Lets just say I have a lot of credit to burn through with BP but now thinking about it, its not a…read morebad thing honestly as BP has many locations across the country. I was up in Seattle for work and came in one evening to climb while in town. I was doing a bunch of other things and didnt get in to climb until about 10 before 9pm. That gave me only 1 hour 10 min to climb. I wish they stayed open to 11pm as there were still a bunch of people here climbing close to the end! One of my gripes with BP is that they make you complete a liability waiver at each BP location you go to so that gets pretty annoying. Ive been to the BP in Brooklyn (not my favorite), Tempe, DC (pretty good), SLC (huge space and great to climb) and now here at this location and each time, had to complete the waiver. This purely bouldering gym is great. I like that the entire gym is for bouldering and no need to share with climbers on rope. Nothing against them, just like a bouldering only gym. So much stuff to climb here as there are two floors for bouldering. The routes are a bit easier than other BPs but still very fun. They also have sauna and cold plunge here but didnt get to try it. I will be back next time to check this out! There is street parking here, so while not the best parking, its not too bad. Day passes are $30 so not cheap but pretty worth it. Next time I plan to stay here for awhile. Great climbing experience here and an hour was not enough, I need like 2 or 3 hours honestly. Ill be back again when Im in town!

This gym has lots of great climbing walls and solid amenities. They also offer fitness and climbing…read moreclasses, which is nice if you want to mix things up. It's a little smaller than some other SBP locations I've been to, but it still gets the job done. The climbing community here is awesome too.

We were in Seattle for a work trip, visiting the lochs next door, when my four-year-old and…read moreten-year-old decided they needed to climb something. This is generally their position on everything, including furniture we're still paying for. It was about 8 p.m. Neither kid had ever been to a climbing gym. We walked in with no equipment, no plan, and the vague confidence of people who hadn't thought this through. "Hey, my kid wants to climb," I announced, apparently believing this covered the necessary introductions. Enter Lana. Some people can make you feel welcome. Lana can make you feel like she's been expecting your family all evening and is delighted you finally made it. She immediately reassured us that they loved having first-timers and that the kids would have a great time. Day passes, simple waiver, climbing shoes. Within about five minutes, our children were on a wall. I've spent longer trying to get them out of the car. When Lana noticed they wanted to climb beyond the bouldering limit, she offered to get them into harnesses so they could try the taller walls with ropes. She's an instructor, and it showed. Engaging, patient, informative, and so genuinely enthusiastic that my usual parental role of imagining every possible disaster briefly became unnecessary. Both kids made it all the way to the top. They were laughing and having an absolute blast. We had walked in wondering whether we even belonged there and somehow ended up watching our four-year-old ascend a building. What really stayed with me was how easy Lana made the whole experience. Walking into an unfamiliar activity with two kids can feel like arriving at a dinner party where everyone knows the rules except you. She took away every bit of that awkwardness immediately. Liam, who helped us at the end, was wonderful too. Everyone we spoke with was warm and welcoming. The staff here deserves every bit of praise we can give them. If you're new to climbing, especially with kids, go in and ask for Lana. This was one of the most unexpectedly wonderful experiences we've had as a family, and we'll absolutely be back when we're in Seattle. We came to look at the lochs. Apparently, we were supposed to climb the walls!

Great, local, no-frills bouldering gym in Tacoma. My husband and I moved from the Bay Area to…read moreSeattle and have been checking out the local bouldering scene in the PNW - Climb Tacoma has been one of our favorite gyms to check out on a day pass since it's near my parents. FACILITIES For bouldering? Wide variety of routes for different levels and technical focus. For example, a lot of bouldering gyms we've been to have their routes go vertical to fit more climbing onto a set of panels. I like that Climb Tacoma has options where a route might go across, so I get to practice different climbing techniques. Some routes exercise grip strength, others may be more core or balance focused. It makes the experience more fun and rewarding when you complete the beta. I've only been climbing actively for a little over 7 months and can climb up to V2 routes; my husband can climb up to V5/V6. Climb Tacoma has been great because we're both able to keep busy with how many routes there are. There's even a small area for kids to practice climbing and a fun spray wall to test different holds. My only complaint with their bouldering is that their labeling system can be very confusing - you need to look at the tape color to indicate difficulty... not the color of the hold. For exercising? It's lacking - a very small fitness / workout area with little equipment compared to other climbing gyms in the area. I would say comparable to small fitness centers you get in hotels. That said... I don't come here for that, I come to boulder. LOCATION + PARKING Location is off S 38th ST so really close to Tacoma Mall or the Vietnamese area of S 38th ST... making it pretty convenient for finding food after a climbing session. In terms of crowds, it's never been a problem coming here on the weekends, the day before a holiday, or in the middle of a weekday (ex/ for their Monday special for "Femmes and Themes". Their parking seems a bit small but it's never been an issue for us as we're always able to find a spot. OVERALL Coming from the Bay Area, I appreciate how chill this climbing gym. It doesn't play loud music, people are respectful when it comes to climbing and there aren't "influencer" or gym bro vibea you get from Silicon Valley / SF gyms. If you are looking for a high end gym with the works like towel service, saunas, yoga classes, etc... then I would suggest looking elsewhere. If you're just looking to boulder in the area, this gym is great for that with extremely fair pricing. Other climbing gyms, pricing is understandably higher because there may rope courses with higher overhead. I like that what I pay here is for bouldering... and there are lots of options to choose from. Make sure to check their site for specials like Half Price First Fridays or the $15 "Femmes and Thems" discount (rentals included)!

I am used to the service from a climbing gym back in California, and there, they offer really good hospitality throughout your visit there...not just when you enter the doors to sign in. I will say that the front desk staff was indeed considerate when dealing with the finances so that people who qualify for the discount (i.e. healthcare worker, first responder, student, etc.) were covered. cute ping pong table to rest from the climbing and very clean bathroom. would be nice to have paper towels to really wipe off the chalk, though. wishing health and wellness for those who choose to climb! lots of kids here, too, so this is a cool family bonding activity for y'all to do, if you are into that

One month in to the new Summit Everett so it's time for a review!…read more First off I'd like to say that I am very happy Summit Everett is here and I'll be continuing my membership with them for the foreseeable future. Opening a rock gym in downtown Everett is not an easy venture and it's very cool that it exists. The facility is very nice. It is clean, well lit, in good order and with 24hr access it's got all the right stuff to make a gym attractive. Whether you are climbing or using the regular weights and treadmill its a very good space. Since their move they transitioned to just bouldering from both bouldering and top rope and I think this was a good move. It makes the walls in the gym more accessible to everyone and can introduce more people to climbing. I won't call bouldering an intro to top rope like some folks but it is easier to get into and I think this switch was the right move. So what could be improved? A quick note about me so you can tell where I'm coming from. I'm at Summit for the rock walls and haven't used the weights or tread mills. I'm a climber since I was young and have an ankle handicap since birth. This means I'm about a 5.12-/v5 climber and won't excel too much beyond that. Including Summit Everett I have climbed four gyms in the PNW both bouldering and ropes and those skill levels are pretty consistent. At Summit I cap at a v4, somewhere between their yellow and blue bands. Summit sets hard. This makes it a very difficult place for beginners. The Vermin scale has a lot of wiggle room so it isn't that they aren't setting according to scale it's that within the scale they set about as hard as they can. You will not find a VB route here. If you are coming from anywhere else in the area kick your climbing level down a notch. My experience is that Summit is also largely a test of physical prowess. Technique and problems solving are not as stressed. The routes meet their difficulty level based on whether you have the strength for a dynamic movement, can grip a hold, or have the reach to progress. I have yet to fail to complete a route at because I didn't think through it correctly or didn't have the technique. These challenges are as important to a skilled climber as the raw physical. Lastly, more wall space. The more options to climb the better. The weekly updates are good but more options would be awesome. This is a big ask for the recently reopened gym so I realize this likely isn't something that can be quickly fixed but I wanted to put it out there because I think it would be very beneficial. Overall, I'm very happy that. Summit Everett is here and I'm looking forward to my time there and seeing the gym grow! Thank you Summit!

I can't speak on the climbing part of the gym, but the gym itself isn't worth it. The parking is…read moreatrocious, there is hardly any gym equipment, and the bathroom situation is pretty ridiculous. Thanks for the small roll of medical tape as a "check in reward" though.
