Been a client for yrs..use the same person every month for 3 plus yrs and on an important day I went to my appt and they tried to give me to someone else and when I said no I was told I needed to come. I was polite and understood she was double booked ..I came back a few hrs later and was told I needed to come back that the person I only use was booked. why wasn't the other person who was booked pushed to someone else like they tried to do to me... I booked her 3 days in advance..a call or text would have stopped this review but because they were unprofessional, unreliable and cause me to go to an event with undone and broken nails I am never recommending them to anyone and I have recommended them to everyone. It's not the end of the world but when you rely on someone to give a service and you are left looking a mess..it's upsetting. read more

I am a regular customer at this salon. The owner is great. Does a good job of accommodating my busy work schedule. Any time I call, he knows my name by my voice. Linda is the best nail tech! I get the dip powder and they usually last 3+ weeks. I work at a computer rather than a physical job which helps mine last longer. Most of the time I don't even "pick out my color". lol I just say I want plain. Or, I want festive. Or, I'm going to a wedding and this is what I'm wearing. Not going to lie, after reading the some of the previous reviews, I was a little worried about getting my nails done here. But a friend gave me a gift card so I thought...might as well ‍. It was a very pleasant experience. Yes, they were a bit understaffed (the entire country is right now) and they were having a problem with their computer system but I never felt like I was being ignored. Everyone was very friendly and professional. They have a wide range of services and nail polish colors. I only give the salon 4 stars instead of 5 because my nails needed cleaning up a bit after (see picture below), however, it was not something that I noticed until right after I left the salon. It was also a little bit more expensive than I'm used to. $45 (not including tip, ALWAYS TIP) for a full set of acrylic nails with gel polish (not a manicure, just the nails and polish). The discrepancy might be due to the fact that I'm used to get in South Carolina where the cost of living is lower. A few tips: Arrive early or make an appointment. I did not make an appointment and I didn't wait long, however, I arrived when the salon opened at 9:30am. By the time I was leaving, it was pretty busy. Also, don't go to the salon (or any salon really) if you're on a serious time crunch. Getting your nails done is supposed to be a relaxing experience and you need to account for the salon being busy or understaffed. Overall, lovely experience. Just left after sitting and soaking my feet for over an hour! Needless to say they are prunes! I was told it would be 20 minutes when I was sat down to soak. 15 minutes ago I was asked which pedicure I wanted and then never saw the guy again. Went in for a Pedi and selected the basic for $28. The nail tech was very nice but I was extremely disappointed in the fact she only spent about 20 seconds scrubbing each foot. When I inquired how to get more of the dead skin off my feet she told me I needed to do the Callus scrub which is $37. What a total crock! I could have scrubbed off more dead skin doing it myself at home and did not have calluses on my feet. This salon is all about turning and burning clients and has really gone downhill over the past 6 months, just look at their reviews and that says it all. Their dip powder is terrible and does not last more than a week and their basic pedi is a waste of money. Mixed feelings about this salon. I came for a gel mani and regular pedi & left extremely irritated. For starters, I felt rushed when trying to pick out a color when I had a very specific one in mind because I didn't want it to be too similar to what I already had on my hands for about a month. I rushed and picked out a color that I thought I would like and sat down in a pedicure chair that is completely falling a part. Then was told sorry we can't find that color so I was given basically a basket of four different color options that I had already discarded in my initial search to have to settle on. I decided it wasn't worth wasting their time on & settled on a new color. For the pedi I wanted the most basic on the menu which was listed for $25 and asked if it came with a massage because it wasn't listed & that's something I will pay extra for but she said I would need the "callus pedi" for $35 and I said no, I'm not worried about calluses I take care of my feet I basically just need them painted with a massage but that response was ignored so I thought whatever the basic is fine. Moving onto my manicure I asked for the color to match my toes & my fingers even though during the pedicure the color looked a bit darker and more purple than I was going for I didn't mind because it wasn't red like what I had and trying to get away from. I also thought my hands will prob be a bit lighter since the gel and regular polish don't ever exactly match. I will say the technician did a great job with her technique in painting, cuticles, shaping. This is where I struggle to give a bad review fully. However, the color was so far off from what I saw on the sample and way far off from what my toes look like. I could tell she hesitated and even checked the bottle because to her it was way more red than it was supposed to be as well but instead of making a comment or seeing if I wanted to make a change in the first coat she just carried on and painted my nails basically the exact same color I walked in with - so super irritating. I didn't say anything because I was expecting with each coat applied that the color would somehow change to what it was supposed to look like. At the end, I didn't ask her to change it because this wasn't her fault she picked the bottle with the number that I had picked out and for whatever reason it's just way off from the shade it should be. So, at the time of checking out I noticed my pedicure was marked as $35 and decided well, I know for certain I picked the cheaper one at 25 and asked them to adjust it when I got to the register. Instead of honoring the price on the menu I was told that the prices had increased after Covid and they just hadn't updated their menu. So that's my fault as a consumer that you don't have attention to detail with your services? It's been 4 years since Covid!! So now I'm stuck paying $10 more for something without my consent and I'm leaving with the wrong color selection. This is more of a message to the salon to do better with your customer service and integrity to have people leaving satisfied if you want people to come back. Even a five dollar off gesture would've meant something, but I was told that the menu just hasn't been updated and yeah sometimes the gel and the regular polish colors are a bit different. I've been getting my nails done for decades, I know the difference between regular polish and gel which was why I waited to see how it was going to turn out in hopes it was just a curing thing. For me I won't be back. I don't expect much luxury when I go to nail salons but I do expect to leave liking my nails or that I got what I paid for and today was not that day. read more

I've been going to Pure Lux for about 3 years now. The owner, Phillip, is very good at keeping order and making sure people are happy. I've only had one bad pedicure and that women didn't know how to get gel off my toes, but Phillip offered to make it right. Most of the bad technicians have left and only good ones remain. I get dip powder every time and they last a month. Sam did my last pedicure and it was great. In response to another review, that timer is so they make sure they take the whole time that is listed on the menu. If you order a 45 minute pedicure, they want to make sure they use that time. Not the other way around. Weekends are really busy so weekdays are your best bet. Sunday evenings around 5 pm seem to be the best time on the weekends. I feel like some people come in looking for things that are wrong but I love this place and enjoy the good prices for the great work they do! read more

Not sure what all these bad reviews are about... we were greatly nicely when we walked in. Three of us were getting our nails done. 2 gel manis and 1 regular pedi. We were told it was a 20 - 25 minute wait. Only waited 10 mins before being looked after. The nail technicians were quick, chatty, and did an awesome job. Everything that I could have wanted. This was my first visit to this particular nail salon. I am super disappointed that I have to go to a different place to redo my nails waste more time and money. I have been getting S&S done for years in other places. This time my nails look like I have plastic caps on top of my nails. It looks like the child did it. The thickness and the shape of my nails ...it is hard to describe. It was explained to me by the nail technician that she makes her nails thicker than other places in order to make them last longer. I have never had an issue of powder nails lasting a long time. In fact, they last so long than you need to go back to the nail salon to take the S&S off when my nails grow out. They probably are able to do basic pedicure or gel but go to a different place for S&S as they do not possess the necessary skillset to provide this type of service. read more

I walked in and was instantly impressed with the atmosphere. As soon as I walked in, I was asked to sign in and to go pick my colors. They had a good selection of colors, but nothing that wowed me. I chose my colors and instantly sat down with Phill. He was very nice and asked what I wanted. We talked about my daughter and how I was visiting from out of state. After he put on my full set, Rachel painted my nails. The previous post said that it had a "sweat shop" feel and I fully disagree. The salon was clean and organized. I would say this isn't the worst place to go but not the best either. The wait is always longer then they say it's going to be and last time I went in I got looked over in the list even though I was present and waiting. My biggest issue is that the the gel pedicure doesn't look nearly as good as it should when it's done by a professional and this has happened multiple times. I really like this place and Phillip. He always makes my nails look great. This nail spa is by my parents house so I only go here when I'm visiting them. I had a nail almost all the way falling off when I got to Pure Lux Spa yesterday. I walked in around 9:30 when they opened as I had to head back to my apartment for work around 1 I thought that would be plenty of time for a soak off and new acrylic set with gel polish (what I always do). I came in and the receptionist kept trying to convince me to do the dip powder. I said I did not want to as the only time I have tried it before was here at Pure Lux Spa and I really did not like it. Then Phillip came up to me as I was choosing my gel polish color and tried to talk me into the dip powder as well and said that I didn't like it because they must have done them too thin last time. Still I stuck with that I wanted acrylic and gel polish on top. I soaked my nails off which sometimes I feel like they just make you soak when they are busy instead of taking them off with a nail tip like they usually do. I probably was left to soak for 45 minutes. My nail tec for the day came over and again tried to convince me to do the dip powder. Jesus Christ what is it with this. Everyone around me was doing it and she kept saying how "dip is better" and would last longer and the receptionist man kept coming by and saying the same thing. I should have just said no but I caved in and picked a dip powder. That was my mistake yes, but I feel like if I've said I don't want something don't keep trying to convince me. So like I said I got there around 9:30 and I was not out of the salon until about 12:30.... I've never been in a nail salon for that long for just my nails. So the color I picked was a really pretty lilac. On my nails it is a almost see through light pink purple. I'm not super picky but they just look cheap. I was really upset because I couldn't stay any longer and my nails just looked like a new student had practiced on my hand. I had a terrible few days before I came in and usually getting my nails done makes me feel better. If you get your nails done you know the feeling it gives you when your nails look good and new. My nails looked better when I walked in with one falling off than they do while I'm typing this on my phone. The thing that really pushed me to write this review is when I was checking out (I still did tip because I work in a place where tips are your income and because of how much time she had spent on me) but when I was checking out the receptionist kept looking at my nails and I could tell he didn't think they looked good either. I said I wasn't so sure I liked them and he said i could come back and get a new acrylic set if I didn't like them. That made me feel better. So I paid $45 for a nail take off and dip powder + tip. I got to my work and asked my coworkers and a few customers their opinions about my nails. All of them said they they looked pretty bad. Color and just the nail it's self looked cheap. The powder was dumpy and uneven. I should not have left but I ran out of time that day. I decided to call and schedule a appointment to come back and get a new set like promised to me. So I called about 4 hours later. Same man that was at the register answered. He acted like he never told me that I could come in for a new set. I explained what time I came where I was seated what i was wearing what nails the ladies and young girl next to me were getting. The nail color I got. That one of my nails was coming off when I came in and what was told to me BY HIM when I checked out. HE SAID TO WAIT A FEW DAYS AND MAYBE I WOULD LIKE THE NAILS. I said no sir the look awful I do not like my nails and you said I could come get a full set. He said he did not think he said that. I kept on him because that's not what was told of me. I work I customer service and this was really irritating to me. I know it was him that spoke to me. I go to school by UNC Charlotte and said with my school and work schedule I would not be able to come in until Thursday. He said well that's too late to come in since that's 5 days away. I said but I don't like my nails and you told me I could come in. He sounded frustrated with me and scheduled me Thursday. This whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I am going to my normal salon today after work to see if they can fix the problem or if they think I'll just have to get a new acrylic set. I went I for a gel manicure it is the worst manicure I've ever had! I got a French with bla k tips. While the tech was trying to paint may nails another girl kept coming to get the black polish. Because apparently there was only one bottle which would them make the tech doing my nails have to track her down and take it back. At one point they started having an argument over the bottle of polish. The manicure looked poorly done and by the next day there were cracks in the gel on every nail. I went to another salon to have it repaired and they had to file my nails almost to nothing because they could not get the gel they used off of my nails. I will never go back. read more

Beautiful large nail salon. Love that the staff wear name tags so you know who did what and can request someone for next time. Unfortunately the quality of polish just isn't there. Their fills are crooked and break quickly. The staff don't seem super experienced and me along with other friends have had our fingers cut when getting manicures. They don't take time time or attention to detail as other nail salons I've been to. Beautiful and comfortable mani and pedi chairs just seem to mask the poor quality actually received unfortunately. This has been my mani/pedi place for years, but no more. For the past 3-4 months, every visit makes me feel as if I'm on an assembly line. Today - 19 minutes from the time I sat down until my pedi was over. The owner makes the techs use a stop watch, and it's like they're trying to finish before time is up. And when it WAS over, the tech just stood up and walked away. She didn't say thanks, she didn't walk me to the drying table, she didn't turn on the blower (I had to do that myself), and she was gone on to her next client. I'm done with Pure Lux. I was excited to find somewhere on my side of town since I had been driving 40 minutes to my old salon in Southpark. They seemed nice, the location was convenient and the services seemed comparable to what I was accustomed to. I always get a Gel Manicure. I have been getting them every 2-3 weeks for about 4 years now. Typically when I get a gel manicure, my polish is just growing out the way acrylic would...not chipped or damaged even if I waited 3+ weeks between appts. I mentioned to the tech at Pure Lux (on my first trip) that my biggest concern was how long it would last. As I have tried to find a closer nail salon for the last 2 years since I moved-- and none of them lasted. He brushed it off as if the places I tried weren't doing it correctly and said they applied the polish too thick which is why it chipped and came off... I have now tried Pure Lux 2 times (hoped the first time was a fluke!!) ... BOTH times with DIFFERENT techs and BOTH times the polish was chipping at the edges and lifting at the cuticle before 1 week was up!!!! Additionally-- I have very strong decently long nails... or I should say I DID. In all the years of me going to my other salon I never had nails break like this... sure I broke one occasionally...but after 2 trips to Pure Lux... I've been 3 times and every time I've gone there's a huge wait, the receptionist are stuck up teenagers on their phones and their employee Koa is EXTREMELY rude!! She acts like she hates her job and talks about how she wants to be done and wants to go home. She called my mothers nails dirty and acted disgusted when we both came to get our nails done. I no longer wanted my nails done by such a snob after I saw my mothers experience. My mother is a hard working florist that just wanted her nails done for attending a wedding she worked hard to decorate. Don't waste your money! Very dissatisfied with this business. My first experience there was quite fine but the quality of the work over time and the owner do not deliver what they say. Looks can be deceiving and I do hope they can step their quality of work up. I had a gel pedi removed and the lady removing the gel broke the skin twice on my toe cuticle(hurt) and started to bleed I flinched and she just acted like nothing happened and like I was invisible. From start the young lady at the front greeting me in a timely manner, they quickly set my station up (as if they were waiting on my visit), didn't have time to sign in. Nga my nail tech was very thorough and made sure I was comfortable at all times, her attention to detail was amazing. Most techs just want you out as soon as you sit down, next came my manicure and the young man (didn't catch his name) examined my nails and made sure he went about the right way to remove my acrylic nails without any discomfort (usually they use a spare acrylic nail, hurts like hell) not here he soaked them off enough to not damage my growing nails. The salon owner came and looked at them as well to make sure it was done correctly, he then proceeded to buff, file and fix the poorly done nail job from previous salon. End results were amazing. I've been here twice, the first time i got the dip powder and every nail fell off in the first four days, the second time, i Paid $60 for a gel mani/pedi just for it to look like I did it myself. I've got to agree with one BIG major problem here. You make an appt with a tech and not only doesn't that tech do your nails, but 3 others work on you. I'm guessing that's to keep things running and no one sitting around on idle time but that's a bit strange for any salon I've been to. Phillip the owner use to be present when I'd go there but somehow I never see him. For a place that's got enough business to have 2 receptionists, I think you can get your techs to stay and work on a set of nails ALONE without additional people. read more

This was a really great experience, other than the wait. We were told it would be about 15 minutes and we were seated within that timeframe, but sat there another 45 before anyone came over and got started. If I hadn't been in no hurry for the first time in my life, I would have been really ill about it. I can't stand being stuck in a pedicure chair and left there so I won't leave. BUT they recommended we make an appointment next time and we will be back because the service was so incredible. This was the best pedicure that either of us have ever had. We did splurge for the VIP but it was about 60 minutes long and absolutely the most relaxing pedicure I have ever had. This place was very clean, which is so important to us. There's plenty of parking, easy in and out. They also have a huge selection of nail polish. I highly recommend this place and the only reason for the 4 star rather than 5 is because of being dumped in the pedicure chair. it's good but inconsistent. most of the time I have a great experience and my nails look phenomenal but sometimes, my nails like like absolute trash. the lengths aren't even, polish looks bubbly and my nails constantly hurt after.
