I was worried at first about injuries due to my age and because I work with my hands and body (I'm a farmer) and my wife (a purple belt) has been injured numerous times at other gyms. However, all the people I've trained with here so far seem very safety focused and concerned about the well-being of their teammates. Lots of folks here compete but are mostly very supportive of those of us who have no desire to compete and are just here to learn. No talk of politics thus far, which is so nice in this day and age; just group jiu jitsu therapy.

Had a phenomenal time and here's why: The schedule: there's class availability every day of the week; both AM and PM. The facility: lots of CLEAN and SANITIZED mat space. Changing rooms, restrooms, and seating area are organized, clean, and accommodating. Everything is well-lit and parking is no issue. I'm not from here, but the location isn't hard to get to either. The instructors: This is where this place excels. Top-notch, certified professionals! I primarily received training from Coach Jamie; but also interacted with Coaches Steve and Nate as well. These guys are professional, well-spoken, and knowledgeable. They have a keen eye for keeping an eye on technique, ensuring everyone is SAFE, and fostering an environment where everyone is having fun and learning. Though they specialize and are certified in the Gracie curriculum, they have an extensive background in other disciplines and athletic specialties that further enhance the quality of the product they deliver. The vibe: The most important part. There's a reason why this CTC has a comprehensive schedule--to accommodate all of the students big, small, young, and old from all walks of life that love coming here to learn. Students with prior experience, or without, can come here knowing that they will learn SAFELY and be intentionally paired with a partner that ensures they're learning at an appropriate pace. There is no "sink or swim"--this is controlled, methodical learning for all experience levels. All of the students and instructors I met were genuine and made me feel at home. If you're a beginner--expect to get right into it! Expect to learn safely and be welcomed into the family. Expect to fall in love with the art that will build relationships, challenge you, and most importantly--may save you or your loved ones' lives some day. If you're already in the curriculum or have experience--expect the standard curriculum, but expect to walk away with much more experience than that. The level of detail and knowledge here will change your game. An important distinction for me is learning self defense safely versus learning competition jiu jitsu, which is where I believe the injury risk goes up. I personally know many prior "competitors" that have moved over to the more controlled Gracie curriculum. 10/10 WILL definitely return to this location when I am back in town. If you're on the fence, don't think--just do! It will change your life like it did for my children and I! Renee and Ryon--you have a winning team at this CTC!

This is one of the most welcoming and positive communities we have ever been part of. Everyone is supportive and wants everyone to grow and get better together. The professor is really takes the time to teach the techniques not just for sport, but for self defense. A lot of juijitsu gyms will have you grappling on day one, and this can lead to injury. Here you learn the techniques first and get to grow into grappling over time. Cortes BJJ has caused my back pain to decrease and go away. My son has gained so much more confidence and self control.
