This studio is family ran and you can tell. It's super welcoming here! Every staff member, from the instructors to the parents in the waiting room are really friendly!! What I'm mostly impressed with is the love, the connection and the passion, each staff member has for every single students. All while maintaining structure and control of the class. There's so many students and it's very impressive to see them connect to each and every dancer. They are super organized, have great communication and always send out emails on updates. I called 4-5 different studios, before I found Encore, with no call backs from my voicemails, no reply to my emails at all and the one studio that we did a trial class with was a a total fail. They put my girls in the totally wrong level class and the instructor was completely unprofessional. Encore replied immediately and got us right in.!! So, don't settle for just any studio they are not all the same. I have a 19 year old daughter and have been through this industry before. I'm a dancer myself, (well I'm only dancing in the kitchen these days lol) but let me tell you, sometimes it is like an episode of dance moms and it's important to find the right fit if your trying to build your child's confidence in dance and plan on having them dance long term. I have never felt a speck of judgment for my weight or body. These women and their daughters have always been kind and respectful. My daughter left her studio of 6 years in her junior year just for the opportunity to train with the staff at Elevate. We were extremely nervous about making such a significant decision so far into her dance training but to say that we are thrilled with the results is an understatement! Angie, the founder and Tahitian dance instructor, has decades of experience. She prides herself on her technical background coming from a legit dance lineage in Hawaii. Her and her husband compete and win competitions. This is not a dance company that is interested in taking your money and leaving you to learn a few moves. This dance school pushes you and teaches you the Polynesian culture. This dance school celebrates diversity in many forms. This dance school also performs in festivals, events, and competitions. They were on the local news too! I'm in beginner Vahine on Mondays 6-7. This class is for beginners learning basic Tahitian. I began working with one of the Villa Sport personal trainers in September. I was matched up to…read morework with trainer Matt for my free training session. I was a little intimidated to be working with him initially. I've only had female personal trainers in the past, and I came into that session during a phase of life where I felt disconnected from my body. I felt very vulnerable and exposed to be reaching out for help to a really strong gym guy. During that session, Matt made me feel so comfortable. He was kind and encouraging. We talked about all of my postpartum challenges and he took notes on what mattered most to me and what I wanted from our time together. I really appreciated how he didn't assume what I wanted or needed just from looking at me. I left that session feeling empowered, hopeful, and safe in this space. (Not to mention he fixed my squat in that first session!) Over the last few months, with Matt's programming, I have gained a few pounds of muscle and lost 6% of my body fat. He writes my programs based on my schedule and what I enjoy doing. He's adapted my workouts to support my pelvic floor health which was a very big postpartum concern for me. Any fear I had of bringing up my pelvic floor to a male trainer were squashed by Matt's caring/person-first approach to training. If you are feeling vulnerable, exposed or intimidated, but ready to get some professional support in the gym, I cannot recommend Matt more highly. He's the trainer for you! In addition to my work with Matt, I began taking Reformer Pilates classes once a week with Kate. It is the most fun I've ever had while working that hard! The Reformer machine is such a unique piece of equipment and keeps my brain really interested and engaged in what we are doing. The glide of the carriage and buoyancy of the springs feel so unique to other types of equipment. It's SO fun- horizontal jumping anyone?! But also, so challenging! Luckily for me, Kate is an incredible instructor! Her cues and prompts are spot on and always help me correct my form and activate the right muscle group. She moves throughout the room and provides individualized encouragement and coaching to each of us. Kate also facilitates an awesome vibe in the class! She is fun and friendly and has created a space that feels welcoming and easy to enter into, even as a total beginner. I'm extremely thankful for the team at Villa Sport who have made me feel like I belong while also achieving my goals. 10/10 recommend.
