This studio is family ran and you can tell. It's super welcoming here! Every staff member, from the instructors to the parents in the waiting room are really friendly!! What I'm mostly impressed with is the love, the connection and the passion, each staff member has for every single students. All while maintaining structure and control of the class. There's so many students and it's very impressive to see them connect to each and every dancer. They are super organized, have great communication and always send out emails on updates. I called 4-5 different studios, before I found Encore, with no call backs from my voicemails, no reply to my emails at all and the one studio that we did a trial class with was a a total fail. They put my girls in the totally wrong level class and the instructor was completely unprofessional. Encore replied immediately and got us right in.!! So, don't settle for just any studio they are not all the same. I have a 19 year old daughter and have been through this industry before. I'm a dancer myself, (well I'm only dancing in the kitchen these days lol) but let me tell you, sometimes it is like an episode of dance moms and it's important to find the right fit if your trying to build your child's confidence in dance and plan on having them dance long term. This might be a great dance studio if you signed your kid up young and then have been there for…read moreyears and years but if you have a child that is older, fourth/fifth or sixth grade, it's not great at all. Everyone, including the teachers are very much a clique and not the most welcoming. They don't take time with new kids or kids that are new to dance. They don't do anything to encourage a comfortable atmosphere for new kids and are very non-responsive when trying to get a hold of them. My daughter really wanted to be part of dance but after a few classes felt so disconnected and uncomfortable I just couldn't force her to go anymore. If you sign up, just know that if it doesn't work out you need to give a 30 day notice of cancellation, even if your child doesn't attend during that time, you will be charged.

Unlike other ballroom studios, Jake does not use high pressure tactics to sell more classes. Instead, it's a low pressure learning environment. Although normally I would consider it premature to write a review after one experience, Jasmin's class was so fantastic in fitting my needs that I felt compelled to do so. I am at the age where I am no longer considered young, but definitely not ready to be labelled as old (44 to be exact). I took up ballet as an adult in my late thirties, and learned how to do my first split at 40. Women who are in my demographic (and younger) need to know one thing if you are seeking and craving the lines and grace of a dancer: IT'S A HARD AND FRUSTRATING PROCESS. It takes years. It takes commitment. And it takes a good instructor. That's where Jasmin comes in. She knows her stuff. I've had some great teachers, but they are all in S.F., and frankly I'm just tired of taking that nasty BART train to the city every week. That's the one thing I can now say I'm too old for. But finding Jasmin is a salvation. After trying another local dance studio for many weeks with a teacher who only cared for the clique student clientele she had already built, I almost gave up on continuing my dance education. Yes, I do take yoga, pilates, and barre classes, but none of these will make you a dancer. They are meant to be complements to your main instruction. Jasmin's class is the main instruction. She corrects your form. She will be strict about it. And if that frustrates you then she is doing her job. And don't expect to dance until you have attained some degree of competence at the basics. Which means, like me, you may be at the barre for a couple of years before you are allowed to put even one socked foot in the middle of the dance floor (actually, I don't think this is true of Jasmin's class, but no one looks to good in the center without good form). The best teachers are ones you want to punch in the face when you think you can't stretch a little more, turn out a little more, hold a position a little more...if you are really looking to improve or learn ballet for the first or second time, then you should expect this frustration when you go to class if you want to get better. Jasmin will make you better without making you want to punch her in the face (but only because it would make you feel guilty to mess with that adorable face)!

She is a true ballerina that has the passion to teach adults the beauty of this art. I had in past years attempted to take an adults class but the instructors weren't as stern in teaching the right movements and helping you correct so as a beginner I always got frustrated and never went back to them (when I use word "stern" I don't mean Jasmin gets in your face but I appreciate her seeing the potential in us enough to take the time to explain and show us correct form and technique)... But really, try the class and you will be hooked...I know I am! Is it possible to crave going to class ? I really hope you enjoy the class as much or more than I do . P.S. The openness of the studio was great for socializing; the bar made things fun and casual; and the class itself was easy to follow along as a beginner. The person at the front desk was so wildly rude that I would never recommend this place to anyone. First, I was just standing at the door looking around and he told me bruskly to scan in. I told him I was new and then he just jumped in and said well I'll make time to give you a tour. I said I don't actually have time for that today, do you have any literature? Then he said no, and I don't have time for you. What business says I don't have time for you? I literally was considering changing gyms because of the 24 hours option. I can't meet the demands of your front desk representative on the spot therefore I'm not a good potential customer? I'm insulted when I walk in the door? Literally I have never been so insulted as a potential new customer in my entire life.
