Let's just say I'm glad I'm a woman.... The classes that Diva Den offers are for the sex kitten's! (or find your inner sex kitten) I've taken the pole dancing class, Zumba and Boo-Ya Burlesque. I'm hooked! They offer a free one-week trial period so you can try out the classes and see if it's for you. If you love to dance then I suggest taking zumba or burlesque. They had a great groupon deal awhile back and my friend and I decided to check it out. Considering the deal was only $5 more than a class we wanted to take and it included a month access into the gym. Such a sweet deal! If you're tired of stinky smelling sweat gym, this is the place for you! We took a couple classes here and all were a lot of fun. The pole taster class was very informational for such a short amount of time. If you're looking for a class that you will feel in the morning, go with barre. It was a fast pace class. We also took a couple of dance classes and all I can say is that I felt like Ariel from The Little Mermaid learning how to use her legs. I'm a beginner for all of these classes and I think barre was the easiest to jump into. Pole taster was a lot of fun, but go into it with the mind set of having fun. Once you start thinking about what you're doing then you'll over analyze yourself and it won't be enjoyable. The dance classes are trickier to get into. You work on a move briefly and then are throwing it into a larger routine of other moves that you just learned. The crowd at diva den were all nice and the instructors had a ton of patience. The instructors really worked with the beginners and even made sure that we were placed by someone who came frequently for additional help. Overall everyone tried to facilitate a comfortable work out environment. The front desk was a little iffy. Sometimes the receptionist would be gone when you walked in. I once asked where a class was and the receptionist pointed me in a general direction... It was passed the desk to where all of the classes were. For me, I never had a formal your of the studio. It's composed of only a couple rooms so it wasn't that hard to maneuver around. I would go here if it was closer to me. I cannot explain the positive energy and the vibe that this place gave off. The classes are SO MUCH fun and with a wide variety from easier to more complex dance fitness (with or without booty shaking), strengthening, toning, stretching, step, pilates, barre and more. I've been going to Diva Den for about 5 years because the atmosphere is really something special. It is such a positive, encouraging place to be with some of the funnest classes I've ever attended (Dance Party Hustle is my favorite!). Very disappointing experiences. I gave Diva Den 3 shots and they failed every time not only with the poor quality of their classes/instructors but with there terrible customer service. On my first visit, I had to tell the desk I was New and ask to fill out a form. Once that was finished the front desk person didn't even offer to show me around or tell me where the class was going to be. Very poor customer service especially for a new customer. You should make people feel welcome and comfortable in your space. Then to top it off, the class was simply terrible. The instructor showed up about two second before it was going to start and was completely unprepared for how many people were in the class. She did not give any helpful directions or modifications to the exercises. There was not enough props for each person and she had us doing camel pose with little warm up of the low back which can be dangerous. On my second visit, I again receive no level of service from the desk upon check in. I had to ask to be shown where the class was. Again the instructor showed up with no time before the class. I actually left this class early because it was so terrible. It was like an instructor didn't want to bother getting certified in Zumba or Ujam. So she made up her own thing. She gave poor cues, used the same 5 moves for every song. Not worth the time. My third and last visit to Diva Den was yesterday. My friend and I had signed up for a floor combos class and were going to leave work early and drop into the pole play class. However when We got there to sign in, the desk said I owed for the class. I had a 20 pack with 18 classes left and apparently that class requires a different type of class pack. However this was in no way made clear on any of their information. The "co-owner" of the studio who also apparently doesn't value customer service was no help. My friend and I both ended up canceling all our class reservations and will not be back. There are so many other great places to go in PDX. Don't waste you're time at Diva Den. read more

Such a fun class and such a good workout. Me and my team did a class for our Christmas party and it was great. The instructor was knowledgeable and made sure we all felt comfortable, the music was great also. She took the time to show us moves individually and as a group and also took pictures of us all having fun. She let us know we also get a week free to try out different platforms. The studio as a whole is a full-service women's fitness center, with all the trimmings of a corporate gym. It's spacious and convenient, but impersonal. I took Saturday morning pole. The studio was huge, with maybe 8 45mm poles. The instruction was similar to a weight-lifting class, very technique-oriented conditioning, with a little zumba-esque warm-up. The instructor was precise and correct and gave us exercises challenging for every level, focusing of shoulders and core. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't even a little bit exotic. We were on our feet the whole time, the lighting was sterile, we could hear upbeat music from classes next-door. read more

Had a hard time giving it a 2 but the class was fun. First off walked in never been there before. Two ladies were at the front desk talking, my friend and I walked up to the desk looking at papers having no clue what to do. Waiting probably 2 or 3 minutes didn't get greeted or even eye contact from the ladies behind the desk. Finally i spoke up and said I was new here and what should I do. Then she became alert and interacted with my friend and I took us to our class. After the class was over I didn't feel like i had enough of what i came for so wanted to try another class. Went to the front desk, this time the lady was on the phone. i wanted to ask about other classes that were going on and what they were like. Simple questions! I STOOD AT THE DESK FOR 8 MINUTES WITHOUT HER LOOKING UP OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGING THAT I WAS THERE! I was talking to try to see if she would say something but I got nothing. So by this time i was fed up. Got my stuff and left. If it wasn't for the terrible customer service i would be a paying customer right now. Instead I will never go back to that place. I was not fond of diva den. I rarely review a place that I dislike but diva den was the only place I have been to that I really did not enjoy. The front desk person was not friendly. There was no showing me around or really even getting directions to where the class was held. The class that I took, a Zumba class was the first Zumba class where I realized this is why people hate Zumba. I Zumba a lot!!! At different studios and most of the time instructors have a way of teaching you the steps, that is what they are there for but the person who was teaching the class had more then one girl walk out on them and one of those people was me. This is something I never do but I really disliked the class I hated not getting the steps and having no cues. It was pathetic! I could teach a Zumba class to and dance around and hope regulars are there to follow along. I did another class afterwards which was much better the instructor was really fun. But I felt like the classes, especially the first were a bit packed. I might try a pole class there but there is something very Diva-ish about Diva Den and not the good diva. read more

I feel like I really need to do an update because I've really been loving this place. After taking close to 30 classes after a free week and my living social deal, I can pretty much say that I'm hooked. The level of classes are amazing. I've taken Meet Me at the Barre with Marsha, Look Better Naked and Zumba with Rosella, Abs and Zumba with Kelli and I can honestly say that they are all amazing. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to stick with it because of their location (a little bit of a drive from inner P-town), but the classes are so great that it's not a big deal. I even get my bootie out of bed at 4:50 am to make Marsha's 5:30 am class on Friday mornings. If you are a lady looking to mix of your fitness routine, this could be your ticket. read more

I went to Diva Den a few years back and really liked it a lot. I didn't return for awhile because the location for me isn't that convienient, but when I saw a living social deal, I thought I would go again. First of all they have a free week trial, that they let you use even if you have been there before. I made good use of that, taking two classes almost everyday for the week. I am going to start using my deal, this week which is good for 20 fitness classes, an aerial yoga class, and one pole class. The classes are fun and unique. Just what I need, because doing the same thing over and over again bores me. I really liked the Cardio Strip Teeze class. It doesn't feel like working out, but you sure sweat and the next day I was sore! The Buti and Circuit City classes with Rosie were hard, but I still enjoyed them. All the classes I have taken so far have been great. The employees and teachers there are really awesome. Everyone is so friendly and everyone looks like they are having fun. After my first day there, a girl said to me, "wow, I have never been to a gym before where everyone leaves smiling." I replied back to her, "I think that's because these classes are fun and they don't feel like torture!" We both laughed. Now, instead of dreading going to the gym, I look forward to it! read more

I'm in a severe amount of pain and although I will take all the pride - all the credit goes to Diva Den. I tried to take full advantage of their 7 day trial but those sly minxes knew that I would not only be fully hooked but unable to walk. And it feels amazing! The moment I walked in I was instantly welcomed and given a tour by the wonderful lady at the front desk. Since then I've taken as many of their ridiculously addictive classes as I could including the Intro To Pole class. Every class has been more fun than the last thanks to the inventive instructors and the game participants. No judgements just heaps of support and camaraderie. There are many reasons I'm going to be heartbroken when I move back to LA this week, Diva Den high amongst them. But every month when I come back to visit I will make it a point to drop in for a class. Seriously, don't waste your time NOT going. Recently I wrapped up a month long deal that I got off of Portland Perks. Really glad I picked that up! This is a really fun alternative for women who want to get moving. They have a few studio spaces catered to a variety of class offerings. There's a large studio where they feature larger classes like Zumba, It's a Groove Thang, and more cardio classes. There's a small pole studio with, yes you guessed it, pole classes. And then can't remember if it's one or two more small spaces, where there are some additional classes like aerial yoga, Stiletto Strength, etc. I have really liked all the instructors that I've had. They've all been really friendly and make everyone feel welcome. I'm such an uncoordinated person, but am never made to feel like a total loser. I recommend buying a package of classes. Per class it's pretty pricey, at $15.00 a pop. But if you haven't been before and want to check things out you can sign up for a free week of unlimited classes. Also, they offer more than just fitness and dance classes. There is tanning, massages, facials & waxing, nail services and even child care! read more

They are the best studio for women ever. They are very supportive and they do not judge you. I walk out feeling very confident and feeling great about myself. I stopped going for a few months , and when I decided to come back, they welcomed me with open arms. They even make it a point to call every one by name. All the staff are wonderful!!! I am increasingly becoming addicted to this place. If I go too long in between visits I start feeling anxious, the kind of anxious where I check the door locks fifty times until I realize that it's been awhile since my last workout here. I am in love with every single class I have taken here. Right now I am loving Megan's Pop Tart-an awesome cardio workout while you learn a routine that corresponds to pretty much any popular hit that is out. I also adore bringing out my saucier side in Rosella's Zumba class and learning some sweet steps in Keli's Cardio Samba class. Want a killer strength workout? The kind where your legs/butt/arms/abs hate you but you start noticing these little hard things called muscles in the mirror? Take any of Keli's abs/arms/bottom class or Megan's Dancer's Body. They hurt in a good way. Prices are still a bit high, but they always seem to be offering some sort of deal, so I'm down with that. It's easily a lot cheaper than other addictions! read more

5/12/2012 At first I was intimidated by this "boutique" gym. Then I went to my first pole dance class. I need a stronger word, "love" doesn't cut it! Everyone, instructors and classmates alike is so supportive and friendly that it always feels like a girls night when I go. I love the club lights, they make me feel sexy and the routines are fun. Kristin talked to me a bit and then not only recommended that I use my free week but suggested some specific classes for me that I love. I can't do boring workouts and here I don't have to, I can do burlesque dancing, aerial yoga (this has just about fixed my car accident owies) and sexy stretching to my heart's content! I LOVE THIS PLACE and my new bubble butt. It feels like I'm going to the spa...and there are spa services on the premises so.... :) Try it, you will love it! Yes, Diva Den is for the sex kittens! But it is for sex kittens of any age, size, shape, weight! Don't be intimidated, as long as you want to have a fun sexy workout this is the place for you! It is really great because it feels like you are going to a girls night out when you go to the gym. Everyone there is pretty friendly and since there are no dudes you don't have to be self conscious about anything- you can wear a sexy outfit to dance class and have a ball! My fave classes right now are Megan Armand's dance classes and the Saturday morning Porche classes. But all the instructors are really good so you can't really go wrong. Price CAN be an issue as it is not the cheapest place, but as others have noted there are deals to be had- keep an eye on living social, groupon, etc. They might have another one! I did the LS deal and then they offered a discounted rate of $55/month when I was done- which I am locked into for as long as I want! That is $20 off a month of the regular price for unlimited classes. read more

The studio moved to a new, larger location last year, which is great for them, and now there are more classes available. Although the new location may be convenient for Southwestern suburbanites, I feel it isn't as central as it used to be (on Barbur Blvd, minutes from downtown) and it is certainly out of the way for me now. I did take an intro to pole class, which was fun, but I feel we didn't learn much in the 90 minutes. That may just be the nature of it, though. There are some cool new things they are doing, like having more childcare available, personal nutrition consultations, and spa services, but that's not what I am looking for. I came to Diva Den for aerial yoga, and personally prefer the calm, simple yoga studio atmosphere. Diva Den is a little over the top for that. Diva Den is all pink & glitter, estrogen & self-esteem; sometimes all I want to do is stretch. As much as I enjoyed the classes I took in the past, I decided to discontinue my membership - I am not a fan of the new location or the direction that the business is moving. That doesn't mean it's necessarily a bad thing, and this review is, of course, just my opinion. If that is making the business successful then power to them. read more

Update: 3 months later, I am down 20 pounds and my body and confidence are stronger than they've been in years! I am there 4-5 days a week, taking regular classes with Keli, Rosella, and Megan. They're all amazing trainers who challenge my body in new ways every time! I seriously cannot say enough good about this place. I am now addicted to group exercise, and this is the first "gym" outside my home to which I have managed to commit for a prolonged amount of time. I am still not a great dancer, but my balance and coordination has vastly improved. I must say, it's also nice to see that things don't jiggle nearly as much as they used to ;) Still absolutely recommended to women of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. read more

Pole dancing. Yup. It's a lot harder than it looks but it's fun. We had a party of about 15 women getting a mini sexy workout before bachelorette party festivities. They set a table up for us so we could set up our own refreshments. After a little liquid courage we were ready to go. The class was organized, we learned some tricks, and the instructors were great. I love this place! My only issue is that it's a little spendy and the fact that I live in Hillsboro makes it even more expensive to go. I tried their free week and loved every class and instructor that I had. I bought the 5 session package and wish I could afford to go more often. I love diva den! I first learned about Diva Den when my husband purchased me strip dance lessons for Christmas (Clever guy I know). I loved the lessons and decided to sign up for a membership and pole dancing. Their workouts are a lot of fun, a great workout and I leave feeling sexy! The instructors are fun and patient with newcomers. The class content is unusually FUN. I have recommended this place to ALL OF MY FRIENDS. It's so worth the time, money, and travel time. It is one of a kind!! --------------------------------------- For those who might like some details, here they are in more words than necessary. Sorry but I am incurably long-winded. I have used many Groupons trying to find somewhere fun to dance and work out and EVERY other time, the staff and clientele were either intimidating. I would either get a closed clique kind of vibe or in one case, distinct feelings of unwelcome because I didn't know their routines, habits, or I unknowingly stood in someone else's usual spot. Diva Den? Oh my freaking god!! I don't think I was made to feel this welcome since my last birthday party! For friggin' serious - I called to figure out how to activate my account and the woman who helped me, Valerie, could not have been more patient, helpful, and pleasant. A few times I went, I wasn't sure which room my class was to be in and every time, the front desk staff on duty gladly showed me to the room the class was in without even a flicker that implied I was an inconvenience, which would have been fairly reasonable given that I was asking them to walk me to class like they were my mother on the first day of kindergarten. The classes?? EVERY instructor I've taken a class from has been kind and patient and helpful AND more importantly, the classes are challenging but ABSOLUTELY SO MUCH FUN. Hashim, the instructor of a class that starts at 5:30am gave me individual help and encouragement despite the early hour and my abysmal ability to keep up with the regulars (who were also willing to help me get into their routines). Rosella is the instructor for "It's a Groove Thang!" and she makes the class SO fun - she's enthusiastic and energetic and her dance moves are less mind-boggling and complicated and more fun than other dance workout classes I've taken. By that, I mean, she gives you choreography that is delightful even if you are not as...coordinated as others (take it from me, as my friends always refer to me "dancing" in quotes). "It's a Groove Thang!" is easily my favorite dance workout class I have EVER taken and I have tried MANY. I took "Center of Gravity" with Jody and since Valerie was at the front desk that day, she kindly tipped Jody off that I was new (Valerie is a GD ANGEL). Jody helped me through all of the movements. I was SO scared before signing up for this class because it involves fabric slings hanging from the ceiling and I worried I'd end up tangling myself up and flopping around helplessly like a flying goober while the rest of the class looked on in perplexity and disdain. I couldn't have been more wrong. Jody helped me with everything before I even had to ask and the others in the class seemed to want me to succeed as much as I wanted to! And the class was DELIGHTFUL. I felt incredible afterward. I don't have a single negative word to say about this place. This review may sound like overenthusiastic hyperbole, but I don't usually gush. I just genuinely believe that this place is a wonderful, WONDERFUL place to go, workout, chat with inexplicably helpful and kind people. It is SO worth your time, money, and even commute! I have recommended it to all of my friends because it is a BLAST and a half and I have thoroughly enjoyed every single visit from beginning to end! One of my favorite places in the world! Who knew working out could actually be enjoyable and something I looked forward to doing. I have been a 24-hour fitness member since college, and have tried other gyms like: CrossFit, boxing, OrangeTheory and Barre3...but nothing compares to Diva Den. They have over 30 different classes a WEEK! From Bootcamp, Dance Fitness, Yoga, Pilates, Barre, HIIT, etc. Whatever kind of class you like they have it. If you hate running on the treadmill, but love dancing, their dance fitness classes are so much fun. I feel like I'm in a club with my girls dancing our butts off, without worrying about the creepy guys. Ha ha. If you like to lift heavy and get a round booty, they have it. Want to relax, or just start out slow? They have low impact classes like yoga and barre. Great thing is the instructors also modify if you have an injury. Hurt back or shoulder, bad knees, they modify. Dude, it's like having your own personal trainer! Plus it's cheaper than all the other specialty gyms out there. BONUS: they have pole classes! So much fun...who knew?! I encourage you to try their intro pole class. I loved it. And the community of ALL WOMEN is just the best feeling ever. I'm super uncoordinated, but in Zumba class, I'm the one who cannot stop smiling because I'm having so much fun- even if I'm not doing it perfectly.
