All her analogies made the kids laugh, and as the hour wore on, she had them more and more. Not only did they learn all the steps and moves with gusto, by the end of the hour, they loved her. What a joy to watch as they asked her to dance at the end, then, after she had and they clapped, they rushed her to give her hugs and dance with her. She knows children as well as she knows dance, which is very well indeed. Of note to me also was the fact that she encouraged boys to dance and express themselves, appreciating how important that is for our society. Expressing creative emotions in a safe, structured environment makes our world a better place. Kudos, Dance Vision USA.

The lessons learned have started them on an excellent path in their future. The artistry that is taught through the creative team grows year upon year and the dancers excel. As my daughter now prepares to enter a coveted dance conservatory to work on her BFA in dance I can say with confidence that if it were not for the guidance of Fired-Up's Director and staff and the village of parents who have helped support us she may not be going onwards to an amazing future.

He likes to engage and see the other babies, so far he's been the smallest one in class so he really likes to see the other babies crawl around and play. We are in the bugs class so my self and my husband can both attend which has been so great. It's a family outing and we love seeing our little guy grow in his movement and social confidence! We also joined the little gym in the 4th of July parade which was such a fun experience! They have so many different offerings too like birthday rooms and a fun night class so parents can have a date night! So excited to continue our journey here. I have a 14 month old and a lot of people in the class had smaller kids and toddlers as well. We instead found MyGym and they had so many more options like a ball pit, slides of various sizes, small rock climbing area, hanging areas and offered structured classes at a more affordable price as well along with a tiral period.

Classes are going to range from $35-50 per month / 5 weeks, which I think is a fairly good deal considering all of the dance instruction. Most people who I've encountered here seem very happy with the whole set up. Facilities are top notch as there is plenty of room to dance and rest along the sidelines. Though class enrollment fills up quickly, the actual onsite classes have just enough people to make sure everyone gets some bit of individual attention. The instructors here are super friendly and specialize in all sorts of different dance styles. Not everyone is born with twinkle toes, but they seem to do a great job in being patient and helping people get to where they want to be. Fear not solo visitors, they're also very good at pairing people with the right skill level. For those interested in taking their dancing to another level, this is a place to also train for competition. I've seen some photos of locals who are now professionals after taking their first dance steps here as a beginner. Whether you're a notice or a professional, this is an excellent place to learn. And if that's not enough, this is an excellent alternative to the gym for people looking to get fit.

Although normally I would consider it premature to write a review after one experience, Jasmin's class was so fantastic in fitting my needs that I felt compelled to do so. I am at the age where I am no longer considered young, but definitely not ready to be labelled as old (44 to be exact). I took up ballet as an adult in my late thirties, and learned how to do my first split at 40. Women who are in my demographic (and younger) need to know one thing if you are seeking and craving the lines and grace of a dancer: IT'S A HARD AND FRUSTRATING PROCESS. It takes years. It takes commitment. And it takes a good instructor. That's where Jasmin comes in. She knows her stuff. I've had some great teachers, but they are all in S.F., and frankly I'm just tired of taking that nasty BART train to the city every week. That's the one thing I can now say I'm too old for. But finding Jasmin is a salvation. After trying another local dance studio for many weeks with a teacher who only cared for the clique student clientele she had already built, I almost gave up on continuing my dance education. Yes, I do take yoga, pilates, and barre classes, but none of these will make you a dancer. They are meant to be complements to your main instruction. Jasmin's class is the main instruction. She corrects your form. She will be strict about it. And if that frustrates you then she is doing her job. And don't expect to dance until you have attained some degree of competence at the basics. Which means, like me, you may be at the barre for a couple of years before you are allowed to put even one socked foot in the middle of the dance floor (actually, I don't think this is true of Jasmin's class, but no one looks to good in the center without good form). The best teachers are ones you want to punch in the face when you think you can't stretch a little more, turn out a little more, hold a position a little more...if you are really looking to improve or learn ballet for the first or second time, then you should expect this frustration when you go to class if you want to get better. Jasmin will make you better without making you want to punch her in the face (but only because it would make you feel guilty to mess with that adorable face)!

I had in past years attempted to take an adults class but the instructors weren't as stern in teaching the right movements and helping you correct so as a beginner I always got frustrated and never went back to them (when I use word "stern" I don't mean Jasmin gets in your face but I appreciate her seeing the potential in us enough to take the time to explain and show us correct form and technique)... But really, try the class and you will be hooked...I know I am! Is it possible to crave going to class ? I really hope you enjoy the class as much or more than I do . P.S. I was keeping up but some steps I wasn't and the people around kind of helped. Very kind of them! Then we went to a different room for some Salsa! I've been impressed by their programming, social and events. I always know that when I go to SGD I'm going to feel safe and have a great time! This past weekend I had a friend visiting from London. She's an avid dancer and can dance w/ the best of them, so of course we chose to spend our one evening together at SGD. Late in the night, she lost her phone and we approached Miguel the owner of SGD to help us. He was super helpful, we exchanged phone #'s and he helped us gain wi-fi access to geo-locate the phone. He said the regulars are all super honest and ethical and that the phone should be here somewhere. Turns out, the phone dropped out onto the floor in our car. So crisis adverted! I guess in summary, what impressed me most was Miguel. The confidence and integrity in the business and community of regular dance patrons he's built. It was an absolute pleasure to experience that. I think some venues I've been to woulda said "Good luck to you!" But Miguel was concerned, helpful and supportive! If you are looking for a dance studio / community, I can't recommend SGD enough. I live a bit far and now will make more of an effort to dance here more regularly.
