My daughter did a week long summer camp at OGA. It was pricey, during COVID, and I had no idea what to expect. Well I was pleasantly surprised. Day one check in was perfectly smooth, the staff was organized and everything was on time. According to my daughter, class was super fun. Everyone kept their masks on and stayed safe. Check out was the same. Fast, efficient and friendly. Repeat for each day of camp. Truly the only issue I experienced was other parents being rude in the parking lot, as there isn't a lot of parking and people would just stop and block cars and not care about anyone but themselves. I'm guessing this is a regular occurrence because it is super hard to find a spot and not get your car hit by someone in a rush. Let me be 100% clear, this is not a reflection of OGA. And it's not their responsibility. But it is something I experienced all week in the morning and evening. I highly recommend the center for gymnastics. The coaches encouraged each girl regardless of their talent level. The other thing about the staff that stood out is that there were so many different body types of Instructor. They didn't all look petite and muscular. It was empowering for young girls to see that, because your body type doesn't dictate what you can or cannot do. read more

I am writing this review to express my deep anger regarding the Jitter Bugs class today (Saturday, 12:00 PM, 5/16/2026). My child was only allowed to participate in two out of the three sections. The substitute teacher banned him from the final section, abruptly stating he didn't "meet expectations." As the only minority family in the room, the lack of transparency and fairness felt extremely targeted and discriminatory. When we tried to politely communicate with her to ask for clarification, she showed absolute zero willingness to talk and exhibited a shockingly rude and hostile attitude toward us. This is completely unacceptable behavior for an educator working with young children. We felt targeted, unwelcome, and mistreated. I highly expect the management of Oregon Gymnastics Academy to look into this specific class and address this unprofessional substitute teacher. read more

The policies at Oregon Gymnastics Academy have been changes quite a lot since we joined over a year ago. I had originally appreciated the ability to make up classes when we were not able to make it for one reason or another, which made it a lot more accessible and affordable. However, they continue to reduce the amount of time you have to use your make up classes as well as reduce the number of spots available so I've encountered more than once situations where there is not room for my daughter to do a make up class enough times that the make up classes expired. Furthermore, despite paying a yearly membership fee if you drop the class for any reason, such as the instructor changing (which happens on a regular basis), you won't be able to use any make up sessions you had left. Most of these "instructors" appear to simply be young gymnastics in high school or just out of high school and its hit or miss if they will actually be able to manage the number of kids that are assigned to, and when you get a substitute instructor there is a good chance they will be even less interested in teaching the kids. The last time my daughter had a substitute they spent most of the class talking with other instructors while my daughter was paired with another child that was just goofing off at the station and blocking mine from actually doing the activity. When she went to the teacher she was told to "move faster". If she'd been paying attention she would have seen that that response was not appropriate whatsoever. read more

My daughter has been going for her gymnastic classes from quite some time at OGA. I found this place a great way to introduce gymnastic to little kids. She was enrolled in rolly polly and now as per her age she is in wiggle worms. Instructions get more serious for 3 years + class. I like the fact that they have ample classes for wiggle worms so far and usually teacher child ratio in the class is around max 4 students per coach from what I have seen. The class cancellation policy is easy and you can cancel an hour before the class and their make up class needs to be taken in the same month else it expires. Some coaches are really excellent and they even give personal feedback to parents about how the kid is progressing. The coaches have helped my kiddo develop an interest and enjoy her time here. They have ample parking but on weekends finding parking can take little time. They also have a room which they rent for birthday parties . 3 year olds and above can have an hour gymnastic session with the coach. That is one cool way to celebrate child's birthday. My daughter went here for gymnastics classes from around 3 to 4 years of age. I think it is a great place to introduce your kid to gymnastics. Teachers try to mix up gymnastics learning with fun activities for little kids. The place seems very well equipped for all ages and stages. There is a vast schedule to choose from, for each class. Their make up policy is very generous too. I have attended birthday parties here as well and the kids always had fun. Seemed well organized and the hosts seemed enthusiastic. There were some issues for me though. My child needed a little bit of hand holding since she takes time to warm up. And I don't think teachers are trained to handle younger kids that way. That was not a problem for most parents of course, but it was for me. Second, the viewing gallery for parents is too chaotic. That's the waiting area for parents and also has a small ball pit area. It's also where kids are taking off their jackets, shoes etc and putting them in cubbies. Teachers are taking kids through this area to walk to the other side of the gym. It gets way too crowded and chaotic. They really should streamline that area. read more

We enrolled our student with full disclosure of their neurocognitive difference. Seven year olds with significant ADHD have unique challenges and gifts. Challenges include impulsivity and listening ( literally not hearing and processing in real time) and our child's gifts include uncommon strength, courage, eagerness to try and master new skills, and relevant to gymnastics- enthusiasm to explore novel movement and equipment. Group participation requires unique approaches. I was assured things would work. After a churn of young teachers in our class, each surprised snd ill-equipped to teach our child effectively, all perplexed at the " problem with listening" and no effective plans relevant to our child's disability, we were treated as if we had a disciplinary issue that could not be accommodated ( no accommodations were ever tried as far as communication from teachers indicates), we were expelled summarily from our class via the parent portal. I did not discover this had even happened because the brief note was buried in portal email for 2 weeks during which time nobody from OGA alerted us even when we called to discuss schedules. In fact it was discovered as we prepared to leave for class at OGA! This disrespect and disingenuousness are harmful, unprofessional and not the proper response to a family that has been fully open and transparent about our child's differences. Do not believe staff who indicate your child's unique learning needs will be accommodated. This is a ploy for tuition. read more

We were concerned about the air quality inside (it was a Wednesday night class. The room, despite being spacious, was rather crowded, and we didn't see very clear signs of ventilation) so we brought this to the attention of their supervisor (Lisa Havelind). The lady first said basically "don't worry my own kids used to go here 20 years ago (hello? how does that say anything about the air quality now?)", and then "our air quality is monitored and inspected yearly." So then I got curious about the details and asked if I could see the inspection report, to which she sternly replied "No" and left our conversation seeming very offended. Two days later I received an email stating that obviously we do not fit there and my daughter was removed from the class. Despite me making it very clear that we are very happy with the teachers and all other aspects of OGA besides the air quality, and that we do not plan to discontinue our class there, Lisa insists that her decision to kick us out is final. I still have no idea what got us such an unfriendly treatment. Throughout the whole time I was super polite. I believe that as a customer I am entitled to ask about the air quality information. But the way Lisa treated us makes me feel like I am in the wrong here...The most odd customer experience I've ever had. read more

Great place to introduce your child to the world of gymnastics! What started as a way to tire my active 4 year old has become a way of life. My daughter began with a simple gymnastics class and has moved to Girls Team competition level. OGA is great in that all their instuctors and coaches are very experienced. Safety is their main concern. Kids have a blast and get tired out. If they love the sport, they move up to team and add lots of hours to the gym. We have been going to OGA for 7 years and love this place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. read more

We have been coming here for about 4 months now and my 4yr old son and 6yr old daughter love it. My daughter's first instructor was not great and always looked very tired and maybe even sick but a few weeks ago, a new instructor came on who is encouraging and just wonderful! She high fives and gives great pointers. My daughter was bumped to the next level and was a little sad she will have a new instructor, but hopefully she will be great also. I do see some of the instructors be more rigid with the older kids and the front desk was snooty until just recently they have newer people in there. I really OGA is trying to better the experience there. Try Open Gym on Saturdays! The kids get to use the equipment and either practice or just play. read more

I've been bringing my kids here for just over a year, and I've finally pulled them out. They just aren't learning anything and they're bored. The coach proudly told me a couple of weeks ago that my four and a half year old was doing forward rolls completely unassisted...um - yes, she has been since she was two. It's just ridiculous to pay this much and have the kids limited to the basic skills that they have them repeat every week. We're looking for a new gym - this place seems to be interested in only star gymnasts (as they identify them) and making money for babysitting...no real learning going on here. read more

I tried this for my son last summer. My husband and I both did gymnastics as kids and loved it! So we were hoping to instill a good experience with our son. Unfortunately, it was NOT a good experience! We signed up for weeks toward the end of the summer, so maybe the class counselors were burned out by then by the kids all summer, but they were not nice to my son. We went here for a birthday party for my niece, and what a facility. I don't know a ton about gymnastics, but it looks like they're set up to do anything and everything. The staff was friendly, and they even have a retail area to buy refreshments and gear. Plenty of parking, and tons of bleacher seats for the parents. I'm pretty sure we'll be signing our daughter up for regular classes based on what we've seen. Nice job! read more

OGA, The front desk staff members have a rude and condescending attitude. They don't care about you or your child if you don't have a competitive star athlete. I would never recommend to any special needs family this facility. They hide behind the phrase "we are a non-profit". They have lost the definition of that. My child had private lessons and they made no effort to welcome him instead it was who are you? What do you want? Do you need a tour? After a few weeks of going there. Give me a break, it doesn't hurt to smile and say hi and then I as his parent could say who my child was there for class with. Their board of directors is a joke. I used to think they cared, once, twice, every week something else showed or told me they don't. My child's program isn't their bread and butter. Awful, just awful. It's like watching my child at a military camp. My child has gone to birthday parties there and the "coaches" are so restrictive and don't know how to work with kids. I've watched them physically wrangle my kid. The party room is dark, hot, and humid and all the people come out of there like they did hot yoga but the coaches are outside making sure that people are not allowed to get fresh air. They literally sit outside of the room waiting for people to gasp for air and then very rudely tell them to go back in. Seriously, this is the worst and rudest place, that is suppose to be for kids, that I've ever been to. All the parents that I've chatted with agree... Stay far away from this place. read more

I visited today with my 3 yr. old granddaughter, when it was time to go she didn't quite grasp the fact that everyone had to leave. As I was working with her that we had to go, the manager came over to her and said "you have 4 seconds to get out" since she didn't understand (she is only 3) he than said "okay, you can never come back!) she cried and was so heartbroken... I told the receptionist up front and all she said was "I'll tell the manager" Well not to worry, we will not be back...you don't treat a 3 yr. old in this manner...shame on you! read more

I think the school is ok, in general. They have a lot of equipment and a good choice of class times. They also do summer camp and "parents night out" which is nice. My biggest complaint is the turnover rate! My child has had 7 teachers in a little over a year. That's a new teacher about every two months. It makes it really difficult for my child to get used to a teacher, their teaching style, their personality, etc. There's also never any notice about teacher changes. Just one day we show up to a class and my child has a new teacher that I've never seen before. Then within a couple of months they quit. We're honestly thinking of switching schools just to get some consistency. read more

Our kids really enjoy the OGA summer day camps. I like that the kids aren't out in the sun and heat all day. There is at least one field trip a week that usually includes swimming. The price is very reasonable as compared to other camps. read more

My daughter really LOVES her rec gym classes here. There are some really great coaches. I'd recommend scoping out the classes to find the ones who have great attention to detail, or whose personality best fits your child. Most of the coaches are pretty young, so there is some turnover from time to time as people go off to school or find a higher paying "grown up" job. This summer was really bad; my daughter lost both her coaches, although after some trial and error, we have found a couple of really solid, detail-oriented and positive coaches to continue with this year. Overall, I think that there are many dedicated and wonderful people who work there. Parking is a pain. read more

Terrible for toddlers. Terrible parking. Here, they're adamant about having the kids warm up on the main gymnastics floor before bring them into a toddler room where they essentially walk a balance beam 2 inches off the floor, pull hula hoops over their bodies, and try to lift themselves off the ground by grabbing a bar a few inches over their heads. I get the need to teach warm up, but I don't know how necessary it was at this age and for these simple activities. Anyway, my 3-year-old daughter wants to go to this toddler room, so she has to do the warm up on the main floor. The problem is that all of the noise and activity on the main floor freaks her out, and the warm up is on one of those spring platforms that goes up and down and bangs when jumped on. This really freaks her out, so she clings to me crying rather than participate. So then after warm up, we all go upstairs to the toddler room and the instructor COLDLY says she can't come in because she didn't warm up. My daughter was devastated and I was furious. She was had only just turned 3 and I think time in the toddler room would have made her happy and more comfortable for the next warm up. How do you kick a willing and excited 3 year old out of a class? We tried one more time, same result, so I stopped taking her. The worst part is that she thinks she can't do it, like it's her fault, which breaks my heart. The OGA folks have zero concept of how a toddler's mind works and how relatively unsocialized and fragile they are. Kids this young need to feel welcomed and encouraged, not shamed and left behind. I'm writing specifically about OGAs Parents Night Out. It used to be a great program where the kids did gymnastics, played in the foam pit, rocked the hula hoops under the disco ball etc. I remember picking them up sweating because they had so much fun. Now apparently a parent complained that their kids were too wound up so now they sit and do crafts and watch movies for 4 hrs. A complete waste where you can now hire a sitter for that because they no longer provide any value adder. My kids used to love the place, now they whine and cry about going to OGA. Think twice before sending your kids there to stare at a movie and fall asleep. Change it back to the old OGA program and I'll bring the kids in a heartbeat! Come on OGA what happened? There's a word in your name between "Oregon" and "Academy". read more

I'm surprised by the unfavorable reviews here. Our kids had done gymnastics at another gym where we used to live, and OGA has really helped them with their form to prevent injury. The recreational program is great. They have a very set system for what is taught each week in class and what kids need to do to move up, which is helpful due to turnover. Any job like this will have lots of college kids, and lots of transition as a result. The structure of the program allows this. Most of the coaches are really positive with the kids and the message overall is positive and not overly competitive. Our kids have progressed a lot and really love doing gymnastics now. Only real downside is the lack of flexibility with rescheduling if your family goes out of town, etc. read more

This is by far the best gymnastics facility. The staff are amazing and involved. The staff keep the students busy and motivated. They have special activities for the kids such as Olympics week and more. The staff encourage the children and reinforce that everyone learns techniques with practice. They make it easier when learning new techniques to lessen the embarrassment for older children. My oldest is 32 and my youngest is 12. I wish I would have found this facility years ago. I feel safe leaving her in class and not staying in the building. I enjoy the happy instructors and the clean well supplied environment. The children are always busy, they take breaks every 15 minutes for water and if they want a misting with water to cool off. The classes are usually around 8 children and the instructors are well trained. The office staff is extremely helpful and flexible with schedule changes and missed classes. I would recommend to anyone looking for a gymnastics facility! read more

My daughter has been doing gymnastics here for 4 years and it has been amazing to see her progress. See my daughter has Down syndrome and the All-Star Program is perfectly matched for her. The coaches expect just enough and push her just enough that she wants to always do her best. If your child is older, this review may not apply to you, but if you're interested in starting your child at a younger age... READ ON.... I took my just-turned 3 year old daughter here for her first gymnastics lesson. I am NOT going back and requested a refund. Sure, this gym looks awesome because it has everything, but it's HUGE, and there are SO many people inside. I showed up early and met a few people at the front, but then joined the herd on the inside. There were so many kiddos! My girl was excited to come, and we'd been talking about it for a few weeks, so she was well prepared. But again, there were so many people inside and she immediately got shy. A young man showed up to take the kiddos down from the parent's balcony viewing area, and didn't notice her at all so I made sure to mention her name to him and that it was her first time. Annndd then it went downhill: Bad things that happened: 1. They called her the wrong name for 10 minutes, so she wasn't responding to them when they spoke to her. 2. When they split the group into two by their names from a long line against the wall, every kid got called except mine. She was left alone on the wall. They were about to split to another area when they noticed her still sitting there. The young man then mentioned that she was new, so they found a spot for her with the other kiddos. 3. In the smaller group, one instructor, CJ, was AWFUL. They were walking the beam and mine had never even been on one. She was asking them to do specific moves on it as they walked down, which of course, my daughter was clueless to. After one turn on it, she went and sat down and no longer participated while the others were going right back to the end of the line and were being helped by CJ. They all knew what they were doing, and did a few tricks too. It seemed like the complete wrong class for my beginner. My daughter quickly lost interest and started creeping up the stairs back to me. She sat down and watched the others practice from there. Then CJ walked them all to other other side of the gym to the bathrooms, and was yelling at my daughter to come over to them. Then she looked up at me, and yelled at me in front of all the other parents, "If your daughter isn't going to join us, you need to come get her. " ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Thanks for trying! She wasn't even doing anything wrong - just sitting. I immediately got her, put her shoes on and left the gym. WORST experience ever. I do have to mention Peyton, who was a gem of an employee. She was working with my daughter at the beginning (after I let them know they were calling her the wrong name) to get her comfortable and sit with the others and do what they were doing. My daughter was doing great after Peyton helped her, but as soon she was split into another group with CJ, she turned off. Unless your child is completely comfortable in new environments with a lot of other students, you may want to reconsider this place. It seems there is no "beginner process." You just get stuck to a certain age group. It was overwhelming to say the least. I am going to search for a smaller gym that is more personable. This gym seems more focused on quantity than quality, and I am not a fan. It might be a better place to return to when she's older. read more
