By pain, I mean, weeks and weeks of neglecting my body sitting at a desk to sitting long durations in traffic and saying I'll stretch daily but can't find to even do that? My response to Allison M, Business Manager: Terminating my membership was not my choice, but was advised by the front administrator to do so, as it's easier administratively, rather than suspending my account/membership. I am in the country 7 months, and spend the other 5 months out because of work commitment. I was told to terminate when I leave and reinstate when I am back, which I have been doing for the last 3 to 4 years, and I have been a member more than that. Treating and charging me as a new customer or member each time I reinstate makes me feel like I am not valued as a customer at all! First of all Sally, if this was truly unfounded, which it was not. Then you would know this front desk "manager" said she booked with someone other than Abby. Guess throes cameras in your lobby isn't really working, or play sound. What records are you referring to as far as you trying to reach me? I would like to see those. Could it be the same records Mary-Anne handled? By the way, Yelpers, Mary-Anne was/is (allegedly she's coming back a few times a month) a front desk staff that would put "HMC" on 90% of the guests. What is HMC? High maintenance client. The reasoning that I was told that Mary-Anne would do this is, because guests preferred certain therapists and times. Hence it brings me to my next point. There has been accusations made by your employees that Theresa your GM has been verbally abusive to other staff members, there has tips missing from the front desk as well. There is why there is a high turn over rate, and your staff has asked you to review the cameras for missing tips. It's not wonder that employees are saying that you, Sally don't listen. They say you don't listen, and that is SUCH a shame as a business owner. One of the front desk girls (who was absolutely amazing) recently decided to leave, because she wasn't treated well there. Her words not mine. Also, Theresa never denied any of these things happening when she called back after I canceled my membership. As a matter of fact, Theresa started to interrogate me on the phone (after I canceled my membership). Theresa kept asking me who "Which employee/employees would let these sensitive information out". I was working in Mountain View for 4 days last week and was dealing with an awful headache plus neck pain. I Yelped "best massage" and this Elements location popped up. I read the great reviews and then I was able to book on-line, so helpful! There was one open spot in a time I could attend, as I work all day. I luckily scored a 7:30 PM spot with Ray on a Wednesday and when they called to confirm I just mentioned, "Hey if you get any cancellations later in the week, let me know" and the front desk person said that they did indeed get a cancellation for the following night, 6:15 PM with Monti!! So I grabbed that, too. OH MY GOSH, both Monti and Ray were fantastic massage therapists!! How did I get so lucky?? They are both clearly very experienced. Their techniques were so focused and specific to my injuries. They took my medical history into consideration, as I am an oncology patient. They frequently checked in to make sure their pressure was correct for my needs. They were both so so so kind. The space is beautiful, too. It is so clean and also very tranquil and private. Loved the front desk team, too. I caught the name of one person: Daniel, I think! I am pretty sure. He was so kind and welcoming on Wednesday. On Thursday there were two ladies who were equally awesome and made me feel so at home. I will 100% book a massage here- or two, or three- next time I get to come to the Sunnyvale area. If you are staying in the Marriott down the street, it is only a 2-block walk. It is also conveniently located next to a rocking Trader Joes. LOVED everything about Elements-Sunnyvale. I went here today and had Abby as my massage therapist and she was awesome! Before she started, she took the time to ask what kind of session I wanted and what areas of my body I wanted her to focus on and what parts I wanted her to avoid and she listened carefully AND remembered all these details once the session got started, which is huge. Abby was very thorough and used just the right amount of deep-but-not-too-deep pressure to undo a bunch of knotted muscles, especially my shoulders and back. She knew to focus on these areas as I told her I sit in front of a computer during most of my workday. This was an important detail that she asked about and made sure to keep into consideration throughout the session. In my opinion, this is exactly what separates a good massage therapist from an exceptional one: Attention to detail to make sure the client gets the exact care they need, specific to their needs. She is incredible at what she does and I will be sure to ask for her next time. As an added bonus to all of the above, Abby is super nice and has a positive, warm demeanor. It is clear Abby loves what she does for a living. I am almost a little hesitant to post this review because I selfishly don't want it to be harder to book a session with Abby if she becomes more in-demand! Seeing how this business gets 4.5 starts in Yelp, and how Yelp has not failed me ever, I am going to describe my experiences and my sentiments and let the reader judge for themselves if this is the right place for them or not. Front desk - Very friendly and courteous. Hard to get a hold of them on the phone, they do get back to you though. 5 stars. Massage therapists - some are good and some are below average. It is very hard to find appointments with the good ones that also work for my schedule. Massages from the below average therapists can be described as aimless, random, indifferent, you get the point. Website is okay, can schedule appointments but can't cancel them. I would give it a 2.5 star. Membership model feels like a trap. They have made it hard to suspend, you can't do it over the phone, you need to sign some form in person. If you suspend it, then you won't get the member rate for massages anymore. The credits keep piling up, I can't find appointments with the good therapists, and the massages with the bad ones are more stressful and frustrating than relaxing. Which is ironic lol read more

I've had constant, severe back pain for 7+ years and no doctor or specialist was able to pinpoint the issue until I came here. Mike found that I actually had muscle adhesions and scar tissue in my left shoulder and that caused my body to compensate and radiate to other areas. I go back and forth between him a Jay depending on who's available because they're both miracle workers. Jay actually found that the tightness radiated in my left side lats, arms and even deep in my armpit., a place I never knew I needed work on. The massages are hard and I have to breathe through them but it works. They both give me homework to do at home to keep working out my pain points. I knocked down a star because when I first came here, I had a lady who was fine for a normal massage but because she didn't speak English, I couldn't communicate my issues and what I really needed from her. But I booked her online because I was desperate for relief that day and she was the only one available. I'm glad I tried again and found Mike and Jay. I had a membership at Elements for at least half a year. They have convenient and flexible membership plans. For $79/month you get one 1-hour massage a month (without a membership it is 30 dollars more) and the nice thing is the massages can roll-over if you don't get a chance to use it that month. I'll start by saying I had 3 excellent prenatal massages here by three different masseuses. They all did it a little bit differently- two had me lie on my side with a leg on a cushion, and one had me lie on an elevated incline. All of them did a great job keeping me comfortable and working out neck and back discomfort. I high recommend for prenatal massages. Post-baby, I did not enjoy my deep tissue massages. I hold a lot of tension in my upper back, which I think a lot of us do in this area! I tried, I dunno at least 4-5 "deep-tissue" masseuses and I didn't think any of them worked out my knots well. Most of them use this method where they take 1 finger and press on an area for a long time. That's personally just not a method that works well for me and I would lay there wondering why they couldn't use the rest of their hands or how long they were going to press with one finger. I prefer kneading/massaging with both hands. I've held massage memberships in both of the cities I lived in prior and was also happy with the unique techniques the masseuses used, but the ones here just weren't sufficient for the amount of pressure I needed. read more

I've been an Elements members for years. Overall an excellent service and the business is good to their staff. When SIP happened, they allowed me to suspend the account twice. When we were allowed to return for massages, I was very hesitant to do so. They were empathetic, kind, and patient with my concerns. They explained the studio's new covid compliance process which made me feel comfortable returning. They also were able to pull previous unused massages and made sure that I didn't lose any of my prepayments. The best part, however is Takako. She's an excellent therapist with healing hands. She is always able to find knots that i wasn't even aware of! I always leave feeling better than I started. read more

I went to this location a few times. The last time I was there, I got a male therapist who was very creepy. While having the massage done, I remember the other therapists would cover couple sheets on me and that made comfortable. This guy kept taking a layer of the sheet even when he was not working on that part of my body. It was really creepy and so unprofessional. I later told the front desk and they didn't seem to care. They took no action! Massage places should keep professional people and not such creeps. Later, I forgot about another appointment I had and they charged me a no show fee. I requested them asking if they could refund it as a one time courtesy and the receptionist picked up a fight. And they blacklisted me that I couldn't book appointments anymore. I had the worst massage ever here! I've had many many massages before from high end to the walk in "chinese foot massage". First of all I booked a 1hr massage with hot stones. When I came in I asked if I can remove the hot stones since it's over 100 degrees outside and I'm already too hot. She was very professional and said yes. When my massage therapist came in the first thing she asked me was if I knew how to speak mandarin or Chinese. I thought what a weird question and I said no .. I'm Filipino. She was then showing me the stones and aroma therapy. I told her I canceled the stones but she said I cannot cancel. I have to do it. So.. I said "ok??!" I undressed and she began just kneading my shoulders, stretching my arms etc. The stones were so hot but as long as she was moving them it was ok. But when it was in one place it burned. I had to manually remove and one time pushed it away. But she kept using them. She asked me if I wanted to turn and of course I did. She never massages my legs.. just lifted them up swirled them and made me stretch back and forth. She also wanted to stretch my shoulders and kept massaging my breast and very close to my nipples. I had to push her hands away several times. She placed a towel on my eyes but also covered my nose and I had to move it away since I couldn't breathe well. I was expecting a nice restful massage with lavender aroma therapy but instead I felt like I was a piece of meat being thrown around, poked and prodded. After it was all done she turned the lights on and left. I guess I was done with the torture. I left a $10 tip. She came back and said I need to give her $20!! Again.. I just wanted to get the hell out of there and handed her an extra $10. I mentioned it to the receptionist when I left and got charged and extra $30 for the hot stones (which I didn't want) and aromatherapy. Never coming back here again. I can't believe the reviews here - the good reviews are so misleading that they got me in a lot of pain and trouble. I had mild pain in my arm and sheduled a masage. They said they would do theraputic massage that would hurt a little and is to be expected. Cut to the day after - and then days after. I am writhing with neck pain all day, there are not that many muscles in the neck - yet they squuezed it so bad it feels like I am dying. It's been 48 hours and it's worse that it was when I came out. It is so bad that I feel like never getting a massage anwhere again!!! Please train your professionals to understand what body part can tolerate pressure and what not! The literally pressed on my spinal cord at my neck for a long time. I did not say anything then thinking they would know better. I am in NECK BRACES. I had to take leave from work. Still will have to take a leave tomorrow. RUN. I have no problem with the messages, they were great. I have a problem with customer service. I was/am a member and had 4 sessions left when COVID hit, which they deemed expired in 2021. I called and whoever I spoke to said that a manager would contact me. I also sent an email, no response. This contact happened earlier, when I was still under COVID protocol, not recently. Granted I'm sure & know that businesses lost money, but I don't think that they should keep my money with no services rendered. My last visit was February 2020 and then COVID shut us all down. I have been inactive on Yelp for a while but felt compelled to write this review for the receptionist Aleisha and my massage therapist Abby. I had called the week prior to double check if I could use my spa finder gift cards at this location. I spoke with Aleisha on the phone and she was very helpful. And for those who are wondering-yes, they do accept multi-use spa finder gift cards! Yay! The online reservation system was easy to navigate and I like that you can select your massage therapist based on the level of pressure that you like. I think the levels range from light to firm pressure. And there are also massage therapists that specialize in trigger points. When I arrived on the day of my appointment, Aleisha was just as kind as she was over the phone. I filled out a health survey and I liked that it asked which areas of my body the massage therapist could work on. Abby, my massage therapist walked me into the room and went over what areas she would work on based on what I filled out in the survey. She saw that I mentioned I am a teacher in the survey and said she would focus a lot on my back. I am constantly bending over to talk to students so yeah my back definitely needs some TLC. It's little things like that that truly make me feel like my massage was personalized for me! The massage itself was sooo wonderful! Abby used the perfect amount of pressure (I like light to medium pressure) and was very professional throughout the entire session. At the end of the session, she gave me a paper with therapist notes and listed alternate therapists in case she wasn't available. I love the level of care and thoughtfulness of this establishment. So, a week ago, I made an appointment for a 90 min Himalayan salt stone massage and just got a phone call today about my massage therapist calling in sick. This is completely understandable since massage therapists are people and people get sick. However, what is not understandable is the lack of empathy I received about the cancellation. I had to ask for when the earliest appointment can be for a rebooking and was told the only appointment I can get is a 60 minute rebooking on Sunday. Anything else? Not possible. No offer to look for something else. No offer to try and rebook for me. No real condolences. Just a "Okay, we can cancel your appointment" and that's it. It's almost as if they don't care about first time clients. I've been looking forward to this massage literally all week. It was a birthday gift to myself. I was getting monthly massages at Elements for a while and didn't have any negative experiences. Walking in the space was relaxed and welcoming, and every therapist I saw did a great job. After a while I decided I didn't want to get monthly massages, and when I was asked if I wanted to schedule another session I said I didn't. Maybe I'd get a massage in the future, but just not keep the monthly subscription. I thought that would be the end of it, until one day I looked at my credit card and saw I had been charged for every. month. since I cancelled. Four months of massages I never received nor intended to receive, with no emails warning me of upcoming charges or any other communication. I communicated my situation via email to the studio and they've been very slow to respond, saying "unfortunately, I do not see anywhere on your account that you requested to be terminated, or the form required to be filled out to confirm termination." How is the customer supposed to know what exact forms the office needs? Someone should be able to transparently stop getting massages without quietly and predatorily being charged month after month. Toxic business model, stay away and spend your money on a studio that cares about its customers. read more

They finally opened up since the pandemic started and good timing too. I have a connective tissue disorder and I occasionally wake up with a massive amount of spasm in my neck and back. Sometimes I can barely move. They always try to get me in ASAP when I call and I'm in pain, often consulting with a massage therapist to review my case and figure out who can help me the most on short notice. They've always returned calls left by voicemail so I've never felt forgotten. I'm between physical therapists right now. I'm a tough customer because there's only so much you can do in one session, especially without a PT TENS machine, but I always leave feeling like they've targeted the right spots and feel an increase in my circulation. It's incredibly rare that I feel worse the next day and I know it's due to complications from my medical condition. If I need multiple sessions they'll get me back in with the right people at the appropriate time. The front desk is very nice and they always ask if I'm feeling better. I feel very welcome there and I know I'm in good hands. I'm grateful that I can always rely on these people to help whenever I need it. Elements Massage is generally a brand that's pretty reliable.It was my first time in this location, but have been to other locations. I heard good reviews from others before about the Sunnyvale one. I got to my appointment 2 min late, and they were kind to suggest that I just sign the form and have the therapist, Jill, fill in the rest. I assume this is to save me time filling out the sheet. When I got to the assigned room, Jill asked a few standard questions about why I was there & what I wanted work on, and then left the room to give me time to get in the massage bed. The overall massage was fine, and I liked the amount of pressure she used. She was courteous and professional, and gave me advice on neck stretches I can do at home. The only things I would point out: - I booked an 1-hour appointment, I got 53minutes. I know because I got there 6:02pm and got out and made my payment at 6:55pm. When you're charging $109 for an hour (even with the first timer discount of $30), I would say every minute counts. The other Elements location I've been to often packed the full hour, so this was a disappointment. - Parking can be difficult. It's a small lot around a Trader Joes. The receptionist was friendly and their waiting area has a nice soothing water feature on the wall. I liked the fact that the entrance area is clean and restful without being frilly or overdone. A lot of times, if I visit a spa, it really screams mani-pedis and facials as well. The nice thing about ETM is that it's only a massage place. So you know that they won't be trying to upsell you with a facial or some other sort of laser light treatment. They will, however, ask if you want to add hot stones to your massage for $10. I got there a few minutes early, knowing that I would have to fill out paperwork. It was fairly straightforward. The lobby area is clean and spacious. I waited until a few other patrons had walked out the door, so I knew my massage was coming up. Sarah, my massage therapist came out to usher me to the room. It was fairly spacious, painted with chocolate walls and had very little decoration. But there is no need, as long as I have a chair for my clothes and a hanger for my coat, which were both provided. There was a little chocolate tucked onto the sheets along with a small envelope for the tip, which I put aside. The massage itself was very soothing. You know you're relaxed when you can feel your mouth start to drool as you lay there with your face in that funny donut-shaped pillow! My experience here was by far the worst massage I have ever had and I've been getting professional massages for almost a decade. It's been a few months and I wasn't planning on posting a review, but my masseuse was so awful that I am still pretty upset about it. She didn't give me a full body massage like I asked and instead spent most of the time focusing on my shoulders, thighs, and calves. The shoulder massage was fine, but it felt like she was digging her knuckles into my thighs and calves. He's a pleasure to work with because of his skills and his humorous and down to earth personality. He makes me cry and laugh at the same time (no joke). Elements changed me. I no longer go to run-off-the-mill massage salons/spa anymore. I no longer crave for their fanciness/zen-like ambiance; what I look out for is the expertise and the knowledge of the therapists at Elements, and the relief that follows post massage. It's also good to understand that you'd probably need to try a couple of therapists before you finally find the one (or couple) that work for you. I did the same with Elements in San Mateo, and then in Sunnyvale - and am glad I came across Dee. She'll do that by making sure the pressure is fine throughout the session, the temperature is okay, your neck is well rested and all other finer attention to details which make it a relaxing visit each time. She's good with her firm yet gentle pressure which ensures maximum relaxation but also isn't afraid to try new techniques to relax the muscles. Overall, she's friendly, always happy to chat and helpful by giving suggestions for stretching exercises. It's always a pleasure to see her, and she's genuinely happy to see you too! This place greatly exceeded my expectations! Check-in/registration was quick and simple with a short questionnaire. Then at my exact appointment time my massage therapist greeted me and led me to a dim, zen-like massage room with a very comfortable table. I was coming in with upper back, neck and mid back tension, which all melted away during the 1-hour massage. My therapist consistently asked if the pressure was right -- very important since I do not like to be too sore after deep tissue work. I am also getting over some other injuries and he was careful not to aggravate anything. The Massage was alright, the service attitude is pretty bad. They make you sign contract with out explaining anything to you, so please be very careful!! If you're late for appointments, don't except they'll call you or anything, you'll just be charged for 45 buck late cancelation fee. If you need to cancel the membership, they will force you to pay an extra month before cancelation. Just be careful doing any business with them, since they won't give you any clear explanation and you have to figure it out by yourself. read more
