We relocated 8 years ago from Los Gatos, CA and were referred to Sultanov Ballet Academy by the Los Gatos Ballet. We loved our studio and the performances; we were looking for what we had in California. Well, we found it and it came with sound instruction and discipline which resulted in amazing productions! Both my son and daughter attended Sultanov for the last 8 years and have danced in numerous Nutcracker Performances and wonderful spring performances such as Swan Lake and Don Quixote. Artur Sultanov works closely with the students and offers private classes which further develop their skills for advanced roles in performances and the opportunity to compete in dance competitions. We attended both YAGP and ADC IBC dance completions which resulted in attending nationals in both Tampa and New York. The training our children received at SBA developed them to go on to other opportunities, both dancing at their schools working toward higher education in dance. Especially in winter 2020, when classes went online, they tried to make it the smoothest transition. We were informed we could try out the classes once before deciding if we would be joining the studio. My friend was the one who brought my daughter to the first class which she got the times mixed up and my daughter and her friend ended up in the level three ballet class on Tuesday at 5:00 pm. In class my daughter was concerned about another student, and decided to ask the teacher about the other student who was sitting out at the time. The teacher in an unprofessional and snappy manner instructed my daughter to mind her own business. This is a Grown adult talking to a child, and very unprofessional. We let it slide thinking everyone has a bad day, and decided we would try again ,we ended up coming back this week for the level 2 ballet at 4. From what I was told, is the Teacher who does the level 3 class also runs the level 2 class. From what the front desk told me, was my child was disruptive in the classroom, and the teacher was having trouble keeping her on track, instead of excusing my daughter from the classroom , saying this level was not for her , the teacher proceeded to ask my child with disabilities how old she was in front of the other students and when she answered 10, the teacher asked other students to participate in raising their hand if they were also 10 , and when the class did she publicly bullied and embarrassed my daughter by telling her she should act more like them. My child and her friend exited out into the bathroom and my child cried and wanted to leave ,They left the studio shortly after. This is grown adult, talking to and teaching children, including ones with disabilities .The teacher should have professionally excused Ashley from the classroom, It is unacceptable for a teacher to behave in a unprofessional manner towards anyone let alone children. I emailed the director , and never received anything back , it's been over a week. So if you would like your children with or without disability be bullied by a teacher and humiliated , while being ignored by the director herself , this is the place for you and your child. This studio is family ran and you can tell. It's super welcoming here! Every staff member, from the instructors to the parents in the waiting room are really friendly!! What I'm mostly impressed with is the love, the connection and the passion, each staff member has for every single students. All while maintaining structure and control of the class. There's so many students and it's very impressive to see them connect to each and every dancer. They are super organized, have great communication and always send out emails on updates. I called 4-5 different studios, before I found Encore, with no call backs from my voicemails, no reply to my emails at all and the one studio that we did a trial class with was a a total fail. They put my girls in the totally wrong level class and the instructor was completely unprofessional. Encore replied immediately and got us right in.!! So, don't settle for just any studio they are not all the same. I have a 19 year old daughter and have been through this industry before. I'm a dancer myself, (well I'm only dancing in the kitchen these days lol) but let me tell you, sometimes it is like an episode of dance moms and it's important to find the right fit if your trying to build your child's confidence in dance and plan on having them dance long term.
