Our Hiking Adventure! Great place to go hiking. Just make sure you know where your going before you venture in. Otherwise you'll find yourself on a 3 1/2 hour hike. Totally worth it though. Blister and everything.

Awesome hike!! My son and I had a great time. Free parking. I purchased the discover pass $33 (online) for an annual pass to all state parks. (Totally worth it) I recommend going to the bathroom at home. (Clean-ish, but totally smelly) But no one goes to a state park to use the restroom.

Beautiful hike located in Bremerton. We started at the Wildcat Trail entrance but I think we should have gone to the Gold Creek Trail entrance instead because it appears to be closer to the vista. The terrain was mostly flat the first 10-15 minutes and then was uphill the rest of the way. Not a hike for beginners. Lots of shade and wooded terrain. We went on a Friday morning in the summer and didn't see a single hiker outside our group. There are lots of trails to meander through and not clear markers so have a phone or map to keep track of where you are. Also have a discover pass for WA state parks. Restroom located at the trail entrance.

    Top of the mtn!

Summer quarter 1985 as a ferry commuter. Lots of fun crossing it with a scooter when it was much narrower. And tomorrow marks the third year of my late father's passing. We rented a boat from Port Orchard that enabled a family memorial service to scatter his remains near the renovated Manette Bridge. It was his wish to be able to see the ferries and the Naval Base Kitsap (or as we knew it as Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, moved to Bremerton back in 1973). Hey Dad, now you're on Yelp! One my biggest culinary influences, seems fitting to write this post tonight (6/26/18).

Manette retains it's own identity even so, which isn't nearly as low class as the main city. Manette strives to be attractive and a mite upscale and mainly succeeds, but nothing pretentious, a comfortable village feeling to it all. The bridge has been rebuilt a couple of times so despite that it dates to 1930 today's bridge is not old (rebuilt in 2012), but it still has a rustic feeling to it. It used to be scary to walk across but now has a pedestrian walkway deserving of the name.

That time went by in what felt like 5 minutes. The self guided tour is extensive and there's a lot to see. It was wonderful being free to explore and sit in the officer's mess and just look around and imagine the history that was discussed there and walking through the engine room imagining listening to the whir of the machinery while the ship was underway and looking at where these brave sailors slept and imagining what their day was like. I got to speak to a docent that was a gunner and he shared his knowledge and some great stories. It was truly an honor to meet him! We plan on returning, earlier next time, to properly explore this wonderful ship and piece of history. Very highly recommended!

The manager with short hair was incredibly rude and unprofessional from the moment we walked in. She was snippy with customers, showed zero friendliness, and acted like she didn't want to be there. She loudly complained to her staff about needing to leave early and made the whole environment uncomfortable. When we were standing in line--well out of the way--she abruptly told us to "get out of the way" so she could move the golf cart, even though we were already several feet back. Inside the shop, she threw items onto the counter when we asked to look at them, and when we decided to purchase something, she snatched it out of our hand. The ship itself is great and the tour was wonderful, but the gift shop manager is seriously hurting the experience. She needs retraining--or replacement--because her attitude is unacceptable for a public-facing role.
