on lunch and dropping off/picking up items... PLUS everyone is buying food so there is traffic and barely any parking. I try to go in the AM or an hour before closing when it's not so busy. $7 to hem jeans is quite reasonable and they do a GREAT JOB. You can tell they are experienced. You can either bring in the pants knowing what length you want or they have a dressing room where you can try it on and they will assist you with the length and add pins to know where you want the length. I'm not sure if they offer same day service as I've always had to wait a minimum of 4 days as they are quite busy but I've never been in a rush. I've also dropped off shorts (for my boyfriend) to replace the zipper and I believe that was $12 and they did a great job as well. They accept cash and credit cards. Great place! read more

In February 2014 I took a uniform shirt to this shop in Wahiawa - because the zipper pull had come off my uniform shirt. The worker looked at it and said $3.50 - Be ready next week Wednesday- pick up at Alberts Dry Cleaners. Come Wednesday -I go to Alberts - but they can't find the shirt. They call over to E'lgant - and after a long time say they have to replace the entire zipper and now it will cost $20.00 and another week to complete! Wwwhhaaat??!! I need my shirt and they have me over a barrel -okay do it. After a week I go back and pick up my shirt. I try to put it on at work - and the zipper is sewn on the opposite side - now the pull is on the left - it still works - but damn - really? Don't plan to go back or recommend this company!! Also Alberts Dry Cleaners just raised their prices by a dollar more a garment. read more

I've used El'gant Alterations about 2-3 times in the past and didn't have any problems. My last visit, however, was possibly the worst customer service experience I've ever had. A sewing job on some slacks had come undone in about a week, so I took them back. I smiled, said hello to the lady, and explained what happened. When I asked if the pants could be fixed, the lady simply picked them up and walked to the back without a word. When she walked back to the front about 3-4 minutes later, she gave me a very dirty look. Instead of handing the slacks back to me, she tossed them onto the counter. Again, without a word, she turned around and walked to the back. Not even a "thank you" or "sorry about that" or "here you go." I wasn't sure what had just happened and waited for a minute before leaving. While the new sewing job seems to be good, I won't ever be going back. That kind of behavior directed towards paying customers is inexcusable. read more

I have had good experiences with El'Gant in the past until today. I put in an alteration and dry cleaning order on Tuesday to be picked up on Thursday. I called on Thursday to see what time I should come in. I was told 4. I came in at 4 and I was told 5. I came in at 5 and I was told that though they are scheduled to close at 6, the day before they didn't get the dry cleaning items back until 7. I would have appreciated it more if I had been told on Tuesday that they couldn't have it done by Thursday, or at least when I called the day of to be given an accurate time quote. Why tell me 4 if the more likely time was 7? I spent hours in the parking lot because I had to have the items. read more

After reading the great review here on yelp, I decided to take my wedding dress to the shop-it is right on Kam and pretty easy to find. I told the women there what my dress needed-for it to be taken out in the chest area. I tried it on it the dressing room they provided (which I thought was great) and showed it to them. This is when the trouble started. Through very, very broken English they told me that they couldn't take my dress out with the fabric I had, but that they could "create" a back to it. Having a hard time understanding them, I asked them to draw me a picture of what she meant. She said she would add matching fabric no problem, and it would be ready in two weeks. I was very happy about this prospect, and gingerly gave my wedding dress over to them. About a week later I got a call from them, although I could not for the life of me understand what they were saying. I asked her to repeat it 3 times, and I still could not understand it. I even asked my coworkers who spoke Philipino (the owners first dialect) to talk to them and help me understand, but to no avail. Figuring they were just telling me my dress was ready, I went in a few days later. They brought my dress to me and told me in very very accented English that they hadn't done anything to my dress because "fabric needed. You get" Huh? I asked her to repeat to make sure I heard her. She again told me, they hadn't done anything to my dress because they needed fabric, which I was supposed to supply. Isn't the reason I went to them so they could alter it, how am I supposed to know what fabric to get, how long to get, etc? I thought that is part of what I was paying them for? By this time 2 weeks had past and I was days away from flying to the mainland with my dress...which was supposed to be done with. Thankfully I have time before my wedding to have it altered, but I really, really, want to advise against this shop. If you just need an easy fix-then maybe. But for anything beyond the basic, avoid this place like the plauge. read more

I would actually give this place negative. I just brought them a Letterman jacket with white sleeves for embroidery yesterday. When I picked it up, it had pen markings on the sleeve. The lady in the front said she didnt do that, but when I dropped it off, it never had those on the sleeve. HORRIBLE! I do not recommend this place at all. read more

The alterations lady was very helpful but I was very disappointed with the manager that is in charge of the dry cleaning/store. So last week I took my uniforms so I can have alterations and dry cleaned. Lady said everything will be ready by this past Saturday. I had too much stuff going on so I decided to pick up my uniforms today on my lunch break, so I get there and the manager says "OH". So I'm liked what do you mean, "Oh"?? He said we lost your 2 shirts and I was supposed to call you on Saturday. Never got a call and jokingly he said, "well I couldn't do a lot of things that's not work related". Yet you can't call for the courtesy to let me know my shirts were missing?? WTH... then he says give me until Wednesday to look for it, and I'm like what??? Here I am coming on my own time or my lunch break from Kapolei and you have the nerve to tell me give you folks to Wednesday and if we don't find it, I need to pick up 2 new shirt for you folks to dry clean when I need this by this week. He's like we'll reimburse you for your shirts, not knowing now I got to go out again on my own time to get these 2 shirts for them to dry clean. He should be paying for my gas too! He was very unprofessional and kept joking around. I have always gone to them, but this is the first this has ever happen and I got these rude remarks from the manager! read more

I always choose El'gant Alterations for my altering, tailoring, and dry cleaning needs. Their prices are reasonable and cheaper than those at the Navy Uniform Center at Pearl Harbor. Though they are not associated with the military, they know military uniform standards very well and every one of my patches have always conformed to the guidelines.
