Long story short, someone keyed my car and damaged my door lock a couple of years ago. I made the claim right away but then procrastinated on following through with the repairs (for which there is a 2-year time limit if you want it covered by your insurance). I figured I'd have all the time in the world to get it done but then suffered a health condition that took me out for the months leading up to my 2-year deadline. So there's me, trying to find an auto body shop that would take my car in for repair on less than a week's notice. I initially didn't realize how ridiculous of a request that was until I spoke to my insurance provider and then called a large number of other auto body shops. Turns out they all have a 6-week waiting list right now. I literally got laughed at when I called some auto body shops to ask if they could take me right away. But Boyd Autobody Richmond was sympathetic to my situation and agreed to take my car right away, despite how busy they are. I was already on cloud 9 and so incredibly grateful when I went in to pick up my car. But little did I know, they still had one surprise left for me. After paying my deductible and getting my keys, I walked out to my car to examine their work. It was perfect. I then jumped in my car, prepared to drive off, when I looked around and saw that my car was immaculately clean. I was shocked. To put this into perspective, my car has not been that clean in years. I have two huskies, both of which shed like you wouldn't believe and love to run through mud, as well as the sand at the beach after getting wet. And then they get in my car. I literally gave up on trying to keep my car clean years ago. And I'm pretty sure there was close to an inch of husky hair than had accumulated on the floor of my back seats, which I tended to ignore because I have a little 2-door BMW so it was hard to get to that area and I never really had to see it anyway. So let's just say, I was convinced my car would never be clean again unless I paid at least $500 for a professional to detail it. I in no way expected Boyd Autobody to clean the inside of my car like that...and BMW certainly doesn't do it whenever I've taken my car in for servicing (not that I can blame them, lol). But Boyd Autobody Richmond went above and beyond on that front. I don't even want to know how many hours it took the poor guy assigned that task to complete it. I was so impressed and grateful that I ran back inside and asked if I could give the guy who cleaned my car a tip. But they, with a smile, said no, it's all good, and they would pass along my thanks. I am never taking my car to another auto body shop again.

My experience with body shops have not been good, so I was pretty surprised that the office was relatively clean and each rep had their own desk I could sit and chill as they process my paperwork. The guy hands me an iPad. "What. You want me to play games as I wait?" No. Instead, they had a cute little cartoon thing explaining what will be happening to my vehicle. Not only was I surprises that a body shop would even know what an iPad was (Most I've been to have been pretty low tech), it was a hoot that they went as far as creating cartoon videos to explain to customers what is going on. Got my car looked at and made an appointment to come back and drop it off for repair. When I dropped off my car, the AutoMind rep also showed me how I can use my iPhone to see the photos of my car and see what stage my car is at in their shop. Then they had someone from Enterprise pick me up to get my temporary car. Got a car I've wanted to try out for a few days. When I went back to pick up my car, more paperwork and another iPad cartoon telling me something about my warrantee. I checked over the work. Couldn't tell I got hit (Guess that means a good job). And they also vacuumed and cleaned the interior of my car (With 2 kids, it had gotten mighty dirty with pieces of stuck dried fruit in various locations). The work was pretty good, and those cartoons were pretty funny. What got me was the fact that they put in a lot of effort and tech stuff into the customer side, with the cartoons and the iPhone login thing to look at my car. All in all, it was a pretty smooth and funny experience. But it still sucks that you need to pay the deductible for something that you didn't do...

On May 15, 2015, I brought my vehicle to Performance One for an oil change. The oil change was done…read moreincorrectly, which required the car to be towed to the dealership to correct. The dealership diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the issue was caused by over filling engine oil. They also found engine oil on the engine air filter housing, MAF sensor, throttle body, cylinder heads and exhaust. The dealership did not find any pre-existing damage to the vehicle, I paid for the dealership diagnostic examination, repair service and clean up out of my pocket. Performance One denied any wrongdoing, and refused to reimburse me for the monies paid to correct their damage. I had to file a complaint to BC Small Claims Court, wherein the court ruled against Performance One, awarding me with the repair invoice amount, search fees and court fees. The judge also noted that AWG Performance One has wasted my time, their time, and the court time. Making a mistake is one thing, but when a mistake is made by a business, one would expect they would own up to it and not need customers to take them to Court. Wanting to bring your beloved vehicle to Performance One? Think again!

So, here's the story. I know a little but not a lot about cars. I do know when you hear a bad…read morenoise, something is wrong. Not withstanding the "comments" from various male friends, I knew the clutch on my 10 year old Nissan Sentra needed to be done. I've had my fair share of distrust over the years of mechanics and repair shops. Most of them seemed like rip off artists to me...speaking down to me as if they were trying to impart knowledge that was way over my head. It always felt like they really just wanted my money. Enter Performance One: I've been coming to Performance One for the last year and a bit for oil changes and such minor things. In that time, I've had some good conversations with the manager, service advisor and both mechanics. Even for a simple oil change, if I had questions, they gave me answers. That makes me feel good. So earlier this week when I went in for my regular oil change and the mechanic said "Your clutch has to be done right away. I'm not kidding. Don't put this off any longer or the transmission could be damaged and then you're really in trouble." It was a no-brainer to get them to do it. I'm not going to kid you, a clutch job is expensive. And I admit, out of curiosity, I called around anyway to get some other quotes...and friends shared their stories of how much they paid over the years for the same kind of work. I found the quote from Performance One to be very reasonable (the quote from my Nissan dealership was outrageous!) The service manager gave me some options to choose from and explained the pro and cons of those options. The mechanic popped his head in and gave his two cents as well. Again, giving me the information helped me feel that I am part of the process and I know what's going on. I took my car in first thing Friday morning and it was done late that afternoon...spending the day in their upstairs lounge as the work went on. AND HOLY CRAP. The clutch they put in is FRICKEN AWESOME. I am so happy! I'm not fighting to get it into 2nd or reverse anymore. I was actually good with paying this bill because I think driving will be a pleasure again. Thanks guys, you've got my business and I'll wholeheartedly recommend you guys any time.

They arranged the rental car and even an extension as I was out of town a few days and couldn't pick it up at the appointed time. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle I was greeted by Luis who took me into their shop and went over step by step exactly what was done. They took all my stress away from getting my vehicle assessed, repaired and handed back to me like a super shiny brand new vehicle....it was amazing.... really!! Whenever I get into one of those unfortunate car accidents, the first place I think of when having…read moremy dings and dents repaired is K P. They are an "ICBC Accredited" shop, so any minor accident that was not your fault, and was no hit and run, you complained of no bodily injury, and ICBC has waved the deductible on you, most likely you will not even have to go to the claim centres, as when you tell them on the phone, you can just go here. A big shop, where the entrance for a car is on the back alley, which is really close to Brittania Secondary. Any body work that needs to be done, they do a great job in restoring your car back to what it should be looking like. The workers are helpful in explaining what they did after you pick up your car, are very thorough from front to back. The guy who runs the shop (Kevin) is very friendly, and over the years of coming here, he knows who I am, and all his clientele, and not treating you just as another number going through his shop. They have courtesy cars here, that are a bit older, but they have them, but what really sets this shop apart from the rest is the service, attitude, and care that take on working on your car. They are very honest as well!

Mike was so helpful and accommodating. He got me a courtesy car that would fit my 3 car seats and rushed my cAr so I would have it back in time for a road trip. My car looks brand new, was returned sparkling clean (it was not dropped off that way ), and everyone that I dealt with at the shop was so helpful and kind. You can definitely tell that this is a family run company who takes very good care of their employees- it shows. II will definitely be returning in here for any repairs in the futurE.
