I've been to this nail salon twice before, and both times, they did a great job on my nails. This review isn't about the quality of their work, which I've been happy with -- it's about a policy I wasn't made aware of when I booked my latest appointment. I'm a grown responsible adult who keeps a calendar and I fully intended to be at my appointment. My two previous appointments were made same-day, so I never encountered this issue. However, for my third visit, I scheduled in advance for a 9:00 AM appointment. The salon texted me at 8:08 AM to confirm. I was in the shower getting ready and didn't see the message. By the time I got in my car, and my phone synced, I had four texts and a missed call. When I didn't respond by 8:30 AM -- not even 30 minutes later -- they canceled my appointment. I called to explain, and the owner stood by her policy. She said the confirmation texts go out at the same time for everyone the day of the appointment. She said they've never had a problem doing it that way. I understand businesses have their systems, but as a customer, I would have appreciated being told in advance that I'd need to respond to a text within such a tight window or risk losing my spot. I can't think of another professional business -- whether a hair salon, doctor's office, restaurant, or otherwise -- that expects confirmation within 20-30 minutes on the day of the appointment, especially without prior notice. Most give you at least 24 hours, or send multiple reminders with more flexibility. I share this not to criticize their work, but to give a heads-up to anyone considering booking here: make sure you're watching your phone closely the morning of, or your appointment might be gone before you even have a chance to respond. read more

Pahoua did such a great job! I got a toe polish change and acrylic overlay on my natural nails with gel polish on top. She turned my nubs to look like actual toes and fingers aha! I LOVE NY NAILS! I live down the street and finally decided to try them out! I haven't had my nails or toes done in a year so felt it was beyond needed. She did an awesome job on my nails I just said I wanted coffin whit ombré..beautiful and ladies were super nice! The pedicure....yeaaa it was okay. I won't be back here for another one. I have cracks on my heels is the main reason I went and she barely worked with my calluses even on my big toe they're still there. Oh yea and it was 118$ plus tip (I gave 20% on top of this, cause I respect the service industry). read more

Had high hopes for this nail salon with all these great reviews but my nails did not last & I had to get them removed by my nail tech back home. I went back twice. Not to mention I was there for 5 hours!!! I got a pedi & a full set. (Gel polish & colored acrylic) first time the top coat got real sticky and had a bunch of bumps in it so I had that fixed, the next day I notice my hair getting caught it my nail ? I look and my pinky nail was nearly off, I was so sad because the set was BEAUTIFUL, just too thick an not applied correctly? When I walked in I was so surprised but how cute the decor was- normally places I go to are so basic and blandly decorated so that was a happy change to see! The girl who did my pedicure was very friendly and paid super close attention to detail. I went to Elena Nails Bar to get my nails done. I requested gel nails because that's what I always get when I go to a nail salon. I sit down, and the guy puts something clear on my nails and has me stick it in the gel machine. I was confused because it was super thick. I don't know much about nails, so I didn't know to question it. I notice that my nails start burning and I am in pain. The guy starts to berate me for not pulling my nails out of the machine before it got too hot, but I had never had gel burn my nails like that before. Turns out I was getting liquid gel or hard gel on my nails, which I didn't want. I just wanted the basic gel polish I always get. The guy said I was lucky to be getting it, and I need to come back and get fill ins from them since "no one else around does this service" a service I never wanted or requested. He said that I should have specified I wanted gel polish but I didn't even know there was two types of gel. I felt very duped and scammed. It's almost like they do this, so you have to come back to them to get the fill ins even though they are lying because you can get the service anywhere by request (not by default like this place). I just wanted the basic gel nail that I normally get, and I had no idea that this liquid gel existed. I am now stuck with it until it grows out, and it looks ridiculous. The only good thing about it is that it doesn't chip, but you also can't get it off without tearing off several layers of your nail with it. If you do make the decision to go there, make sure you question what you are getting from the beginning, or you may get stuck with something you don't want for 30$ more than you expected. (Thought I was gonna spend 30$ with tip and ended up spending $60 with tip on a set of nails I didn't want and will be stuck with in some capacity for 3 months while I let them grow all the way out.) read more
